— Ace People are filled with vanity. Vanity defines people. People tell themselves pretty lies, to convince themselves they're superior to other people.
Case in point: The first guy's contention that "There is a thing called greed." He offers this as an insult to Peter Schiff. Later another guy gets into the "greed" thing too.
Both of these men seem to claim themselves to be virtuous, claiming they only want "simple things." Simple, materialistic things.
Here's a question for these guys:
When I work -- when I work, sporadic though that is lately -- I do so primarily for money.
Why do you guys work? (I mean, "you guys" as in "the guys in this video."
Altruism? You just show up for your jobs, and would do so, whether paid or not, because you're dedicated to doing work on behalf of others?
Hmmm... I sort of doubt that. I think you guys (again, the guys in this video) are working for the same reason as Peter Schiff: Money. Which is, in turn, simply a convenient unit of exchange for the most precious commodity in the world: Time.
When you buy a loaf of bread, you are giving up some of your time, in the convenient unit of exchange called money, by which you were paid for your time, for someone else's time.
This is why virtually everybody works. (Except for that blessed, tiny cadre of people who literally love their jobs and do their jobs almost entirely because they so enjoy it.)
So, these guys work for themselves. When they are compensated for the time they spend at work, they put that money into their pockets, and spend it on themselves (or their families).
And yet the self-deluded, entitled OWS crowd are absolutely insistent on the idea that other peopleshould spend large amounts of time working for the benefit of the OWS parasites.
Imagine walking up to any of these people on the street and ordering them: Come back to my house and clean my gutters, for free, because I want you to dedicate your time towards making my life easier.
Can you imagine the shock? The outrage?
And yet here at OWS these miscreants proudly proclaim that's what they want others to do. They want the productive people in society to mark off blocks of hours, days, and weeks to use their time working for their own selfish ends.
How many hours of our time -- we, who work -- do you who do not work think you are owed per week? How many hours per month do you believe we should dedicate towards supporting you?
FYNQ.

It's not RAPE rape. It's just redistribution-of-sexual-wealth rape. It wouldn't even be considered rape at all if not for the whole non-consensual and/or statutory stuff.

Precisely. Everything about this protest is about money.
They want to raise taxes (money) on rich (money) bankers (money).
They want the government to pay off their student loans for them. What, exactly, were they loaned as students... puppies? Unconditional positive regard? I think they were loaned money.
Everything they say boils down to them wanting more money and not wanting to work for it. Nothing more than materialism and petty jealousy.

Altruism? You just show up for your jobs, and would do so, whether paid or not, because you're dedicated to doing work on behalf of others?
One time at band camp while on one of those idiotic firm team building retreat things, the facilitator did this whole thing about how you should only work at a place if you loved it so much you'd do it for free. Then it was go around the circle and discuss this. Everyone else was doing the whole blah blah oh sure I'd do that here blah blah. Then we got to me. Being me, my response was "The day my paycheck doesn't clear is the day I stop coming here to work." The facilitator looked like I'd kicked him in the balls. He did some stammering attempt to rephrase what I said and I dug in my heels and repeated "I work for money. They pay me. I work for them. When they stop paying me, I stop working for them. What's wrong with that?" My bosses looked like they wanted to slap me but I refused to back down. To this day I don't see what's wrong with saying that I work for money. I was raised that it's noble to do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay.

They regularly play the "you hate poor people because you don't want to pay more in taxes" card. Yet, it's not charity if it's compulsory- an act of charity by definition has to be voluntary.
Voluntarily giving time and/or money to the unfortunate is a noble act; paying taxes out of fear of punishment isn't.

The other day he said something to the affect that Americans weren't as creative and energetic as they were and that is why we are not creating jobs in the private sector.
Last year both he and his lovely bride were telling people not to take a job in the private sector but to work for a non profit or the government.
It boggles the mind that we don't have politicians or media on our side hammering him on this stuff. We don't though.

Whenever I ask a lib "friend" to define greed, they invariably say "wanting more than you need". And who defines a person's "need", anyway? They do, of course! And by their definition, a person can be accused of greed for wanting more than a glass of water and a dry spot in a cave.
My definition of greed is "seeking the unearned", which can be applied to a dishonest businessman as easily as a welfare mooch, or a POS douchebag OWS cretin who wants something for nothing.

I don't think Linda ever had much of a chance. What Peter lacked in campaign cash he made up for w/ brains and debate skills. In a general election debate against Blumenthal, Schiff would have run circles around him. Remember when Blumenthal claimed he created a bunch of jobs as Attorney General, as a result of all his lawsuits and prosecuting against the citizens of his own state? If the war lies didn't do him in, that idiotic claim should have. Schiff would've gotten all the independents and non-Marxists to vote for him; he just needed the name recognition that comes from a primary win. He was also willing to invest more of his own money if he made it to the general.

