— Ace It isn't just Michael Moore, of course.
Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren also hinted that if the rich don't pony up more money, bad things could happen.
That was the most outrageous part of Elizabeth Warren's beloved-by-the-left remarks.
"You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for... You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory."
Who would these marauding bands consist of? Seems to me they'd consist primarily of Elizabeth Warren's electoral coalition.
So this, to me, is a not-so-veiled threat: This is going to happen, either by an orderly process with professional government wealth redistribution agents, or a disorderly process-- Warren's "marauding bands."
Pay us this much "voluntarily" or you just might lose it all involuntarily.
Your choice.

I asked, “Well what is going to happen to those people we can’t reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?” And the reply was that they’d have to be eliminated.
And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers.
And when I say “eliminate,” I mean “kill.”

With that said... I am torn between rage and amusement. On the one hand, this passive-aggressive hinting-at-violence cutesy act is irritating in the extreme.
On the flip side of the coin, that the American Left fantasizes about conquering a host of Righties makes me want to laugh.

They must be like catnip for the Feds too.
Every moonbat rubs one out to the thought of three scenarios:
1. Cowboys in black BATF and FBI fatigues rounding Republicans up and imprisoning us for our heretical beliefs.
2. A thousand little Wacos. Where we and our families get slaughtered and burned up in our homes one by one as they sip lattes at Starbucks.
3. They push until someone on the right cracks and gets violent, thereby making 1 and 2 easier for them to explain and justify.

I would be foolish to wish for open civil war. I like my comforts too much and can only begin to imagine the horrors this would bring. But there is a large part of me that is ready to fucking boil over and wants to get it the fuck over with. I guess what I'm saying is that if what they want is Mad Max then let's do it all the way. What worries me is that this starts out incrementally, with parts of the law still in place...just enough of it to get me in trouble for pushing back, but not enough to punish the real instigators.Kind of like what I heard was going on in England where shop owners were more afraid of their own police cracking down on them than in doing their policing jobs and controlling the rioters.

One part of me is sick with disappointment that there are real people talking this way about our country and citizens. I am afraid that this kind of talk will eventually escalate and something DOES happen and people get hurt.
The other (darker) part of me wishes something DOES happen so that a civil is declared once and for all (game on!) and we can settle this issue in a matter of days, if not weeks. Large tracts of the west coast and north east will disappear, but our country will come out of it better off for the long run.

Is the lard ass calling on people to attack him and take his money? And for all these Hollywood or "celebrity" nit wits who can't keep their uninformed mouths shut about politics I have a simple solution. If you think the rich aren't taxed enough then you should be taxed at 100%.
In fact, I saw that dipshit Ron Howard being interviewed saying that back when the Andy Griffith show was on the rich were taxed at 90% and things were great then. Fine asswipe then give 90% of your income to the government and shut up about it.

The saddest part of this is that it's not at all unexpected. I'd like to say this kind of vitriolic commentary from the Left is a dangerous departure from the norm, but come on. We're talking about the same kind of people who claim Union violence (like, oh, getting stabbed in the neck) isn't illegal because it's a "legitimate union activity."
Yeah. Okay.
We all know this is how they've always felt, and more than once how they've talked. They're just getting louder now because they're terrified that their fragile grip on the national consciousness is really going to slip away once and for all. Nothing like death of a juvenile pipe dream to make the banshees shriek.
Admittedly Michael Moore is fatter than your average banshee, but six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I've been worried lately that I've been entering tin-foil hat territory.
Because this possibility has started to seem real to me.
It seems incomprehensible to me, as a citizen of the United States, that I should be worried about mass violence in the streets or a government using force against it's citizens like a third world banana republic but there ya have it.
I make jokes about turning into a one-woman militia in Manolo Blaniks, trade snark with friends about the "compound" or preparing for a zombie apocalypse. But it's there, nibbling around the edges of my consciousness.
For my entire life my faith in the US (even back when I was a raging liberal) was immutable. My belief in America was like my belief in gravity. It was what it was and nothing could possibly change it. Things might get a little out of whack but the basic structure was such that it would self-correct.
Now ... I don't know what to think.

Still, it's transparent to anyone paying attention that we're moving from taxing income to taking wealth. The numbers show the "rich" pay a higher rate than everyone else. Libs are transitioning into the, "Yeah, but look how much wealth they have acquired."
They are going to figure out a way to confiscate wealth and assets because, well, some people not only earn too much, they just have too much.

Blue collar liberal fool does pretty much describe the fine voters of Illinois. If they were "conservative", they wouldn't happily vote for the lowest form of liberals that you can find on the national stage and people like Farrakhan and Phleger wouldn't be treated with an ounce of respect. Heck, the Chicago Tribune won't give out the race of criminals because, gosh darn it, it just isn't relevant for people to know the race of a marauding rapist on the loose. Of course, with the Trib, you know if they don't describe the offender what the race is.

But he is not demonstrating that he can handle the upcoming general campaign well. Maybe he will demonstrate otherwise in the months ahead. In the meantime, I must look at other candidates who may be less in agreement on a range of policy issues but may be better able what will be a dirty campaign. Romney happens to be the other candidate with considerable experience relevant to the office he/she is seeking.

