— Ace Yes, they keep changing their positions. That indicates a flip-flop. But the more important thing, it seems, is that it keeps revealing how hollow, callow, naive and glib all their previous positions were; how superficial and poorly considered; how cheaply political their unending "everything Bush does is wrong" partisan seditions were; how their childish and empty their previous fantasias were.
We keep hearing from this crew how hard presidentin' is and how they must be given some leeway.
Attorney General Eric Holder today will announce that self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad will be tried in a military commission, the CBS News Investigative Unit has learned. A source says the commission will be held at the Guantanamo Bay prison.
So glib. So glib. Everything before was so easy and all the answers were so obvious.

Shorter version: Bush was absolutely right, across the board. Obama was absolutely wrong, also across the board.
And it took Obama three years (counting the campaign) and change to figure that out.
Towering intellect, indeed.

This puts the chance of the left offering any substantive self-critique and evaluation at around none. Hence, how the leftists manage to maintain their lefty-think: no critical thinking, just don't think about it, just do... yes we can.

(c) Now that barry has improved our image in the muslim world this will not be used as a terrorist recruiting tool

I think the most interesting observation is that each time Obama flips (and he's done it a lot) the liberals do not go crazy. They simply accept his new position, and have no problem with it.

These trials should wrap up around the fall of 2012.
Consider, for a moment, how retarded these clowns are.
After sanctimoniously preening about fair trials in the American criminal justice system, etc. they're now plumping for military tribunals. On top of that, they've already pronounced KSM guilty and said that even if he's acquitted, they won't release him.
WTF? So now either:
1) he's convicted, and all the Turd World and European shitheads will scream, interpreting the outcome as a put-up job by a kangaroo court, and our own leftards will howl that he's not on the Ayers plan, or
2) he's acquitted, but kept in the slam ... uh ... forever, despite formally not being found guilty of anything. (Good thing he was acquitted, eh?) Turd World and European shitheads will again scream that an "innocent" man is in the jug, our own leftards, while pleased at the breakdown in the justice system, will howl that he's kept in custody.
So Team Obama has neatly painted themselves into a corner by virtue of not thinking things through before quacking. Should've just let the military tribunals proceed in the first place, and of course just STFU about the likelihood of acquittal, and what they'd do in that case.
And these assholes are lawyers? Seriously? People who watch Law and Order reruns know better than to avoid the appearance of prejudicing the outcome of a criminal trial.

feb 10, 2010 the new yorker;
Holder, who had jokingly lamented that such perks wouldn’t last forever—“I’m missing it already!”—sat down, put on headphones, and blasted one of his favorite songs, Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze.” Holder, who is fifty-nine, seemed determined not to let the tensions of Washington politics poison his mood. He was equally determined not to capitulate on the idea of holding a 9/11 trial. “I don’t apologize for what I’ve done,” he told me at one point. “History will show that the decisions we’ve made are the right ones.” Holder said that he regarded trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a courtroom as “the defining event of my time as Attorney General.” But, he added, “between now and then I suspect we’re in for some interesting times'Posted by: willow at April 04, 2011 09:51 AM (h+qn8)

2. ?
They get ugly and he sides with them anyway. Non-specific language is a funny thing.

@7: "When Obama is hopefully evicted from the White House I hope to never see or hear him ever again."
To quote Bender Bending Rodriguez: "Oh, wait; you're serious. In that case, let me laugh even harder!" We can't even not-see and/or not-hear from Jimmy Carter, and that dude's been out of the White House for 30 years. The Messiah will be a fixture for decades to come.

Glad to see this happen, obviously, but the hypocrisy is infurating, as usual. They were so secure, so arrogant in badmouthing EVERYTHING Bush did, with complete impunity from any searching examination of whether they really had a better alternative, or were just opting for cheap demagoguing.
The sarcasm and scorn if Bush had backtracked like this on one of his positions would be unrelenting. On the flip side, Bush told a small group of conservative media types circa 2008 not to fear - no matter who was elected, when he or she was confronted with the reality of the situation - not much would change. Yeah, W was the idiot, sure.

MSM 2004: Bush to try KSM in military tribunal at Gitmo... illegal and idiotic!
MSM 2011: Obama to try KSM in military tribunal at Gitmo... brilliant leaddership!

@58: "Notice how he always manages to end up continuing Bush's policies, without actually saying "I WAS WRONG"."
That's one of the advantages of being a god - no matter what you do, you're never wrong. It's like Al Pacino said in Donnie Brasco: "A wiseguy's always right. Even when he's wrong, he's right."

@109: "There's only one group that has such fragile temperaments that they have to riot whenever people do something they don't like."
Why does everyone assume they have a "fragile temprament"? Given that the riots tend to be highly organized and not spontaneous, feature a lot of sloganeering in English, and are very Western-media friendly (despite the occasional assault/rape), and given that the West *ALWAYS* caves and offers up concessions, it's pretty clear that rioting and killing is a very effective method of communication/negotiation. Thin-skinned or not, their strategy works really, really well.

@121: "Q: What is going to happen to KayInMaine's worldview when she burns her cross and no Christians kill anybody?"
She'll declare victory and be hailed by Leftists the world over for her courageous, nay, valiant stand against Reichwing racist Xtianism.

Over at Volokh Conspiracy, they argued the KSM issue at some decibels. Anybody who thought a trial in Manhattan was a bad idea was seven kinds of dumb.
Be interesting to see how people who argued that--most likely because it contradicted what Bush wanted instead of what was a good/bad idea--will be doing to reclaim being on the right side.
Ignoring it, is my guess.

Just had to share an exchange found on Daily Kooks. I went over there to see the reaction of the loons to O's reelection kickoff and the KSM trial announcements. (BTW, couldn't find a main page post on either of these...wtf?).
Anyway, on a KSM thread:
Kook #1: "Here's something I'd like to know: Is there anyone out there who both a) defended the Obama DOJ's original decision to try KSM in a civilian trial, and b) defends the Obama DOJ's reversal now? If so, what possible rationale is there for it?"
Reply by Kook #2: "That's a rhetorical question, right?" You just can't make this stuff up.
