New Treatment For Burn Victims?

I've known a few folks with disfiguring burns. One lady was making tea for her mother when she was six years old, and while standing on a chair by the stove her nightgown caught on fire. She was so scarred that she has worn longsleeve turtlenecks her entire life regardless of the weather.

Incredible. Wonderful. Kinda makes me tear up a little, to tell the truth.

...although Mr. Medical Device Salesman needs a haircut, a shave, and to put on some goddamn shoes. Tsk.

Seriously. His head resembles an ornamental chicken, and that pervy little EuroSmirk gives me the shivering douchechills. Not sure what demographic his look is supposed to appeal to, but I wouldn't let that hairy thing sell me a box of Band-Aids.

It must have taken NatGeo many bottles of Febreze to get the smell of vinegar out of their studio.

Still. Nifty invention. Hope it's for realsies.

9 I've had 2nd degree burns all over my foot. Looked like the hand in the picture. It healed completely, just took some time. I'd be really impressed if they could do something for 3rd degree burn victims, the ones who need skin grafting.

I'm particularly fascinated about how fast the skin stem cells reacted with the underlying tissue to form the new skin (one and a half hours).

I'm sure they're testing that as we speak. Perhaps all they would need to do to the skin cells for the more serious burns is add some growth factors and stabilizing agents to the cell suspension in order to facilitate quicker growth.

37 Sometime in the 1970's or 80's there was an infamous incident of a father who set fire to his son. The son appeared on most of the talk shows of the day; you can see his whole face burned. I wonder how he's doing now and if this could help him.
