No Seriously We're Going To Put Up Other News, But, Just This
— Ace

GLOW, the Gorgeous Ladies of Weiner.

He was following a lot of cute young things. Some of whom (and not just the Comely Coed) had announced crushes on him. Like the porn actress, for instance. Who got a DM from him. And said she was physically attracted to him.

Suspicious? Yes of course, and this is the thing: Because that sort of mixing between men and women who could be attracted to each other is a suspicious, and dangerous, proposition, most people try to avoid that sort of thing.

And when they don't avoid it? Bad things tend to happen, because people don't really think very much once the sex drive engages and basically takes over the entire brain.

@Stranahan interviews a girl (his daughter?) on the swirling controversy of whether she took the cookies.

Um: I had added Jon Stewart because I had heard he gave a shout-out to blogs staying on the story. Um, yeah: to Gawker, to Daily Kos, etc., for disproving the story. Ahem.

And the one blogger he slammed for speculating -- Andrew Breitbart -- gee, just happened to be right. Though Breitbart wasn't speculating. He was noting the fact that Weiner was following a lot of young, cute girls who had nothing much to do with politics.

So I took down the link. Not worth it. He talked around the story, implied Weiner was innocent, and congratulated Gawker and Daily Kos on their tip-top journalism.

3 The twitterati sent out their minions to do their bidding. Washington cannot tolerate threats to insiders that might disrupt their comfortable world. ... A lesser person could not have survived the first few minutes of the onslaught. But out of the billowing smoke and dust of tweets and trivia emerged [a] Weiner!

8 A friend of mine described Weiner as "not just a dick, but a dick's dick".  So that makes this issue about a dick's dick's dick.

Great vid - want to bet someone gets panties in a wad because she says "jackass"?

9 Another line of questioning would be a follow up on her initial allegation that someone else, did, in fact, steal the cookies and to state his identity - now that she's no longer willing to confirm that a cookie theft had occurred as she first stated.

White House moved press briefing up to 12:30 PM,  apparently believing Mitchell.

37 The whole question of Lee and his shirtless picture, versus Weiner and his shortless picture, comes back to the Republicans are killed by sex scandals but Democrats are not. Double standard? You bet. But expected since Republicans at least TRY to pretend to have some decency and morality driving their attempts to govern. More the fools, go Caligula (or Clinton) and then all is fair in love and porn.

The best issue to hammer Wiener and the Dems generally is the security angle. I think it was Ace who pointed this out - if he sends stuff like this (and normally does not screw up and sends it as a direct message), Twitter has all sorts of dirt on him. What kind of leverage does that open a sitting member of Congress to? If it was a hack, as he claims, what sort of potential leverage could be had against ANY member of Congress if this kind of hack attack can happen?

This should be investigated by the FBI for national security purposes, and if a hack it needs to be pursued aggressively. And if not a hack, the story needs to shift to how Wiener is a liability due to his on-line antics. And a morally depraved individual that his constituents SHOULD have a problem with as their representative.

46 "I'm pleasantly surprised that Stewart went as far as he did, even if he left a LOT of low hanging fruit unplucked. I suspect that this is as much as we can expect out of him, though." I stopped expecting little more than outright shilling for the Democrats years ago. That "Play Nice Rally" that he put on after Glen Beck's Washington rally was so blatant, anyone could see through it. Yeah, mean rhetoric was a huge problem for Stewart, until the unions started with their screaming, angry mob behavior. We're all partisans, the difference is that some of us are honest about it, and Stewart is one more liberal media hypocritical asshole, pretending to be more tolerant and unbiased than the mean, old nasty wingnuts. The only times he does snarky comments on libs, is when they become so unbelievably ridiculous, that he can't possibly not joke about them.

52 As Stewart admits, they were beach house roommates and friends since their 20s.

The main joke of the Daily Show piece was Stewart saying the dic-pic can't be Weiner because Stewart refuses to believe his friend Weiner could possibly have such a monster cock.

Seems like they are trying to turn Weiner into the next Tommy Lee.

Blah, blah, coed, blah, blah, twitter, blah, blah, Rep. Weiner's GIANT THROBBING COCK, blah, blah, breitbart, blah, blah, blogs, blah, blah.

And can that tactic actually work in our porn-saturated modern world? I'm guessing the avg person is now familiar with what big dicks actually look like. Kinda weird to see simultaneous mini-me dick jokes and giant cock jokes sit side-by-side on the same dic-pic.

We don't seem to have similar eye-of-the-beholder disagreements about breasts. If Hillary tweets a tit-pic I don't imagine we'll see dueling "flat chested" vs "omg mega titties" twitter war.