Kind of related, in terms of intimidating people, one of the teacher's unions for a school district here just sent a letter to all the teachers in the district that specifically called out 2 parents in the district who are the legislative chairs for the PTA and implied that the parents are schills for corporations that want to take over the schools, eliminate the teachers, and make lots of money.
It's now getting down to the level where a parent who volunteers at their child's school is fair game to intimidate. Imagine what the parents thought in terms of their kids in the classroom every day facing teachers who received this letter.

But today we got good news, of a sort. The interest rates have dropped enough since our house purchase a couple of months ago that it is worthwhile to refinance (says our mortgage broker, we talk to him next week). And, somehow, miraculously the comps in our neighborhood this past couple of months have been favorable, so our PMI will go away and the mortgage broker/company would be willing to eat the fees. So supposedly we don't pay out of pocket either and we get a more favorable loan.
I guess economic doom has some up sides.

It's now getting down to the level where a parent who volunteers at their child's school is fair game to intimidate. Imagine what the parents thought in terms of their kids in the classroom every day facing teachers who received this letter.
I have long believed that the nastiest political fights of all are for school board. I lived in an area where the teachers were either on strike, threatening to go on strike or demanding the last contract be voided for nearly 20 years. The local school board elections were vicious. More than one marriage ended what with the revelations of affairs, alcoholism, drug use and all the other dirty laundry that got aired.

Posted by: Soona - Tearorrist at September 23, 2011 11:55 AM (UnAol)
Yeah, we would never do an adjustable rate mortgage.
What I'd like to do is a shorter term mortgage. We were close to do a 15 year when we bought the house, but we were concerned about strapping ourselves too much, especially since we're new to the area, have no family nearby, and I'm still not working.
IIRC the terms of our PMI allowed us to pay it off early (which my expectation was that we would... probably next year after our car is paid off) without penalty, but I will be on the watch for that.
I think it may just be that we are good borrowers in a market that is so bad for lenders, so I assume they make money just on the process of writing the loans or something. Plus, my husband's position is somewhat influential in the community so I *think* that means they wouldn't try to screw us as it's a local lender, not a big bank or soemthing.
Who knows. My faith in human nature and trust in people is pretty low right now, but I am usually an optimist, so I'd like to believe this really is ust a good deal for us.

Thanks for the clarification.
NO, we considered doing that but decided against it. Maybe we'll be ok.
It's amazing to me that rates have dropped low enough to make this an option to consider. And even more amazing to me that the housing prices in our neighborhood have been stable (or strong?) enough to keep our house's value up. We did try to get into the best neighborhood we could get into, but we did not get the deal of the century on the house (we just didn't feel up to going for a house that needed a lot of work, for example), so I've been afraid to look at Zillow.
Thanks so much to you morons and moronettes. You really are a source of support when things go sour.

The biggest flaw in this thinking is that the dirt poor in this country are primarily morons. And morons shit where they eat. They won't even get to the wealthy because first they'll destroy their own neighborhoods and then everyone else will be waiting for them with pitchforks and shotguns.
Yes, again in reference to the Rodney King rioting I know this to be true. Idiot rioters were burning down their own stores, DMVs, and destroying their other public services. Where I lived, we were locked and loaded waiting for any rioters. None ever came to our neighborhood - they at least knew better than to do that. I remember seeing neighborhood men waiting on their rooftops with weapons scouting for any trouble. Good times.

296....This from RedState:
By any objective measure, Rick Perry did not perform well in last nightÂ’s debate. According to people who have followed Perry throughout his career, he has never won a single debate he has participated in, and yet he continues to win elections. More importantly, he continues to do a good job as Governor of Texas. There is much to be said for the idea that we ought to prefer the candidate who is better at governing than debating; after all, the country went the other way in 2008, and that hasnÂ’t turned out so well.
Posted by Joffen
-------------------
Thanks, I haven't checked RedState in a while.
Perry is establishing himself as 'the guy who tells the truth even when it hurts him'. ....Which is a refreshing change for a lot of people.
I've been thinking about it......and I was trying to remember when we had a Republican win the WH who said he "would be tough on illegals" if elected.
Bush Jr and Sr were both 'compassionate'.
Reagan - the only one to ever give Amnesty, wasn't he?
Ford - wasn't elected, he succeeded Nixon-Agnew.
Nixon - I really don't know, was he tough on illegal immigration?
Bottom line is.....the candidates who are acting all tough right now about illegal immigration, are most likely hitting their deathnail for any hope of winning the general.
It's sort of a conundrum.

Well .. Liz Warren's comments, along with Mike Moore's musings tell me that they are WAKING UP as Marxists.
You see - say what you will about Socialism being a failed and evil concept (it certainly is) ... but Karl Marx knew more than the Socialists did.
Karl Marx knew that, no matter what a Socialist did to separate a capitalist from his money - the capitalist would always "outsmart" the Socialist. Marx knew this ... and I think he knew this because he knew that good capitalists were a lot farther right on the bell curve than even the best Socialists.
So Marx advocated TAKING from the capitalists - by force of arms. That, to me, is really the key distinction between Socialism and Marxism. Socialism is a kind of "We can all get along - please give us your money" ... while Marxism is ... "Hey, it's your money or your life!"
That's why Marxism is superior to Socialism. Marx knew that no one who believed in his bullshit would be smart enough to outsmart capitalists - but any idiot can be pretty convincing when he's holding a Mauser.
