— Ace Also known as "so-so for a second-tier blog."
Keith Olbermann is not in the witness protection program, but he might as well be. His show on Al GoreÂ’s Current TV (AmericaÂ’s least watched network) has lost nearly a third of its viewers in four months.Pretty impressive result for $10 million a year. ThatÂ’s just his salary.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann was a major draw when it was on MSNBC. On January 21, the network took a big hit when Olbermann announced on air that that would be his last show for them. Then in June, Current launched Olbermann and Countdown.
It was no surprise that Olbermann drew a big audience for its early shows - averaging 106,000 viewers a night. Unfortunately, by August it was down to 79,000. Last monthÂ’s numbers were even worse. OlbermannÂ’s average was down to 46,000 viewers and was in no danger of coming close to breaking into the top 30 cable TV news shows.

Mitch McConnell is, perhaps, the ultimate example of the Establishment Republican. Well, except for Mittens.
He doesn't want to beat Obama. All of his hopes and dreams are invested in Obama, too. He wants Obama to be successful- and then to take over the reigns once all power is consolidated in Washington.

"To be fair, even at 46,000 Olbermann is still drawing twice what Current was getting before him. Pre-Olbermann, the network was averaging about 23,000 viewers a day in 2010. That means nationwide they had fewer eyeballs than a CW affiliate does in a mid-sized city. (The 2010 numbers are the most recent because CurrentÂ’s audience is so small that Nielsen only tracks them when the network pays it to and even then the numbers arenÂ’t given to the public.)"
Al Gore must be bleeding cash.

“Our overarching goal consistently has been to say we’ve got a responsibility not only to stop drugs from flowing north, we’ve also got a responsibility to make sure we are not helping to either arm or finance these drug cartels in Mexico,” Obama said in the interview with ABC News senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper that will air on “Nightline.”
“It’s very upsetting to me to think that somebody showed such bad judgment that they would allow something like that to happen,” he said. “And we will find out who and what happened in this situation and make sure it gets corrected.”

MSNBC did not take a "big hit" when Olberdouche went off air. The just as talentless O'Donnell pulls right around Olberman's number for a fraction of the cost.
And 106,000 for the early shows is not a "big audience". Advertisers don't give a damn if your new shitty number is 5x better than your old shitty number. It's still worth its intrinsic value (shit).

We only turn on the DirecTV during football season, so each fall I get to know TV again. Apart from the main liberal channels (CNN, MSNBC) there are:
Current - Al Gore's channel. Pros: staffed with attractive college girls. Cons: has Keith Olberman.
Link TV: Shrill, aggravating liberals. Pros: None. Cons: Shows Al-Jazeera without a shred of understanding. '
And new this fall:
Free Speech TV: Still more aggravating liberals, but at an even lower budget than Link.
It's amusing to note that Link and FSTV both show "Democracy Now!" which appears to be a cable access current events show hosted by dried up bitter old lesbo hippie chicks with battleship-grey Beatles 'dos.
So, the verdict is that, of all the second-string lefty news channels, Current is the least objectionable.

First of all, I'm stunned that he actually said he could "see himself" freeing KSM & Co. in exchange for a lone American hostage. Second, when Blitzer floated the hypothetical about Al Qaeda making "demands" in exchange for this fictional hostage, he should have immediately replied, "the United States government does not negotiate with terrorists." Period, end of story.

I think even Greg Kinnear pulled more viewers.
Hello Larry pulled more viewers.
Automan pulled more viewers.
Max Headroom: more viewers.
Keith Headroom: less viewers.
He is outgained by B.J and the Bear.
How must that feel, for this rich Cornell grad.
But hey, he has more money than the chimp Bear!
Enos: pulled more viewers, and probably from a more intelligent demo too.
You guys remember Manimal?
Yep, more viewers than Keith. That must hurt him a lot, when he's playing with his rubber ducky, he must cry!
Hell, I bet Sheriff Lobo had better ratings!
On any night of that boring Dick Cavett PBS show, you cand bet that he had more viewers than Keith.
Rev. Dr. Gene Scott, bizarre pastor who had tv shows run in the middle of the night in the 80s. He had more viewers than Keith.
Amazing Discoveries, the infomercial with Ian and Mike...more viewers than Keith.
What a poor bastard.
A star like Fred "Rerun" Berry has more name recognition than that guy from Cornell, Keith Olbermund.
Must sting like a bitch!
Supertrain: a bigger hit than Keith's show.
Damn! That'll leave a mark!
The Diceman. Andrew "Dics" Clay has had more TV success than Keith.
And he didn't go to Cornell.
Hmm, that Ivy League education doesn't exactly result in ratings success!

Remember that pic on AoSHQ a while back that showed Keef with his very large staff? This show is costing Manbearpig a ton of money--there were at least 15 people in the picture, maybe 20. I think there were 2 black guys.
Current TV also recently added Jennifer Granholm to it's stable of talent. I have to say, Algore knows how to pick some real weiners.
