Let slip the camels of war!
— Monty

|UPDATE: A good piece from The American Thinker, "The Story of the Egyptian Revolution". Via NRO's "The Corner".

Yeah, it's really not funny. The Egyptian situation is getting more confused and violent by the hour. (Camel picture on Drudge; hence the lame joke.)

I find it funny that El-Baredi gave Mubarak48 hours to leave the country.

I find this funny because El-Baredi's base is the foreign media. He has not real political base in Egypt. He approached the Muslim Brotherhood and even they don't want anything to do with him. So it's kinda funny to watch him make threats without any ability to back it up.

I have a feeling he is exhiled or doesn't make it out of Egypt alive.

According to the American Thinker piece in the last thread, the violence started when the security forces withdrew from the cities.  I suspect a lot of the pro-Mubarak groups are actually anti-more chaos groups.

Most of the protesting (according to the article) is now being done by the 'professional' protester groups, and everybody else is either looting or fighting off looters.

114 “The Egyptian army can’t enter Sinai, we feel that it is still Israel. There are Israeli people there all the time, but when we go, we have to stop at checkpoints and we get turned back. We don’t feel that Sinai is Egyptian.”

Posted by: Waterhouse at February 02, 2011 11:42 AM (3YYhR)

This is also an illustration of why it is pointless and stupid to ever give back land that was won in war with arabs - especially such a strategic piece of land as the Sinai (and the Suez).  But, Israel can't help itself.  It refuses to pummel any arab enemy (Israel has never even bombed an arab capital during any of the wars) and therefore has to fight the same war, in different guises, every decade.

The only positive from the Camp David Accords is that the Egyptians were ostracized from the arab world, but that effect is long gone, now, and the Egyptians are looking for more revenge (for the humiliating wrong of their being inept retards).

115 Fun -- Teheran 1979 all over again!  Evokes the dear dead days of my youth, when Mr Peanut was leader of the free world, and the dreadful Shah was deposed in favor of "The People's" choice --  the Ayatollah Khomeinei!  How the Media celebrated the Revolution! How the Media then had a WTF moment when most of the American Embassy was held captive by revolutionary "youths" for over 400 days!  How the MSM  began backing away from their new heroes in the wake of executions, stonings, chopping off of hands, and other more essential parts of the anatomy.

And people glare at me when I tell them the Obama Administration is just Jimmy Carter's second term -- on steroids.  All we need is the return of disco balls, pet rocks, and a 22 1/2% prime rate.  That's right, kiddies, 22 1/2%.   A home mortgage was about 14%.  Which is when the Carter regime issued its regulations to banks that they would have to include food stamps and welfare payments in the computation of family income on a home mortgage application.  The more things change ...

Speaking of our first Peanut Brained President, there's this from the Washington Times:

The tennis court at former President Jimmy Carter‘s private home is swept twice a day, his pool is cleaned daily and his grass cut, his flower beds weeded and his windows washed on a regular basis Â— all at taxpayersÂ’ expense.

Under an arrangement with the National Park Service, taxpayers are responsible for the exterior of Mr. Carter‘s home in Plains, Ga. — to the tune of $67,841 last year alone. In exchange, the government obtains the right to add the home to the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site when he and his wife pass away.

Other presidents have had similar life estate agreements calling for their properties to be turned over after their deaths, but to have taxpayers footing the bill for upkeep and maintenance of the CartersÂ’ property appears to be unique, and itÂ’s drawing fire at a time of tight federal budgets.

The budget for the overall Carter National Historic Site has grown 32 percent over five years, from $1.29 million in 2006 to a request of $1.704 million in 2010.
