— Open Blogger Let's all agree that everything Libs do, they do it For The Children™.
Like for instance, when Janet Reno ordered the assault on the Branch Davidian compound, that was For The Children, to protect them from reported abuse -- which made it okay that so many of the children were killed.
Or when Elián González was dragged out of a relative's home at gunpoint and sent back to Castro's Cuba, that was For The Children™ -- we didn't want other Cuban mothers getting the idea that sacrificing their lives to ensure that their children grew up in freedom was a winning strategy.
So let's look at a particular child, shall we, and ask what the Libs ought to do in this case For The Children™. Meet Hamza Ali al-Katib. Strong content warning, graphic photo.
The torture that the prepubescent al-Khatib appears to have been subjected to is unimaginable. His penis was severed, body is covered in bullet holes and cigarette burns, chest is covered in a massive burn mark, neck broken, kneecaps shattered, and face covered in bruises from repeated punches. Al-Khatib was taken into custody while attending an anti-government protest.
Hamza was 13 at the time of his death.
Now, President Obama hasn't deigned to give the American people much of a justification for why he committed US armed forces to the campaign to protect anti-Qaddafi rebels in Libya, but the one time he addressed the subject, he said, “We knew that if we waited one more day, Benghazi, a city nearly the size of Charlotte, could suffer a massacre that would have reverberated across the region and stained the conscience of the world.”
That was back on March 28. Ten days earlier, Syrian security forces opened fire on protesters in Deraa, killing three. That was the start of a pattern of massacre that has snowballed since, claiming well over 1,100 lives -- so far.
And Obama's speech came a full month before Hamza was arrested by Syrian security forces on April 29. He became separated from his parents at a protest in Deraa when the security forces cracked down -- some reports say he was shot and wounded that day before being taken into custody. The authorities were unsympathetic to his parents' frantic attempts to locate him.
His relatives searched for weeks, but failed to find him until eventually they learnt he was being held in a state prison. They then managed to visit him in prison, where he was seen alive and well, but when the family begged the guards to release him on the grounds of his age, their pleas for sympathy backfired."The security forces were angry at us, asking how we found out where Hamza was," one relative said in a television interview. "They were infuriated that we had found him. Then they tortured the poor boy for two days."
And so it was that when his father Ali arrived at the prison on May 21, he was told his son was not in custody but in the nearby hospital.
Rather than being in a ward, however, he was in the morgue.
The massive outrage that Hamza's horrific death caused throughout Syria didn't give the Assad regime pause. In fact, they doubled down on murder and massacre.
Reports from Syrians fleeing to Turkey say that in Jisr al-Shughour, on June 4, troops were ordered to kill all the protesters in the city -- but many refused.
A Syrian security officer who fled with the civilian refugees told the Hürriyet Daily News that they received an order by phone Friday to kill all the protesters in the town.“We received a phone call from the center, and they ordered us to shoot and kill all the protesters,” said Ahmad Gavi, 21, a Syrian soldier who fled to Turkey following the deadly clashes in Jisr Al-Shughour.
“Five soldiers who refused to follow this order were killed immediately in front of me. Then commanders and some soldiers started to shoot each other,” Gavi said. “There were 180 soldiers at the security check post and 120 of them were killed.”
Gavi said he dropped his gun and ran away to Turkey as a refugee. “It was not the protesters who killed the soldiers, it was the commanders who killed them; most of the soldiers ran away with the protesters then,” he said, adding that there are 60 Syrian soldiers in the group that fled to Turkey.
Can America be the world's policeman? No, and maybe we shouldn't be too eager to jump into every conflict that can result in civilian casualties.
But there is a deep hypocrisy to a national policy that says we must use force to remove the Libyan dictator who was already bottled up and no longer causing massive mischief outside Libya, but we mustn't even call outright for the removal of the Syrian dictator who has been causing misery and death throughout the region in conjunction with one of America's most dire enemies, and who is proving every bit as bloodthirsty as his dear Papa, Hafez al-Assad, who in 1982 ordered his army to encircle the town of Hama and obliterate it and its residents with artillery fire.
Even the Arab world sees the depth of depravity of Assad's regime and its murderous actions -- part of a broader pattern of despotic abuses in the region.
An Israeli journalist remarked cynically about two decades ago that the Arab media can easily see a dust particle in the eyes of Israel, and can hardly see a log in the eyes of Arab regimes. In other words, the journalist wanted to expose Arab media hypocrisy, where it ignores the massacres committed by some Arab rulers.Funnily enough, comparing the number of Arab people killed during the wars between Israel and Arab countries with the number of Arabs killed locally, one will notice that Arab dictatorships have killed more people.
I wonder what the aforementioned Israeli journalist would say after seeing what some Arab despots are doing to protesters. I am sure he might put pressure on the Israeli authorities to be harsher with the Palestinian and Lebanese in the future. Sadly enough, some Arab armies and security services have proved to be much more brutal than the Israeli army.
Barack Obama has waited, not one day, but more than 70 days to act against Syria. The massacre that has ensued due to international inaction has truly reverberated across the region and stained the conscience of the world.
Maybe the Libs really don't care about the children -- maybe For The Children™ is a lazy, stupid slogan that they think makes any further thought unnecessary. So the next time a Lib tells you we have to do something because it's For The Children™, ask them what we should have done for Hamza.

