The headline's real. A rag called the Montreal Gazette actually published that headline.
A lot of people are asking if Britain should get their gun rights back.
Some of them even are British.

BTW, the cops claim there was no order given to sit on their hands and do nothing.
I think they're lying, possibly covering for the mayor or something, or their own do-nothing leadership, and it will take a serious investigation to shake them off that lie.

There was a famous case in Britain a few years ago where a farmer shot at some burglars but in the end, it was the farmer who was deemed the criminal and had to pay some kind of restitution to the burglars and their families. The first one went through ROTC at Mississippi State University and got her commission in 1999. Right now she is a Major and in Paris France. She just gratuated from DLI in Monterey.
The younger one is a TSGT, she enlisted on June 11, 2011 and was in Lackland during 911.
Both have been deployed several times, the worst one was when both of them were in Iraq at the same time, one in Bagdad and one in Kirkuk

I know crap but since I'm moving to South Korea, I've thought of the scenario.
1. As it looks like attack is going to happen, surprise attack first. Hundreds of rockets fired into China's existing 14 nuclear power plants with the goal of creating nuclear disasters. Make it a real crappy day one for the Chinese....
2. I'd like to see thousands of missiles fired at the Three Gorges Dam.
3. Thousands of missiles used to completely destroy the Great Wall of China
4. Thousands of missiles used to destroy the Terracotta Army
5. Obviously, target the government people first.
That would be day one.
If nuclear weapons are available and no country answers our calls for aid and everything looks lost.
1. Nuke both the North and South poles
2. Set off nukes in the oceans with the goals of creating tsunamis both around China and the rest of the world.
3. Nuke Mecca and blame it on the West.
And then go from there.

Hypothetically, if one were to get a firearm to protect one's self and property, what would be the way to go? I'm thinking of a pump shotgun and semi automatic hand gun combo. But what do I know. I have shot several types of guns but only minimally just to try it out with friends that owned them. Of course the right gun/combo would have to include the right training. Not to mention sifting through local laws.
Knives I've got covered. If it's sharp I can put it where it needs to go. I once put a 4 inch nail in a guys face under the eye from 20 feet away. Of course that skill is better suited for the movies and not the reality we are seeing over the pond.
Regarding the cricket paddle, if you swing it with the thin side at someone it could be effective.
BTW I was in line at Walmart earlier and the guy ahead of me turned to his buddy and said "Did you know that Obama is a studdering clusterfuck of a miserable failure?"

If you're cost-sensitive, stick with Remington and Mossberg. You can pick up a Mossy 500 A for around 300 -350, cheaper used. Just buy plain Jane, then make it as "tacti-cool" as you want with pistol grips or magazine extensions or white lights or recoil reducing stocks or whatever.
The point is, your initial outlay for the firearm - plus some defensive ammo for it - will immediately provide you with a tool that will do the job.
Make it reflective of your individual defense profile as you go.

These accessories can be, but are not limited to: lights, lasers, shell carriers, pistol grips, extended magazine tubes, reflex or red-dot sights, and so on. Some of these accessories can improve the ability to shoot well under stress, if proper training has been conducted. Most of the time, they're there for the "cool" appearance. That's not to say that the "Tommy Tactical" guys can't shoot, but most that I've met like buying toys more than practice. A stock 12 ga. pump SG, in the hands of a shooter who practices their "Oh Shit" shooting is more than enough in 99% of those bad situations. 00 buck is persuasive at any volume; delivery is the issue, not appearances.

Maintain minimum barrel length of 16" (I think, but won't swear to), and overall length of 24" (same disclaimer applies), and you've got a plain old "cruiser" shotgun. Mossberg sells one in this config, and you don't have to do any sawing. Anything shorter than these length specs (check them, don't trust me) requires an ATF stamp and ~6 month wait to own, as it qualifies as an AOW (any other weapon, e.g. not a short-barreled rifle, suppressor, destructive device).

The ballistics are poor for .410 - they'll ruin somebody's day, but aren't incident-enders against a determined assailant. The Judge is most effective using .45LC, but you can get the same or better terminal ballistics from any revolver chambered in .357 or larger (or even .38spl+P). Also, it should be noted that NO handgun round is a one-shot fight-stopper, period. Pick one you like, and learn to put holes where holes need to be. Even .45acp, 10mm, and the massive .44mag are not instantaneous deathrays. Pistols aren't magic.

If you carry, you need to understand that the first time you pull, and probably, statistically, the ONLY time you'll pull, is from behind a rack of Cheetos with some madman emptying his clip in your general direction. You'll be shaking, scared, and the gun is secondary to the amount of training you've had.
Buy something comfortable, then train, train, train, then go train and train some more. Training will keep you alive, not the pistol.

You can, but guns, much like cars, computers, guitars, appliances, and pretty much everything else with a devoted following attract fans who want to sell them, but don't know them. Call it the "Bubba Factor". If you're looking for good instruction, start here. They're very credible, and often have courses tailored to women, new shooters, or often both, if there's enough interest in the area. I cannot emphasize enough that if you learn good technique and habits from the outset, you'll be outshooting the bubbas in a matter of weeks, and will progress far beyond their abilities in the future.

So, it offended some people and I apologized. BTW, I learned a lesson to always check any link before I post it anywhere. I'm actually totally paranoid about it now.

Knives, machetes, axes, samurai swords.
Tasers, pepper sprays.
Converted 'Brockock' starting pistols re-chambered to fire live rounds
Revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
Shotguns (being England they tend to be double barrelled rather than pump action, but we can live in hope)
Military grade semi- and fully-automatic weapons including AK47's, MAC 10 SMG's, and even a WW2 vintage Sten gun.
The above list is by no means exhaustive, does not include 'ad hoc' weaponry such as bricks, bottles and attack dogs.
And, as you can see, its all working out spiffingly.