I'll tell you what it means. It is from a man named Karl Marx. It is a screed against the additional profit made by the owner of the business from someone else's labor . Any excess profit violates Marx's theory of labor.

Money equals STORED ENERGY. My energy expended on behalf of my employer, is reimbursed with money. People who are REALLY rich have expended more energy than I do - I'm just middle class comfortable - because I value hanging out with my family, working with my church, etc... where a really rich guy might have the energy (brains? nerve?) to have taken risks I wouldn't because I want a balanced life.
The kids at OWS aren't employable because they have no energy to expend on some employer's behalf. Or, maybe they have the energy, but can't focus it in ways that would benefit the employer.
That my employer keeps a bunch of money for himself is OK with me, since I don't really want to expend my energy on that sort of risk, and he does.

If you govern yourself with knowledge gained by the vastness of the genertions before you about what works or does not, things turn out pretty well. Sometimes there is a tragedy like an accident or a disease but life is mostly good if you do what you're supposed to. Doing the right thing gives you freedom.

Any system in which you admit you must change human nature, is doomed to fail. We are at our best when embracing who we really are, not who some other person says we should be....
The stress of trying to go against our own nature... the stress of living in a society which disaprooves of natural feelings (built in by God, or Evolution) drives people nuts.
Marx even talked about society forcing the evolution of Man... and note the epic failure of Marxism.
Next up? The feminisation of Men... and multiculturalism....

Posted by: Alex at October 27, 2011 01:22 PM (e/SJC)
Ace, you're exactly right. For most of us, time is money. We sell our precious time for money in a free exchange. Our employer is willing to give us the fruits of his labor (his time, his money) for some of our time. We, in turn, buy things with our money, things that have taken someone else time to make, package, deliver, sell.
So, when the government taxes us, they are really saying that, for X percentage of your time spent working, you were the government's slave. Put that way, taxing a "rich" person at a higher rate than a "poor" person is truly immoral, because what the government is saying is that we are going to take 50% or so of every minute of every day you work and declare that you were our slave during that time.
We have the meme of "tax freedom day" every year, and every year it creeps further out into April. But for some of us, the "rich," that day might be in June or July. We ought to call those months, "government slavery days." Is it really "fair" to make someone a slave for six months a year?

