That was just Obama testing his Internets Kill Switch.
Strangely enough, there are robed Islamists smashing the windows of DJ's Feed Store so I'm not sure if Johnstown is about to be overrun by the Muslim Brotherhood or some terrorist types mistook their Tom Tom and took a wrong turn somewhere.

@24: "Not particularly germain to the topic, but did any of you think on 9/11 that 10 years down the road we'd have a President with the name of Hussein? Or did you think that muzzies would be a defacto protected class? Or that there would be a strong movement underway to put a mosque in the shadow of the towers? I could go on, but you get the idea..."
Yeah. Not those exact specifics, but yeah. The West has terminal vaginitis. That much was made abundantly clear when we started trying to negotiate with the Taliban to hand over bin Laden et al.
Our only offer should have been that of Denton Van Zan in Reign of Fire: "We can do this easy, or we can do this *real* easy."

@25: "My ten-sided Conspiracy Theory Die came up with the Trilateral Commission on this one."
Well, in point of fact, 9/11 was a conspiracy. Unless, of course, 19 Islamic dudes all independently decided that on the same random Tuesday they were each going to hijack an airliner and fly it into a building. In that case, imagine the surprised conversations that they must have had......

I feel ya, brah. Or did you ever think that after the sodomite-drive plague of AIDS in 1980s & '90s courts would be imposing ghey marriage? Or that a draft-dodging douche-bag southern governor would defeat a WWII naval-aviator hero president who had just won a war in the Middle East? Or that said governor, who had a reputation for womanizing, would, you know, get caught womanizing in the White House? Or that the Senate would, in the face of clear evidence, fail to convict him in his impeachment trial?
Or, or, or . . . I could go on.

Apparently the chief complaint from the protestors was this (via Yahoo!): "The activists were angry about the Supreme Court case Citizens United, which allows ends limits on the amount of issue advertising companies can fund."
Moreover:
"Charles and David Koch were recently the subjects of a long New Yorker profile by Jane Meyer detailing their extensive political fundraising, dubbed in liberal circles the 'Kochtopus.' The Kochs have fought laws to limit greenhouse gases, President Obama's health care overhaul, and Tea Party rallies. Their retreat was focused on cutting the federal deficit and other economic issues. Meanwhile, a protester told the times that 'we cannot have democracy unless everyone has a voice,' a protester told the Times. The Kochs, and other corporate political donors, are drowning out regular voters, she said, because 'their voices are louder.' Whether you agree with her, and her methods, seems to have a lot to do with political affiliation."
So, I'm guessing it would all be perfectly fine if they were helping Obama. But, Heaven forbid a businessman support the Cato Institute!

Completely OT but put me some freakin' knowledge here!
Bear in mind I didn't really get CDO's until Monty explained shit to me in the comments section of a morning thread, with a used guitars analogy back when he was just a Moron. I don't even play guitar!
Okay, here goes...
I don't understand why Shep Smith reported Oil futures going up, immediately processed by the DJIA.
What the fuck does the one have to do with the other?
I have long been under the impression (contra Bill O'Reilly and his war on "speculators") that there is a good reason to have a commodities market.
If I am a Baker or the Head of an Airline, I know that I'm going to need at least one bag of flour, or one barrel of oil, every day to service my customers.
I'm a fucking Baker, for Pete's sake! Why should I have too keep up on crop conditions on every little farm in Bum Fuck Kansas?
Here's the deal.
I, as a Baker, will contract with you, the Farmer, to buy 365 bags of flour @ 50 cents per, to get me through the next year of making delicious pastries every day, all year long.
Produced more than 365 bags of flour that you are selling @ 10 cents per, on the roadside?
Well, tough titty for me, I guess but I'm still going to pay you @ 50 cents per, just so long as I get my bag delivered, on time, and at the price we agreed apon.
Ooopsie!
You say you have weevils, locusts and drought all at the same time?
People are rioting near the Farmer,s Markets of Wichita and offering to pay @80 per for a cup-full of flour?
Tough titty.
We agreed that I would pay you @50 cents per bag. Every day. For the whole fucking year.
That's why they are called futures.
I need that stability, if I'm going to operate my little pastry shoppe!
As to how I came up with the "@50 cents per" figure?
I didn't.
The commodities market did.
Way too busy designing ways to combine chocolate and chili peppers on a cupcake frosting for my customers in Chicago, to pay attention to the Ag Reports in fucking Kansas or Iowa or wherever the hell you are from.

