Its a New Years Resolution. Its doomed to fail from the start. If you're looking for exercise equipment, start looking around March, you can probably find plenty of hardly used pieces of people that resolved to get in shape that decided they weren't going to.

I actually cleared out my cupboards last spring. There were a couple items I didn't recognize, and they had to have been mine, because we're the first owners on this house.

“There has never been a more ineptly orchestrated, just unbelievably subpar campaign for president of the United States than this one,” said a senior Perry adviser.
Perry’s steep plunge from front-runner to butt of jokes was chiefly the result of his own embarrassing verbal stumbles, most notably his insta-classic “oops” moment when he couldn’t recall the names of the cabinet departments he wants to eliminate.

That said, it's not yet the new year and every time I see that headline ad up there with Russell Simmons wearing his hat sideways, all I can think of is what a fucking clownish douche he is. And, that goes double for anyone who thinks he's anything more than that.
I don't give a fuck how much money he has.

I never go anywhere and can step out in the street and watch the fireworks from the street. However, I have an open air parking space about 100' off the river from where they shoot off the fireworks. (Jax does an astonishingly good show). At the very least I should drive over in my jammies and watch from the car. It's only two miles away.
Bet on whether I actually do it.

I resolve to hate more efficiently. Ideally, I'd like to automate some of my hate. Especially the more low-level hate, so I can focus more on the advanced hatred that I feel I'm missing out on.
There's also a lot of hatred lost during transmission. I understand the Germans have been working on a new form of hatred superconductivity that shows promise. Right now, when I tell someone to, say, Fuck Off, they are only receiving 40-45% of the hatred I'm sending out.
Hate superconductors promise to revolutionize hatred. If we ever achieve 100% hate transmission then that would be a huge time-saver. We could all spend less time hating then, and more time enjoying the suffering our hatred inflicts upon our enemies.

According to Arab Affairs correspondent Ehud Yeari, if validated the scrolls may be the most significant historical finding in the Jewish world since that of the Cairo Geniza in the 19th century.
“We know today about a couple of findings,” Haggai Ben-Shammai, Professor Emeritus of Arabic Language and Literature at Hebrew University was quoted as saying. “In all, in my opinion, there are about 150 fragments. It may be the tip of the iceberg.”
The scrolls, which were part of a geniza, a burial site for sacred Jewish texts, date from around 1,000 years ago and are in Arabic, Judeo-Arabic and ancient Persian.

Yes, it is awful that a few ugly members of the supposedly mature GOP have lowered themselves into the gutter and are calling supporters of a long-term Texas Congressman "PaulTARDS."
I'm sure Saint Sarah would not approve, not to mention what Todd's reaction would be if the epithet was used in his youngest son's presence.
Remember hypocrite fundies
1. Holocaust humor is A-OK when used to libel Pat Buchanan's family.
2. -Tard is an acceptable suffix ONLY when used to disparage the single growing segment of GOP voters.
3. Um................................... Well................ HURRRRP............. DERRRR............ IT'S.............. OOPS.

Go away, you catamite. There is a huge difference between referencing a generic term for people like yourself to mock idiots, and using the name of a particular person, especially one as harmless as Trig Palin. Also, in order to pull something like that off, it has to be done at least somewhat cleverly, and you are not.

In my free time I assemble stockpiles of scorn which I store in the back of my truck.
When I encounter a lefty doing their gratuitously self affirming thing I dump it over their unsuspecting, ill informed, mostly unused head before they know what happened.
Hating is exhausting, if you scorn ahead it's more efficient and you find yourself passing out the headaches instead of enduring them.
Smoldering leftys in the rearview are like a beautiful sunset.

DECEMBER 24, 2011 Iowa and the Future of the GOP No matter the outcome, Ron Paul's strength indicates a resurgence of the libertarian and isolationist wings of the Republican Party. http://tinyurl.com/cts9ocm
If any other candidate were to win the Republican Iowa caucuses with a demographic that could go head-to-head with Obama's base in the fall, we'd be having newsweekly cover-stories and round-the-clock cable coverage. Instead we have the usual silence from liberals who cannot take domestic libertarianism seriously and from neocons desperate to keep the Military Industrial Complex humming at Cold War velocity. But Paul is a demographic dream for the GOP. What the party desperately needs is an outreach to the Millennials and, to a lesser extent, the Gen-Ys and Gen-X's, if it is to be saved from dying out in the near future. Alone among the candidates, Ron Paul, at 78 76 years' old, is able to attract them to the GOP.

I think what is really going to be a hoot is when we rightwing, neocon fundy trash get control of the government again - we are always on the verge of establishing a theocracy, I hear - and point out that gay sex is pretty unhealthy too. I understand it takes anywhere from seven to twenty years off your life expectancy. Since the lefties have already agreed that the government can regulate your lifestyle if it is deemed unhealthy, they will surely agree that the reintroduction of sodomy laws is for the best, right?

