Holder: Gee, I Guess We Should Try KSM In A Military Tribunal

Yes, they keep changing their positions. That indicates a flip-flop. But the more important thing, it seems, is that it keeps revealing how hollow, callow, naive and glib all their previous positions were; how superficial and poorly considered; how cheaply political their unending "everything Bush does is wrong" partisan seditions were; how their childish and empty their previous fantasias were.

We keep hearing from this crew how hard presidentin' is and how they must be given some leeway.

If only they'd appreciated the difficulties of presidential power while they were insisting we give it to them.

Attorney General Eric Holder today will announce that self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad will be tried in a military commission, the CBS News Investigative Unit has learned. A source says the commission will be held at the Guantanamo Bay prison.

So glib. So glib. Everything before was so easy and all the answers were so obvious.

WTF? So now either:

2) he's acquitted, but kept in the slam ... uh ... forever, despite formally not being found guilty of anything. (Good thing he was acquitted, eh?) So Team Obama has neatly painted themselves into a corner by virtue of not thinking things through before quacking. Should've just let the military tribunals proceed in the first place, and of course just STFU about the likelihood of acquittal, and what they'd do in that case.

Given that the riots tend to be highly organized and not spontaneous, feature a lot of sloganeering in English, and are very Western-media friendly (despite the occasional assault/rape), and given that the West *ALWAYS* caves and offers up concessions, it's pretty clear that rioting and killing is a very effective method of communication/negotiation. Thin-skinned or not, their strategy works really, really well.

Be interesting to see how people who argued that--most likely because it contradicted what Bush wanted instead of what was a good/bad idea--will be doing to reclaim being on the right side.

Just had to share an exchange found on Daily Kooks. I went over there to see the reaction of the loons to O's reelection kickoff and the KSM trial announcements. (BTW, couldn't find a main page post on either of these...wtf?).

Anyway, on a KSM thread:

Kook #1: "Here's something I'd like to know: Is there anyone out there who both a) defended the Obama DOJ's original decision to try KSM in a civilian trial, and b) defends the Obama DOJ's reversal now? If so, what possible rationale is there for it?"

Reply by Kook #2: "That's a rhetorical question, right?" You just can't make this stuff up.
