— andy Here's the kind of looniness we have to put up with in the Bay State: Massachusetts Principal Takes Aim at Fall Holidays, Says They're Insensitive
Anne Foley, the principal at Kennedy School in Somerville, Mass., sent an email to teachers warning them about celebrating Thanksgiving [sic], the Boston Herald reported,"When we were young we might have been able to claim ignorance of the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples," Kennedy School Principal Anne Foley wrote.
"We can no longer do so. For many of us and our students celebrating this particular person is an insult and a slight to the people he annihilated. On the same lines, we need to be careful around the Thanksgiving Day time as well."
Teachers have already been told not to let students dress up for Halloween
The mind. It boggles.
And ninnies like this are everywhere around here.

At the Kennedy School, teachers, staff, and administration treat each student as an individual and provide opportunities and activities to challenge their strengths and strengthen their challenges. We have adopted three themes to focus all teaching and learning:
Success for All StudentsBuilding Community Through Better Communications, and(Re)Discovering the Excitement of Learning.Learn more about how we implement these themes by including all students in least restrictive environments; providing differentiating instruction in heterogeneous classrooms; and analyzing formative and summative assessments to identify and address students' needs.
The Kennedy School is led by Principal Dr. Anne L. Foley and Assistant Principal Mark Hurrie.

HoneywellÂ’s Act!Earth program presented a 90-day challenge to schools. Students in the Somerville Schools were asked to turn off the lights in their school buildings, when not needed, as a way to conserve energy. As a result, district overall savings was $12,000 and Kennedy School won the challenge for the district. Energy saved at the Kennedy School alone in just 90 days could power 8 homes for one year!!
To celebrate our conservation efforts, Honeywell provided Kennedy
School students and staff with a BBQ lunch. The students thank Honeywell and we all thank the students for contributing to the conservation of energy on our planet..

[letter dated 8/2010 posted on the school's website] ......
"Under No Child Left Behind, when schools' English Language Arts (ELA) and math testing results do not improve quickly enough, the schools and the District are assigned an "accountability status." The Somerville School District has now been identified for Corrective Action for certain student subgroups. The Kennedy School has been identified for Restructuring (Year 2) for student subgroups for English Language Arts and Corrective Action for student subgroups for Mathematics. Beck basically reiterated what he'd been saying for over a year....that this thing is a master plan to create chaos and destroy capitalism.
Beck pointed out that he had evidence that the head of the SEIU was even in Egypt and was a part of the protests there. O'Reilly said "Wow".
Then Geraldo came on next.....and said "Oh this thing is not organized, it's a mostly spontaneous thing". Geraldo went on to say that this thing is not a 'global effort' to creat chaos.
And now, this morning....there is news about the "organize Italy" protests against 'corporate greed'.

5 Basic Facts the Left Wants Every Child to Memorize
White people are rich.
Non-whites are poor and oppressed.
The rich acquired their wealth on the backs of non-whites.
The rich, white people use religion to keep non-whites down.
Individualism is a construct created by rich, white people to keep non-whites down.

Global Warming projects are the new thing. I don't know for sure, but I suspect that every grade includes a global warming project as part of the curriculum.
So every year, from K-12, the kids are forced to a) accept global warming, b) be frightened by it, c) blame their parents and grandparents for it, and d) come up with ways to stop it.

From the school's website, clicked on the .pdf of the NCLB report as of 10/01/2009:
The Kennedy School has 461 kids in 10 grades (Pre-K to 8th grade) and 40 teachers.
Point of reference, my local elementary school, the fightin' armadillos of Moore Elementary, has 948 students in 6 grades (K - 5th grade) and about 71 teachers/staff/administrators.
The middle school (Go Hamilton Tigers!) has 1,618 students in grades 6 -8 and about 120 teachers/staff/administrators.
Both schools consistently get an "Exemplary" rating from Texas, not a NCLB corrective action plan. Neither principals are DOCTORS.
Suck it, Principal DOCTOR Anne Foley of John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Somerville, MA.