Interesting and scary speculation. What if the MoBros take over all middle eastern oil producing nations? What if the next MoBros target is the Saudi Kingdom?

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R., Texas), who chairs the House Republican Conference, said in a statement that the White House’s failure to meet the deadline made it “crystal clear that the President is not serious about reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”
“The Obama Administration’s repeated inability to propose a plan to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac calls into question their commitment to taxpayer protection and their ability to effectively govern on this issue,” Hensarling added. “After more than $150 billion in Fannie and Freddie bailouts, we can no longer afford to allow the Administration to kick the can down the road.”

Well, for that matter, how the hell do these geniuses think that things made out of metal get shaped? I grew up watching ferriers shoe horses. Metal doesn't come out of the ground shaped like horseshoes, girders, tools, or whatever.
Why not? Liberals seem to think that money grows on trees, why should metal be any different?

I don't understand why Shep Smith reported Oil futures going up, immediately processed by the DJIA.
What the fuck does the one have to do with the other?
Deety,
The DJIA in itself is a futures market, when you buy a stock you are betting that in the future that stock will be worth more than you paid for it. If oil futures go up dramatically it has an effect on the economy as a whole so the stock you bought might be worth less in the future than it is today because of oil prices.

Yeah, farriers are just freakin' craftsmen, aren't they?
Gets constantly eclipsed by their "beside manner" though.
I know that a horse's hoof is just an overgrown toenail and that they need shoes on their pretty little feetsies but I am always amazed that the farrier doesn't get the shit kicked out of him every time he starts driving nails into a hoof.
Fucking, amazing.
Farrier would come every 3 months and set up a little smithy out in the yard...
Though, in my stable, we were trained, fairly specifically to handle and inspect all of our horses hooves as a day to day routine.

Beck's getting a bit too isolationist in his assessment of the Egypt situation. He thinks the US can be Switzerland.
Beck is an excellent thinker, but he's just way off on this. What he should be talking about is how the whole world loved Sadat as some sort of saint but now all the same people hate Mubarak, when there's not a bit of difference between them. Mubarak was good because he extended what Sadat was doing and kept continuity.

You're welcome; it was an interesting demonstration. I also think many of the youth of today have great capability, but the lack of challenge in today's curricula, etc., keeps their ability at a basic level. In other words, they could absorb and do so much more if given the chance and if self-learning was promoted in the schools.

I'm well aware of that. It has nothing to do with my comment. Mubarak is no different from Sadat, which is what made him good. Mubarak has also been rabidly anti-islamist, extending much of what Sadat did. The gang that offed Sadat got together in prison during one of Sadat's many round-ups of muslim brotherhood fans and other assorted islamists, just as Mubarak continued (but with a bit more vigor, seeing as they got to Sadat).

Yep. Nasser preached pan-arabism with Egypt at the top. He constantly attacked, though he always lost ... but arabs are used to losing. There was still the fact that Egypt led the arab world and the dream of destroying Israel was still alive. Sadat saw them purged from that dream.
With Mubarak, interestingly, Egypt finally found its entree back into some leadership in the arab world, though things have moved from pan-arabism to pan-islamism in the middle east, now.

O/T but important. Looks like Judge Vinson used Obama's own words against him in the ruling. Funny how that seems to happen a lot, but in this case it must be especially sweet for the WON.
“I note that in 2008, then-Senator Obama supported a health care reform proposal that did not include an individual mandate because he was at that time strongly opposed to the idea, stating that ‘if a mandate was the solution, we can try that to solve homelessness by mandating everybody to buy a house,’” Judge Vinson wrote in a footnote toward the end of the 78-page ruling Monday.
The footnote was attached to the most critical part of Judge Vinson‘s ruling, in which he said the “principal dispute” in the case was not whether Congress has the power to tackle health care, but whether it has the power to compel the purchase of insurance.

For example, I just went to look for his ratings. 99% of the hits were from media matters, huffpo, or something like that. I see "roadrunner". Looks ok. Roadrunner is owned by time warner. Time warner also runs Time magazine and Turner broadcasting as in Ted Turner, etc etc. It's all lib media hacks all the time. Not even.
The Persians of Iran hate the Arabs, and vice versa.
And the Shi'ites hate the Sunnis, and vice versa.
So you have Persian Shi'ites, Arab Sunnis, and Arab Shi'ites. It's pretty clear that if the Islamicists take over in the Arab countries, they'll be of the Arab Sunni variety. In the ensuing war between Shi'ite Iran and the Arab Sunnis, the wild card will be the Arab Shi'ites -- which side will they declare for, or will both sides turn on them first as being potential enemies?

