— Open Blogger Hoffa's call to arms doesn't appear to have fallen on deaf ears, as Longshoremen in Seattle chose to take a decidedly militant approach towards negotiations today:
Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/photogalleries/localnews2016144615/6.html
Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows...
There is a Federal restraining order on the union after death threats were made last week. This activity violates that restraining order, so it will interesting to see if Holder's justice department pursues what appears to be a slam-dunk case.
[N]obody has been arrested.
Yeah. Foreshadowing much?
The story includes a slideshow that manages to put the police in the worst light possible for the very first pic. Funny that.

Those guards were hampered by their employer's no guns policy. Washington state residents can get a CCW easily.
They should do so.
If we are going to be painted as violent lunatics regardless, we should own that role.

The goal is to foment enough public discontent, moral confusion, and outright chaos to spark the social upheaval that Marx, Engels, and Lenin predicted -- a revolution whose foot soldiers view the status quo as fatally flawed and wholly unworthy of salvation. Thus, the theory goes, the people will settle for nothing less than that status quo’s complete collapse -- to be followed by the erection of an entirely new system upon its ruins. Toward that end, they will be apt to follow the lead of charismatic radical organizers who project an aura of confidence and vision, and who profess to clearly understand what types of societal “changes” are needed.

Seriously, this is one of the opening shots in a new period of Osama Obama/union-led violence and intimidation. If the local cops can't or won't handle it, bring in the freekin' national guard and uphold the friggin' law.

I think Obama is so incompetent and the economy so dismal that he can't win.

One of the stupidest things about this whole story is that the shipyard in question uses union labor; it just happens to be a different union.

Seems to me that this is one plan that the SCOAMF and his henchmen have managed to implement rather well. My casual reading of AoS, Drudge, and a few other sites presents, on a daily basis, government affronts to the individual, the Constitution, freedom, rationality, integrity and the rule of law on such a level that I think I am living in a European socialist sci-fi novella.

I've been wanting to shove a hot coal up the ILWU's ass for about 4 years now. They have been instrumental in Hoffa and the left coast's "green" efforts to drive out the independent owner-operator.
They (all of them) have pushed to have only company trucks (non-union) serve the ports because only big, successful trucking companies can afford to purchase new, or retrofit old, trucks which meet their green standards.
CAC and I had a comment stream going several months ago about the fact that some very good companies hav now climbed into bed with those monsters.
I actually hate those fuckers.

That reminds me. I know on threads past the 'rons and 'ettes have discussed where the inevitable riots that start the revolution will begin. I'm usually of the mind that they won't happen where they're expected - Detroit, Chicago, etc - but somewhere unexpected (I sound like an economist). Has anyone suggested Seattle and its environs as the hotbed of civic discontent?

I'm a Seattle native who wishes like crazy I could leave this fucking libtard shithole. Found this on a local news site:
The Port of Seattle is aware that work is not occurring at our terminals today, as longshore workers are not present. Port of Seattle terminals are leased to terminal operators who work directly with ILWU for staffing. We do not know when work will resume. We will send an update at 3:00 pm today.

I don't like what Hoffa said either, but the Seattle longshoremen story seems to me to be an unrelated local dispute that has been going on for awhile, and not really a political story. We need to avoid the silliness that the Left indulged in when Gabby Giffords was shot: someone said X, someone else did Y, therefore saying X caused Y. Wasn't true then, doesn't look to be true now.

I agree with you, TRG. But even if the events aren't related - and I don't think they are beyond crazy timing - it nonetheless demonstrates that unions are perfectly happy to use violence to further their ends. Hoffa's words can only stoke the fires of violent discontent that labor unions are all too happy to break out when they're feeling jilted.

Homicide is also justifiable when committed either:
(1) In the lawful defense of the slayer, or his or her husband, wife, parent, child, brother, or sister, or of any other person in his presence or company, when there is reasonable ground to apprehend a design on the part of the person slain to commit a felony or to do some great personal injury to the slayer or to any such person, and there is imminent danger of such design being accomplished; or
(2) In the actual resistance of an attempt to commit a felony upon the slayer, in his presence, or upon or in a dwelling, or other place of abode, in which he is.
Changes: (minor)
Sec. 354. RCW 9A.16.050 and 1975 1st ex.s. c 260 s 9A.16.050 are each amended to read as follows: Homicide is also justifiable when committed either: (1) In the lawful defense of the slayer, or his or her husband, wife, parent, child, brother, or sister, or of any other person in his or her presence or company, when there is reasonable ground to apprehend a design on the part of the person slain to commit a felony or to do some great personal injury to the slayer or to any such person, and there is imminent danger of such design being accomplished; or (2) In the actual resistance of an attempt to commit a felony upon the slayer, in his or her presence, or upon or in a dwelling, or other place of abode, in which he or she is.
In other words, the security guards could have used deadly force to prevent a felony (kidnapping).

The financial DOOM has been a downer for some time but that seems to have lots of bloodless solutions. This crap and the flash mobs I have a hard time seeing any sort of solution as bloodless in the long run. Either those attacking will escalate to that point, or someone pushed too far will try defending themselves. Just I'm just getting depressed lately as there's been so much cultural DOOM of America. My hope is a new president that actually shares American values and cultural norms will start a trickle down effect that will neutralize these assholes before it goes past the point of no return.

I have a friend who's ex is a longshoreman. He hardly ever worked. It's like a giant pyramid scheme. The longer you have been there, the less you have to do (and you always get first choice of what job you are going to do). The losers on the bottom are the ones doing all the work. Longshoreman are total bastards. They held SoCal hostage about 10 years ago with a labor dispute at the longbeach yard. Barges were in a ship traffic jam for miles out to sea, with costs of billions to the economy each day. They didn't care. Afterwords, many companies pulled out of longbeach because of this nonsense and many shipyards in that general area are vacant because of it.
THIS is what got the Mexicans started down the Punta Colonet path.

ObamaÂ’s union pals can commit violence, take hostages, and vandalize, but no one gets arrested. Big surprise.
Obama gave his stamp of approval on Jimmy Hoffa’s declaration of war on Tea Party “sons of bitches”, and while Trumka’s goons are committing violent crimes, he’s holding court at Obama’s speech.
Nary a peep out of the MSM over this. The leftwing hacks in the media didnÂ’t raise any hell over the violence and death threats by union thugs in Wisconsin or when a non-union business owner was shot outside his home.
The police are useless, and ObamaÂ’s regime supports these union brownshirts. Businesses and employees will have to start arming themselves and shoot to kill.