171 ...171 Vic,
That's true of the plains tribes, who were nomadic. ....But there were other tribes who stayed put. They had refuse dumps that were burried over in time.
My Cherokee great grandmother used to say, that the Indians were screwed because they didn't have their shit together like the white men who were united. ....The tribes around the country were too busy fighting each other to notice what was going on, until it was too late.
Which is why the lib-prog-socialists are trying to divide us with things like Multiculturalism and the colonization of disparate groups of self-interested immigrants.
This country was at its strongest when we concentrated on the things that we all have in common.
That is why they are trying to destroy our Holidays that we have all enjoyed celebrating together. ....At least, thats what I think.

LOL, we have this shitty recycle program here that they started up years ago. It involves separating trash and bagging kitchen garbage in "special bags" that must be purchased at local stores. (i.e. a fee to dump non-recycle). This on top of normal taxes and a special trash tax fee every year.
They had a vote recently at the county council because of widespread dissatisfaction with the "bags". Elimination was defeated and in the debate they finally admitted the real reason. They would lose $500,000 in annual revenues if they did away with it.

“We’re really tired of the government fucking everyone over,” one “Occupy Denver” protester told Daily Caller roving Colorado video reporter Kelly Maher this week.
The young University of Colorado student may appear too young to have much life experience, but yessir — he’s mad as hell and he isn’t going to take it anymore. He sure looks comfortable in that designer jacket, though. (Ladies: Is that Burberry or a knock-off?)
“There’s a lot of stuff that needs to change,” our boy added, “and if it doesn’t, violent revolution will come.”
How to change things for the better? Apparently it just takes a box of bullets and some rope.
“If you get the thirteen families that own the world, including George Bush and his administration, get them in front of the White House and hang them and shoot them, because they deserve that.”

You know what I hate, traffic-wise? The friendly motorist who think they're doing a good deed by stopping so they can wave somebody in front of them when they ignore the fact that there's ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC that they have no say over.
Sure, if traffic is slow and thick I'll stop and wave someone to turn right in front of me, or left if there's no oncoming vehicles. As for pedestrians, fuck 'em. I don't care what the law says. They can wait.
(I saw someone get hit by a car because of this exact same thing. "I'm nice! I'll stop. Go ahead. You can cross." Then BAM! from a car going the other way.)

The stupidest people at grad school were the Education majors. I have a Ph. D. in English, thankfully achieved at Lehigh before it became a cesspool of Idiocy. I checked to see whether I could teach at public schools. Nope. I didn't have the "Education core curriculum" which consisted of learning how to teach, rather than actual teaching, which I have done at the university level.
What happened to just teaching? I don't remember my grade and jr-sr high school teachers as being indoctrinated dolts, but I am an olderish person...

Same thing while a grad student in the grad TA office without windows in the building's inner cavern. Careful not to stumble finding my way to the light switch as I'm turning the light back on, she flings open the door and yells at me for existing. Most of these people probably bounced checks in the past or have some criminal or civil judgement against them. You might be able to open a savings account and use an ATM but not make purchases with the card the bank issues. And supposedly, mind you I say supposedly, these pre-pay cards help you re-establish credit. They don't but hey, whatever sells.

Washington created Thanksgiving as a national day of prayer on the last Thursday in Nov as part of his efforts to re-unify the country--one third of which, according to most estimates, were 'loyalists' and another third or so sitting on the fence.
Lincoln made Thanksgiving into a US holiday, meaning that US govt offices would be closed--employees being paid to do nothing at home ( instead of being paid to do nothing / Not Much on the job ), as part of his effort to re-unify the country at a point ( late 1863, after Gettysburg and Vicksburg ) when the Union forces were likely to prevail.
Winners call for prayer; it's the Civilized thing to do...........

Fortunately, yes. A family run place with two screens in a converted cow pasture. For $5/person admission, you get to watch a first run double feature on either screen, usually they are paired in topic/theme. Snack bar items are moderately priced and the rule against bringing your own is not enforced. Just the way it oughta be, you pay a slight bit more for the convenience of not having to pack a cooler / bag o' snacks.

Also, there these allegations floating around:
Did the U.S. fabricate the Iran plot?
Personally? I don't think this was fabricated, but if the MFM is questioning the timing of this, Obama is going to have a hard time politically (primarily from his own base) ordering military strikes, much less boots on the ground, on Iran.

Doesn't the Spaniard/Portugese part make them part white, and the rest make them Amerindian? And they could also be part African, too.
It all gets confusing, which I guess is why "Hispanic" is a nonracial descriptor.