57 this again plays to my theory that he may have f'ed up and sent it to the wrong person while twitting with several people. like I mentioned in the post yesterday, perhaps it was intended to go to the porn girl... re: stewart, media embargo, etc.... Weiner is rather a big dick in NY politics, though he is just a little wiener everywhere else. problem is: most of the major media outlets are (a) liberal and (b) based in NY. So if (a) doesn't follow, then at least (b) does. Think that might be why conservative and "conservative" outlets have been rather limited in touching this story

If he was not a Congressman, but rather an ordinary civilian with a security clearance and this happened his clearance would be, at best, suspended and a full investigation made to determine if he could be susceptible to compromise.

65 You bet. But expected since Republicans at least TRY to pretend to have some decency and morality driving their attempts to govern. More the fools, go Caligula (or Clinton) and then all is fair in love and porn.

That's the false rationale employed by the MBM to dismiss one half of all sex scandals.  Name a Democrat who runs as an open sexual deviant - they couch their debauchery in a thin veil of plausibility and mumbo jumbo about "health" and "gay rights."  How many Democrat politicians are married and parade their wives around in support of their campaign?  Is that not in the very least a strong public implication that they intend to be in a faithful, sexually monogamous relationship with the wife - that a faithful, monogamous relationship is an aspirational norm?  How many times did the Breck Girl invoke his "wonnerful wiaafe 'Lizbeth?"  Remember the staging of Camelot 2.0 back in 2004?

Otherwise - if those are "the rules," every time a married Democrat runs for office, the MBM should run a disclaimer that:

"*The candidate's public display of admiration and affection for his or her spouse does not imply love, monogamy or a belief in monogamy and the candidate reserves the right to engage in extramarital sexual relations without public ridicule, report or judgment.  The candidate may, without further notice, engage in sexually perverse behavior in violation of accepted societal norms and reserves the right to keep the behavior - including past instances of such behavior - private.  The candidate's public expressions of religious belief and/or practice do not imply a belief in the sexual morality promoted by said religion."

71 You're absolutely right to cover the daylights out of the Weinergate story, Ace. Stating the obvious, the story here isn't about a married congressman behaving badly. The story is about blatant media bias and the ideologically based agenda that drives it. Every instance of media hypocrisy and bias needs to be caught and held up to the light. The message, 'They are lying to you', needs to get through and around the gatekeepers of the mainstream press who claim objectivity and churn out agitprop. And yes, Weiner jokes are irresistible. All things being equal, Stewart did slam the media pretty hard for not asking the questions that needed to be asked. And this on top of the fact that he indeed  stated that he is a friend of the congressman. So there's that.

Also, I've noted that quite a number of other blogs are giving props to ace.

Nice to see that.

That's what's really killing Weiner-- he's given them their lie, they're supposed to repeat it for him as fact.

99 Short question for the media:  "Rep. Weiner, do you want to apprehend the person who hacked your accounts or not?"

Posted by: nickless at June 01, 2011 12:01 PM (MMC8r)

The problem here is, he's changed his story.

It's no longer a hacker, but a prank played by him, suggesting that it's someone he knows that had access to his account attempting to have fun at his expense.  That's a huge difference.

He's lying about it, of course, but it's still a big difference.  No one investigates pranks, usually.

Posted by: curious at June 01, 2011 08:18 AM (k1rwm)

104 The term coed is weirdly anachronistic. Sounds like it's 1963 and it's still somewhat novel to have young women going to college. At this point more women go to college than men. Hell, the coeds are the men now. Colleges used to be geared towards men -- and were a lot rowdier. Nowadays colleges have been fully feminized.

110 If any TV comedian had any guts they would do a segment "Weiner's Zipper Cam." A walk through the Capitol shot just below waist level, with a quick visit to the pie shop in Georgetown and the underwear counter at Bloomingdales.

123 Okay, this is serious and is why this story is important if you want Demotards to lose. From Human Events in the sidebar: At any rate, as long as Weiner looks electable, no one in the Democrat Party will pressure him to resign that seat. His problem is that heÂ’s become ridiculous. His role as a front-line attack dog for the DemocratsÂ’ ugly class warfare tactics is over. From now on, heÂ’s just a blowhard who will have to put up with audiences bursting into uncontrollable fits of laughter at the mention of his name. Exactly. Taking out one of the enemy's fortifications.

Well, not really.

First, it's RIM (Research in Motion).  Second, depending on the picture, it's IN A POCKET.  What kind of pants was the guy wearing where the pocket was completely see-through with a shitty Blackberry camera?  The phone would've also had to have been completely sideways in his pocket, which would look really strange with one side of his pants sticking way the hell out.......

Since Marcotte unleashed her genius upon Weinergate yesterday, I can't help but think back to the Duke lacrosse case. Establishment folks naming the accused, but not the accuser, and after all names have become de facto public knowledge, sanctimoniously attacking others for having no decency? Or their reflexive unwillingness to question the accuser's background or motivations or veracity, while magnifying every minor character defect of the accused as relevant to the emerging story, circumstantial evidence integral to establishing their guilt?
