I DJ as a side job and there are plenty of DJ stores to get replacement needles from. Turntablism is pretty big. I would be more worried about the Technic 1200's. They have been discontinued (rumored?) and prices have shot up.

I once put a cats paws on a turntable and put his tail up to my ear and got decaphonic sound.

That's a bad kitteh!
Bad Kitteh!
Get off my Vinyl!

Not to worry. One record is Yoko Ono and the other is Barry Manilow. A few scratches won't make any difference to the musical quality.

When my Shure V-15 went bad in the middle of transcribing all my old vinyl to MP3s I went out looking on the internet. The cheapest I could find was a Shure was an M91ED for $300. They had been $15 at places like Radio Shack back in the turntable days.
I had a friend that operated a Sony store when I told him about it he pulled a box from beneath his counter with a bunch old cartridges in it. He had one that was even passable that he sold me for $35.
Maybe they are getting cheaper and coming back, but they sure as hell weren't then.

Initially, Gov. Chris Christie had planned to put $506 million into the state pension fund, a one-seventh payment that was agreed upon last year as part of property tax relief. The state hasn't made a full pension payment in a decade, but former Gov. Jon Corzine made two partial payments in 2007 and 2008. Christie put in nothing last year.
Taking into account the new regulations, which include requiring employees to pay more into the fund, the state will now pay $484 million into the fund this year, spokesman Kevin Roberts said.

Thought I remembered it from one of your vid dumps...heh, Ace doesn't read the blog, you don't expect him to read the sidebar do you?

Me, I'm more of a dog lover but I like cats, and this video is too cute!

As a followup I went out to see what they had at Amazon now. They had one store with my old V15 used for $180. I think I paid about $30 for it originally.
They did have some cheaper ones though.
What I also recall from the old days was that you never replaced a Shure needle. The damn needles were more expensive than the entire cartridge due to the way they did the discounting.

Ray Liota and those guys in goodfellas should have trashed that place.

After 9/11, I was not surprised that the goat-lovers used Newark Airport. Before 9/11 the Mexican border had tighter security.

The kittehs were later found under a black flag, dead, their throats slit. Police found a knife that tested positive for saliva on the handle.
Police have a solid lead and have asked the Secret Service to assist in the investigation. Sources, who asked not to be identified said, "the suspect appeared normal".

Not really. Heck, it's not official around here until it's posted twice.

First thing that comes to mind is, if that's the case, don't 49 of 50 states have totalitarian governments for requiring balanced budgets? Also, the House is no longer voting on a BBA Wednesday. They put that on hold but they're still voting on "Cut, Cap, and Balance" tomorrow.

No, Ace gets paid by the word. Double posting means more cash. Wait till Valu-Rite goes up in price - triple posting is in out future.

Not a good writeup.
Makes a one sided argument that omits critical facts,
Such as the raising of the bar for overspending being shifted from 50% to 60%
The raising debt limit being shifted from 50 to 60%
and he proposes no alternate solution other than change the way the Supreme Court has interpreted the Constitution. While offering no feasible mechanism to make that happen inside of the next 100 years.
He provides no suggestion on how the amendment might be changed to make it viable/less dangerous.
The writer provides no feasible means to simply 'go back and follow the Constitution as written' which despite a lot of effort we have failed to do over many many decades.
In short it is a perfunctory hit piece that is little more than useless bitching.
It's always easy to say "no" now propose an actual change or method that might work.

Is it wrong that, of all things, this is what made me laugh out loud while reading AoSHQ all day at work?

He reports that the V15 is no longer made, but if you look on the Shure Cartridge page he posts its specs for comparison alongside the cartridges they do still make.
I use a Stanton 500 myself, because I restore old records which need specially-sized styli, and they are available for that cartridge. It's not a V15, but it does a fine job with LPs as well.

Thanks I saved that link in case I do get another cartridge. Since I replaced that V15 my wife got me a Sony turntable that plugs directly into the USB port of the computer. It came with software that allows you to edit the resulting MP3 file to remove pops and clicks and separate the songs.
It is really a cheap belt drive turntable but it got the job done. I have finished digitizing all my old stuff now.