Van Jones: Okay, ideas anybody.
Professor #1: I think I could get some of my hippie students and their friends to protest Wall St.
Professor #2 Great idea, I'm going to text some of my students from my iPhone and tell them they should be protesting evil corporations whose products are made in China and sell stock on Wall St.
ACORN: We'll have our people there, they might get rowdy and create a mess but they'll be there shilling for Obama.
Van Jones: Excellent!
Andy Stern: I can get some of my people there.
Trumpka: Me too.
JournoList: Hold back boys we wouldn't want it to look like astroturf.
Debbie Dolberman: Once the MSM sets the narrative about how spontaneous and grassroots the OWS crowd has sprung up we could get Nancy and Barrack to comment on it.
Nancy: Okay.
Tumpka: ThatÂ’s the cue for us to come in Andy.
Van Jones: Excellent. A very productive meeting on this one. We wouldn't want another CBS incident. Has anyone admonished CBS and that reporter yet?
Nancy: My husband and I need a distraction
Al Sharpton: When will we tell them it should be about redistributing the money?
Bill Keller: I'll start setting the narrative that the Tea Party is finished.
Charlie Rose: I'll coincide with that and and call OWS a growing phenomenon.
JournoList: Once all that's rolling we'll keep pounding the talking points.
Harry: I'll prevent the Senate from voting on the Barrack's jobs Bill while all this is going on. I'll need help blaming Republicans since the bi-partisan support is against us.
JournoList: No problem and no different than business as usual.
Al Sharpton: Money...when will we tell them it should be about redistributing the money?
David Axelrod: Al follow my cue and then organize. Barrack will say "Republicans Don't Want A Place Where People "No Matter What They Look Like" Can Succeed”
Nancy: I will stir up their passions with stuff like theyÂ’re voting to let women die on the floor.
JournoList: Great idea Nancy. That one helps get out the feminist vote every time. Women like "shiny things".
Whoopi: I can tell women George Bush er....Republicans want to steal their uteruses.
Sean Penn: Garofalo and the rest of us will set the meme the Tea Party is the "Get The N-Word Out Of The White House Party".
Bill Maher: Excellent Sean! Most excellent! I will call Cain and republicans racist and poke fun at them.
Al Sharpton: I will add to the meme: "We Will Get The Jobs Bill Done In The Street".
David Axelrod: Excellent guys. The WH messaging will be OWS "Will Be An Issue In This Campaign".
Valerie Jarret: We need to crush the idea MLK would have supported Cain. Barrack will tell the people at the ceremony that MLK Jr. Would Have Supported Occupy Wall Street.
Lawrence OÂ’Donnell: I will imply a brilliant man like Cain should have been drafted, or perhaps volunteered to be considered a patriot - rather than work for the Navy in a private capacity on rocket science where the Navy wanted him solving problems on an important project. I can also push the meme that heÂ’s an Uncle Tom for thinking for himself and unlike 90%+ of African Americans. I will do this from atop my white horse. Perhaps MSNBC should hire Al to provide me cover.
Al Sharpton: ThatÂ’s what I do, I know how to crack the whip on those who dare leave the Democrat plantation. How much are they going to pay me?
Van Jones Shut up Al! One last thing. Can you JournoList within the press corpse please keep ignoring the Fast and Furious scandal.
WH Press Corpse Indeed!
JournoList We concur, and donÂ’t worry Nancy. Tell your husband too.
David Axelrod: Once all this is rolling Barack will hop on the bus and hit the road with the standard organizing talking points like “GOP Wants "Dirtier Air, Dirtier Water, Less People With Health Insurance”.
Martin Bashir David, I’ll follow your lead with “Cain Doesn't Want To Be "Associated With African-Americans.”
Comrade Brzezinski I‘d suggest a Bolshevik type appraoch like “Make Rich Known Publicly To Pressure Them To Give Back”
Eugene Robinson: I call my meme "Defend Wall Street" and go with the theme is not likely to be a winning campaign slogan in 2012. For Republicans, this is an obvious problem.
Van Jones: Very productive people. I mean that..
Bernie Sanders: We Need To Address The Issue Of The Rich Getting Richer
Lawrence O'Donnell: I'd like to add Republicans still don't have a jobs plan, theyÂ’ve never had a jobs plan because Republicans are lying liars that lie even when lying about lying thatÂ’s the kind of liars the lying liars are.
Rachel Maddow: I’ll push this one “Republicans vote against employing more teachers and first responders” and since we believe the American people are too stupid to figure out the locals already pay taxes to cover those type of things in their cities.
Van Jones Very good Rachel.
Al Franken: And also remember we are good enough, smart enough and gosh darn it, people like us. We are wonderful people.....just ask us.
Rachel Maddow: IÂ’ll also go with Republicans think poor people are scam artists.
David Axelrod: Excellent Barack will use the standard Alinsky playbook on his bus tour which we can film for campaign ads. Barack will also tell the people not to believe their lying eyes and that all the choices he made were the right ones. IÂ’ll try and keep a straight face and plant a seed that the election is going to be a close one.
Debbie Dolberman: I will project all our demagoguery onto republicans.
E.J. Dionne: IÂ’ll add that: Operation Wall Street Is "Disciplined," Has "Wonderful Signs"
Michael Moore: Will Barrack be using the styrofoam columns again? I will make a documentary of all this with a similar name as my Fifth but IÂ’ll call this one "Bowling for Columnlike."

Peter Schiff is a stock broker in Connecticut who focuses on long term investments in foreign markets, gold, and other commodities. He's an Austrian economist, libertarian, and economic advisor of Ron Paul's 2008 campaign. He foresaw the dotcom bubble, predicted the student loan bubble and housing crisis years in advance, warned people about the financials before they crashed, and constantly criticizes the Fed policy of Greenspan and Bernanke. He ran for Dodd's Senate seat in 2010 but lost the GOP primary to Linda McMahon. He has a daily 2 hour radio show at www. schiff radio. com. Some guy put together a must-watch youtube video called "Peter Schiff was right," of some of his TV appearances in 07-08 when EVERYONE was laughing at his predictions on the housing crisis.

Sure they get stronger by picking up more and more of the hard left, but at the same time, the bigger they are and the more attention they get, the more they galvanize the squishy middle that liberalism is really a bad thing. When they put on display their ignorance, selfishness, narcissism, and entitleism, they convince more people that the progressive values which defined the generation of gimmees defecating on our civilization are themselves destructive to society. And they seek to find answers from us instead.

This IS my Year Zero. Tell me what else I can do that doesn't involve going home to three part-time jobs with no benefits only to go home to live in a rented cardboard box while I get deeper in debt til I go bankrupt and they seize my cardboard box.
Sure. Simple questions.
Tell me why this is my problem. Tell me why all should suffer for your poor decision-making skills.
Bonus points for leaving out Marxist claptrap.

Even more: Johnson sued to keep Casor a slave and his argument was...? Multiculturalism. Virginia couldn't tell him -- an Angolan -- he couldn't have a slave. Slavery was part of his culture.
I kid you not. Multiculturalism was essentially what he argued and we had slavery for about 200 more years after then.

