— JohnE. The Daily Caller caught up with Eric Holder to get his reaction to the growing list of members of Congress that are calling for his resignation (52 as of today). Holder's response was to demand that the Daily Caller stop publishing articles about it. Just in case you think I might be exaggerating by saying "demanded", check out this picture.
As Holder’s aide was escorting the attorney general offstage following his remarks Tuesday afternoon at the White House, a Daily Caller reporter introduced himself and shook Holder’s hand. The reporter asked him for a response to the growing chorus of federal legislators demanding his resignation.Holder stepped towards the exit, then turned around, stepped back toward the reporter, and sternly said, “You guys need to — you need to stop this. It’s not an organic thing that’s just happening. You guys are behind it.”
So, mystery solved. Audio of the exchange is below the fold.
Meanwhile, Fox News reported today that the whisteblowers that testified before Congress are seeing some retaliation from the Justice Department. More on that here.
"The only people who have been damaged from Fast and Furious, short of the obvious victims, are the people who tried to tell truth and blew the whistle," Dobyns said.Dodson was told he was toxic and could no longer work in Phoenix. With sole custody of two teenagers and under water on his house mortgage, Dodson found himself with no place to be and nowhere to go.
A supervisor suggested he'd be treated fairly at an office in South Carolina. Wanting to keep his job, protect his pension and pay the mortgage, Dodson had no other choice. He and his family now live in a small apartment, facing financial troubles, still labeled persona non grata by the very agency he carries a badge for, and regularly assaulted by leaks from "ATF sources at headquarters."
Dodson has tried to remain out of the public eye, has not filed suit and says only that he wishes to return to his work as an ATF agent.
The White House's Thanksgiving visitor log document dump produced some interesting names, including Rachel Maddow and convicted felon Robert Creamer. Doug Ross dug a little deeper into the data and found four face-to-face meetings between President Obama and Deputy Attorney General Gary Grindler:
Item 1: In March of 2011, President Obama denied knowledge of 'Operation Fast and Furious' -- the Justice Department program that sent thousands of murder weapons to Mexican drug cartels. Also today: The Obama Administration has sealed all records relating to Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's murder.Item 2: According to documents obtained by the House Judiciary Committee, Deputy Attorney General Gary Grindler was keenly aware of all aspects of Operation Fast and Furious as early as March 2010.
Item 3: Newly released White House Visitor Logs list Grindler as having visited the White House 40 times, but only four times with the President himself. All four meetings with the President occurred over a two-week period, between 7 May 2010 and 19 May 2010. According to The Los Angeles Times, these dates just so happened to represent the run-up to "the height of [Operation] Fast and Furious"
The Obama Administration has abruptly sealed court records containing alarming details of how Mexican drug smugglers murdered a U.S. Border patrol agent with a gun connected to a failed federal experiment that allowed firearms to be smuggled into Mexico. This means information will now be kept from the public as well as the media. Could this be a cover-up on the part of the “most transparent” administration in history? After all, the rifle used to kill the federal agent (Brian Terry) last December in Arizona’s Peck Canyon was part of the now infamous Operation Fast and Furious. Conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the disastrous scheme allowed guns to be smuggled into Mexico so they could eventually be traced to drug cartels.
This is how innocent people behave, right?

There is no one between Holder and Breuer. Either Breuer thought this whole thing up by himself or Holder and Obama are involved. Breuer is cooperating with the investigation. Holder may not have known anything about Fast and Furious, but his staff certainly thought that he did - since they sent him memos on the subject.
There is also the matter that a semi auto "AK47" in the US costs about $400 and a full auto black market AK in Mexico costs about $75. The flow of guns had to be subsidized or the Mexican Cartels would never have bought the Fast and Furious weapons.
How is that innocent mistake theory looking now Ace?

Reading about the poor plight of the ATF agent, living in an apt. Having hard times, my inside voice says fuck that mofo. 14 Organic is a very popular word with the libs, isn't it?
Have you ever noticed how specific words suddenly come into vogue with media and other liberals, and then disappear, only to be replaced by a new buzz word? "Robust," "vibrant," now "organic?"
It's almost as if they coordinated their views on a secret list or something.

I would think that if local authorities caught a Fed agent performing an illegal act under state law, they could prosecute, right?
If not, would the Feds have to say there actions were official acts and therefore they had immunity??

