— Gabriel Malor Yesterday presidential candidate Jon Huntsman spoke to the enviroconservative group 'Republicans for Environmental Protection.' Huntsman was vague on specifics, but he sounded an awful lot like he was on the other side of this issue from most Republicans:

"Conservation is conservative."
"We will be judged by how well we were stewards of those (natural) resources," said Huntsman, a veteran of three Republican administrations who until this spring was President Barack Obama's ambassador to China."Conservation is conservative. I'm not ashamed to be a conservationist. I also believe that science should be driving our discussions on climate change," he added.
These aren't controversial remarks. If Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Rick Perry and said them, we probably wouldn't think much of it. If they said they want science to drive the "climate change" discussion we would all hear a clear subtext: "Real science, not the ever-collapsing and ever-rebutted "science" of alarmists whose models do not actually model reality."
But for a candidate who already has the far Left of the Republican field staked out, a demand to respect "the science" sound an awful lot like what we hear every day from global warming researchers facing investigations for scientific misconduct. It's not likely to help Huntsman pick up votes. Which leads one to wonder why he said it.

Pataki (justy getting into the race) is on the same side of the glow-bull worming "debate" as Huntsman....
The Republican field is going to be interesting for New Hampshire, Iowa and beyond....
By cluttering up the field with more than a dozen candidates, the results will be greatly skewed by dilution.....

That's deep.
This guy is sure to make a long run into primary season behind the power of Christine Todd Whitman, Tattoo De Plane, and Chris Shays forceful and all important endorsements.

Saw a link on Drudge yesterday, that now NASA has come up with research showing global warming is crap. Just last year, NASA's scientists were agreeing with the global warming hoax.
Start looking for all those scientists who went along with the scam, to now all of a sudden start discovering "new" research that refutes it, to cover their asses.

Yeah, conservationism doesn't have the same negative connotation for me as environmentalism. OTOH, what does Huntsman think the Federal government's role is in that? Or government's role in general?
I prefer the model where you have private, local/regional conservancy groups. Let people in the communities prioritize conservation versus development.
Huntsman is such a non-starter it's not even funny.

There was talk about how Huntsman was expanding his foreign policy cred's for a 2012 run against Obama. Anyone who thought that makes sense is FUCKING RETARDED! Well in 1862 I wanted to be the commanding general of union forces, so I became Burnsides aide de camp.
Insiders are fucking stupid, and so is huntsman.

Ergo, he these are his real beliefs and he's just throwing it out there and if it hurts him, so be it. That makes me respect the guy a little bit. I just can't work up a white hot hate for Huntsman like I can for some tool bag that pretends to be the next coming of Barry Goldwater (old Barry, not post-wife dying off the rails Barry) and then gets elected and proceeds to fuck us with something like TARP.

When his name first floated, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But the more I read about him - and spoke with my fellow Utahns (I moved here last summer) - the more convinced I become that he's a raging asshat. Huntsman Sr. is, by all accounts, a great man. Junior - and his mom - has a reputation as being a spiteful piece of work.
This run is about two things: an attempt to hurt Mitt, whom he loathes, and a gambit for a VP slot. The guy's been appointed to virtually every job he's held (and one could make the case that the governorship was practically handed to him given his family connections). That's his pattern.

Jon Huntsman 0.28% (27 votes) of 9587 total votes.
Umm, it was your own poll Gabe. A Huntsman post? How about something more about the dumbass trying to kill Ft. Hood soldiers. Kinda more newsworthy than this.
Posted by: dogfish at July 29, 2011 04:42 AM (N2yhW)
Hell, I use the line that the first part of conservatism is conserve all the time.
The point was made above that, if it were Christie or someone well known as a conservative, it wouldn't be an issue. Since Huntsman is a RINO, it's just a dog-whistle to independents and Dems.
Myself, I'm a John Muir/Teddy Roosevelt conservationist. I'm not an environmentalist. There's a difference.
Odds are better than even that Huntsman is an environmentalist - thereby disqualifying him as a serious "conservtive" contender.

Minor correction here: the data was from NASA, but NASA scientists made no such claims with it. It was climate "skeptics" at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, who have previously debunked many of the tenets of global warming.

Look. ItÂ’s easy. Just follow the logic. If jobs existed, they wouldnÂ’t have to be created, right? If jobs were not in peril, they wouldnÂ’t have to be saved. So. Destroy jobs so you can create them, any remaining jobs you put in peril so there is at least an outside chance that you can save them. Get it?

It is so easy to debunk complex scientific data. Anybody can pore over a large amount of data and find small discrepancies and problems.
It is so typical of you Republicans that you ignore the obvious warming of the earth (just look around and check your thermometers!) and instead fight against all of those people trying to protect YOU from yourselves.
When the oceans rise and the planet can't feed itself anymore and people begin to die from the pollution that you spew into the atmosphere, then maybe you will notice. But I doubt it.
Shame on you!
