New Hampshire Poll: Romney Maintains Strong Lead, But Perry Jumps Into Second
— Ace

Romney 36%, Perry 18%. Um, Ron Paul has 14%, and Bachmann 10%.

Good poll for both Romney and Perry -- Perry gets second place after announcing, but Romney holds his critical first-in-the-nation primary state with a strong lead, guaranteeing he can't be knocked out (if that even seemed a possibility).

Among all voters surveyed Romney remains very popular with a favorable rating of 66% and an unfavorable rating of 24%. Perry also has a significantly favorable image ratio of 51% F / 27% U.

Other candidates though are seeing their negative image ratings rise. Bachmann is still more popular than not with a 49% favorable rating. But 39% say they have an unfavorable opinion of her.

I have been saying a long time he has NH locked up. He is almost a favorite son candidate there. It is surprising that Perry has anything there.

Romney appears to have adapted Rudy's 2008 strategy. Skip Iowa, campaign in NH, skip SC and go to FL.

Bachmann will take Iowa, Romney will take NH, and it will be either Bachmann or Perry in SC.

RP will get his single digit percentage of potheads in all three states.

Ron Paul:"Barack Obama is such a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure that when Bernanke was talkin' about QE II he thought he meant a cruise liner."

Crowd: "Ha, ha. ha, ha."

Rick Perry:"Barack Obama is such a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure that when he has sex with Michelle, he has to use two teleprompters so he knows when to moan and when to grunt."

Person in crowd: "BURN. SNAP!!!!"

Mitt Romney: "Barack Obama is such a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure that when he has sex with Michelle, he has to be on bottom because he can only fuck up!"

Crowd: "Ooooooooooooo."

Michelle Bachmann: "Barack Obama is such a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure that he had seven more stars sewn on to the American flag in the oval office.!"

Crowd: "Hoo hahoo!"

Steve Huntsman: "Barack Obama is such a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure that he made me his ambassador to China.!"

Crowd: "Wah?"

After reading about Bachmann's behaviour the other night in Waterloo when she refused to listen to Perry's remarks, demanded the lighting be readjusted for her before she entered from her bus where she seemed to be hiding, and her failure to mingle with the crowd, I'd say her chance of taking Iowa have been greatly diminished.

I don't like all that diva shit.  And those in attendance in Waterloo were not impressed with it either.

The write up I read on that from Fox didn't have none of that. Basically all that happened was BOTH candidates avoided each other. She waited until he finished and when she came in he left.

That is normal when two candidates are at the same event.

With the vitriol being thrown a Rick Perry today, from the left, the RINO elite like Kraut, and conservatives who have their panties in wads cause Perry has eclipsed Bachman: he packs heat, boys and girls. He can take your sticks and stones. Fire away at him, it makes him stronger. I hope he answers all the Kay Bailey Hutchinson/W Bush flak that failed before that they are all rehashing (plus; his Texas accent and swagger:::big deal).

I am mad at conservative blogs who claim to "embrace" the Tea Party of small government, border security, and pro-life/anti-abortion who are throwing as many dirt clods as the RINO's because their Romney is threatened. They are po'd about Bachman, I guess, or have a deep hatred of President Bush. Shame on them. I want a guy who will not take any Alinksy crap from Obummer. Romney will politely dance around the preznit's insults. Perry won't.

I'll be damned if I am going to slam GOP candidates (ok, Ron Paul). I would vote for Rick Perry today but I will vote for any of our candidates in 2012 against that JEF SCOAMF.

I am sure this has been discussed on this blog before, but "What makes a candidate conservative?" Rick Perry passes that test, no?

Posted by: ChristyBlinky at August 17, 2011 03:46 PM (FnRYN)

50 24:  You know some of us hate to hear this kind of  language all the time.  This is the language that obamao and all of his czars and certainly Rham (?) would use and politico etc., but you wouldn't hear Romney use it and I hope not Perry.  So how about using the English language without the profane!

51 I am sure this has been discussed on this blog before, but "What makes a candidate conservative?" Rick Perry passes that test, no?

If you go back and look at those evals that I did for the candidates, especially the first one, I listed the 6 categories that I thought would be the most important for conservatives this election. I then tried to obtain the best data for each category I could find from primary sources.

Perry came out OK but he does have some weaknesses.

"Rick Perry passes that test, no?"

Maybe...Yes and No! It's simple...if he passes the purity tests from the Tea Partiers, HardRighters, Conservatives, and the Bible Thumpers...he may win the Presidency by the biggest margin ever.

He still has yet to do that, but it does not mean he will not bbe the favorite and get the Nomination.....It is just super early still.

Vic, I am in a heavily GOP county. We would vote for Romney if he were the only choice, and he would have won in 2008 of that turncoat Charlie Crist had not supported McCain while throwing Guiliani under his orange bustier. Keep in mind we elected that bald guy,Gov. Rick Scott, over the chosen GOP insider wimpo, McConnell, blessed by Jeb, and who was Charlie Crist's cabana boy or AG or something. Rick Scott, businessman, may prove to suck lemons like all the rest, but I voted for him and my sweetie, Marco Rubio who is perfect in every way possible.

If there is a choice between Perry and Romney, I think Perry would win. If Bachman is thrown in, meh. Don't get me wrong. I like her...as a strong GOP conservative Senator. I love Paul Ryan, and could go for him as pres or VP if he ran, but not sure if he'd trump my current Perry or not. Folks her are talkin' Perry.

Romney has two bad things going for him: Romneycare and his religion (which matters not at all to me, as I have said before, I like Mormons). The South Florida bunch are wacko, so not sure how they'd go, but the rest of the state would go for Perry. I hope we'll see a poll someday.

That said, if Romney is the nominee against that flaming socialist there will be no contest on who I vote for.

Posted by: ChristyBlinky at August 17, 2011 03:59 PM (FnRYN)

54 Romney was the first one I evaluated. He was massive fail in every category. 0 for 6. He was the most liberal candidate of the bunch, even beating Huntsman in the most liberal category.

I would have to think long and hard if he winds up getting the nod. In addition, Rasmussen says the tea party will run a 3rd party if he gets the nod and 18% of the normal Republican voters will desert to 3rd party.

So let us pray that Romney does not get it.

It looks like it will boil down to Perry vs Romney.  Bachman will fade as Perry replaces her and her gaffes/lack of executive experience catch up with her.

Agree that whoever wins Florida will take it.  Agree with #54 that Romney looked to take Florida in '08 but then Crist helped McCain take it and that really changed the race.

The race will really boil down to the independents.  Perry (right now, let's see if it lasts) has more support with the conservatives than Romney.  But Romney probably will do better with the independents so may be better in the general.  We'll have to see.

#55 - a third party run by the tea party means that O is reelected.  The Tea Party will be destroyed if they go that route - even they must realize that.

"But Romney probably will do better with the independents so may be better in the general. "

I gotta admit, I was a Romney leaner voter -- his blandness, but then I heard Perry say the Fed's books need to be opened, the more I listen to his fiscal conservativism, the more I like Perry.

I did not like that whole "treason" insult against Dr. Bernanke, he started saying "treachurous", and switched to "treason", he should have stuck to the first and initial word. But Perry was right on the money with his charges of devaluation.  He needs to mainly stick to attacking Obama and touting his jobs record as well as who can fight harder on the economic issues against the Great messaih.

The best thing about Perry, he fights back hard, and Karl Rove seems to hate him, which makes me like Perry even more.

The only good thing about Perry is that the Bushies hate him.  This is because he is the mirror image of Bush.

As for Romney's popularity, it says something about the voters in NH that they can support/like someone who has a psoition decided by the time of day.
