Maxine Waters: Blacks Are Getting Tired of Making Excuses For Obama
— Ace

Now, I'm lost: According to Ed Schultz, "reminding" the public that the president is black (did they not realize?) is racist.

So Maxine Waters, by focusing laser-like on the black president's problems with black voters, must be extremely racist.

She's actually making excuses for herself. The crowd wants her to pressure the president to do something for the black community (wouldn't doing something for the American economy generally do something for the black community?), and her excuse is that she hasn't gone after him because "Ya'll love him" (y'all -- what a giveaway, racist) too much.

Video at the link (which should be watched, because the crowd here is "fired up, ready to go!" in ways Obama would not like), but here is some print:

During a sometimes-raucous session of what's being called the "For the People" Jobs Initiative tour, a key member of the Congressional Black Caucus told an audience in Detroit Tuesday that the CBC doesn't put pressure on President Obama because he is loved by black voters. But at the same time, Rep. Maxine Waters said, members of the CBC are becoming increasingly tired and frustrated by Obama's performance on the issue of jobs. Even as she expressed support for the president, Waters virtually invited the crowd to "unleash us" to pressure Obama for action.

As she discussed her dilemma -- frustrated with the president but hesitant to criticize him lest black supporters turn on her -- Waters asked the crowd for its permission to have a "conversation" with the president. "When you tell us it's alright and you unleash us and you tell us you're ready for us to have this conversation, we're ready to have the conversation," she said. Some members of the crowd immediately voiced their approval.
"All I'm saying to you is, we're politicians," Waters continued. "We're elected officials. We are trying to do the right thing and the best thing. When you let us know it is time to let go, we'll let go."
"Let go!" some in the audience yelled.

Well.

He did say he would unite us.

Obviously the didn't read the WSJ headline this morning:

This is significant for two reasons (1) More indications that most sane reporters consider this a campaign trip and (2) This indicates that their internals show that he is in serious trouble with non-minority voters.

Man, that's whiter than even a Tea Party rally. But, wasn't it Al Sharpton who just said recently that blacks should not publicly criticize Obama? I guess Maxine didn't get that message.

Maybe one day blacks will wake up and see that the Democrats are their worst enemy. Illegal immigration, has hurt blacks, I think, more than most others. Where I'm from jobs that routinely used to go to young black adults now go to middle aged Mexicans. I live in a community that's overwhelmingly black, but Mexicans have most of the jobs and the black kids are out on the streets. And, one thing about Latinos, when you get them into management, they will only hire other Latinos, whether it be in gardening, construction, or food service - they're not really concerned about a diverse workforce, LOL.

Because black voters refuse to actually threaten Democrats with their votes. The "black community" should be tired of making excuses for Maxine Waters and the Democrat party. Has the party accomplished anything significant for the "black community" in 6 decades? Like Rep. West said, MLK would have a tear in his eye at the decline of the work ethic, morals, and famliy values in the 'black community".

I'd love someone to articulate that the best medicine for blacks is liberty and self reliance. The government programs designed to lefit these people up are actually holding them down. Its not that conservatives dont care about the poor, its that we beleive the poor are best served by giving them an opportunity to make it on their own. A handout simply destorys ones self worth and motivation.

My initial responses are:

1. The CBC wants more graft than Obama is willing to give them

or

2. The Dems as a whole see a train wreck coming and have asked the CBC to lay the groundwork for a primary challenge that doesn't depress turnout of the black vote

I'm leaning toward #2 because the publicly-available polls are all showing Obama cratering in states which should be Dem strongholds, which means that his numbers in the states he absolutely needs in order to win must be horrible.

If the Dems don't find a replacement for him, this is going to end up being a massive wipeout for Dems in the House and Senate.

Pilate was thought to be Procurator, or at most, a ProPraetor, whose term was 1 to 4 years depending on the political climate at the time.

Pilate was there as the modern equivalent of a mayor or governor, and his job was to collect taxes and maintain order. period. He didn't go around raping and killing, because he'd be prosecuted for it after his term if he did.

The Romans invented the rule of law, and mindless murder wasn't tolerated. Geez, even Julius Caesar wasn't immune to this, as he started a civil war just to avoid being prosecuted by his enemies once his term as proconsul of transalpine gaul was over.
