Monty: "Irretrievably BONED."
UPDATED w/ quoted blurb, for those who can't access the site:
Ministers are drawing up controversial plans to remove benefits from those convicted of taking part in the riots that engulfed England last week, in a move Liberal Democrats and independent experts have condemned as counter-productive and overly expensive.
Oh, and OT. Beat you ragamuffins to it!

I've asked my v v lefty UK friends who are horrified by this idea to explain to me why it is that they aren't out there rioting and looting and living on the dole as that the is most logical and cost effective manner of living. I've yet to hear any explanation that coincides with their worldview.
I know it's mean to make people confront their utter intellectual inanity, but it amuses me.

Oh and fuck yeah take their bennies away. What are they going to do? Give them more to stop the rioting? Shit, I wonder how fast I can be a UK citizen, if at all, to cash in.

"So why is Damon's name being mentioned in the context of the 2012 race for the White House and a possible liberal challenge to Barack Obama? The simple answer is to blame leftwing firebrand Michael Moore.
Moore, in a discussion with the liberal politics blog Firedoglake, raised the issue as he talked about his frustration with Obama, who many American leftists see as ignoring them while compromising with the Republican party."
It's not everyday that I agree with Michael Moore but when he's right, he's right. Damon should challenge Obama for the Democrat nomination.

There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant
there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants not only
economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way
anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.
....To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To
seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is

people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Attacking Pamela Geller as if she'd have sex with you only to play out a fatal attraction sounds stupid.
Playing Perry's apologist, siding with these particular Muslim organizations with whom Perry has made political alliances, supports Sharia Law not only in the MidEast, but in America. But pretend it's for the sake of PC Tolerance to promote compassionate conservation of socialism.
Perry announced that he'd "create jobs" as POTUS. That's not the job of government, to "create jobs". To maintain business friendly environment is on thing; whereas the federal government "creating jobs" is another tax & spend burden laden with fraud.
The reason Texas is business friendly is not because of any particular governor, but because of the Texas citizen voters who've to date maintained the State Constitution's figure-head powerless role of Governor. Perry, for the record, increased the number of state employees while usurping powers not constitutionally intended for the governor, specifically denied. If indeed the Texas Model is what's right for our nation, then the POTUS must have powers cut back, not just curtailed to what is constitutionally specified, but cut back further. And Perry's not about to let that happen. His promises are meant for suckers.
My own reasons for not supporting Perry result from his record as TX Governor, assuming more authority than the State Constitution permits, slapped down on three occasions for abusing US citizens' constitutional rights by the Texas public, the State Legislature and the State Supreme Court. Perry's communications with Obama amount to "sternly written letters" that made no impact on the Obama administration's attacks on Texas (ban licensing) and on the Southwest (illegal aliens). Exchanging one authoritarian for another with the "right" image in the Oval Office is nothing that a constitutional conservative would boast, let alone do.

Without getting into the rest, this is just a stupid line of argument. Everyone running for President is saying they'll "create jobs." Of course they're saying that- it's what is expected. If you bother to listen to the rest of what he says, he then also says he'll create jobs by reducing regulatory burden, by reducing taxes, and trying to get Washington out of the way. Those are all solid conservative principles.

Under Scrutiny, Perry Walks Back HPV Decision
"I signed an executive order that allowed for an opt-out, but the fact of the matter is that I didn’t do my research well enough to understand that we needed to have a substantial conversation with our citizenry," Perry said at the Manchester, N.H., event in response to an audience question about the HPV controversy, according to ABC News' The Note. "But here’s what I learned: When you get too far out in front of the parade, they will let you know, and that’s exactly what our Legislature did, and I saluted it and I said, 'Roger that, I hear you loud and clear.' And they didn’t want to do it and we don’t, so enough said.”
Instead of making the vaccine mandatory, "what we should of done was a program that frankly allowed them to opt in or some type of program like that," Perry told the New Hampshire gathering.

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation, To puff and look important and to say: -- "Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you. We will therefore pay you cash to go away."I was reminded of Kipling, except I doubt their leaders have any notion that benefits dependency or rioting barbarians are worth defeating.
Too "expensive?" If you have no problem spending other people's money, expensive is an excuse that should simply be read as "I don't want to do it."

1. There is no such thing as a peaceful Muslim. If they are true Muslims they will support violence on behalf of the stated goal of Islam; which is world domination.
2. Sharia law is another stated goal of Islam, so even if these hypothetical "peaceful Muslims" were to come to our shores, they would work toward a system of laws in direct violation of 2500 years of Western thought.