Beck calls it an SEIU, socialist, Marxist, and Communist party concerted effort to topple governments worldwide.
Yeah, Beck did a couple of shows on this "movement" before he left FNC. Showed who was behind it in its infancy, and they were all washed-up, drug-addled radicals left over from the '60's that did the brown acid they were warned about at Woodstock.
It's funny that the leftards can't come up with anything more original than a rehash of their misspent yoot and dreams of changing the world (with them in charge, naturally). If you read the Weather Underground's Manifesto from that era, they used the same old tired cliches then as today: racism, inequality, economic disparity and, IIRC, painful rectal itch.

I meant they asked Cain if he wasn't just the "flavor of the week" as the media loves to portray each new Republican front-runner, like it's somehow indicative of desparation that the Repubs have multiple candidates vying for the nomination. Anyway, Cain really impressed me, not only with the substance of his answers, but with the way he took each question and deftly turned it into a way to illustrate his strengths as an experienced business executive. You could almost hear the host, Scott Simon, grinding his teeth in frustration, wishing he had a typical RINO on the line who just wanted to suck up in hopes of not being smacked around too badly. Obviously, an unscripted Cain-Obama debate would be a bloodbath, and Obama would not survive it.

Next step if the education/humiliation thing has little to no effect. I think they're just unaware by and large. Old school station wagons and pickups just lowered the tailgate and caused no one no probs. Newer SUV raise the hatch and it's oughta sight, oughta mind. For them.
'Cause they swarm the first two rows and just don't think about those behind them. Maybe a word or two of suggestion to the Drive-In owners about reminding drivers to be courteous to those watching in rows behind them.

"When we were young we might have been able to claim ignorance of the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples," Kennedy School Principal Anne Foley wrote.
"We can no longer do so. For many of us and our students celebrating this particular person is an insult and a slight to the people he annihilated. On the same lines, we need to be careful around the Thanksgiving Day time as well."
Yes, Christopher Columbus personally slaughtered millions and millions of natives. Despite that he first found an island in the carib and I don't recall off the top of my head if he ever set foot, or even saw, the mainland that would become the United States.
I am fairly sure the natives were doing just dandy on killing each other off in ritual warfare before the conquistadores sped the process up.

While I don't think the protesters themselves are intelligent enough to put synapses together to ask questions like "hey, who is paying for all the food and other free shit we're getting" and "hey, who pressured the NYC pols to pressure Brookfield not to clean up" and "hey, who is creating the structure of these supposedly 'spontaneous' protests around the country--that all have the same 'teams' and eerily similar websites" I do believe that there are people behind this happening now and in the way it is happening.
I mean there's already ample evidence it was started by that Canadian magazine "AdBusters" and there's been a tracing of its funding back to one of the Soros organizations. I think the emails Breitbart obtained also show other hands pulling the strings as well.
So, yeah, I believe this "spontaneous" movement has been carefully orchestrated. Sadly they can't control the crazies they've enlisted which is going to end up biting them in the butt.

"There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages." - John F*cking Kerry"

Hmmm...he did teach, somrthing . From the NYT...
His most original course, a historical and political seminar as much as a legal one, was on racism and law. Mr. Obama improvised his own textbook, including classic cases like Brown v. Board of Education, and essays by Frederick Douglass, W. E. B. Dubois, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, as well as conservative thinkers like Robert H. Bork.
Mr. Obama was especially eager for his charges to understand the horrors of the past, students say. He assigned a 1919 catalog of lynching victims, including some who were first raped or stripped of their ears and fingers, others who were pregnant or lynched with their children, and some whose charred bodies were sold off, bone fragment by bone fragment, to gawkersÂ…
In one class on race, he imitated the way clueless white people talked. “Why are your friends at the housing projects shooting each other?” he asked in a mock-innocent voice…http://tinyurl.com/6ennh7

"melrosekiki" -Somerville and Arlington are examples of what our "liberal" politically correct friends can do. Up until the mid 1980's these areas where nice affordable communities for the ethnic working class, middle class and even upper middle class. Then those tolerant and liberal folks moved in and called it "gentrification". In other words because they are so much "better" than we common working folks that their moving in is an "improvement". No classism there. Suddenly rents soared as well as house prices. The working class and middle class were priced out of their long time neighborhoods. Suddenly the bland childless cookie cutter people moved in. They talk in the same monotone over pronouncement of R's lingo. They drive the same type of cars even. Funny how the most liberal areas are the least affordable to working class people...