I think Ace is just brutally allergenic to conspiracy theories and avoids buying into them at all costs.
I, on the other hand, believe the sole purpose of this operation was an attack on the second amendment and a push towards harsher gun control laws. So far, the more information that comes out, the more it looks like that was the case. Especially the head-smackingly ridiculous testimony of Dianne Feinstein during the hearing when she called for stricter gun laws because of the failure of this program.
These are all just theories so far, though.

RCP has a graph on their front page that compares polling results for all the candidates. What's interesting is that Perry, Cain and to a lesser degree Bachmann all show a sudden rise in the polls, followed almost immediately by a sharp drop.
It looks like it's Newt's turn to climb and fall; you can see the sudden climb, the fall probably won't be long in coming.

Actually it was never going to be difficult to tie Obama directly to the operation.
1. Only the POTUS can change the policy of a federal agency like the ATF - which was done in this case.
2. Because of the financial problem inherent in the operation (US prices for weapons too high to get he Cartels to buy them) there is a clear money trail which leads back to the White House and the stimulus bill - where the funds are set aside to run the operation.
Oh, I'm sorry Ace there I go offering irrefutable forensic evidence again. I denounce myself.

@40: "Does Eric Holder strike you as the type of person to willingly fall on the sword? Not me. I think it's more likely he takes the whole thing down with him."
Not the best plan of action, we must say.

Look at it from his perspective. He's got a family to feed, a pension to worry about, etc. I'm not sure the private sector is begging for employees with former ATF agent experience.

So, what are the odds for Holder? Plane crash, canoe accident, Ft. Marcy Park, or something new?
Aspirin allergy?

Stuck acclerator in a Toyota, battery fire in a Chevy Volt, exploding tire on Ford Explorer, choking on a small game piece in a Happy Meal, shark attack whilst snorkeling, grizzly bear attack whilst on the Appalachian Trail, the possibilites are endless ...

Conducting activism and demanding answers from Holder serves a purpose. Sitting here needling the site hosts, not so much.

Ah, but it is OK for Ace to say snide things about me? Which by the way he has done.
So far there is not even one shred of evidence that this was anything except what I say it was. Not one shred. I have answered every one of Ace's objections to this being the conspiracy it actually was.
If this were in doubt that would be one thing. The truth is the evidence against Anthony Weiner was a lot weaker than the evidence I have pointed out about Fast and Furious. Ace ran with the Weiner story because Weiner was a single person who screwed up. He won't run with this story because it is necessarily a conspiracy situation. Watergate was necessarily a conspiracy situation yet somehow Woodward and Burnstein ran with it.
Things which occur in the real world leave behind evidence of their occurrence because of their interactions with other real world entities. Things which did not occur have no effect, and leave behind no evidence. That is how you tell whether something is real or not. There is considerable circumstantial and forensic evidence that Fast and Furious was a conspiracy at the highest levels of government - that could only be true if that conspiracy actually existed. If it didn't exist there would be zero evidence that it did exist - that is how things work in the real world.

I have known three high ranking CIA officials - they all died of sudden onset brain tumors. Sudden onset brain tumors are pretty far down on the list of causes of death. From the military rule of thumb: once is chance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action, that is enough to raise an eyebrow over.

No prosecutor ever goes into a court case with anything more than a theory- he simply tries to convince the jury that his theory is correct. He does so with evidence. Sometimes there is eye witness testimony - such as Agent Dobson has provided - sometimes there is circumstantial evidence or forensic evidence both of which have been pointed out here. When the defendants are dodging or ignoring subpoenas, stonewalling the investigation and citing the Sgt Shultz defense of "I know nuhsing" it is not a far stretch for any jury to find them guilty.
I think you are correct about Ace's reluctance to go farther.

Allowing him to do that just amounts to a title of nobility."

So why are Holder and Obama getting a pass? POTUS and US Attorney General/ Even then, if they were Republicans they would be gone - especially if they were black Republicans. Remember, the race card only works in the media if your report card shows a D in party affiliation.

Thanks to Ace and the co-bloggers for more coverage on this.
I know they don't agree with my view but I'm with them on "get all the facts out there". Actually we should say truth because the left will pass of complete BS as "fact" (as in the 90% meme that started this whole thing).
Last I heard the next round of hearings is slated for 12/8.