I love how Obumbles can insert the country into relatively "safe" skirmishes like in Egypt and Yemen, but he won't touch something politically sensitive like Syria.

True.
Another point: Obama is terrified of Iran, so Syria gets a pass, but Obama wants to look all tall in the saddle and cowboy-like, so he commits the US to what he thinks will be "days, not weeks" in Libya -- and ties up NATO so that it can't deal with Syria even if it becomes absolutely necessary (like if Syria attacks NATO member Turkey).
Another point: Obama justifies the Libyan intervention because inaction would result in a massacre that would stain the conscience of the world. Apparently, however, standing idly by while a 13-year-old is beaten, burned, emasculated and killed doesn't affect Obama's conscience at all.

Remember when he was so proud of the Egypt up-rising (for Democracy!)?
Graphic Vid Allegedly Shows Coptic Christian Girl Being Sexually Assaulted in Order To ‘Islamize Her’
(1) The video was received by a group calling itself “Free Copts”. It shows an incident in which a Coptic Christian girl was sexually abused in an attempt to Islamize her. She belonged to a large and wealthy family of Christian Copts living in Minia in upper Egypt. One of her Muslim neighbours induced her to go to his house. Upon arriving there she was surprised to find a group of young Muslim males. They forced her to go with them to a nearby house. They threatened to kill her if she made any noise or cried for help. They forcibly took her clothes from her and videoed her completely naked next to one of the young men. The plan was to blackmail her into marrying him by informing her and her family that the tape would be made public unless she did so. They also threatened her with the same fate as had befallen another girl not far away, a girl who had been raped by 8 Muslim men, murdered, and had her body dumped in a nearby graveyard. The police and the prosecuting authority let those 8 men go free. The ringleader of the men in this video was supposed to receive a reward of 30,000 Egyptian pounds from a mosque in El Manya if they managed to get the girl to convert to Islam. The four men in the video are habitual criminals who constantly rob the shops and businesses of the Christian Copts.
(2) The girl eventually escaped back to her family. The men then tried to extort money from them.
(3) This is one of the methods Muslims are using to Islamize Egypt — they kidnap young Christian girls, rape them, force them to convert to Islam. Sometimes they are forced to marry old Muslim men who keep them as hostages for their sexual gratification and kill them when they are of no further use.

Cheney and Rumsfeld argued that we should bomb the terrorist training camps and ratlines in Syria, but Condoleeza Rice talked Bush into doing nothing, because she said we need Syria's cooperation to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Potential Syrian cooperation is an idée fixe in the State Department. Our Secretaries of State pursue it the way the Spanish conquistadors tried to find El Dorado.
The Syrians have shown time and again that they don't retaliate against stronger nations. Israel bombed the Syrian nuclear-weapons plant on September 6, 2007, and we carried out an airborne assault in Syria on October 27, 2008.
No retaliation whatsoever from Syria, and its support for terrorism in Iraq petered out. The lesson we should've drawn from that is that Syria needs to be bombed on a regular basis.
The Syrian military can only murder unarmed civilians. Syrians "soldiers" have no stomach for fighting against enemies who can do actual damage.

