— Dave in Texas The end of free speech. The corporatists have won.
Some of the good ones captured here by Treacher. My fav:
"@KeithOlbermann has saved lives in this country. He's saved sanity for many of us."
Apparently Keith Olbermann kicked Death's ass and I missed it.

I myself have a working theory about the breakup of Keef and MSNBC. What if, and I'm just spitballin here, what if he was, say, a collosal giant dick, and at the same time he wasn't pulling in the revenue like he was maybe two years ago?
Hey, I don't know anything, I'm a moron, but that seems possible.
MORE on my little theory: Schuster takes umbrage.

Forget two years ago--how about ever? The guy never was vaguely within the ballpark of O'Reilly ratings-wise. I never understood (outside of politics and/or being horribly misguided in their corporate leadership) how they justified his pay.
Outside of that, though, it is possible this was planned. It's possible they decided to can him for good when they initially suspended him a while back and this was just a face-saving maneuver. That wouldn't explain why his staff wasn't given some warning, though Olbermann being a dick might at least partly explain that.

Try it sometime. Make up some news that relates to politics, and tell it to a lefty. They will have a conclusion about it that relates to their doctrine, an enemy to blame, and will probably claim to have predicted it.
ANYTHING that happens is immediately factored into their ideological construct, as a "support member," whether it fits or not.
It's fun to spread these out a few days and watch someone declare an event and its opposite as proof for their ideas.

I remember during the Bush years it seemed like every week some celeb or other (I remember Gillian Anderson best 'cause she used to be hot) would pipe up that there's no free speech allowed anymore - on TV - in front of millions - without any consequences except they proved they're idiots.
Also reminds me of NASA's Hansen giving daily interviews complaining that he wasn't allowed to speak. To the press. In an interview. To the press. Daily.

Western Civ has an association between kindness and weakness built into its cultural DNA. People feel like they're jerks if they demand. People who are jerks have no compunction. You don't ask, you don't get.
It remains to be seen if that will just be a source of constant pain or whether it will actually kill us off.

Do ANY of these tools even watch Fox News primetime? Brett Bair? Straight news. Granted the panel tends to lean right, but Juan Williams and A.B. Stoddard are always well-represented. Shep Smith? OK, he's kind of a tool and a closet leftie, but his presentation is right down the middle. Papa Bear? Leans conservative but has a Libertarian/populist bent that can be unpredictable. Hannity? Guilty as charged, although both Hannity and O'Reilly always have guests who disagree with them (other than Alan Colmes, who needs to grow a pair). Greta? People magazine. No political agenda.