So these OWS don't speak a language or read? They only have a "nature"? They can't look at the combined knowledge of centuries and say, "Whoa, marxism sucks, I'd better get a job."

The best reply I've heard is 'so make another pie.'
Posted by: Retread at October 27, 2011 05:34 PM
Leftist economics is a Zero-sum game. There is a set amount of everything and anything that grows at an average number that somehow pops up on their computer models.
Hence, for the rich to be as they are, they must grab more than "their share" of the pie at the expense of everyone else.
It's bullshit, but it's what they believe

I'm guessing an OWS would make a better dish though. Less stringy from having to actually fend for itself.

Slavery can be defined as a system in which one does not own the product of one's labor.
That's the opposite of capitalism.

This video really pisses me off! These F'n idiots have no clue that a majority of American's actually simpathize with some of the complaint, but their too stupid to actually make an arguement that makes sense.
They have not done their homework!
These F'n Morons believe that the system we have now is the pure Free Market system and we have to change it. It is not. We have been screaming from the rooftops for years now, to get government out of the way, because they had morphed the system already, and it is now a Quasi-Socialist Crony Capitalist System, and we need to get back to the more pure Free Market System.
I swear to God, I never be able to educate these kids, because they haven't the slightest clue how to learn, nor do they have th erepesct to understand they are the ones who have been completely indoctrinated and fooled. They think they know it all, and they don't know Shit! It is supposed to be the media that points out to these people where they are correct and where they are incorrect, but when you have Government-Media Complex that is in it to destroy Capitalism we're F'ed.

Off the top of my head:
Fire, Steel, Cotton, Rayon, Cooked food, the computer you're on which you're typing. The education to be able to type. An understanding that 10,000 years might be a contentious number for "human history."
Shall I continue?
Our society only exists because of X-thousand years of human history.

People are filled with vanity. Vanity defines people. People tell themselves pretty lies, to convince themselves they're superior to other people.
And this post, my furry, Ewokian friend, is why I come here so much. Your psychological analysis is spot on and easily applicable (unfortunately) to many others in the political threater.
It's all ego, all the time. These folk wrap themselves in the very thick, insulating blanket of their own self-importance all the way up to their heads, blocking out reality.

But I will say this: as an actual on-the-ground CANDIDATE, Linda McMahon was the polar opposite of Christine O'Donnell or Sharron Angle or Ken Buck or Joe Miller: she lost, but it had nothing to do with the job she did in the race. She ran a more or less flawless race, and I'm saying this from the perspective of someone who was intensely skeptical of her. I still think she could never win because Connecticut is the sort of state that could never accept someone with her background (not even necessarily her positions, but the way she made her money), but I have nothing but praise for the extremely professional way she conducted herself as a candidate. She earned my respect.

In your opinion. Judging her by results she was a dismal failure like the others.

@238
True.....So True!
Majority of these OWS' haven't the slightest clue of Economics, but all of a sudden they act they are experts. They haven't learned the famous and most important breakthrough in Psycology in it's History.
"If you punish a behavior you get less of that behavior, and if you reward behavior, you get more of that behavior"
This theory is the most powerful tool in designing economic and tax systems. What is it going to take to get these people to understand that the underlieing arguement is, "Do you want to be a Free Marketeer knowing that it is the only system known to man that does the best job at maintaining Freedom and Prosperity for the most amount of people, or not?" Because, the OWS general message is an attack on the Free Market, and it looks to me that they don't even realize it.........It's Pathetic!
And, of course, if you question them on it they say "Oh No......I want Capitalism,".....Talk about annoying!

It's almost as if you're trying to miss my point because you just want to be on the other side of me on any subject. Again: someone can run an extremely good, disciplined, professional race and still lose because of objective factors beyond their control. McMahon was, I agree, a worse choice as GOP candidate than either Simmons or Schiff for the simple reason of her biography: CT culture is very white-shoe and old money and looks down vehemently on the sort of lowbrow entertainment she made her fortune on with the WWE. But in terms of how she actually ran her race? She made no errors. She was smart, sharp, extremely disciplined and yet not too frosty, made no unforced errors, destroyed Blumenthal in the debate, and generally impressed me as a serious person.
You also need to remember the fact that although to us living outside of Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal was/is nothing more than a Democratic hack who lied about his Vietnam service, to Connecticut voters of BOTH parties he was, before the scandal emerged, the single most popular person in the entire state. It's what saved his bacon, along with the blue tilt of the state and the problems with McMahon's background.
Still, I agree she isn't the answer. But the answer isn't going to please someone like you, Bevel. PPP showed recently that the open seat race in CT could actually be extremely competitive and a possible pickup for the GOP...if we nominate moderate former GOP Congressman Chris Shays. If we nominate McMahon again (which is overwhelmingly likely), it won't be a race.
