Mosque-Burning/Gay-Bashing Threat Level: Subdued
— Ace

tebow-angel.jpgimages.jpg
Brady is 8 for 13 with three smitings.
Tebow called a trick play in which he turned the ball into a serpent.

Earlier in the game, there was an Elevated level of gay-bashings, mosque-burnings, and immigrant deportations, as the Broncos were leading the Patriots and making Brady look pretty average.

But the Broncos have fumbled thirty-seven times in a row (estimated), and now trail by 11.

So, if you're a gay Muslim, you have a limited opportunity to run out to the grocery without a high threat of ecstatic bloodletting.

Dude, it's all part of the plan. If they don't trail, how can Tebow lead a comeback?

I wouldn't say the mosques or gays are safe until the clock reads all zeros.

Christiandom riot and kills only when its team wins, while the Islamic world riots and kills only when its team loses. Unfortunately, their team is incompetent and still living in the seventh century, so they tend to lose more often than not.

No one wins every game (Right Green Bay) and this was a game I expected Denver to lose.  I think they've still got a better shot at finishing at the top of their division than SD and Oakland though.

There is a great deal of difference between a riot and a defensive action, such as the first four crusades. Then there is the matter of heresy, which was as much a threat to civilization as to religion in times past. I think you read history with a bit of anachronism.

When a sports team or athlete, and this is especially true in baseball, has a long losing streak or a player has a long hitting drought, the players will hit the town looking for the least-attractive women then can find, and try to sleep with them.  Somehow, this is supposed to earn them good karma and break the slump.

I don't think the Inquistions are much of riots.  That was a case of the church looking into claims of heresy by Catholics mainly due to Jewish converts still being accused of following Judaism instead of Catholicism.  And it only really got out of hand when the monarchy in Spain got into control, and settled down once the church again gained oversight.  It really cut down on the witch burnings in Spain which were all the rage across Europe at the time too.

266 that was 4th and Game so it didn't matter how big of a sack it was. Still, he has gone increasingly backwards on a few broken plays. Not to that extent but it mattered earlier. They're down.  It was already long.  If he throws it away its definitely over.  If he keeps scrambling, maybe there's a spot for him to turn upfield and it just didn't come.  Its not like it was a 2nd and 10 and they're down by 6 when he did that.

Yes because obviously we were not aware that the Pats D sucks.  Why its not like any of use were talking about the only reason Denver likely having a chance this week is because the Pats defense is only about as good as the Vikings D.

353 Gee, I read a lot of bitching about bad calls by the refs and the Broncos o-line being inadequate (against this bad defense) and a lot about how "the team" isn't that great.

This week.

But other weeks when the Broncos win because their kicker kicks a 59 yard FG or their #1 ground game controls the ball, then it was Tebow who caused the victory.

Meh.  It's a bizarre phenomenon that certain QBs are ones we (conservatives) have to like or certain computer manufacturers must be teh evil or one search engine has to be better than the other because we don't like their politics.

Posted by: Brock O'bama at December 18, 2011 07:54 PM (/WZ6r)

Because they were winning games, and a 300 yard passing game doesn't mean squat if you don't get the W.  I don't think anyone has really been looking at him as an elite QB at the top of the NFL.  Its been a sense of "How in the hell are they winning?"  And they have been winning as a team.  But what happens on offense is important.  And one single player can affect the whole team.  And well if they are playing the bottom half of the NFL and winning well that puts them right around the middle, which would be about where I would have put them anyways.  San Diego might not appreciate being told that though.

I know Y-not is pointing out how some have been wanting to credit Tebow with the wins when it should be the kicker (but the kicker doesn't win last week's game without that Touchdown pass) but the commentators have almost always been talking about how Denver is winning more because of their defense and special teams than the offense.  You can expect a lot of them to be talking this week about how Tebow lost.

Posted by: Ronster at December 18, 2011 04:13 PM (JGYCE)

381 I give Tebow a lot of credit for turning the Broncos around. Yes, the defense has been playing a lot better. Yes, Prater has kicked a lot of clutch field goals. And, yes, Tebow's stats haven't been all that impressive (at least his passing numbers; his running numbers and turnover ratio have been great, though).

But somehow the rest of the Broncos became confident that they could win. I do believe that's because of Tebow's leadership and winning attitude. When athletes feel like they have a real shot at winning, they play harder. It's hard to argue with a 1-4 start under Orton, followed by a 7-2 streak under Tebow.

You can argue that the Broncos' post-Orton opponents haven't been very good, but they've played several .500+ teams since Tebow took the helm. And I really don't think you can argue that Orton would've led the Broncos to anywhere near as many victories.

Tebow may not seem like a great quarterback by conventional standards, but he's done a lot to improve his team. I still think he's just what the Broncos needed.

435 427 407 I respectfully disagree. The omission of the pats schedule is no more critical than the omission of the Ravens or the Steelers schedule   I will have to double respectfully disagree. If you're going to use schedule as a reason for a certain team winning or losing, then you need to accept the opposing teams schedule as a reason for winning or losing. Of course this is mostly decided in the off season by the powers that be in the NFL.

I just happen to believe that they're in exactly the same spot as they would be if they had they're other QB, the one that beat the packers today

What is the future for Orton? I don't think it looks that good. If the Chiefs 1st string QB was healthy, do you think Orton would have a job. Only with another team whose 1st string QB was injured. Hell, I'm glad Orton has a job and is doing well, but he will only be a backup.

Are you related to Orton? Do you have a relationship with him or ar you just using him to bash the Broncos?

You mean the quarterback who held the packers to 14 points today? The lowest amount they have scored all year? Yup he's hell on wheels on defense. He held Aron Rodgers to below 50% completions at 17/35. Orton was all over the field on both sides of the ball, amazing.

Jeebus.

446 440 I guess I'm coming from the spot that everyone is referring to Tebows schedule as evidence to something important. I don't know what, but its awful important because all i hear about is Tebow this and Tebow that. All I'm suggesting is the sample is skewed to derive any meaningful conclusion because until now, they haven't played a playoff-bound team, maybe two since it looks like Detroit will sneak in now. In both cases they got shellacked.

LOFL. Honestly that's the bitch of it. I can't believe it.

The packers lose one.

Can't fault Tebow for losing one or two, here or there, when even the almighty Packers blow it on a bad day.

And the Raiders lose to Detroit. So it's a wash - Bronco's still on top and theirs to lose, the ever so mighty Kansas City standing in their way....

It went bad for the Denver on the field but right everywhere else.

467 The point I'm making is that the AFC West is a pretty closely-contested division. If you're going to say the Broncos haven't played any teams with a shot at making the playoffs, you have to ignore the rest of their division. Division champions get an automatic playoff berth.

And the Jets and Bears were also potentially playoff-bound; maybe not as division champs, but at least as wild-card teams. Just like the Lions!

472 465 lol. Robtr, I really don't need it explained to me. I watch entirely too much football as it is. But, the reason he has to come from behind is because he's so Gawd awful, I mean single digit QB rating awful. I don't dislike the guy, but the broncos shouldn't be in that position to begin because they are generally better than the teams they played during this stretch.

Posted by: Brock O'bama at December 18, 2011 05:39 PM (/WZ6r)

473 #474: The Broncos lost to the Raiders and Chargers with Orton. They then beat both teams with Tebow. Their only game against the Chiefs so far was with Tebow, and the Broncos won. They still have their second game with the Chiefs coming up, but the win against the Chiefs was at KC in November, a situation where the Broncos have traditionally done quite poorly.
