There are other models that show Obama losing, but not at that low level of support.

Perry's national team has some notable additions (link to RedState).
"Governor Rick Perry’s campaign is making news today in anticipation of his flat tax release tomorrow. He’s adding national staff, but not just any staff — staff that led insurgent bids against the GOP establishment.
Nelson Warfield is known among conservatives as the guy who went in and helped Doug Hoffman against Dede Scozzafava...
Nelson Warfield will be joined by Tony Fabrizio, a well respected pollster, and Curt Anderson..." who are known for helping Rick Scott win his upset election.

Don't forget, Clinton won both his terms with less than 50% of the vote. Thanks to Ross Perot.
So, part of Obama's campaign will be to have their media allies (isn't that redundant?) highlight the lack of enthusiaism for Romney to try and prod a "true conservative" to mount a third party run.
Or Ron Paul may decide to go third party.
Either way, it's entirely possible that Obama can get re-elected with around 43-44% of the vote.

Not just the fringe, but their are a lot of head in the sand moderate Dems who just can't believe that their party is hard core socialist now. And they have their head so far up their ass listening to dem talking points about how *you lie*, it is impossible to convince them with facts that they are destroying a free nation. I know these folks. They think they are "reasonable" and "Willing to listen to both sides" but in reality will find some reason, even if manufactured, as to why they *must* vote for Obama for another term. I call them the sociacost deniers. Stalin called them useful idiots.

Obama killed Osama
He watched a special forces unit go in on his orders after he waffled for six months about doing it
Toppled Gaddafi
Leading from behind as usual, broke every rule the left bashed Bush for and takes credit as usual for the hard work done by others
Didn't screw up a hurricane
He hasn't had one to screw up yet, but he sure turned the Gulf Oil spill into one giant clusterfuck
Prevented the Second Great Depression
Unqualifiable, like saying he causes the sun to rise in the East
and brought you motherfuckers donuts
Notice it says brought, not bought. Again taking credit for the money spent by others as if he was the big giver
You're welcome
Fuck you very much, Jugears

here's my list:
Obama has put millions more on Food Stamps
Obama has facilitated and fostered the housing/foreclosure crisis.
Obama had the worst single months-losses in Afghanistan.
Obama has given us 3 years of high unemployment.
Obama has given us gas prices consistently over $3/gal for over two years.
And Obama has put us another $4T deeper in debt.
And Obama's 'recovery' is one of the longest, if not the longest recession in our nation's history.
So Fuck You, You Obama Rump Swab Facebook Faggot.

I never said he wasn't worse in some other areas. The fact is, though, that Romney is far better fiscally than McCain was, and I do trust him more on the border than I do McCain.
That doesn't help with RomneyCare, of course, and that's the thing he'll never overcome in my book (which is why I refuse to pull the lever for Romney, unless some terrible thing occurs and it looks like Texas will actually be a close race in 2012). But he's not actually MORE of a RINO than McCain.

So if he goes from 52.9% of the vote down to 43.5 that's a loss of 9.4%
Applyng that equally across all 57 states, here are the ons that he won with < 59.4% of the vote that would would flip red...
Maine 4 Washington 11 Michigan 17 New Jersey 15 New Mexico 5 Oregon 7 Wisconsin 10 Nevada 5 Pennsylvania 21 New Hampshire 4 Minnesota 10 Iowa 7 Colorado 9 Virginia 13 Ohio 20 Florida 27
And the Republican would win 40 states and 389 EVs
The dead-ender Blue states would be
D. C. 3 Hawaii 4 Vermont 3 New York 31 Rhode Island 4 Maryland 10 Delaware 3 Illinois 21 Massachusetts 12 California 55 Connecticut 7
So long as the special seven states don't have over 236 EVs we should be OK

That brings up a point I've been wondering about.
Given Romneys belief system, COULD he lead us in a War? Does he have the Cojones to be a Wartime President? Because last time I looked, we were already in a couple...
I think he would, provided he got the OK from the focus groups and opinion pollsters first.

170 Someone please tell me on what occasions would anyone want to wear a kilt, other than funerals or marching in parades or shopping malls.

He would then issue a 1 minute statement, but you wouldn't know if we were in a war or not after he finished.

I don't buy the model projection. For one thing, the hardcore Left has been grooming Barack Obama for this role for decades. Witness his rise to power: the disqualification of all of his opponents in his first bid for elected office, the unsealing of Jack and Jeri Ryan's sealed divorce records, the silencing of Tony Rezko, the convenient decision of a Daley (!) to step down as mayor just in time for Rahm Emmanuel's return to Chicago...does anyone think these people will play fair in an election where it's all on the line? Reminder: they cheat. Imagine the Chicago Way writ large: zombie armies rising from the dead to vote Democratic, disruption of GOP campaign rallies and polling places on election day, voting machine tampering on a national scale, all of it.
For another, the character assassination of Sarah Palin was practice. Whoever wins the GOP nomination will receive more overtly negative press than any candidate in the history of American politics. Negatives about the candidate will be drilled into the electorate in all conceivable ways, from blatant attack ads to quasi-subliminal messaging about the unattractive aspects of the candidate's family. If Mitt Romney's the candidate, for example, we'll see a steady stream of films and TV shows making both direct and oblique references to bizarre Mormon practices and beliefs. (Admittedly, that Mormon underwear thing is bizarre.) The drumbeat of such incessant messaging will have a cumulative and very significant effect. Propaganda works.
If President Obama comes within 5 percentage points behind the GOP candidate in the week prior to election day, he'll win. President Obama doesn't have to be ahead or at a statistical dead heat. All he needs to do is make the comeback story plausible. So as Republicans, we either strive for a Mondale-like blowout or we lose. All or nothing.

we just explain to him that it's a hostile takeover with a substantial RIF for them. He's good at that.

I hate to think how many shotguns were needlessly racked and hobo hunting expeditions outfitted just because of a poorly phrased headline.

The almost completely compromised legacy media has devolved into the mortal enemy of our free Republic, the polar opposite of the intended function and potential strengths of a free press, and the sole purpose of all leftist infiltrated institutions.
It's easier to blame stupid voters than to purge the marxists from "the news".

Well, they are not pacifists, but I do think it's fair to say that there's a certain tendency to try to win hearts and minds first. And there's a certain noblesse oblige flavor to their approach to other (non-Western) cultures.
He strikes me as more of a negotiator than a fighter, not just because of his cultural background, but because of his work experience.

I'd still like to see Miss80sBaby be made co-blogger as well. She brings teh knowledge on Congressional matters.

I think they would both be very, very fine additions as coblogers, but!...they might prefer what they bring to the table, instead of running the table. Know what I mean, Vern?
How 'bout we take a Moron vote?

Not likely, but if true he loses every state besides Hawaii, Maryland, DC, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Illinois.
Thats why I say not likely.
However seeing him lose every 2000/2004/2008 swingstate is within the realm of possibility- those would include Minnesota, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New jersey, Maine, Virgina, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana and Connecticut.