My objection to it is for the government to use the public schools as a free (or pay) clinic for diseases that are not transmittable by ordinary casual contact.
HPV requires fluid exchange and broken skin. Polio does not. The vaccines that schools require (or dispense) are, as far as I recall, for ailments that kids can pass to each other during the school day. If teachers have so little control over the kids that HPV is being passed... well, there's a bigger issue there than what a vaccine can cure.

Here in Indiana we typically host a "Black Expo" that brings thousands into Indy for the week long exposition. It's an economic boon to the community despite the low class nature of the event, it's participants and the facilities. (Think in terms of a week long convention for 25-45K) With the flash mob/riot thing going viral I'm not looking forward to this event this year at all. If that makes me racist....then I denounce myself....but regardless of race, this event has had issues of hooligans getting out of hand every year for at least the last 8 years if not more. Drive by shootings and police high speed chases. The local media ALWAYS play down the race of the criminal activity at this time of year but you'd have to be blind to fail to recognize that it's "Expo-event related".
This has all the makings of another tragedy at the Indiana State Fair Grounds rolling into downtown Indy. Can we get an Intrade transaction on the likelyhood of tragedy at this years' Expo? Because I'd take the over on that.

So you're sticking with that one? You don't think that, 20-something years ago- there was still such a thing as a conservative Democrat in the south? Right, then. What about "Reagan Democrats?" That would be that same time-period, for the record.
As someone has said (no, I don't remember who, but I liked the quote) "One thing Rick Perry has never been called is "liberal," because it just wouldn't be true."
Al Gore ran, in 1988, against Michale Dukakis (sp?) for the Democrat Presidential Nomination. He ran as a pro-life, conservative Democrat. When Dukakis won the nomination, Perry did not support that campaign- feeling it was too liberal.
The very next year, Rick Perry switched his registration to Republican for his first State-wide election: for Ag Commissioner. He has been a Republican ever since, and is a staunch supporter of Fiscal and Social conservative values, and specifically of the 10th Amendment.

Not true. It's something that spreads just by contact in general. Obviously that contact is going to be of a sexual nature, but it is a very opportunistic virus.
Over 50% of the adult population has it, and it can cause serious issues for everyone involved.
From a pubic health standpoint, it does make sense to vaccinate kids before they are sexually active. I don't think this should be mandatory, but I don't think it's much different than the Hep. vaccinations they give to newborns.

Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo (NJConservative) at August 15, 2011 08:16 AM (LH6ir)
There is a difference from a public health perspective - the mode of transmission.
I don't think folks object to having the option to vaccinate their kids. But the Gardasil vaccine was poorly tested (at best) and was for something that kids could not catch from each other in school.
The school has a responsibility to ensure that if my kid attends it, she isn't going to come home with polio or TB. That does not give them the mandate to treat (or vaccinate against) every possible disease my kid could get in life. Hell, if they are going to become clinics, I wish they'd provide glasses and braces before things like HPV vaccines.
Posted by: Y-not at August 15, 2011 08:17 AM (5H6zj)

I'd like to see a citation to an authoritative source for that. When I looked into it (last week) at medical and science sites, the consensus was fluid transfer via broken skin... not touching intact skin or breathing.

Of course! Schools are ideal places for passing potentially devastating childhood diseases to others. But mandating a vaccine against a sexually transmitted disease is very different than mandating one for a disease such as polio or pertussis that can be acquired in the community without any sexual contact.

"HPV is usually contracted through vaginal and/or anal sex. It is possible for it to be contracted through oral sexual contact. Direct skin-to-skin contact easily spreads the infection--the virus is not transmitted throuhg blood or body fluids. Actual intercourse with penetration is not necessary to transfer this infection."

Make that 99%....and most got it from their mother at birth. The 20% that you refer to are people that don't have recurring outbreaks of the cold sores. But 99% of the public carry the dormant virus 24/7. It's in the same class as Chickenpox. IE: a zostervirus. Which means you had the infection and eliminated the active virus but carry the dormant virus the rest of your life. In chickenpox a later outbreak is called "shingles". With Herpes Simplex (type 2) it's called a cold sore or fever blister. You may be lucky and don't get the sores but you're still likely a carrier of the dormant virus. If you're human that is.

Where's the casual contact in that mode of transmission?
Your epidermis is significantly different than the epithelium lining reproductive, urinary tracts, mouth, etc.
If a person with HPV touches someone else casually, there is no transmission. There have to be breaks in the skin, which - incidentally - happen all the time in the delicate linings of the areas described above.
I stand by my statement.