From the "Gee, now why didn't we think of that" pile:
"Congressional leadership had a deadline of today to provide recommendations to the Super Congress. The House Democrats' plan is big on growth, with a jobs focus." - KosKiddies main page lead sentence.
Somehow, I don't think they ascribe the same meaning to those words as are conventionally understood.

"Hispanic" referenced mixed Spaniard blood with the American indigenous tribes and came of usage at the point when America became expansionist in order to homogenize all cultures derived of native American with Spanish imposition with a single label. Abbreviation is modernity. And yes, it's a small world.
That "white" encompasses all that isn't "black" today simply illustrates that words today are words, just words, without original definition given revisionism.
Amerindian makes no sense to American immigrants from India. Try explaining it to their kids and watch their eyes mock the stupid obstinacy of retaining "Indian" to describe the tribes indigenous to America given that our society has a fetish revising the current lingo. Also, Amerindian doesn't follow the traditional context of Amerasian describing "white/whatever" European descent Americans breeding with Asians. Hence, an Amerindian would combine "white" American with a "real" Indian whose ancestry is from India.
What it all boils down to is MLKjr's point: character matters rather than skin tone.
One significant facet regarding "race" is learning more about our American indigenous tribes. Morgan Freeman made a "conservative" statement in that "Black History" is American History. Obviously, the native tribes trump that call.
From this past week's news, Obama's readiness to feature more Hispanic themed national parks etc. is ridiculous. They already exist. The Alamo may be the most famous, but San Antonio features a multitude of old Spanish missions typical throughout the great American Southwest open for visitors. Sante Fe and Tucson have an old missions, as missions are found throughout California, all featured as historical sites. What would be more educationally informative and require no tax funds to be squandered is for places retaining or featuring the indigenous American names, Detroit for instance, or Montezuma's Castle, to clarify where the name originated and who decided to name the place accordingly. Mississippi is possibly based on the Chippewa Indian words "mici zibi" meaning "great river" or the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe or Algonquin) name for the river, "Misi-ziibi." Now, who were the Anishinaabe, etc.?

Some more absolute bullshit going down in MA and this is damn serious
The police in Tewskbury, MA are teaming with the feds to use federal civil forfeiture laws to seize a family owned motel (the locals keep 80%) worth $1M. This because an extremely small fraction of their guests there have been nabbed using drugs.
For the life of me I can not see how the courts have ruled these BS civil forfeitures legal. It defies all legal reasoning, but they have. Ace was alluding to the fact that it may be time to get rid of all this BS with the drug laws because the damn laws and corruption have become worse than the drugs. I think he is right.

Uhhh Bar Uhhh ack Uhh O Uhh Er Uhh bam Uhh at Patterico.
Via BreitbartTV and Hugh Hewitt, we have this string of uhhhs from the most articulate president in history. See if you can make it through the whole thing:
The caption states:
Thanks to the Hugh Hewitt Show, we have 2:47 of “Uh, Um, Er” from Thursday’s presidential press conference in Washington DC. The audio you hear is taken from President Obama’s responses to two questions. There are no duplicates.
Uhhh er and uhhh um . . .
I lasted 60 seconds, and have no interest in bettering that time. Try it for yourself!

MLKjr. was a Republican, whether or not Sharpton was at any time.
Furthermore, the crew with the most to gain from MLK's assassination were those ready to hijack the entire civil rights movement into the Marxist Black Liberation Theology fold with political barkers like Sharpton and full-time goatherds like Rev.Wright. "Social Justice" means inequality under the law and contradicts our American Pledge of Allegiance, "and justice for all."

And once again - WTF does Columbus have to do with Thanksgiving and Halloween??
Could you show me all the slaughters and rapes in the New Testament? I guess I missed the part where Jesus said to commit genocide. Would you be so kind as to point it out for me? You DO know that the Old Testament is history and pre-Christianity and that the New Testament is Christianity?

Make that George Soros instead of George Bush, and I'm with 'em.
Also how do they arrive at the figure thirteen?

How about hadn't personally set up the first slavery systems in North American, didn't have many people murdered, didn't destroy an entire native population estimated to number around 3 million, didn't sell 9 and 10 year old children into sex slavery to please his men.
How about some basic standards like that?
