No Memory or No Shame? [ArthurK]
— Open Blogger

I watched ABC network news for July 20th. They had a story on Bachmann's migraine kerfluffle. John Karl reporting - he said this.

"... common practice for more than a generation has been that presidential nominees from the major parties release extensive medical records going into their entire medical history..."

I don't have the vast resouces of ABC news. But from memory I knew that Karl was full of beans. I didn't have to look anything up but, to have a nice link for you to click, I did a google search and easily found this.

For contrast, McCain had a detailed release. 1500 pages in 1999.

So I ask the assembled Morons - does John Karl have no memory or no shame?

4 I know this stuff can feel like Yeomans labor, but each time this evidence must be uncovered then documented then plastered where we can.   Each blatant hypocrisy, like here, a few more previously uninformed people stumble across it and begin questioning the MSM.

We "rabble" have already brought them down quite a ways to where even most lefties admit there is bias and then must go through much mental gymnastics.  Used to be they didnt even have to admit it to themselves let alone work hard to rationalize or justify to themselves and others.  Take Hope! We have already come a long way to discredit their "coordinated messaging" just in the last few years.

5 I hope everyone fully understands that the primary (pun intended) foe in the coming Presidential election is the Make Believe Media.

Stop giving money to those in Entertainment who will just give it to Democrats by purchasing the products that they profit from.

I know it will be hard to avoid those products (like trying to find something NOT made in China) but try.

And let them know WHY you aren't buying.

Encourage the Republicans to get right back in the Medias' faces when they distort, obfuscate and unfairly frame the debate.

Tell your candidate that standing up to them will pay off.

Most candidates are afraid of ticking off some reporter and they'll never get any  face time. Remind them of Sarah Palin and others who have not let the Media bully them.

Remind the Media themselves as often and when possible (note how hard it is to send feedback to any news outlet) that they will be held accountable for their partisanship.

Start planning now. It is only going to get worse and that's not counting all the Union money and all the foreign money that will flood into Oba Won Kenyobi's election effort.

6 I should mention,  once they start questioning the MSM the whole house of cards comes down pretty quickly for most people.

9 Good god.  That is really pathetic.  Its almost like .. uhh what Bush used to say, "The soft bigotry of low expectations"

They all know Obama probably had two or three cocaine rehab stints and medical records from pokeeestaaaan for years at a time

I don't know what the big deal about the scar on his head is though.. He probably fell as a kid or something.  Not like its a sign of heavy drug use

Don't get me wrong, I'd still vote for Bachmann over O'dip$hit and walk over broken glass to do so...  But, there is a point though to the Bachmann migraine thing causing a problem for her.  Migraine or Cluster headaches are so fucked they make one incapacitated for days at a time.  That could be a problem for a President.  Medications, even 'round the clock narcotics don't make them go away.  If I hear another idiot like O'Reilly talk about her 'little headache' problem like he did at end of his show today I'll come through the screen at him.  Or shoot my fucking TV.  Migraines and Cluster 'headaches' aren't headaches.  In the same way breaking your pinkie toe isn't the same as breaking your pelvis.  Jesus

10 The press seems enamored with a tax increase - lets write one that penalizes them.  I'm sure we could kick up FCC fees, require an EPA clean-up fee on newsprint, and require cable providers to offer ala carte pricing.  Wrap it all up in one bill, and at a high level tell the press to start playing fair or else it gets passes and signed at the earliest opportunity.

11 iirc, clinton never released his, either.

Posted by: Anachronda at July 21, 2011 12:08 AM (xt04m)

12 The lesson here is that Election staff should be vetted like the way they do for those being cleared for top secret data.

Bachmann should have forced the 'leakers' to be revealed before acquiescing to the Media's cries for Medical records and Doctor's notes.

That said, yeah it is a sour note that may put some people off.

It's all orchestrated for one thing; to force the Media's candidate on the Republicans.

They don't like Bachmann so she gets the scorched earth treatment first.

31 So long as Obama remains insulated as untouchable and "perfect", his attacks against opponents are meaningless.

Until Obama's history is an open book, the media remains knaves. The only time of day they're worth is the time it takes to destroy the liars writing today's "history".

33 I'd suggest that #5 has one part of the response to this right: as we come up on 2012, it's time to stop feeding the MSM. Cancel subscriptions to newspapers that are egregious about how they report. Don't click on their ads if you're at their websites. Better yet, don't visit. Turn off CNN. Turn off MSNBC. And so on. How will you get your news, you ask? There are enough news vendors out there, you'll find the ones that bring news to you without all the editorial nonsense. Newspapers particularly are sensitive right now. Their subscriptions are down, down and have been going down for a decade. Cancel and let them know why. Stop feeding the beast.

35 JFK took loads of medication for pain but it was hardly talked about.  FDR had polio.  But Bachmann has migraines every now and then and the MFM has to blow it up into major story?  Could a doctor tell us what the MFM is suffering from?  They seem to have hissy fits whenever a Republican woman runs for office and they think it's their job to stick their poison pens up the poor woman's uterus.  To me it looks like the media suffers from derangment.

36 He got confused.  The reporter thought Obama released his medical records, and that they showed he had nothing significant.  Actually, what he released was his academic records.

49 I  don't particularly care what the common or historical realease of such information is.  The condition alleged  was serious enough to require some documentation to the contrary (That condition being chronic migraine with weekly episodes and severe episodes requiring both emergency and  inpatient treatment.)  That is a medical issue that would be a serious impediment to leadership, as not only the peak incapacity but the prodrome and postdrome in interfere with thinking and judgement.

I seem to recall a popular video of a newscaster forced to go on air despite a raging migraine who suddenly began speaking word salad.  Migraine can be a serious impediment to one's work depending on how it manifests.

Common migraine is common, but Bachmann was alleged to be more severely affected than is the usual case.  I think Bachmann is a lousy candidate for a number of reasons, and I couldn't be sure they are all separate from her neurological quirks without some evidence to the contrary.

She needed to be upfront about what she has told her doctor about her headaches,  and about their frequency and their management.

Posted by: SarahW at July 21, 2011 06:59 AM (Z4T49)

50 Seems to me to be pretty much par for course.  I was walking my little man this morning (he woke up a little early) and overheard the TV downstairs.  I heard George "Clinton Bitch Boy" Stephanopoulos (I believe) interviewing somebody about the latest polls.  Did you see this? Did you hear about this?  (Thank you, Jimmy Volmer . . .)

Apparently, Obama is surging, is in the lead in most polls, and independents are upset at "how Republicans are handling the debt ceiling" situation.  Funny, I though I saw a whole series of recent polls that showed exactly the opposite, on this very website.

The whole point of these clowns is to create a parallel reality in which liberals can safely ensconce themselves so as to not have to face reality.  Sorta like "going to your safe place."  Only liberals tend not to have the will to create their own, respective safe places, so they need their ministers of propaganda to create one for them.

the sinner,

Patrick

52 There are almost as many types of migraine as there are migraine sufferers. The same person can get several different types over the course of their lifetime or even a single year.

Thomas Jefferson managed to do OK.

And even the worst migraines rarely take you out of the fight as long as playing 18 holes of golf, sucking some celebrity wiener, and taking time to bow and apologize to some foreign leader who hates America.

Michelle Bachmann may get migraine headaches occasionally, but Obama is fuckin stupid 24/7.

55 I have to believe that Obama gets away with this crap (don't forget his academic records) is because he is black and people are so deathly afraid of being accused of racism if they call him on any of this that he gets away with it.  The problem is that this is going to hurt all black candidates in the future who try to run for high office.