At first, he calls Jewish ritual "barbaric":
The 47-year-old engaged in an angry exchange with one follower, whom he branded a “moron”, before imploring Jewish people to “stop cutting your babies”.
The debate followed a question by one of his fans called @picknic11 who asked him: “My son is due soon. Do you think I should get him circumstanced? [sic]”
Crowe, who hit the headlines in 2005 when he was charged with second-degree assault in New York after throwing a telephone at a hotel employee, tweeted: “Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect.”
He added: “Many Jewish friends, I love my Jewish friends, I love the apples and the honey and the funny little hats but stop cutting yr babies.
“I will always stand for the perfection of babies, I will always believe in God, not man's interpretation of what God requires.
“Last of it, if u feel it is yr right 2 cut things off yr babies please unfollow and f--- off, I'll take attentive parenting over barbarism.”
But soon thereafter, he reversed himself pretty dramatically:Hollywood star Russell Crowe apologized Friday after an apparent anti-circumcision tirade on Twitter, as a Jewish friend he was exchanging tweets with defended him.
While the friend said the remarks had been blown out of proportion by journalists, the Oscar-winning actor took down a series of entries on his Twitter feed from Thursday, and said he was sorry to anyone he had offended.
"I have a deep and abiding love for all people of all nationalities, I'm very sorry that I have said things on here that have caused distress," he wrote on the microblogging website.
"My personal beliefs aside, I realize that some will interpret this debate as me mocking the rituals and traditions of others. I am very sorry."
Now, someone may have pointed out to him that fellow Australian Mel Gibson had some trouble in Hollywood when he insulted Jews. But I think someone whispered in Crowe's ear, "Russell, you know that Muslims circumcise their sons too."
Whereas insulting Jewish rituals may be harmful to one's Hollywood career, insulting Muslim rituals may be harmful to one's health -- maybe even fatal.

Then I remember videos of 12 year olds slowly hacking off the head of an supposed informant and Palestinian kindergarten ceremonies.
And I also remember that Muslims lie. It's in the Koran.
In any event, I hope Quadafi dies a long, horrible death down the road. With that said, I'm cheering him on now. The longer he stays in and the greater the massacres in Syria, the greater the hypocrisy shows.

Him too. But I want Quadafi to stay alive and kicking as long as possible.
1. As pointed out in the great article, it continues to highlight the hypocrisy between the stated Libyan goal and the reality in Syria.
2. If Quadafi gets killed, Nato gets to declare victory and stop the bombing. I want Quadafi to stay alive to show the weakness of Nato allies without the full committed might of the US. I also want this little inspired circle jerk to end in humiliation for all participants. There's no victory with Quadafi alive.

In Operation Cast Lead, the Israelis faced every single weapon our troops encountered in Iraq: IEDs, EFPs, snipers, booby-trapped buildings, RPG ambushes, etc.
Prior to the mission, the U.S. Marines built a training center in Israel and tought the IDF everything our troops had learned in Iraq.
End result: After month of urban combat--just about the most dangerous kind there is--the IDF had suffered 13 deaths while killing about 600 Hamas terrorists.
Arabs can't fight. It's a cultural thing.

No ground forces, no invasions. Just kill the leaders. Let them pick a new one.
If the new leader causes trouble, then kill him and his family.
Rinse and repeat as often as necessary. Eventually a new leader will decide not to cross us.

The problem for the Assad regime is that they've crossed the line into having their own troops fire on fellow soldiers. When the alternative to fighting is death, almost anyone will fight back, however inept they may be or futile the effort may appear.

Let's not just blame Obama. Like so many bad ideas, this one was partially hatched by a "moderate" Republican. Why are we in Libya, and not Syria? Well, don't forget the Powell Doctrine, which, boiled down, states: Only fight wars you can win at almost no cost.
Moral cause? Forget that. Let's install the thug Marxist Aristide in Haiti. Because it's a good thing? No!! Because we can win, without casualties! Are the Muslim terrorist Bosnians and Croatians deserving of victory? No!! But we can win. Syria might kill a few of our guys. Libya won't. Easy call as to where to go!
