Have sympathy for me, I actually had to watch this live.
Had to ask the folks who were watching it because they wanted to, what would the the reaction be if they put an accused traitor in a general population setting and he was shived.
Hell forget shived - if somebody called him a pussy they would be outraged.

Also, is he in solitary or does he have a single occupancy cell? He can talk to toerh inmates in cells near him, he has visitors, he can make phone calls, he is taken out and given one hour to exercise, he is provided reading material. It doesn't sound like solitary to me.

The fight the video is about is the loyal machine/race-bating Democrats vs. the anti-war/homosexual issue/Wired magazine Democrats.
What Manning did wasn't free speech, it was espionage and probably treason. Democrats don't get this because they don't think of America as their country, sadly enough.
I know there are people who would disagree with that characterization, but to convince me that Democrats do think of themselves as Americans, they're going to have to ACT LIKE IT.
This isn't about "my country right or wrong" or any of that shit, but if you think Manning was a "whistleblower" you have crap in your head. He wasn't exposing a malfeasance, he was having a fucking temper-tantrum and lashing out by giving secret intel to foreigners expressly opposed to US interests.
Posted by: Merovign, Dark Lord of the Sith at March 11, 2011 02:10 PM (bxiXv)
Er, why is Manning's treatment ridiculous?
The hypocrisy is sort of a given.
The hypocrisy is; acknowledgment of it by the hypocrites themselves isn't.
As for Manning -- what "treatment"? He's in fucking prison.

Ever notice how amazing it is when the leftist media does the same thing most of us do constantly every day without even thinking about it, because it is right - simply tells the truth?
It is difficult not to wish that ill befall these people who have done nothing to deserve the power and influence that they have, and who in a just world would not only not have power, but be considered unclean.

What's the new word for "Black Hole" going to be? How about "Mellow Yellow" soda? Is "Testarossa" offensive to gingers?
Seriously, the path you lay down is literally impossible to follow - "never give offense."

anyone read UNBROKEN?
The story about Louis Zamperini -- his bomber crashed into the Pacific, stranded for many many days, killing a shark with his hands (for food), and then finally washing up on an island...
to be taken prisoner by the Nips.
I might read it because it sounds like a good story.

What I'm saying is that it will be hard for the Dems to oppose spending cuts that target waste and unnecessary programs when (1) some of those cuts come from the Obama's own budget and (2) the Dems declared the amount to be reasonable earlier. In other words, complaining and stomping their feet here would be hypocritical. But you're right, they'll likely do it anyway.
