Mitt Romney Goes After Obama On Jobs
— DrewM

Great idea...Obama has thrown American jobs under the bus.

A little long but that's a nit.

But don't worry you bumps, Green Jobs are coming. No wait, they aren't.

Nearly three years into Obama's presidency, the White House can't point to much solid evidence that significant numbers of Americans are scoring the green jobs the president has been touting.

Monthly Labor Department employment reports say nothing about the new clean energy workforce, while an effort to document how many Americans actually make a living in the "green collar" field may not be done by November 2012.

Obama's Council of Economic Advisers suggests 225,000 clean energy jobs were either created or preserved through the third quarter of 2010 thanks to more than $80 billion in the economic stimulus package. But those are estimates at best.

...The White House figures 825,000 Americans should be building electric car batteries, retrofitting homes or doing other green collar work by the end of 2012. But that too is an extrapolation.

"It's certainly a good thing if those numbers are believable," said Jerry Webman, chief economist at the Oppenheimer Funds. "But they're not a large enough number for the nation or Obama's job creation problem."

So the "green jobs" numbers are A-Made up, B-Massively underwritten by public money and C-Even if real not big enough to make a difference.

I'm struck how much of a failure Obama is as the FBP.  You know who the First Black President was supposed to be?  Morgan Freeman.

Well, it was supposed to be someone old, venerable, loved by everyone and probably who accidentally became president because of Racist America.

It wasn't supposed to be a glib jerk and rabid ideologue with a confused background, no extemporaneous speaking skills and daddy issues who was eagerly elected by many people for no other reason than that he is black.  And he is an unmitigated failure in nearly every possible aspect. Given the army of advisers that a president has propping him up, it is impossible to be this much of a failure without trying very very very hard to do so.

Think about it: We've done it. The impossible.  The never-gonna-happen.  We've elected a black president.  Yet we still have MLK day and does anybody doubt that MLK will be a revered figure long after Obama fades into obscurity.

He will be clothed in excuses like a Moscow dowager, true, but he will still be a failure.

Mitt Romney:

* Against building a wall on the Mexican border.
* Against arresting illegal aliens and deporting them.
* Against arresting homeowners who hire illegals.
* Against arresting CEO's of businesses that hire illegals.

* For comprehensive amnesty
* For giving illegals health care
* Actually hired illegals to take care of his lawn.

*For ObamaCare as long as states do it.

Mitt Romney is wrong for America and wrong for the Republican Party and if Republicans nominate him we will form a third party called the Tea Party.

127 Someguy, no, the time to start a third party is not for a presidential election.  You start a third party at the grass roots level, electing individual representatives first - getting the people used to the idea that, for instance, the Tea Party isn't made up of nuts but, rather, serious and capapable people.   It would be easier for a life long/family long democrat to change to a Tea Partier than it would be to change to a republican.

"It would be easier for a life long/family long democrat to change to a Tea Partier than it would be to change to a republican."

The point of creating a Tea Party wouldn't be destroying the Democrat Party. The point of it would be to destroy the Republican Party.

You see if the Republican Party nominates Mitt Romney, then it's not different enough from the Democrat Party to matter. So it will have to be destroyed so that there is an alternative to the Democrat Party.

Mitt Romney isn't very different from Barack Obama. If Republicans nominate him, the party is finished and I'll help lead its destruction.

DURHAM, N.C. – President Barack Obama promoted job creation in politically important North Carolina Monday, trying to assure Americans he's focused on their No. 1 concern — and his greatest political weakness — as his potential GOP presidential opponents prepared to target his economic policies in their first major debate.

Speaking at an energy-efficient lighting plant in Durham, Obama called for training more engineers as a means to boost long-term economic growth

And how exactly is that going to create jobs?

"We stabilized the economy, we prevented a financial meltdown and an economy that was shrinking is now growing. We've added more than 2 million private sector jobs over the last 15 months alone, but, I'm still not satisfied.

2 million in the last 15 months? He must be hitting the drugs again

Obama announced details of a program to train 10,000 new American engineers every year, saying private companies will join the government to promote education in science, technology, engineering and math.

Da comrade, sounds like good 5 year plan.

For an election slogan, I like Peggy Noonan's suggestion of "He made it worse". Every problem we had when Obama took office is now worse because of his actions.

"Believe in America" is just way too smarmy. But, on the other hand, it's probably perfect for Romney for just that reason.

"... if Romney can beat Obozo - then we are dumb not to give Romney our support."

But Mitt Romney isn't running against Barack Obama. He's competing against OTHER Republicans (at least where he's not refusing to put himself on the ballot such as in Iowa).

Any Republican that we nominate can beat Obama. So why should we elect one who espouses precisely the same policies as Barack Obama?

That would be stupid.

Posted by: someguy at June 13, 2011 10:48 AM (iIQ0a)

140 Romney has to stop saying stupid things like "man made global warming" and stop defending Romneycare.

I like about 90% of his message but deep down I think he wants to be president more than he wants to be a conservative, meaning, if two years into his presidency universal healthcare was popular I think Romany would pass it to get a second term. I don't trust his ideology or lack of a coherent one to be precise.

143 someguy: But Mitt Romney isn't running against Barack Obama. He's competing against OTHER Republicans (at least where he's not refusing to put himself on the ballot such as in Iowa).

But, Romney IS running against Obama. Romney's gambit is that he can ignore you fucking ideological morons and go right out-of-the-gate after Obama. The idea being if he isn't killed by the morons on his team, he'll have positioned himself to defeat the Kenyan in the general from a vantage point of greatest advantage to him (given the general's electoral demographics).

Why go after Obama now? So that by the time next November hits, the general population will have it ingrained as an instinctual connection that Romney is a successful business leader that turns around failing companies and Obama is a failure who has never had a private sector job his entire life, instead living off of hand-outs and grants in the academic world. The stupid blue-on-blue attacks over ideology are just pathetic.

someguy: Any Republican that we nominate can beat Obama. So why should we elect one who espouses precisely the same policies as Barack Obama.

This is just untrue. Any objective study of the electoral landscape that's cross-referenced with recent polling will demonstrate that there is a small characteristic region that a republican candidate must fit into to be broadly acceptable in the 2012 voter landscape: Romney works well. Huntsman perhaps. Pawlenty potentially!

It's clear from your post that you has not thought these issues through either enough, without ideological bias or with enough resources...

144 Ohh, and as I've mentioned, for those who are more of the religious right: tonight's debate should be interesting to see how Michelle Bachmann plays. I for one thought that was a very effective ad. And the PC/ diversity quota element, while a bit heavy handed, works in my opinion because its hits the Dems where it hurts most. When the GOP settles on a better nominee than Romney they should retool the ad for the general election.