No, but as the link points out, penetrative sex is not required for transmission. Teenagers, even "good" teenagers who aren't having vaginal sex, are probably going to have some genital contact. Ask a teenager today if a blowjob is sex. They'll say no.

Perry didn't sign a "law" requiring the HPV vaccine. He signed an executive order requiring the HPV vaccine for girls entering the 6th grade. After doing so., the whole state of Texas nearly took his head off because of that signature on the executive order. So he signed a real law that that erased his executive order.

I didn't say she was great. But if she understands that the GOP cannot win a Hispandering Contest, and is not so enamored with cheap gardeners and maids that she sees the blatant immigration problems we have, well, she has one up on Perry there. A ibg one at that.

Then the libs and dems (BIRM) are going to try and take away all effective means of defending yourself. Again.

Rick Perry, for all he's an immigration squish (compared to some, but not others), is not exactly a Hispanderer (which is a good word, btw). Mostly he tries to avoid the topic (probably because he knows he's not as strong on the Border as some Texans would like him to be). When he does get asked, he's fairly consistent: Secure the border first (I think we can all agree on this), there's a "pathway to citizenship" already (it's called: get in line), After the border is secure, in lieu of attempting to send 12+ million illegal immigrants back to their home nations, it might be worth it to set up some sort of (yes, I'll call it what it is) amnesty.
Its' that last point (which is kind of a combination of two points, really) where he starts to lose conservatives. And, I agree, it's an issue for me, too. But he's got the first two parts right- and that's a million times better than John McCain/Lindsey Grahamnesty and infinity times better than any Democrat.

In Eau Claire there used to be a ton of asian resturants, now half of them have been closed down and reopened as mexican resturants to cater to the illegals that have moved in. There is even enough of them that a mexican food store has been doing well for several years now.
There is one mexican place that closes down every year and reopens with a new name. A friend of mine says its to avoid reporting something to the government for tax purposes. I wouldn't know myself. I do know the food there is total crap.

Yobs generally refers to British soccer hooligans although has morphed to mean any hooligan.
Chav's (council housed and violent) is a more accurate description.
What the US welfare state calls public housing and its inhabitants "the projects," the British welfare state calls council housing, as it's supposed to be managed by local councils. Both are warrens of crime, drugs, prostitution, et al, but it's far more pervasive in Britain. 20% of British households live in council housing. Having everything paid for by the government, for any claimed disability including drug/alcohol addiction.
The Brits are fucked, but here in the US we have the 2nd amendment (outside the projects). Brits barely have the second amendment for the police, let alone the citizens.

That's true. And if it were just words, I'd be more worried than I am (call it 33% worried, at the moment) about his position. However, he has done everything he views as being within his power to secure the border: he's order the National Guard (to the extent he can, he doesn't have absolute control) to the border, along with the Texas Rangers and the Texas Guard (Texas's own militia, basically). Further, he championed the Sanctuary Cities bill which would have denied state funds to any city declaring itself a sanctuary city. He championed and signed Texas's shiny new Voter ID law.
So he's not just words on it. I still wish he were tougher on the border, but he's not a complete loss, either.

Exactly what did you think the Primary was supposed to be? In the Primary process,we get to see what Republicans collectively think is more important. I'm betting that Rick Perry's record beats Romneys (I certainly hope so), but it's possible the Illegal Immigration thing will be a bridge too far. If that's where we are as a party, that's where we are as a party.
It might take me two heartbeats to vote for Romney over Obama (instead of the one or less it would take with all the others), but I would vote for any R (except maybe Ron! Paul! or Huntsman) over Obama.
And, never forget: when it comes down to it, Barack Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.

Definatly more time. More weight will make you stronger, and gain muscle mass... but without your cardio vascular system being in good shape it to support it, its a gamble.
Also, sounds like you are trying to get rid of weight? The 'only' way to really get rid of weight is to change the balance between the amount of calories you eat (and what type), and how much you burn... and working out longer with less weight burns more calories than working shorter with more weight...
One of the best ways to loose weight is to find a sport you really enjoy, as it burns calories at somthing you WANT to do (I just got back form 8 days at an Elizabethan Fencing competition... lost 10 pounds which will be back by next week as my system gets back to equilibrium).

"For starters, we've cured polio." In what universe?
We'd controlled polio exposure through mandatory vaccinations but we haven't cured ANY viral disease. I think what the "what's the diff between HIV and polio" was trying to get at was that these are both viral diseases that can and probably should be controlled by vaccinations while young.

85 Meanwhile experts are warning the move could be expensive and difficult to achieve.
