— Ace I won't keep updating as we already had one thread today and the tallies are likely to keep changing.
What a shock, though, that these late votes being discovered and hand-counted just happen to go to the Democrat.

Just take Wisconsin as an example. In a remarkably good climate, a (R) governor won Wisconsin with 52% of the vote. In a slightly less favorable climate, the (R) judge either won or lost by a handful of votes.
In a Presidential election year with normal turnout, neither of these would be a contest. There was extremely low turnout in Milwaukee. With even 50% turnout in Milwaukee, the (D) wins easily.
The non-Hispanic white population in Wisconsin fell by 1.78% from 2008 to 2010. The corresponding share of the non-Hispanic white electorate fell by around 1.12%, because the minority population is much younger. There is no reason minority populations can't vote (R) but given recent elections, there is no reason to expect them to vote that way.
Obama won Wisconsin by over 400,000 votes in 2008 (out of about 3 million). Just given population changes, we would expect him to win 500,000 if the demographic groups broke the same way. They probably won't exactly but will it be enough to make up 500,000 votes? Nope.
Fraud is just a distraction. The future is about these changes. In 2008, the minority share of the electorate was about 25.5%. In 2012, 28%. In 2016, 31%. In 2020, 34%. This requires no additional immigration, just population aging.

We are not 'doomed' because of brown people. I clearly said there is no reason that minority groups can't vote (R).
All this fraud talk though is about a relatively small amount of votes. Republicans have to convince minority voters to swing to them in order to be viable in future elections. If you would rather ignore that and swing at fraud windmills, good luck.

In NY25 the initial total put the Dem ahead enough for the AP to call it, only to be forced to backtrack on that.
Also last night they "overcounted" 10,000 votes in Dane county.
I will laugh myself silly if they have another overcount- and a correction puts Prosser back in the lead. If they botch stealing this one, muhahahahaha...

Actually, tilting at the fraud windmill might just make some sense in a race with a winning margin of less than a 1,000 out of 1.5 million votes cast. Sure as heck seems a lot more relevant then Professor Pedantic's lecture on long term demographic trends.

Losing that election means:
1. Losing the ability to stop Obamacare
2. Losing the battle on the budget
3. Losing any responsible conclusion to Afghanistan and Iraq
4. Losing the general character and form of US public policy for a more 'social democratic' model of government.
Posted by: Paper at April 06, 2011 07:15 AM (VoSja)
So Prosser is up 800 with 1% left to count and now she's up 350?
That's a pretty big shift considering 1% is about 14,500 votes.
Either way there will be a recount. Even in Prosser ends up ahead. There has to be after that 10,000 vote miscount last night.
Unfortunately we always lose recounts, the only hope I have is Darth Space Khan Reince Prebius will utilitze RNC money to fight during the recount as this is his home state.

The minor fluctuations are probably absentees in the precincts already reported.
5 still outstanding with K up only 311.
according to the liberal swing state project, 3 of those 5 are Prosser precincts.
according to another source at HHR, only Juneu is a K district.
either scenario could leave Prosser barely on top ahead of a recount.

Ok. I get that, but here is how my mind works.
Let's say Prosser wins this election and Walker gets all he wants. How long does it take before it goes right back to how it was? 2012? 2016? This is just my concern. The underlying numbers seem more relevant in battling for the fiscal solvency of Wisconsin (or the nation) than a single election.

Two mainstream news organizations are receiving hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars from Obamacare’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP) — a $5 billion grant program that’s doling out cash to companies, states and labor unions in what the Obama administration considers an effort to pay for health insurance for early retirees. The Washington Post Company raked in $573,217 in taxpayer subsidies and CBS Corporation secured $722,388 worth of Americans’ money.
“It is fine with me if they continue covering the ObamaCare debate,” said Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, in an e-mail to The Daily Caller. “When NBC used to cover energy issues, they identified themselves as a subsidiary of General Electric. CBS and Washington Post just have to disclose that they are subsidiaries of the Obama Administration.”

