The DJIA in itself is a futures market, when you buy a stock you are betting that in the future that stock will be worth more than you paid for it. If oil futures go up dramatically it has an effect on the economy as a whole so the stock you bought might be worth less in the future than it is today because of oil prices.

It's been awhile since I've seen snowstorms like that. This one in the Piney Woods isn't expected to be so bad tomorrow, but ice is the main concern. People here do not know how to drive on the ice*, so it's best to stay indoors.

They are so sharp up here, either. I swear someone imports pod people from Alabama just to fill cars during snow storms.

Boston could take 12-16 inches if the ground was bare, but the snowbanks have been growing for 5 weeks. At least they don't have Mayor Bloomberg.

283 I'm in Indiana,  too.   I did laundry today and ran dishwasher,  vacuumed,  bought a battery-operated radio,  paper plates,  matches.  Candles I have and flashlights with batteries.

Not much else I can do.  Both laptops are charging and so is the Kindle.  If we lose power I will hole up in the bedroom with the dogs and candles and about 20 layers of cloothes and listen to the radio.  That's about all I can do.

Hubby is in Africa working,  where it's 90 degrees. Sigh.
