Mark Steyn, Iowahawk Agree That Lindsey Graham Is A Tick
— Ace

Steyn: "unfit for office," and he'd like to know where the supposed brave champions of free expression are on this.

Oh, right. They're congratulating themselves for agreeing with Graham.

Iowahawk discovers a Lindsey Graham essay on the importance of politeness and good manners during wartime.

On this issue, I can sort of give Graham a Mitigating Circumstances point because he is very pro-military, and is looking out for our troops. But to suggest that Americans need to be "held accountable" for the free exercise of speech? Because of the behavior of foreign primitives?

The idea that we need to institute a law against blasphemy on behalf of an aggressive, violent, alien (version of) a religion -- to avoid hurting the feelings of monsters! -- is insane.

What are we fighting for? Do we have to destroy the village to save it?

It actually makes a lot of sense.  There are a lot of "Republicans" like Graham in the South because a whole lot of them are, like Graham, former Democrats who switched parties.  Goober Pyle here just happens to be one who got in and built up conservative cred when that's what it took for him to aggregate power; the stronger his machine has gotten in South Carolina, the more comfortable he's been with reverting to form.

You know what the US could use?

Human Rights commissions. If someone ever feels their human rights have been violated, say by someone burning a Koran, we could have the government fund them to sue the offending party. And the offending party has to pay their own court costs. And this is done outside the normal justice system. That would be a great idea.

Canada has them. There's a Democratic selling point right there.

I could probably stand watching Western Civilization be economically boned, but when we're culturally boned also, bowing down not to offend a group of 7th century barbarians, or any fricking group whose feelings can't be hurt, I just have to scream. It's just too frickin much....

42 FUBAR's Three Laws of Muslims

1. A Muslim at peace will remain at peace unless acted on by an outside Fatwa.  (Note that a state of absolute peace is impossible, thus no Muslim is at peace.)

2. A Muslim in jihad will remain in jihad.  The  magnitude of a Muslim's jihad is proportional to the sum of the Fatwas acting on the Muslim.

3. For every Kafir action, there is an equal and opposite Muslim overreaction.

This is a response to Ann Barnhardt by one of our finest when he saw her video rant at Miss Lyndsey.   It was posted by her on her website.    I imagine he speaks for more than just himself.

Thanks Ann for your videos. I'm with the USMC in Afghanistan right now and as such, I'm prohibited from speaking my mind about our enemies. Thanks for speaking up for us as we continue to pretend that these people are our allies.

We had a meeting with the commander of the local Afghan army unit and he was blue in the face complaining about Terry Jones. The officer in charge of the meeting had to tip toe around and pretend that he was also offended. The things we have to do out here . . .

You're quite the spit fire. Please take care, and I hope your message grows.

Mark Steyn is Canadian? I always thought he was a British ex-pat just because of his accent, I suppose.

Cool! I wonder if he ever hung out at Texas Armadillo around the corner from the Sky Dome.

Eh, probably not.

95 I think we all saw what SC is like during the last election.  I have to wonder, are there hills and hollers there or do they just marry their cousins?

C'mon now.  I've been here 12 years.  Even though I'm a transplant to SC, I have to say that there isn't an inordinate amount of inbreeding.  There are good, solid conservative people here.  Heavily practicing Christians.  I can't figure out why this boob gets elected.  However, he's really put his foot in his mouth many times the last few years.  There are strong rumblings of him being primaried in '14.  Can't speak for Vic's area of the state, but for the upstate, I think there's a good chance to unseat this douche.

Science fact:

When Harry Reid retreats into his shell, it is often necessary to stick a finger in his ass to get him to poke his head out.

97 94 We're boned by the Boehner!

Despite the fact that this is the strongest speculation...

(1) Both sides would have to completely agree
(2) The deal would have to survive a House Conference meeting
(3) It would not be voted-upon until later this weekend
(4) As Majority Whip, McCarthy would have to retain those 218 votes

103 McCarthy is handing-out pamphlets saying there is not yet a deal and someone on the Senate GOP side said "no deal". The Dems are also not sure whether they've agreed on riders or not. A little while ago, Reid had to push-back his floor appearance by an hour.

This weeks intransigence will only invigorate and solidify the tea party resolve.  The conservatives need to understand the time for kissy-face and smacky-mouth with liberals is over.  We want blood in the aisles, and no John McCain bipartisanship by crossing the aisle with Band-Aids, Tampons, and peace offerings.

131 Lindsey Graham and much of the mainstream media are fully deserving of much scorn from Americans and from anyone who really believes in constitutional and human rights, but aside from maybe Obama, which should go without saying, let us not forget the main culprit, which is the U.S. Military. YES, the U.S. Military! More specifically the U.S. Army, and most specifically of all, one David Howell Petreaus. He makes Neville Chamberlain, who never kowtowed to the Nazis nearly as much as Petraues has to Muslims, look like Winston Churchill by comparison. Petraeus demonized Pastor Jones, who now has a $2.4 million bounty on his head, and elevated the HOLY KORAN as he calls it. Did Chamberlain ever do anything like that with Mein Kampf, the Nazis' minor version of the Koran?  With his attacks on the United States Constitution, which he swore an oath to protect and defend, his repeatedly placing the lives of his own troops as inferior to Muslims with his ROE, his giving aid and comfort to the enemy, arguably to the point of sedition and treason, Petraues makes Jane Fonda look like a constitutional patriot by comparison. If he ever tried to sneak through the Pearly Gates, the Founding Fathers and General George S. Patton would cast him out! Petraeus should be sitting in Leavenworth, not Terry Lakin.

iOTW- What do you think of General Petreus and his assertion that inciting Islam puts our soldiers in harmÂ’s way?

Ann Bernhardt- I have an offer for General Petreus.  IÂ’ll GIVE him one of my balls.  Then IÂ’d still have two, and he would have one.  He is a politicking coward who cares only about his pension and cashing in on his rank after he retires.  The suicidal, defeatist Rules of Engagement he oversees are the unequivocal proof of that.  He should resign in disgrace – yesterday, and then present himself to each and every family of our war dead and BEG their forgiveness for failing in his duty as their son or daughterÂ’s commanding officer.
