All I can do is quote Richard Cohen, as dependable a liberal columnist as the WaPo has ever had:

The change that Obama promised has settled on us all like an irritating drizzle. His ideas were untested by either age or experience. It is one thing to decry American unilateralism and quite another to await international action when time is of the essence. It is not necessary for America always to lead, but it is sometimes necessary for it to do so Â— and always necessary for the president to know when that moment has arrived. Obama seems not to know. He often solves problems by ignoring them.

Cohen makes the obligatory liberal swipe at Bush towards the end of the column, but he's mostly going through the motions. And, yes, Richard, a lot of Americans knew that Candidate Obama -- not just his ideas, but the man himself -- was "untested by either age or experience", which is why a lot of Dems voted to nominate Hillary and why a lot of Americans voted to elected McCain. But thanks to the anointing of the Chosen One by the mainstream media -- you listening, Richard? -- no real due diligence of Candidate Obama was done, and we ended up with President Feckless.

Votes have consequences, but so does biased media coverage. How's that hope and change working out for you, Richard? ..fritz..

Exactly. The left gambled big with Obama. "Hope" was as much a rationale for their vote as it was a campaign slogan. They thought his ability to sway people with his rhetoric and charisma* would offset his lack of experience. His speeches made him sound decisive, when in reality he was and is just a shameless liar.

I honestly don't know whether Obama will even run in 2012. His re-election efforts seem unusually half-hearted at this point. Of course, that may be more incompetence than anything else.

*Note: that was their belief, not mine. Obama has virtually no charisma to speak of that I can detect.

As for this War... Since the President didn't actually supply any objective, measurable goals, I have three:

1) Remove Mommar Kadhafi from power in Libya.
2) After (1), Immediately cease all military involvement in Libya.
3) Impeach the President for opening hostilities absent a formal declaration of war, an existing state of war (remember, folk, Iraq had already violated the cease-fire), or a 'Clear and Present Danger' to the national security of the United States.

Bunch of us were talking about the mess in DC, and came up with a couple of possible conclusions.

One of them was the question seen increasingly, that if Obama were actively trying to inflict damage would he do anything different

The other, ( I think more accurate), is this is a graphic example of the inherent flaw in the progressive policy. In other words, what we see is that this system simply CANNOT work. Never has yet, no matter who has tried.

43 Liberals are all over the map on this because they don't have a coherent world view. Since they don't believe in moral Truth, they can't actually believe in Right or Wrong (let alone Good or Evil). So they are required, by their world view, to approach every situation as though it exists in a vacuum.

Conservatives, on the other hand, seem to be in one of two camps- both of which can be defended fairly logically.

Group A seems to think that the war is a good thing, and that this is one of the times today that Barak "Broken Clock" Obama will be right.

Group B seems to think that the war is a bad thing, because (insert reason here: the two I'm hearing most are- no national security interest in Libya and "we're broke.")

Both groups make good, cogent arguments in their favor (I tend to side with Group B, over all, but I can also see Group A's points) and both (as far as I can tell) have a real problem with a) the way we entered the war (it's not a No-Fly Zone, no matter what they want to call it) and/or b) the lack of leadership as far as setting goals and explaining exactly why this affects our national interests.

Liberals, not having a coherent world-view to ground them, are just lashing out. This one hates the new war, and now hates BHO for entering it. This other one things this is a "just war" because.... Democrat President. Yet a third thinks the war is probably a good idea, but really hates that the President didn't dot his I's and cross his T's.

And vitriol? It's like a nice, sweet glass of schadenfreude.

Cohen was down with the fact that we didn't know much about Obama back in 2008. He even called it "troubling". Yet while he came ever so close to making the correct logical conclusion -- he had to go and do this:

Eleanor Roosevelt, playing off the title of Kennedy's Pulitzer Prize-winning book, airily dismissed him as more profile than courage. Similarly, it was Walter Lippmann's enduring misfortune to size up FDR and belittle him: Roosevelt, he wrote, was "a pleasant man who, without any important qualifications for office, would very much like to be president." Lippmann later recognized that he had underestimated Roosevelt.

My guess is that Obama will make a fool of anyone who issues such a judgment about him.

re: Strike Eagle down. The E model has a designed airframe life of 16,000 hours as opposed to the F-15C which was designed for 8,000 hours.

All we know right now is the plane went down for apparent mechanical issues and the crew was rescued.

80 Liberals, not having a coherent world-view to ground them, are just lashing out. This one hates the new war, and now hates BHO for entering it. This other one things this is a "just war" because.... Democrat President. Yet a third thinks the war is probably a good idea, but really hates that the President didn't dot his I's and cross his T's.

Eh, in the end they'll resolve to blame the trivaginate of Valkyries (Clinton/Rice/Power) for their bellicosity in starting it, hate Uncle Sam and the baby-murdering troops for trumped up civilian casualties and a 'display of hegemony,' and then credit Obama for saving the lives of innocent civilians, 'leading' a multilateral coalition from the aft, and cement his legacy as the father of the 'Arab Awakening.' All this will be nicely rolled together by the Make Believe Media in time for 2012.

Worse. Obama has the same sort of authoritarian belief that Hoover (and most of the intellectuals of his day) that one could simply manipulate economies into doing what you wanted. And also human nature.

Of course, the one thing Hoover had going for him is that he was actually an engineer. And the naive view of the 20s and 30s was that engineering brought so much progress that it could be applied to economics and social policy.

That philosophy never died on the Left, especially among liberals who couldn't quite go full Marxist.

But Obama's no engineer. He's a lawyer. He thinks if he creates the right committee of the smartest experts that they can simply solve the problem. E.g., green jobs. The laws of thermodynamics be damned, the scientists just aren't working hard enough.

At least Hoover had some excuses, history hadn't proven him wrong and he was actually a smart person. Obama, not so much.

I would quibble with the description of Obama as a "lawyer," in the sense that it implies that he engaged in a significant career practicing law. It is true that he is law-trained, and true that he spent a few short years at a law firm, and perhaps then as a "guest lecturer" in Constitutional Law while an elected official, but we don't see much evidence of Obama working as a lawyer for any substantial period of time. What I see is the arrogance of an academic or intellectual, which I think is the proper characterization.
