— Ace Hey, Jews? You either stay on Team Democrat or we give you the treatment we give to our enemies.
You don't want us reviving centuries-old tropes about Jewish wealth, do you?
Then do the right thing. You understand?
California Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman, a prominent Jewish congressman, explained that some Jews are selecting not to vote for Democrats because “they want to protect their wealth, which is why a lot of well-off voters vote for Republicans.”
Waxman is himself Jewish, so I suppose he's "allowed" to say this. Still, he's putting people on notice what the acceptable sort of commentary may become if Jews aren't sufficiently supportive of the Democratic cause.
Jews, meanwhile, are starting to have their doubts about Obama's commitment to protecting their wealth (as Waxman might put it).
Obama’s approval rating among Jewish Americans is also down to 55 percent – a five point drop from his approval rating in June, which stood at 60 percent.Together, the rise in disapproval and dip in approval ratings are a net negative 11 point downturn for Obama among Jews…
At that link, Hot Air discusses whether or not the US will veto Palestine's formal demand of statehood at the UN. Based on Obama's hosin' from The Chosen, he figures we will in fact veto it.

Waxman is a lying, pig-faced, hypocritical, two-faced, snake-tongued son of an illegitimate whore. Any sentient being (this of course excludes Democrats) knows that the true party of the rich is the Democratic Party. Why the hell do you think all those fatcats on Wall Street donate to Democrats at a ratio of 10:1 over Republicans.
Lying rat-faced weasel.

Despite the fact that, at their core, most Team Obama foreign-policy poobahs probably want it to pass.
If it were up to any of them individually, if they could get away with doing so without committing political hara-kiri, Sam Power, Susan Rice, even Obama himself would probably support it (I think Hillary's smarter than that.)

Cultural Jews are the ones who are special, because it makes them elite, in their own mind, for some reason.
Religious, Orthodox Jews are the problem with this world and deny Palestinians their right to return to their homeland which is occupied by Jews, who, by the way, hold much of the world's wealth and are greedy. Hasidic diamond merchants and what not.
Or something like that.

I always heard that jews lived like episcopalians and voted like puerto ricans mostly because they saw themselves as the underclass who needed govt protection/help. I think that for a usually smart race noticing that govts have not historically treated them very well (ahem) should have been on their list of things to do.

Maybe. I think you are sort of correct; it is in part a sense that we Jews are uniquely qualified to protect the weak and the poor -- a twisted and simplistic Tikkun Olam -- if you will.

"There's been more progress on nutrition in the last several years than in the whole previous decade," says Margo Wootan, a leading nutrition advocate and lobbyist with the Center for Science in the Public Interest who has been working on the issue for almost 20 years. "There is a lot of momentum in addressing obesity right now and the first lady adds significant momentum to that movement."
Wootan says Mrs. Obama and her staff have done more than just public appearances, working behind the scenes with industry and Congress to affect change. "She does more than use the bully pulpit," says Wootan.

I agree. The allure of concept of socialism isn't what everyone gets, it's what everyone, working together gives. But that concept fails to consider human nature. One of the ettes here pointed out a great lesson in socialism is working in groups for a grade. Invariably one, at the most two, in the group carry the group, but everyone gets the same grade. The ones who carry the group won't work like that again and the ones who benefited from the work of others will continue to try to benefit until they have nothing.

As the Orlando Sentinel reported in November 2010, "Orlando-based Darden Restaurants is getting a break on part of the health-care reform law requiring companies to raise significantly annual coverage limits for low-cost insurance plans starting next year." The Sentinel pointed out that "Darden's waiver would apply to 34,000 employees, or about 20 percent of its 174,000-person workforce. Most of Darden's employees work in its restaurants such as Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse."
They already got the waiver. This is just payment for services rendered.

Anti Semitism in Europe is far older than Hitler and not restricted to Germany. It goes back to the Middle and Dark Ages. It is why Hitler found much traction, everyone could get together on the strong nation/down with the Jews' platform.
The taking it the point of death camps might not have been accepted if they had a vote on it, but he found enough true believers to implement it and allowed the rest to avert their eyes.
The bulk of the Jews in Germany weren't even particularly religious. Didn't matter in the end.