Shep's is 50%
O'Reilly's is 57%

Heh. Good point. Come July you will have the goods on me. Let me enjoy this a bit though. My first winter without snow. I've already mocked my friends freezing back in Denver. Now it's the Moe Rons turn I guess.

Fluffy, they had two lanes of '93' North shut down last night (I thought it was more Obama shovel ready project), they were moving the current piles of snow and trying to pack it in tighter next to the side of the rode.

I remember several years ago when it snowed in Houston and all the locals were staring at the sky. Snow is still magical if you don't see it much or not at all.
Was it The Book of Numbers that they said of manna, "Do we have to eat this crap again?" It's getting close to that.

Makes sense. People start feeling the same way here after it pours for 3wks and you hardly see the sun.

you mean, the Bank of America that is still partially owned by the government? and they are making a forecast that has favorable implications to Obama? Nooooooo, really???????

I felt inspired.
Oh, I am just teasing. I am comforted by the fact that somewhere in this nation the grass is still visible and you can go outside without a heavy coat and a stupid knit hat.

A couple of my neighbors whom, I'm sure, are in the same socio-economic strata as I , spent 4 hours shoveling. I'm thinking, "man with all the money you undoubtedly piss away on stupid stuff, go buy a fucking snow blower, so we won't find you purple in the snow bank"

Ain't gonna work.
At my top, I was 130 pounds but it ended up being all muscle.
And my ass just turned out even more fabulous than "wot God gave me" according to reports...
I cant even imagine what sort of regime or discipline it would take for me to grow moobs worthy of augmenting my au naturales.
200 lbs?
No way.
These are my titetehs!
Suck on that!
(Or, don't. They are kind of sensitive. Bunch of nerve endings all concentrated up together. I'm sure you will understand.)

For the record, I think that Number of the Beast is just terrible.
You really have to love Uncle Bob to get through it. And even still, it's kind of painful.

Okay, I always accepted your word before, but now I suspect you are, in fact, a 40-year-old bald man. Internet rule 1 corollary b applies here.
Corollary b: If a woman talks dirty, it's a 40-year-old bald man and/or a cop trolling for suspects.
Since you haven't said anything about being underage, I'm going with the former.

Everyone's gone, but someone should point out AP's curious description of the Truthers:
Rowe was a producer of "Loose Change," a 2006 film that challenged the official explanation of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001
Just challenging "the official explanation." Not even "the widely held explanation," which would include most sane observers, and AP's, one would hope. But the writer essentially narrowed it down to the 'government explanation.'
Don't want to call into question the view held by a plurality of Democrats, right?

327, as for staging range accidents, the MP's get all CSI about that shit and there are too many squishy witnesses who can't keep their mouths shut. Besides, it's not like I ever met the guy. There are 18,000+ in the Division at wartime fill.

But the ultimate is the "space shot speedball" where you mix all the heroin you shoot, with all the cocaine you dare shoot together. The effects are something you will remember for the rest of your life.
But the hangover lasts, like, forever.

Next on the Jesse Ventura conspiracy show: Maker of Loose Change set up by government agents. They made him shoot heroin. The plot thickens!!!!!!!!!
The AZ shooter was a Troofer. How come nobody blamed the Loose Change/ Jesse Ventura idiots. ?

Am I the only one who remembers taking a field trip to an Indiana Steel Mill in HS?
Must be a Chicago thang...
Sure sure, I was supposed to more clearly understand the plight of the proletariat or something but dime-store Marxism really does pale in comparison to a real live Steel Mill.
Holy Crap!
I still think it would be totally kick-ass to punch a time-card, every day, in such an awesomely terrifying environment.
Don't tell me, "it gets old".
It just can't.
Also, I didn't notice any of the workers being all that oppressed.
Their attitude seemed, almost uniformly, to be more one of "C'mere! Get a load of this shit!"
Hard hats, goggles, and long sleeves, required of course. That poster in the break room? The one bragging about how many days it has been since anyone was maimed or killed on the job? 542 days on my visit. This place is about SAFETY if nothing else!
All the dancers later agreed with each other and the Social Studies teacher that those working conditions were just terrible!
(And yet you aspire to someday sweat your ass off, starve yourself silly, and wreck your knees for little pay, as part of the New York Ballet for an evanescent 3 maybe 4 years? Uhmkay...)
At the tender young age of 17, I learned my first lesson in shutting the fuck up and letting silly people just go ahead with being silly...
