Hitler weighs in on the Republican nomination race [Fritzworth]
— Open Blogger

Bumped By Ace. I stepped on this last night without seeing it. I just watched it; it's one of the funnier Downfall parodies.

I am expressly not endorsing Hitler's message here (which is weakly pro-Romney; then again, it's Hitler, so I don't know how much this endorsement is worth). Hitler spreads insults around the field, so, to that extent, Hitler is a fair-minded, honest analyst, who probably would be a good debate moderator.

I'm linking it because it's actually pretty funny.

Pretty much spot on. Hat tip to American Digest. ..fritz..

28

I recall that Nixon failed in '60, then came back for a '68-'72 double header. Part of his success was that much of America was unhappy with Johnson & the D's (rightly or wrongly, America was unhappy).

Reagan, having spu his wheel in the 60s &'70s, emerged to win the '80-'84 double header, and American unhappiness with Carter was a big factor.

I fear that much of America remembers Newt as he was portrayed in the '90s ... but then unhappines with JEF is astounding. Maybe Newt is electable, or maybe he can become electable.

I still like Perry and Cain, and maybe a few others waiting in the wings, but it looks like Newt has emerged and cannot be defeated ... until November.

What needs to happen and to be done to maximize Newt's electability? JEF screwing up some more ... outside of overt neglegent or criminal acts, is anything left?

It looks like polishing the Newt needs to start happening. Mybe some solid economic proposals that JEF could steal (and then be exposed) would help, and maybe attack ad pressure on F&F, Solyndra, Lightsquared, Pelosi-Reed theft ...

34 Maybe I'm old now and it just crept up on me, but I remember Newt Gingrich from the 90's, and looking carefully at the supposedly new and improved version, I still see the same ego-maniacal asshole he's always been: thin-skinned, petulant, flighty, filled with an unwarranted sense of importance and the conviction he is a Great Man of Destiny, an oddly proportioned, baby-headed man whose already high, irritating voice goes up a full two octaves when he's annoyed or under pressure. We are so screwed.

35 Ronald Reagan was called a warmonger.  Reagan was called heartless.  Reagan was called a practitioner of voo-doo. Everyone said Carter would crush the failed B actor.   And this was coming from the GOP establishment.

Reagan was a right wing Republican who thought FDR was our greatest President.  Ronald Reagan had only been a Republican for 18 years before he won the nomination and the Presidency.

Independents don't vote for Milquetoast toast white bread pussies.  They vote for bold ideas and bolder leadership.  Mitt Romney is not that person.  Newt Gingrich is.

And no, Gingrich didn't pull down all those deferments because he held a principled stand against the war. He did it because he was chickenshit.

38 @30: Downfall is well worth watching. My problem with all of these take-offs is that I actually understand the German, so the subtitles just don't flow as jokingly (I can't shut off the part of the brain that says "hey, that's not right"). And yes, it is an overworked over tired meme, but this is not a bad take on the state of the GOP right now.

62 Yes, it's a great movie. He fudges the ending and has the secretary escape unharmed. In real life, her and the other women were gang raped by commies and later she was kept as a sex slave for a year by a commie office. Ironically, many of the street scenes were filmed in St. Petersberg because the architecture resembles Berlin. Consequently, the film employed Russian soldiers as extras.

I donno. I've read quite a bit about Hitler. And the actor portrayal of him is pretty good. I can even identify with some of Hitler's insecurities and failings as a human being, save for the mass extermination/rule the world part. I just don't think you can make him funny. He was a real life monster. How about a Stalin parody of the election? What? Hitler is funny but Stalin isn't? How bout Chairman Mao? Pol Pot? Why is Hitler funny and the others repulsive? Ever wonder? Anybody done a Tojo skit?

Posted by: maddogg at December 15, 2011 09:22 AM (OlN4e)

66 I hate to interrupt this double post with something new but I thought that this was funny.  There is a trial in France of a North African activist who is accused of anti-white hate speech.  She invented the word "souchiens" which allegedly causes "racial injury" to the honky frogs.  It's a play on words.  "Souche" is a word meaning "root" or "stock" and the defendant argues that it refers to the original French people but it sounds like "sous chien;" i.e., "beneath a dog."  I thought that the insult was clever and, in addition, the fight is between a radical "North African" activist and a radical General Alliance Against Racism and Respect for French and Christian Identity activist.

So you two have at it and I'll point and laugh.

67 My problem with all of these take-offs is that I actually understand the German Same here. I have to watch them a few times to get all the jokes. Hitler's accent also irritates. It's apparently a very good imitation of his Austrian accent by a Swiss actor, but it's not one I recognize.

The only thing I'm left to hope for is the dominant theme of this parody: we gotta draft somebody.  Unless we get a candidate that can actually, you know, WIN, we are looking into a chasm that the country will never claw its way out of.

It's a thin reed that I'm grasping for.  But I don't see any other possibility to avoid horribleness.

Newt is the only one that can get in Obama's face. Romney will submit like a small puppy that just pissed on the rug, and Obama will walk all over him. Willard is soft like Pudding!

Willard may repeal ObamaCare, but nothing will change, he is a NE squish who has socialist tendenicies.

Newt on the other hand is sure to screw this all up after he bends Obama over and plays "daddy" in the back bedroom. He is gonna over think the entire situaiton once he is in, and he'll start cutting deals with the Left thinking he is Reagan, only to get bamboozled and come out of it smelling like yesterday's underwear. Can you image the media over the next 4 years with a Newt Presidency?

And Besides......who in there right mind wants Calista in the White House. Just the sight of her makes me want to explode.

But.....these are our guys! You go to the Race with the Horse you own, and you beat his ass all the way to the finish line if he gets out of the gate too slow. If I had to gamble right now....I'd go with Newt....at least he is an attack dog. Like Rush says you can't win anything by playing defense, and Newt seems to not be affraid to throw Right Hooks at the Commies.......that's worth a few gold stars on the report card in my classroom.

Moving to Alaska soon mike?

They will eat you when you're walking through the door....

They will eat you when you're lying on the floor....

They will eat you when you're trying to be so good....

93 I can't find it now but there are photos online of the FS releasing a dirty good for nothing bear from a trap. The first thing the bear does, is attack the worker, who orders the driver to go. The bear starts to climb on the truck, and the cage tips over and the worker falls on top of the bear. The bear goes for his head but gets his camera instead. He then starts chomping on the guys leg allowing him to pull his weapon and empty in into the bear. I can't find the link now but it is a good example how the only good bear is a dead bear.

94 Take heart, mike. From the looks of the Wiki page, most bears prefer Canuck meat to American. Wear a lot of Hai Karate.

95 The Arkansas F&G service has trapped no less than 2 boar Black Bears within 200 yards of my house within the last 5 years. My cousin lives a couple of hundred yards down the road and has a freezer on his back porch that they find interesting. His wife does not go outside much at night. The last trapped bear was over 250 pounds, and quite a healthy boy. Released him in the Ouachita Nat. Forest I believe.

100 I never thought I'd say this but 'Downfall parody' is REALLY tired and it needs to sleep for a while. Find a NEW meme.