Several reasons - they are an 'other' group that doesn't dissolve into the community. The bans against owning land and property led them to town life, and the need to flee meant that they put their money into skills and into trade that they could take with them.
In the Orient, the Chinese outside of China are in exactly the same position and get a lot of the same problems from the locals.

One of the reasons (and there were many) was that there were certain activities that were closed to Christians. Banking (as we know it today) is the most widely-known example: if you were a Christian, then you were committing the sin of usury by loaning money (with interest), but it was really the only profitable way of doing it. So the Jews ended up with the market.
It was probably one of the reasons why the Spanish Crown supported the Inquisition: they got to remove a bunch of their debts by kicking the Jews out.

Actually, before then, the Jews got a bunch of preferential treatment. For example: they didn't have to sacrifice to the State Cult -- instead, they stood in for Augustus and made his offering to their God.
Rome and Judiasm is an excessively complicated subject, until Herod and Pontius Pilate enter the picture. Then it becomes pretty simple: bad appointed administrators cause locals to revolt.

Sifty, I wrote this on the other thread (didn't realize it was a dead thread):
Sifty, if you are still here, is it soft? Is it mobile? If so, it's probably a lipoma. If it's hard and doesn't move, than it's probably not. Lipomas are benign fatty tumors. Excision will get rid of it, and it won't come back. If it's not bothering you and it's benign (they might do a needle biopsy to determine that), then they might just give you the option of doing nothing and just keeping an eye on it.
Oh, and Sifty, if it's a lipoma and you want it out, surgery usually isn't a big deal. Can be done with a block or a local even, may give you a little valium or versed to calm you down beforehand. Same day surgery, half hour maybe an skin to skin. (Might be a little longer if it's wrapped around a nerve--which they should be able to see on the MRI).

Pontius wasn't even around for either of the two big revolts. Sure, the Romans had a pretty heavy handed government, but everyone else in the Med basin more or less ran smoothly. Revolting for political purposes or better conditions the Romans could 'get'. The 'messiah of the month' religious uprisings you can read about in Josephus didn't fit well with that, or with anything else. As you know from the Gospels, the Jewish authorities were trying to keep a lid on things too.

Heh. I have a number of friends here who would get in the libtard in-laws' faces. I might actually wake from the dead just to watch.

Fears of a deepening of Europe's debt crisis have prompted the world's leading central banks to pump US dollars into the financial system, in a co-ordinated action designed to boost market confidence.
The Bank of England joined the US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank, the Swiss National Bank and the Bank of Japan on Thursday to announce that they would flood money markets with dollars over the coming months.
Inflation, she's a comin.

313 I've never understood why anti-Semitism had such a hold in Germany and northern Europe, where hard work, education, and thrift are appreciated.
Short answer, it didn't. Paradoxically, Germany historically was one of the least anti-Semitic countries in Europe. Spain/Portugal kicked the Jews out in 1492, with the Inquisition in hot pursuit, England, France, and Italy were frankly anti-Semitic (England, for example, at times banning their immigration entirely) and wanted no parts of them, so Jews moved to ... Germany, and thence to Poland and later to Russia.
Read Paul Johnson's History of the Jews for more on this. The peasants in Russia came to hate the Jews because they were the tax collectors for the gentry.

And in tangential news, a just filed engagement letter with which a bankrupt Solyndra will retain Imperial Capital at the cost of $150,000 per month (this is cash that is immediately leaving the estate, thus minimizing recoveries to US taxpayers), a $1 million confirmation fee, a $1 million sale fee (the two are not exclusive), a 1%/3%/5% financing fee (i.e., Imperial arranges follow through financing, although good luck with that), and so on. In other news, should this bankruptcy stretch for more than the usual 1 year period from filing to emergence, US taxpayers will be on the hook for another roughly $3 million, in order to hire a banker whose ultimate value added will be an "orderly" liquidation of the company.

b - Robert Welch, the founder of the Birch society, remarked that a communist has only one religion, communism; his have been born into any other religion, even though he may become a more active member of that religion, means nothing.