So the citizens of Wisconsin vote against they best interest by a small margin. The new and improved Wisconsin Supreme's invalidate the law, and 1500+ unionized workers join the unemployment line.
Without a doubt, the citizens will bitch and moan about the lack of services after the layoffs, and will continue living in the liberal blue fart cloud of denial.
They will moan it's that mean bastard Walker and his criminals in the State House that screwed the citizens of Wisconsin.

This is why people who can't seem to understand the numbers shouldn't comment on them. This election was like a midterm election, meaning low turnout among minority voters, young voters, etc.
If just Milwaukee had turned out anything like a normal Presidential election cycle, there would have no race at all.

"Court Race May Come Down to the Town of Lake Mills (Updated)
Randy Radtke
Managing Editor
With fewer than 200 votes separating incumbent Supreme Court Justice David Prosser and his challenger assistant attorney general JoAnne Kloppenburg, the election outcome could be affected by the Town of Lake Mills where all the votes have not yet been counted.
Because of problems with its tally seats, the township has not officially reported any vote tallies as of yet to Jefferson County and that means that between 700 and 760 votes have not been entered in the statewide totals for a seat on the stateÂ’s highest court."
If this is the case... Lake Mills is a red town. (pulled from HHR)

Your comment about turnout in this election is so far off it's not funny. I *live* in WI and voted yesterday. Turnout was *huuuge*. As big as the election last november in my district at least. My friend had a bigger turnout in his district than the last presidential election. HUGE turnout, especially for a spring election.

Part of that is true, but there were only 1.5 million votes in this election. There were 2.9 million in the Presidential election in 2008 in Wisconsin. The lowest turnout areas and demographics were strongly (D). Milwaukee in particular had very, very low turnout.
This is a strong sign that the Republicans in Wisconsin are doing an amazing job. Their strongly motivated base in now equal to the (D) base, and we should be really proud that happened in a state like Wisconsin. That said, it doesn't mean that we should look for Wisconsin to swing (R) in a Presidential election anytime soon.

We often read stories about people who did not vote in election X finding out months after the election that they indeed "voted". Couldn't Prosser's people or Swing State Project put out some call to urge conservative people in very liberal districts to find out today if their non-voting relatives/neighbors voted, so that the fraud can be unmasked today rather than months down the road?

You don't know what you are talking about. 1.5 million votes for this election. 3 million for the last Presidential election in Wisconsin.
I'm using verifiable facts; you are using you and your friend's experiences at the poll.

Swing State Project is a liberal group.
Their data though is good. They really pride themselves on accuracy even if it means their side is losing a race.
But don't expect them to organize for the conservatives.

Just as I predicted. In close elections, Democrats cheat. Always.
Posted by: Harry Reid at April 06, 2011 11:51 AM (ihSHD)
Why limit their cheating to close races? To keep up their game, they ought to cheat in all races, close or not. That way, when an occasional close race comes up, they've got a full arsenal of tried and tested tricks to draw upon.

See, people who don't live swathed in blue don't understand - the fact that this blue, blue state, with all the unions going crazy . . . the fact that the very Dem votes of WI made this a nailbiter is A VERY GOOD THING.
Absolutely! If Jim Edgar had come out of retirement to run against Rahm in the Chicago mayoral, and had only gotten 45% of the vote, I'd have beeen a champagne-drinkin fool,

wow looking at the numbers I can see your point, numbers don't lie I always say and I use numbers when debating why the right is right (no pun intended) most of the time. I disagree on WI not going red in a Presidential cycle anytime soon, though because of it's History I would say the Dems will have the advantage there come 2012. The state almost voted for Dubya in 00 and in 04, and cases of Dems slashing Rep buses' tires showed up in the 04 election there. So they've almost gone red, but of course WI is not OH or FL and though it is a competitive state the fact is they have leaned blue since 1988, and trends are hard to break. (just ask the GOP about MN or the Dems about the Dakotas)

I think the folks in Wisconsin have done an amazing job, and they deserve an incredible amount of respect for what they have done.
The cesspool there though won't be cleaned in one or two election cycles, and with the other demographic changes, it is going to be a slog for a very long time.

