9 Damn, did you see Obama is down to 41% approval on Gallup?  Lol, won't see THAT mentioned on the evening news.  Odd though as Rasmussen has him at 48 today (which given the current circumstances is hard to believe).

I think the reason for the 41 on Gallup is that they may poll more liberals than Rasmussen and libs are mad at the O right now.

Who knows.  Gallup has pulled this stuff before only to have Obama rebound 8 points in 3 days for no particular reason.

42 Currently getting a ZERO on rottentomatoes.com You can safely ignore the reviews. This is a movie almost calculated to send the lefty-oriented "arts" press into a frothing rage. They hate the very idea of the movie -- there is no way it could have been made in such a way as to get their support. That being said: a $20M budget is tiny for a major movie. I fully expect it to be a "TV Movie" kind of affair -- but that's not necessarily bad. Atlas Shrugged isn't an FX spectacular. It's mainly a bunch of people standing around talking. If you get good actors who can deliver Rand's leaden dialogue with a bit of verve, and inject some actual action into the piece, I think it'll play just fine. It's possible to do huge bank on a tiny budget (Blair Witch did, what, $100 million or more?). And if the movie does well, the sequels will have a bigger budget to work with...which I think is the whole point of this release.

yeah at the movie website, there are a ton of foreigners begging for the film to be released in their countries. I have a feeling it will do fairly well nationally as well.

It cost 10-15 million to make, I'm betting it breaks even after the first week.

Yes A.S. sure is dull, with all those people just standing around and discussing, and the molten steel pouring out of the broken furnace, the pirate raids, not one but several train wrecks, an airplane crash or two, the Project X planet-cracker sonic weapon going off, Wyatt's Torch, all of d'Anconia Copper's holdings going up at once,  Dagny's orgasms, and of course the torture machine [warning: spoilers]. 77 I just saw Atlas Shrugged in Madison.  Good movie; quite successful adaptation of a difficult book.  Some good action and good lines.  It's gonna make libs livid, though, because it links the disasterous economic situation with progressive ideologies pretty successfully.

80 I dunno why it's on Ultrascreen -- I don't think I really know what UltraScreen is.  But the Marcus is a nice enough theater with plenty of parking.  And the movie is worth it.   I started to re-read AS on Wednesday evening and I'm actually surprised by how well it has been adapted.  The book has some heavy dialogue but the movie is doesn't really get bogged down in it.  Some of it is changed, but it's really not for the worse, I think.

I'll be interested to hear how full the evening shows were.  I'd really like to see this turn a good profit.

Well done, obviously low budget, but the acting is excellent, the characters are wholly believable. The gal who plays Dagney nail it!  Barney Frank is NOT going to like this movie, the Wesley Mouch character IS Barney Frank.  I will definitely be going to see this again. Highlights: the first run of the John Galt line and the finale.

I really hate what has happened to movies in general.  Unless you count movies for the kids (e.g., the Toy Story series) the last ones I've seen at a theater were Passion of the Christ and United 93.

88 I know many folks don't have jobs, and many of those that do don't have the $$$ for movie tickets.  But if you do, this is a good one to support.  It needs a good first weekend showing, else we might not see the sequels.

89 Cruising the various movie websites and the moonbat trolls are out in force! They FEAR this movie bigtime! Maybe its not big budget, but the fact that it is showing at all is important. If this film is successful I think it will be more significant for what it represents in the culture war, rather than what it banks at the box office.
