— Gabriel Malor Last week, the MBM went crazy with stories about how Jon Huntsman would be an ideal candidate to run against Obama. Could it be that the full-court press on Huntsman's behalf actually backfired among Republican voters? Looks like it:
Although former Utah Gov. and former Ambassador to China Huntsman received considerable news coverage last week with the formal announcement of his candidacy, his image among Republicans is getting worse, not better. . . . More significantly, Huntsman's Positive Intensity Score is down to 2 from 5 a week ago. Earlier this year it had been as high as 15.
It's almost as if Republicans aren't buying the shit the media is shoveling.
Gallup notes that, excepting Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, the other declared candidates (Gingrich, Pawlenty, Paul, Johnson) have also seen drops in support since they got in the race. Their drops took much longer to accomplish, though, and did not include a week's worth of puff-pieces from the legacy media.

I still maintain that this will be an issues-driven campaign. If you want any attention (the real kind, you know, like from real, live voters and not the talking heads of the MFM) you need to come out and state plainly what the rest of the country already knows needs to be done.
It's really simple: everything that the JEF, Reid, and Pelosi have done since retaking the House has to be undone. If you even act like you want to play Mister Nice Guy with Obama, you're out. Take the gloves off and say what needs to be said, which Huntsman aint'a gonna do against his old boss.
If you stumble out of the starting gate, you may as well just pack it up, take your little balls, and go home.

What a schmuck Huntsman is, he probably was fooled into thinking he had a legitimate shot at winning based on the favorable media coverage.
He has no path to the nomination. None. Even if every democrat turned out and voted for him in the open NH primaires, he still wouldn't win any other state.
I'm guessing he pulls out by the time they reach Florida.
George Will put it best, Jon Huntsman is the republican candidate for people who don't like real republicans

Hunstsman would have been McLamex2 which is why he got all that postive press.
Um, thanks, but we saw that fail in '08 in spectacular fashion.
The squishy middle will go whichever way the crowd goes, hence the name and political positition. If we keep it up and sing the praises of genuine conservatives like Bachmann and Cain, they'll come around.

But the new wrinkle in these polls is going to be the outrageous statements from Romney yesterday. When Republican voters start finding out about that (assuming the MFM doesn't hide it) he is going to join Huntsman in the cellar.

Posted by: Sean Bannion at June 29, 2011 05:00 AM (sbV1u)
I will not be "wondering". I know why it happens. The MFM picks our candidate. A lot of us hardcore says fuck you to them, but a LOT of the Republicans and so-called conservatives look at the "press clippings" and call the conservative candidates, both male and female, unelectable and go with the squishes.
Plus it doesn't help that the Republican party puts together Primary rules that tend to favor squishes.
Posted by: Vic at June 29, 2011 05:02 AM (M9Ie6)

Here's a poll, that says the COOTUS beats Palin for president, if the election were held in Alaska today.
But, the same polling outfit shows Palin with a 53% approval rating in Alaska.
While Nationwide, the COOTUS's rating is 42%, and I doubt it's much better in Alaska - a strong Republican state.

I would hate to have to pick. I think we have been breaking new ground here for the past 2 or 3 years. A lot of the old "standards" are going out the window. The Party elites hate it because they are losing control but it is going to happen.
When you throw out the standards anything can happen. The last time the country was like it is now with respect to political candidates and stratification of hardcore ideals was 1860. And PLEASE do not take this as a cue to start a damn flame war.
The biggest difference we have now is the differences are not "sectional", they are economic and urban vs rural/suburban.

Ok, Vic threw down the gauntlet. He's come up with THE ratings which are THE ratings until there is another set. The Minuteman rating system is more objective and considers factors identifying a STRONG conservative candidate, not just how conservative that candidate is. Taking into account Conservative positions (weighted toward the importance of the issue), Recognition, Money, Motivated Support, Judgement, Relative Record, Health, and Public Perception, here are the Minuteman Rating System, version 1, numbers:
Perry: 80
Bachmann: 75
Palin: 65
Romney: 65
Cain: 60
Pawlenty: 55
Santorum: 50
Paul: 40
Gingrich: 35
Huntsman: 20

I've determined this using highly technical occult means. My prediction that GWB would be reelected came true, btw, while many of my friends in the same occult field thought otherwise.
I have no idea exactly what circumstances will come about to ensure this (OK, I can sorta imagine, but not with very high specificity) - all I know is that I've checked the fortunes of not only Obama but several keys "Obama individuals" - Cass Sunstein, Samantha Power, Obama's kids, even Nancy Pelosi. It is crystal clear that they are not going to be happy campers come January 2013. I can only conclude that this is likely a result of the changes that will come as a result of a new President.