Your sarcasm aside, the statement
"The GOP has a decision to make: Ron Paul, or death."
is a fact well-supported by the demographic realities quoted by Andrew Sullivan, not an opinion. I don't need to convince anyone that facts are true.
I've already asked what, if not the RP rEVOLution, is the future of the GOP, but nobody answered.
Ron Paul, or death, are the two REALISTIC options for the GOP.
If anyone has a better alternative (besides wishful thinking) I'd love to hear it. We all like a good laugh around here!
Is Romney the GOP's great white hope? Nope.
Palin? Nope! Perry? Nope! Newt?!? Hell no.
Come on you tough-guy shit-talkers, tell the class what REALISTIC alternative there is for the future of the GOP besides Ron Paul.

I do so hope another Ron Paul blimp is commissioned this last go around for the good doctor. Of course, said module is just what the staff at the home call his daybed and VHS/DVD combo player setup.)

Why do the commies keep bleating about "hunger in America?" Do they ever go out? People are waddling around. When's the last time any of us ever saw anyone who looked malnourished? (Apart from supermodels.)
Assholes, we have an obesity problem, and it's most pronounced among the poorest people.
So quit whining about "hunger." I doubt that there's anyone in America actually going hungry.

Or there's Meriwether Lewis' birthday resolution:
This day I completed my thirty first year, and conceived that I had in all human probability now existed about half the period which I am to remain in this Sublunary world. I reflected that I had as yet done but little, very little indeed, to further the hapiness of the human race, or to advance the information of the succeeding generation. I viewed with regret the many hours I have spent in indolence, and now soarly feel the want of that information which those hours would have given me had they been judiciously expended. but since they are past and cannot be recalled, I dash from me the gloomy thought and resolved in future, to redouble my exertions and at least indeavour to promote those two primary objects of human existance, by giving them the aid of that portion of talents which nature and fortune have bestoed on me; or in future, to live for mankind, as I have heretofore lived for myself.
He was in the middle of the expedition when he wrote this.

Has it not sunk in for you that Ron Paul is fatally damaged in any confrontation with Obama? That bunch loves to accuse any who oppose them of racism. With Paul they have a racism gold mine. Remember how Obama associated with all kinds of awful people like Ayers and Wright but the press refused to pursue it? Won't work that way for Paul. The press will make sure everybody knows the sordid details with updates at the top of every hour.
Then there is foreign policy, where Obama can make himself look like a genius of international diplomacy if the other guy is Ron Paul.
Remember what Kang and Kodos said when Homer Simpson threatened to vote for Perot.

Raise voting age to 30 with exceptions for military service or contributing $1 million or more to the federal revenue base. Those with a real investment in this nation, be it by threat to life and limb or capital sacrificed, get early access despite their youth.
Change to sequential run-off voting. Increases the voters option of voting FOR someone rather than against the worst case scenario. Also makes for a lot more fun and betting scenarios, which is good for the economy!

It will be one of the best things you've ever done.
I smoked a pack and a half of Camel Lights every day for 14 years until I put my last cig out at 10:36 in the morning, June 17, 2007.
And yeah, it was tough as hell. I couldn't even drink coffee for two weeks because I was so used to pairing it with a smoke.
However, after about a month and half I could walk a mile without wheezing and after 4 months, I got my senses of taste and smell back. Plus I probably added 10-20 years back on to my life.
It's not easy but it is well worth it.

Good for you ErikW.
It's sad, but I'm at the point of "quitting quitting."
I quit for 11 months. Then, the family took a road trip, a long one. I found myself driving, wife and kids snoring, sun blazing, getting tired. I noticed my wife's cigs and eventually got one out, not intending to smoke it, but sniff it and amuse myself. Well, we know where that ended....
Anyway, I was miserable for that 11 months. I was truly an asshole. Every day all I thought about was smoking. When I took that first drag on that road trip all was right again. Even my family has stopped bugging me about smoking after enduring me for that shitty 11 months.
I hate it. Worse than heroin, at least for me.

I smoked my last cigarette Oct 19, 2006 on the way to the ER while having a heart attack.

Is octopus similar?
Octopus is definitely chewy / rubbery...but the roll will have diced octopus, which eliminates a lot of the mouth feel most people don't like about octopus.
Typicaly the handroll will consist of japanese mayo, diced octopus, diced green onion, chili powder/five spice, and flying fish roe. It will be wrapped in a large sheet of seaweed, snow cone styley.
It is good stuff.

I can hardly wait to see true prioritized health care.
Somehow, I think the death panels (or IPAB to use a subterfuge) will be staffed with the "medical professionals" that are so dangerous and incompetent that even their associates don't want them near a "live" patient.

I got to skip a week which is good, but just stretches it out longer. My blood platelet count was too low and had not recovered enough from the previous session.
