— DrewM Maybe before Obama tries to con us all again that his Son of Stimulus will save or create a bazillion new jobs, his administration could try something simpler. For starters they could not kill hundreds of jobs at a time.
Texas energy company Luminant announced on Monday new burdensome Environmental Protection Agency regulations are forcing it to close several facilities, which will result in about 500 job losses. The company will be idling — stopping the usage of — two energy generating units. It will also cease extracting lignite from three different Texas mines.
...
“We have hundreds of employees who have spent their entire professional careers at Luminant and its predecessor companies,” Luminant CEO David Campbell said in a statement. “At every step of this process, we have tried to minimize these impacts, and it truly saddens me that we are being compelled to take the actions we’ve announced today. We have filed suit to try to avoid these consequences.”
Via David Hauptmann, last year the Democrats passed a $26 Billion "jobs bill" to prop up state worker payrolls, exactly what he's talking about now. This is simply an attempt to subsidize public employee and other unions.
An oh by the way, Bank of America just announced they are cutting 30,000 40,000 jobs in the next three years.
Pass this bill!

Indeed. He did so because he knows that most Americas are still by into the myth of the noble and heroic teacher, who labors selflessly to bring the light of education to the ignorant.
If only it were so! If teachers, and school administrators (far worse) were not so keen on making the educational system itself ineffective, perhaps I would have more sympathy. But every year the results get worse and worse. All because Liberal ed policies have been put in place. It wasn't the parents who wanted to end discipline in the schools and keep the bad kids in place to menace others, or to move from math and language and science to the BS of psychology, creative basket weaving, and ethnic grievance mongering. The pathologies of the modern system came from the Leftist who have over run the system.
If there were any justice, the first thing we'd do is fire every damn Liberal in the entire establishment, K thru University. Volunteer parents with some solid prepared course work could fill in the holes for a while. They manage it in the home schools. They can manage it in a classroom - once order and discipline are restored. That has to come first. The worst kids need to be kicked out, and the others sternly disciplined.

BARACK HUSSIEN OBAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.........OPEC sharply revised down its forecast for world oil demand for this year and expected consumption would remain weak in 2012, citing on Monday waning economic growth in key industrialized nations and a weak U.S. driving season. The 12-nation group that supplies about a third of the world's crude oil slashed its global oil demand forecast by 150,000 barrels per day for 2011 and by 40,000 barrels per day for 2012, saying "turbulence in world economic recovery has resulted in considerable uncertainty for demand growth next year." The result will most likely raise the price to $120+ per barrel.

This is a SCHOOL DAY! So, either:
1: They were not teachers, but admins and such.... or...
2. They were not REAL Teachers, because they abandoned their Classrooms, and Students, for a political event... and...
3. These 'Teachers'... if they left their classrooms, Substitutes had to be hired, and they were therefore there at Taxpayer Expense... for a political rally... somthing which I believe is ILLEGAL.

"Former Congressman Prentiss Walker dropped in on a farm and introduced himself as a Republican candidate. And as he tells it, the farmer's eyes lit up, and then he said, 'Wait 'til I get my wife. We've never seen a Republican before.' And a few minutes later he was back with his wife, and they asked Prentiss if he wouldn't give them a speech.
"Well, he looked around for a kind of a podium, something to stand on, and then the only thing available was a pile of that stuff that the late Mrs. Truman said it had taken her 35 years to get Harry to call 'fertilizer.' So, he stepped up on that and made his speech.
And apparently he won them over. And they told him it was the first time they'd ever heard a Republican. And he says, 'That's okay. That's the first time I've ever given a speech from a Democratic platform.'"

A lot of conservatives keep calling for more tax cuts yet that isn't the answer right now. The answer right now is two-fold. We need to establish some consistency and stability in what the buisness community can expect from the government.
We should (1) make ALL the Bush tax cuts permanent and (2) undo every new regulation enacted by the EPA and all the other myriad of government jackbooted thugs in the past 10 years. And yes that goes back to the Bush years as well.
After that we can look at totally eliminating some agencies.

Quoting from the EPA:
The benefits of the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule far outweigh the costs of the rule.
The final rule yields $120 to $280 billion in annual health and environmental benefits in 2014, including the value of avoiding 13,000 to 34,000 premature deaths.

Democrats can't handle that.
This will cost a lot more than 500 jobs. If energy is more expensive in texas, or if we have brownouts, that will impact a LOT of our factories. There are major factories all around me in Texas. The social safety net such as it is is best gained through employers being in a highly competitive market for skilled employees. States are better able to mate resources to need for their citizens. If $uper Welfare is the answer to economic success the blue states would be booming.
Your beloved FDR Safety net is a pay/go Ponzi scheme that pits the productive against the poor. You steal 17% of people's wealth potential to have a system so half-assed even your godling Obama bitched about it. Funny. The WH must not have a photocopier, it's been 4 days and we haven't seen the text yet. Apparently there are no Kinkos in the DC area. And I guess the budget for the PDF converter was cut.
Point there is no excuse for not turning this bill over to Congress to read. He is waving the magic blue folder as part of Kabuki Theater, to create the impression that Congress isn't acting. That we are stalling, because he chants pass this bill, when nothing has been introduced for Congress to act on.
So as far as we are concerned until he actually submits the text, there is no bill. Period. All he has is paper he is waving around.
And we make sure, when he *finally* gets around to turning in his homework, 2 and a half years late, and a week later than he promised, we announce when it arrived, so that we aren't blamed for the stall.

OT:
Obama speech in Egypt: " The Holy Koran tells us...."
Obama speech in New York yesterday: "The Bible tells us..."
Notice the difference?
Holy Cow, that's subtle!

"He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear,"
Barkster pronounces "bow" like what he does when greeting a Saudi King.

I am so embarassed for my country.