The Minuteman rating system can be used for anyone in or out. It doesn't do a comparitive except in absolute terms. It's not a predictor of who will win, it's just a rating of the Strongest Conservative Candidate. In this system Angle would not have been on top for the primary for the Nevada Senate but Christine O'Donnell would have been on top for the primary for the Delaware seat.

Help me out here: What is being implied? FLOTUS is a bigot? Barry is an idiot? The acronym FLOTUS pronounced as a word, is particularly fitting for this person?

The sorry thing (to me) is that even in my Appalachian woods rat family, there are some who subscribe to that garbage. Although they no longer mention it around me.

That's why I no longer respond to that kind of crap from names I do not recognize. Pseudo troll socks lost their allure about 2 years ago and have been beat absolutely to death. A good joke gets stale when you exceed Avogadro's number.
if it is a real bigot troll Ace will be here soon to ban him.

While Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., has forcefully denounced the Medicaid program for swelling the "welfare rolls," the mental health clinic run by her husband has been collecting annual Medicaid payments totaling over $137,000 for the treatment of patients since 2005, according to new figures obtained by NBC News.
I suppose they'd prefer that Medicare patients not get care, or just that whoever gives it not be paid for it...?

Avogadro's number.
Awesome reference. I had to look it up.
Probably the largest number science uses on a regulr basis.

Tell me, now. Does MN require these sorts of facilities to accept Medicaid? In MA, doctors have to accept any sort of state/federal insurance policy.

Warm up the backhoes, ladies and gents. Time to double down.
So, did everyone see what Palin and Bachmann were wearing the other day? Kinda trampy what with their whore mouths and all that makeup, too. Who wants a tramp in the White House? Not saying they are tramps... just sayin'. I mean, look how many kids they have? They can't all be their own. Ask Andrew Sullivan.

Oh this criticism of her is just stupid and just illustrates the vapidity of the left.
If her husband accepts Medicare patients: HYPOCRITE!!!!!
If her husband refuses Medicare patients: HATES THE POOR!!!!!!!

It will be more like the 1800 Jefferson-Burr-Adams race and the 1828 Jackson-JQ Adams contest. Those were plenty fierce, too.

NO?
Bloody Kansas is going on in the urban areas as we speak, Harper's Ferry raids are occurring in Oakland, and the courts are issuing "Dred Scott's" on a monthly basis. As for the election process all I have to do is point at that Soros post yesterday/
You haven't been keeping up with the real news. And let me tell you something, people are PISSED.

Well they kinda can be modified from time to time. The Dennehy thing is not so much of a joke as a recurring meme in different permutations.Besides, it is not aggravating as hell.

I know how pissed people are. And I know my American history, Vic. The parallels, such as they are, do not conform to a 2012-1860 equivalence. Sorry.
As for "real news"... well, I reckon my survey of the day's hot topics are adequate for my requirements.

So what? Business owners have the right to run their businesses as they see fit (even though our courts disagree and think that private property rights are childish notions). If they see Mormons working for them doing stuff like this, and they don't like it, they can fire the Mormons. If you see the owners acting like this, then you can work elsewhere.
I don't mind this in the least. I don't mind black-owned companies doing the same for blacks or any busness owner doing this as s/he wants. If it's bad policy, they'll suffer from it.

Not talking about private sector......they are EVERYWHERE in government positions. They are using the government to fund the livlihoods opf their members over keeping actual GOOD employees. I don't care if the private sector mormon hires nothing but whatever he wants. But once you live ANYWHERE mormon...you will understand what I am talking about.
