— Ace As I mentioned yesterday, I am keenly interested in whether or not recent events represent Obama's Fallujah, or his Sadr City.
Obama's disapproval went up +1 to 51%.
Obama's highest weekly disapproval rate was 50%, but this 51% is based on a three-day rolling average, not a weekly snapshot, so those two are not directly comparable.
Obama's highest level of disapproval is 52%, something he's hit twice line the past month (and hit before last August, before the 2010 elections). So the record for the three-day track would be 53%.
Since the track of July 26-28, there have been thirteen three day averages; Obama's disapproval has been at 50% or higher for ten of those thirteen windows. (And was still in the high 40's the three times it was under 50.)
His approval also went up one point, so he's at 41%/51% and on the net no worse than yesterday.
Of course I am hoping that we finally see the long-anticipated break here.

I don't believe so. There just is a core, 40 to 45 percenters, of the electorate that will ALWAYS, ALWAYS vote liberal Democrat. That includes blacks and Jews - no matter the black unemployment rate, no matter what Bambi does to Israel.

I think this is probably more accurate. There's probably about 33% or so who will never, never desert him. He could be found with a live boy & a dead girl, and they'd still vote for him.
I do think that once he breaks below 40, he's done. If that does happen between now and, say, September '12, there will be a name other than Obama's at the top of the Dem ticket come November. At that point, he will have lost all the independents and, most importantly, the ones he's currently lost will be so thoroughly disillusioned there will be no way to get them back with him on the ticket.

From Maureen Dowd ...
“Obama’s assumption that you can rise above ascribing villainous motives has caused him to waste huge chunks of his first term seeking bipartisanship from Republicans who were playing him for a dupe.”
This line gives Obama (and the Republicans) too much credit.
It should read Â…
“Obama’s assumption that he could rise above his personal
inadequacies has caused him to waste huge chunks of his first term
trying to ‘will’ his own predetermined outcome while the Republicans
(and some Democrats) were hoping he would get a clue on how to negotiate
in a bipartisan manner (or any manner for that matter). DC isnÂ’t
Chicago after all.“

35 O/T: "The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has called for an investigation into reports that the Obama administration is granting Sony Pictures and director Kathryn Bigelow “high-level access” for a film about the Navy SEAL operation which killed Osama Bin Laden. The movie is scheduled for release one month before the 2012 presidential election."

Leni Riefenstahl could make a propaganda film that would sway opinion, but no more. Who's going to plunk down $11 to watch this thing? Libs. It's like Fahrenheit 911. They preached to the choir.
Now this movie will be a little more slick. It might not even feature Barry too much, but the viewer will either want to see a military thriller (and hence be turned off by too much politics) or will want to see a political film (and hence be unswayed.
Propaganda today is achieved by making snide remarks in sitcoms or cartoons or even do the Daily Show schtick of replacing the news entirely with biased entertainment. But it has to be continuous and it has to be free.

Has anyone seen a reasoned analysis on the effect of the increasing trend of cell phones being the primary or sole communication hub vs land lines as regards polling. I've heard pollsters comment on this anecdotally, but haven't seen anything published.
Do cell phones publish the address and zip of the person being polled? If not, then this is why they don't do it. Its a statistical model of favorability towards a subject within a construct of known constraints (neighborhoods/socio-economic strata/race/etc). They would have to poll a significantly increased number of random phone numbers to begin to build a picture of public favorability towards any subject. Their confidence numbers would likewise decrease and margine of error would increase.
That is my guess.

Yeah, but what I'm positing is a complete Demo-geddon anyway. Think of it- if President Obama (who is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure) hits even the high 30's on approval, they'll know he's going to lose.
Add to that the fact their magazines (as in: ammunition) will be mostly empty- Wisconsin was a costly mistake, all contributions made to Obama between now and whenever he finally completely capsizes will have been a costly mistake. Unions falling apart, etc., etc. They'll be demoralized (because of these two reasons, at least), and Republicans will be looking for "pay back" for 2006 & 2008.
At that point, they'll have to do something to staunch the bleeding. Now, here's the thing: I don't think it'll be Hillary. I think they'll call in someone from the proverbial AAA leagues to be a sacrificial lamb in the hopes they'll at least enthuse the base enough to prevent complete disaster on the down-races.
You'll get lots of appearances (once again) from people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (who would love to be in the limelight again anyway) talking about how, while they'd love to support Barak, "we need to face reality. His intentions were good! His plans were grand! But he was brought LOW!... by the intransigence of the Republicans!" Or something like that, anyway.

lol. The main difference between the remakes of those two films and their originals will center around the forms of "dancing" *ahem - "dry humping"* displayed in them.
I saw some teaser trailer for the Footloose remake and after I saw the one dancing scene, I felt really dirty. Wanna know how bad the Footloose remake is going to suck? It sucks so bad that even Kevin Bacon won't have a cameo in it.

All the middle class Americans who couldn't afford to take a vacation since 2008 might not agree with the spokesman.
I think the American people will begrudge him a vacation if his shitty policies contribute to sustained losses on Wall Street during that 10 day period.
I'm just glad my mother had the distinct feeling that the shit was about to hit the fan and cashed out her 401K this past Thursday.

I use something called StreamTorrent 1.0 to stream baseball games. I'm guessing that's highly discouraged by the MLB, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay Comcast $150 for the MLB Network so I can watch the Pirates get beat down. Pretty much any popular sporting event can be watched using that, from what I can tell.

OT, but comments are over a hundred so going OT was bound to happen anyway.
I have a question.
The YOBs are able to spread the bile in Phlly and elsewhere via cell phones.
What constitutional right would it violate to ban pre-paid, untraceable cell phones?

I remember the dOpe saying he only wanted one term early in his campaign because that's all he needed. I remember thinking that sneaky bastid is a puppet for a much larger sinister organization. I didnt know much about soros at that time, because I was too busy learning about dick soetoro and his history that is all scrubbed from the intertubes as he was gaining in the primaries. The only one that will primary the dOpe is Hildebeast, and that may have been the reconciliation plan after he out sleazed her in the primaries.

Personal observation - Obama approval poll results are only half as interesting as London riots. Does this mean Obama skates while London burns or does it mean everyone is getting tired of his shit and wants to move on? I leave it to the morons to figure out.

The polling needs to be broken down state by state, by electoral count.
If JEF skews up because of a 65% popular approval rate in California, that popular average doesn't matter when most other states add up to an Electoral disapproval rate of more than 50%.
Back to you, CAC.
