— Ace They watched it like a hawk during the Bush presidency, and made sure you knew (or thought) that Bush's policies or lack thereof were driving the price.
Now, not so much. True, this is a mention in the media, but there's a big difference between a non-highlighted print mention and all three network newscasts displaying that Big Scary Up Arrow graphic as they note the rising cost of gas three times a week.
If political unrest in Libya spreads to other oil-rich countries and the ensuing chaos disrupts crude oil production, gas prices could hit $5 a gallon by peak summer driving season, industry analysts say.
I'm sure the media believes this is not Obama's fault. But instead of reporting the facts and either just trusting the public to figure things out for themselves, or offering some spin on behalf of Obama's failed administration, they simply choose to not report the facts in the first place. It's easier that way.
Of course, if the theory that the public will unfairly blame the president for ills not directly under his control is true, that means the media played their favored role as DNC shill by always mentioning oil prices under Bush; but I guess in some cases they don't mind so much if the public draws unfair inferences.

Would it be nice if the media would talk about it? Sure, but it's never going to happen so i'm going to be cautiously optimistic that the American people aren't dolts....

Won't do any good to the world market price of oil.

This jackass stopped drilling in the Gulf, does everything he can to not issue permits, is held in contempt by a federal judge, still does nothing, won't allow new coal, won't move forward on nuclear, or anwar or oil shale....etc etc....
Damn right he is to blame.

Now that it is going higher under Bambi, they are getting what they wanted, so this is good news to them and will not be reported.

Not a bad plan, because it will work with the MBM

This is one of those times.
With America in a depression.
O decides to export American jobs by denying all drilling permits in the gulf.
Ignoring court orders to the point of contempt of the judiciary.
Weakening domestic oil supply; increasing dependence on foreign oil.
And now we have rising oil prices, coupled with crushing unemployment, and the Mideast is in utter chaos.
O's economic policy, O's energy policy, O's foriegn policy. Cutting questions from the MBM ...O.
Like I said sometimes they really try my patience.

Umm, you know gas has been in the news before even GW.
History goes back more than ten years.
What is this "fairness" you speak of?
Anyone want to take bets against the MBM embargoing Obama's oil policies and lawbreaking in the context of gas price stories?

Que the "record profits for oil companies" tape in 3, 2, 1...
and load the "now is not the time for profits" spiel script into TOTUS.
It's coming, you watch.

"If we start breaking the $4 barrier, they're going to have to start reporting it."
I gotta hand it to you, Rich C - that's some pure comedy gold right there, baby!

So were the huge "sin tax" hikes Ogabe signed into law within weeks of taking office. Pretty much any unitized/excise tax on general consumables is regressive in nature.

Of course, the MBM will counter that Americans already know the price at the pump, it's time to move onto informing them of Slutney Spears new CD, Lindsay Lohan's latest drunken crotch shot, Kim Kardashian's new perfume line, or how those evil Rethuglikkkans are oppressing the poor hardworking families in Wisconsin
The MBM is ignoring food price inflation too.
But Helicopter Ben and Turbo Tim say there's no inflation, Paul Krugman, Super Genius says we have deflation. They're the EXPERTS you know, who are you going to believe, them or your lying credit card statements

4 Add soaring gas prices to the mix and Obama is done.
Yeah, this certainly won't do anything good for an otherwise moribound economy. We're about to get screwed and not enjoy it.

Speaking of the MFM and their lack of reporting issues.....
Has anyone noticed that since the media elected Obama, we no longer have daily death tolls for our military in the Middle East? Apparently we are not losing soldiers in battle anymore now that Barry has taken over and reimplemented the Bush strategy on war in the sandbox.
Or is it just me?

I lived near a guy who had a bumper sticker that said
"Gas was $____ when George Bush took office, now it is $____"
I forget what gas was when bush took office, but he would literally update the actual price of gas with sticker numbers on a weekly bases.
Haven't seen an obama version yet
