— rdbrewer From Bret Stephens at the Wall Street Journal:
Socrates taught that wisdom begins in the recognition of how little we know. Mr. Obama is perpetually intent on telling us how much he knows. Aristotle wrote that the type of intelligence most needed in politics is prudence, which in turn requires experience. Mr. Obama came to office with no experience. Plutarch warned that flattery "makes itself an obstacle and pestilence to great houses and great affairs." Today's White House, more so than any in memory, is stuffed with flatterers.. . .
Can anyone recall a memorable phrase from one of Mr. Obama's big speeches that didn't amount to cliché? As for the small speeches, such as the one we were kept waiting 50 minutes for yesterday, we get Triple-A bromides about America remaining a "Triple-A country." Which, when it comes to long-term sovereign debt, is precisely what we no longer are under Mr. Obama.
Then there is Mr. Obama as political tactician. He makes predictions that prove false. He makes promises he cannot honor. He raises expectations he cannot meet. He reneges on commitments made in private. He surrenders positions staked in public. He is absent from issues in which he has a duty to be involved. He is overbearing when he ought to be absent.
If I could quote more, I would. More stupid is as stupid does at the link.

Dylan Ratigan joined Andrea Mitchell Monday on the list of MSNBC anchors who appear to be losing faith in President Barack Obama's leadership.
Discussing the type of president required to lead the country in times of crisis, Ratigan remarked, "Wouldn't anybody who wrote a memoir before the age of 50 be rather screwed up anyway?"

Is baseball still our national pastime? I haven't followed baseball for a long time, but it seems like it's still an important sport in America. Anyone truly in touch with American culture (our head of state, for example) would recognize this, and speech clichés would be expected, as long they refer to baseball.

Mr. Obama, by contrast, appears to consider himself immune from error. Perhaps this explains why he has now doubled down on Heckuva Job Geithner."
Either that or he can't find anyone willing to take it. Carney revealed one ugly truth, and it killed him to do so; the office of the President doesn't really create jobs. What he did not and will not admit is that the office has a tremendous ability to destroy jobs. They have no cards to play, anything constructive that they can do would be anathema to their base and would validate the Republicans and would ultimately bring on the reckoning that we cannot go on as we have.
On that last point, both Dems ad Republicans are agreeing to forestall that as long as possible.

1. The Dem Journos that went all in on this guy. They will not give an inch because they bought into him -- Greek columns and all. They're too invested and will defend him at any and all costs. And that includes talking about him as Obama the cerebral intellectual.
2. The Dem Journo affirmative action faction. Those that know that not defending him is in essence throwing in the towel for their most sacred cow -- affirmative action. They cannot allow him to be criticized lest that proves a bigger point about the pitfalls of racial preference in hiring/professional status elevation etc. so they too have to grind their teeth as they double down on the notion of his 'smarts'.
3. And finally those Dem Journos that can have the vision to know that he's doing irreparable harm to their brand. This is what we're starting to see now. They may be willing to toss him aside if they know that they could bring in someone stronger in 2012.
I think we'll see more of number three in the coming months. Maybe. Inch by inch. I could be wrong on this though. Regardless it will be interesting to watch unfold.

I've never thought Obama was smart. I know what smart is. Whenever I go to conferences, I see these other mathematicians presenting their work and I have to ask "How did they come up with that brilliant idea?" or "How did they have the patience to see through those awful calculations, I would have been sure they didn't work?"
Most of them are inarticulate in their native language, let alone English.
But they are brilliant nonetheless. I saw none of that in Obama. I suppose I always think mathematics is the sieve of true genius, but even in the fields Obama was in, there were no new ideas or clever reworking of old ideas or the ability to solve problems.
He just repeats tired old tropes in an arrogant and pompous manner and I suppose Americans took that for intellect. (Hey, it works for most college professors.) He doesn't even make a particularly good con man, despite his clear ambitions in that area.
Still, I'm never enamored with "smart" in our leaders. Character, modesty and a bit of wisdom worked for Washington and Coolidge. It's liberals, not conservatives, who need ubermensches to rule over them.