Except for federal elections, where the federal government obviously has an interest. Article 5, section 1 grants Congress that power; considering that they can "judge the elections, returns, and qualifications" of their own membership, it seems to me that they can enact a national voter ID law and forbid the seating of any representatives or senators from states that do not ensure the qualifications of its voters. This would also naturally apply to presidential elections as well as state and local elections because it's extremely unwieldy for a state to develop two different registration systems (one for state/local elections and one for federal elections).

Good job predicting that a flaming liberal would win an election in the Birthplace of Progressivism. I'm impressed. Really. How did such a kooky idea even occur to you, and how did you have the courage, the fortitude, to publicize this controversial concept?

i'm someone who repeated other peoples' predictions ad nauseum, and then put a spin on them to proclaim that democrats getting thrashed nationwide as some sort of minor sound and fury-signifying nothing, and then later jacking off over a judicial race in Wisconsin like it owes me money and that the conservative agenda is dead again.
and, as usual, when the actual political consequences of this latest election in no way resemble my predictions, i will be nowhere to be found..

Except that we know they are not fairly honest. See Coleman, Minnesota 2008. And every other election where ballots were 'discovered' that went for the liberal. Or races where the Democrats try to do things like suppress military ballots.
Conservatives and Republicans are most often the losers of these races, and do not act out violently. The liberals will act out violently whether it was fair or not. Just like a dog sniffing its own shit and eating its own vomit, that is what liberals do.

This is a very good point, and there is a lot of truth in this. We'll get to see how this works out in 2012 a bit I imagine.
Obama's election though showed that mobilizing non-white voters can be a path to victory. He lost white voters by about 11.5 million votes and won non-white voters by about 21 million votes. McCain still received millions of votes from non-white voters, but the overall trend is powerful.
At this point, it looks like Obama will have at least a 21-23 million gap in non-white voters in the 2012 election. It could be much higher if turnout of young minority voters is high (especially Hispanics ages 18-25).
This is why someone like Rubio (or other candidates) could be so important in forming a narrative for Hispanics to vote (R).

No, you're someone who consistently over-predicted the results from Democrats and only changes your position to being more reasonable when your previous one becomes absolutely untenable--you consistently predicted the Republicans wouldn't do as well in the House as they did. You predicted Russ Feingold would win out in November. You predicted Kloppenburg would win by 3%.
That's beside the fact you always spin every contest as a negative for Republicans, only play up defeats for Republicans, and only focus on contests where Republicans do badly (cf., again, the Russ Feingold race, which you consistently blabbed about but then suddenly shut up about for some reason when he tanked).
Even if you're not a moby, you're clearly a troll...though I'd lean towards moby.

Scott Walker is now a 4 year lame duck because he didn't have the balls to pass a photo ID law immediately after he took office. Do you think there aren't 300-500 "votes" that would not have been cast for Kloppy if that law was in effect. That's the reality of the situation.

Another thing to consider, there was more television advertising money spent promoting Prosser than opposing Prosser. We didn't lose that battle.
We are going to have a money advantage in 2012 as well most likely thanks to the Supreme Court overturning the CFR laws. It would be ironic if McCain turned out to be the Presidential candidate most hurt by his own law.

The race between Justice David Prosser and challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg was officially too close to call, but unofficially, JoAnne Kloppenburg has earned at least a 219-vote edge.
Jefferson County Clerk Barbara Cook told Newsradio 620 WTMJ that Prosser had received 366 votes in the final municipality to report, the Town of Lake Mills, while Kloppenburg had 364 votes, with 24 hand-written votes yet to be counted.
