— Dave in Texas I'm behind my time, and owe everyone an update on the playoff fantasy thing that CDR M was kind enough to put on for us all.
So here 'tis.
1 sfla's Entry 198
2 waelse1 195
3 aaronrodgersismyhomeboy 187
4 CDR M 185
5 thebotnet 180
So consider this a pre-game pre-shit talkin playoff thread. Packers-Bears at 3 EST, Steelers-Jets at 6:30 EDT. I'm pickin the Pack by 9 and the Steelers by 6. Superbowl, Packers over the Steelers by 12.
You may have noticed during the football pickem thingy I kinda really suck at this. YMMV.
ALSO: Latest non-controversy controversy. Does he or doesn't he?
Only his hairdresser knows for sure.
Full disclosure. My hair (on my head) is not grey, and I still have it. I may have dodged the baldness bullet. Time will tell.
ALSO ALSO: via SWeasel, what's tackier, having a 50 year JFK logo, or the logo itself?
That's a stumper ma'am. TOTUS sez "NOOOOOOOO."

Rachel Madcow says that SDI Can't Work Because Missiles Can't Shoot Missiles Out of the Sky. . ...and doubles down on the stupid with this:
You know what? If you think you can shoot the bullet with the other bullet, you can have an awesome life in Annie OakleyÂ’s side show, but you should not be in charge of billions of dollars of the defense budget. It's such a hysterical fantasy. I love it.

It's just not fair to have a Superbowl where one team wins and the other is humiliated. We need to let them play, but not keep score. This will advance our "Social Justice" agenda favored by President Obama and other progressives.

Football is so barbaric and the sport should be stopped by an act of Congress. Americans are demanding this horrible tradition be stopped because the number of rapes during Superbowl have increased dramatically in proportion to the level of violence. Stop it now!

First, let me say God bless the congresswoman. I hope she continues on her amazing recovery. She seems like she was a good representative, even if she was on the other side.
Now am I the only one who has started to think the media coverage of Rep. Giffords is starting to approach Baby Jessica level? I mean, they should just go ahead and lower Gabby into a well already.

I never heard her speak. Today I was watching the news on mute and she was on. It looked like she has a Cindy Brady lisp.
Posted by: Rachel Maddow at January 22, 2011 02:45 PM (5iMvt)
JFK 50 is also a bit odd as a title/slogan. I figure they are marking the assassination, but it treats JFK as if he was a solitary event like Pearl Harbor or 9/11, not a human being.
Posted by: ef at January 22, 2011 02:47 PM (FrdE0)
The Gifford coverage is over the top, and a noticeable failure to include information about others involved in the tragedy. The media have played the sympathy card, and it's become tiresome and unwatchable. Clickers are mans best friend.

And so does Blumenthal. So that's 3 Democrat senators who a) talk like Cindy Brady, and b) can beat Republicans.

What's a bitter Eagles fan/ AOS Moron to do?
In the AFC...Don't want the Jets to win, we hate New York. We hate the Giants more, of course, but still....there will be a million more trash-talking Jets fans, out of nowhere, on Monday if they win. But we also hate Pittsburgh. Yeah, we're in the same state. They're also 300 miles away. 9 other states are closer. The Stillers and Pens have won enough recently. Yes, we resent it.
In the NFC, the Pack knocked us out of the playoffs, but we sort of expected that. Rodgers isn't a dick like Favre was. So, I guess I pull for them. I wouldn't root against the Bears except for You-know-who in the White House. Nothing personal;, Bears fans, but Lord Zero insists that he's a huge fan of all of your sports teams, except the Blackhawks I guess. I want to see his kiss-of-death streak continue.

Yeah, I've heard of them. The Eagles and Steelers combined franchise for one seson during WWII. It saved both franchises.
We have quite a few Pittsburgh expats living in the Philly area, and it does get annoying when they go around lording over us with their terrible towels and Stanley Cups. ( I work with a few of them) And they pretend that baseball doesn't exist because the Pirates have sucked for so long and the Phils have been a powerhouse lately. But overall, I guess, they're not nearly as obnoxious as the "life-long" Jets fans that have suddenly sprung up around here. I guess I can pull for the Stillers...this week.
Posted by: Luca Brasi at January 22, 2011 04:35 PM (KhGTO)
