House To Hold Hearings on Solyndra Collapse Next Week
— Ace

Created some jobs for House investigators, at least.

The House Energy and Commerce CommitteeÂ’s investigative panel announced it will hold hearings next Wednesday on the governmentÂ’s Solyndra loan. ABC News and iWatch News have also learned that Senate investigators have begun seeking answers from the administration about the deal.

“How did this company, without maybe the best economic plan, all of a sudden get to the head of the line?” said committee chairman Rep. Fred Upton, R.-Michigan, in an ABC News interview last week. “We want to know who made this decision . . . and we’re not going to stop until we get those answers.”

How did they jump to the head of the line? Oh, who could possibly answer such a question.

According to White House visitor logs, between March 12, 2009, and April 14, 2011, Solyndra officials and investors made no fewer than 20 trips to the West Wing. In the week before the administration awarded Solyndra with the first-ever alternative energy loan guarantee on March 20, four separate visits were logged.

George Kaiser, who has in the past been labeled a major Solyndra investor as well as a Obama donor, made three visits to the White House on March 12, 2009, and one on March 13. Kaiser has denied any direct involvement in the Solyndra deal and through a statement from his foundation said he “did not participate in any discussions with the U.S. government regarding the loan.”

But the countless meetings at the White House seem hardly coincidental. Kaiser, in fact, is responsible for 16 of the 20 meetings that showed up on the White House logs.

$6.00 to procude a unit at Solyndra

$3.00 is the price Solyndra sells the unit for

$2.00 price of unit as sold by chinese companies.

Only the federal government would see this as a good investment.

So not only are they losing 50% per unit, they're still 33% more costly than their competitors

30 What is also very interesting is the fact that the FBI raid took place today.......on a day when no White House press briefing was scheduled due to the SCOAMF joint session speech.  This effectively insures there will be no questions regarding the raid in the next few days.  All the questions from the press tomorrow will be in reference to the SCOAMF speech.  The raid will be all but forgotten.

To the Obama administration and the politically connected investors / donors it probably sounded like a great deal:

$6.00 to produce - $4.00 taxpayer subsidy = $2.00 cost to produce.

$3.00 sale price - $2.00 cost = $1.00 profit.

Have a problem with the subsidy?  That's only because you hate the unemployed.

They wait patiently for Sparky's poll numbers to tank (they did) and then have their people pull the cord. They control the evidence and leak it slowly to the WAPO who plays it like a Pulitzer. My guess is Sparky has been played magnificently by the Arkansas mob and knows it. If you see a change in the WH Chief of Staff you know its them. Just sayin. The one thing Washington movers and shakers can't stand is to be doubted and humilated on their privlidege positions. Sparky endangers their perch and they don't like it. The fix is in.

DOE is separate from DOJ. FBI are a trusted and very independent agency. Holder has no way to make the FBI disappear evidence. The fix is in. Establishment dems want Sparky out and Hillary in. This is what is cooking. They need a scandal to leverage it with the base.

As an agency, yes. I can't speak to the actions of individual agents who may or may not be induced to proceed with their superior's orders. And I imagine evidence could be sequestered in some manner which is to say not technically hidden or destroyed but placed in status wherein the contents cannot be viewed or accessed in a timely manner. How long can evidence be hidden from the Issa committee? Perhaps just long enough. Antipathy of future politicians and the legal apparatus can surely rise.

Posted by: Enemedia at September 08, 2011 01:00 PM (aD5Kx)

96 @ 83, 85.  By Almighty GOD I hope you guys are right, but no, you are not.  Seriously, the WAPO is going to turn against the stuttering cluster?  I doubt it.  None of the main stream media are going to turn against Barky.  The only way I can see them turning against the Won is when we're about 30 days prior to the election and His poll numbers clearly show a landslide for the Repubs.  They might (and I mean MIGHT) begin to turn and start catching up on some of these scandals - just in an attempt to get back some measure of integrity with their readers.  But, at that point, they have nothing to lose.  Until then - forget it.

My point is his denial of discussing a loan may be true....but irrelevant. Nobody has alleged a government loan. Guarantee is a very different thing from a loan semantically. Posted by: dbone

Huh?

"The $535 million loan to Solyndra Inc., issued by the U.S. Department of Treasury's Federal Financing Bank, included a quarterly interest rate of 1.025 percent, the government bank reported in July."

So is this some kind of philosophical exercise; when is a loan not a loan?

Its not about the country, its about Hillary. She ain't getting any younger and they needed to find a way of staging her coronation without offending the blacks. This means of course that pubbies will be blamed for crushing Sparky's legacy and re-election. My guess is they pump the info through WAPO and a certain investigating Congressman.

104 sven10077: "the media will eventually have to cover it if enough letters to the editor get through

I really hope you're right, but we've observed the outcome of Fast & Furious. That, for example, would normally be an impeachable offense if not outright criminal. The bulk of the media exercises a good bit of amnesia and disregard for that scandal. Maybe momentum will build and there will be a political cost to the administration with the drip-drip of the investigation, but the outcry should be much more acute and vocal at this point.

The question is which story should attract more attention... a corrupt loan during economic Armageddon or an exacerbated interstate drug war wherein Mexicans and Americans are needlessly killed in a backdoor effort to assault the 2nd Amdt via crisis. I'm inclined to think the latter more impactful and "sexy." And it's not being covered nearly as much as it should.

After reading some of the comments, I'll just add that this may be the result of the old Cloward-Piven philosophy.  There's only so many scandals that can be investigated at one time.  This regime is NOT a law-abiding regime.  Laws mean nothing to them.  We've seen this ever since 2009.

We must also remember that the left (dems) have no morals.  They have no shame.

116 Why offer up an IPO, when all you have to do is, put the touch on the most ignorant president evah?.. One that can't even read a financial statement.

An article from way back in June, 2010

Solyndra just announced that it has submitted a request with the SEC to withdraw its Registration Statement Form S-1.  The company has decided not to proceed with an IPO of shares of its common stock at this time "due to adverse market conditions" and the availability of alternative funding from existing investors.

With strong solar demand, positive policy and strong public sentiment -- we wonder what those "adverse market conditions" happen to be....

Conclusion: when everything is in the shit-can,people are unemployed, people are on food-stamps like never before, the president and his fat-assed wife keep doing the vacation, eating whatever they want, scolding everyone else, pinning economic failure on jet owners, somehow, somewhere, even the most deceived can see the picture.

I agree. Not just plausible but likely. If you do something, do it big. One crisis is easy to assault and the opposition can direct resources. Many crises and that tactic won't work. The molehill of a story cannot be turned into a mountain because there's a field of molehills diluting the attack. And even if just one molehill is getting assaulted, all the corruption of the other molehills continues unabated... so the Cloward-Pivens win all of the other battles. It's sort of a worst-case scenario where even if you take one step back, you take a bunch of steps forward elsewhere.

And we know Obama is a Cloward-Pivenite.

Front Toward Left is right. Define for yourself only those conditions in which you are willing to use the gun. Run them through you mind, over and over, till they are ingrained. All else goes to default. Then you don't have to think about it. For me, in my home, it is an armed intruder who by word or act threatens us. Second,..I won't be tied up, or let my wife be tied...period...even if under a gun.  Outside the home it gets a little more dicey legally.

Yeah, all they would need is a little cover from the gov't on the labeling issue. After all, it would certainly be fraudulent to label a Chinese-made product as Made in USA.

Of course, profitability wasn't the point. Not only do the cronys get to loot the company kitty, they also get to write off the huge business losses on their taxes.