Let me provide an example of teh definition good management I use in some of my seminars.
A young man and his father are at a ranch watching a new bronco stallion in the coral. It is clearly a wild and untamed horse, full of spirit and strength. A cowboy goes to the horse and mounts him, and the horse proceeds to buck and twist, jumping and trying to violently throw the rider off. But the cowboy stays mounted on the horse, anticipating each move and countering them to stay in the saddle until the horse finally calms.
The young man says "That cowboy sure is a great rider, despite everything that bronco did to try to throw him off, he was able to stay on him, he surely must be a master horseman"
The father replies, "No, son, he is merely at best an adequate rider, because if he were a master horseman, the stallion would never have bucked at all."
You can probably figure out the lesson yourself.

I'm thinking this as well, if only because both they and the Dems will realize that Obama's going to crash hard in 2012 and it's a question as to whether they can put a tourniquet on the damage by cutting him loose or if they end up setting themselves back a long time.
Losing the White House would be bad for them in 2012, but losing a bunch of influential members in both chambers plus a lot of rising stars would damage them for at least 6 years, if not a decade. Look at what happened to the House in 1974, when the "Watergate babies" swept out a lot of Republicans due to Nixon's personal unpopularity.

You get book smart by sitting around by yourself reading about what other people think is the right way to do something.
You get street smart by getting out and doing it yourself learning about life in the real world.

In Detroit's case, the steadily declining population there means that it should hold less and less sway over the rest of Michigan at some point, though there are some suburbs like Dearbornistan which may take up some of the slack in regard to the Dem turnout machine.

If the press is preference-cascading now, St. Barack of Chicago is looking at a real buttfucking next November, particularly if the possibility of even a token primary challenge comes to pass. Barack keeps delivering variations on the 'Malaise' speech, constantly complaining that it's not his fault, but effectively emphasizing that he's a floundering incompetent who can't get anything done.
This is political suicide by a thousand cuts.

First the riots in London started because a "young father" was shot by police.
No mention of the fact that this young father was a gang leader and a career criminal. Also no mention of the fact that he opened the ball by shooting at the police who were following him.
Second, a good way for the government to "save money" without raising taxes is to reform the tax code by eliminating the deduction for home mortgage interest and by taxing the health insurance provided by employers as income.
Now personally I have no damn idea how employer provided health insurance is some kind of "deduction" that needs to be reformed but I do know that under Obamacare they have already levied a tax on that if it is one of those so-called "Cadillac plans". Unless you are a union member which were exempted by that makeup session that was aided and abetted by our illustrious member R from MA.
So here we have a tax increase for 50% of the public who actually work. And note that it is only 50% because 50% of the public don't pay any taxes at all and this will not change that. But it is reform and not an increase in rates.
Hey you Fox SOBs, I have an idea. Lets truly reform taxes. Lets make it a flat 15% tax on all income regardless of amount and source. That's a tax increase for 51% of the public.

Happy birthday, Mr. President
I want to wish President Obama, who turned 50 last Thursday, a happy birthday. I am really proud of the job he has done as president.
As always, he is in my prayers. I know that the road has not been an easy one. It has been a big job.
But he is prepared for the assignment that has been put before him. I know at times he has felt alone on this journey. But he needs to know that he is not alone. There are more people for him than against him. He should know that he is loved.

I didn't say it worked out well for Houston, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, or anywhere else that got the welfare trash shipped out of NOLA.
I just said it broke up the NO voting machine that depended on turning out that particular group en masse to win close elections, like Mary Landrieu's first Senate race over Woody Jenkins in 1996.

I constantly tell my students that (1) we all start out idiots, (2) one of the keys to shedding our idiocy is to have people around us that point out our flaws and stupidities, and (3) listening to people who point out our flaws - even if we don't like the person, truth told by an idiot is still truth.
I'm an academic, which is a profession that (rightfully, in many cases) is derided by the 'rons and 'ronettes. But I've had the privilege of meeting (and learning under) many who have what I call "the soul of an academic". These are people who don;t care about winning the argument, but about getting at the truth. So, when they get challenged with new information, they examine the information. For them, it's all about finding out what is "true", not what they hope was true.
It's a hard thing to do, and one of the hardest thing for PhD students to learn. That's why I laugh when people say Obama is so smart because he TAUGHT a the college level. That's not the same as being an academic IMO. From all accounts, he never produced any scholarly work, and didn't take part in the rough-and-tumble of academic discourse (and doing so at U of Chicago would have humbled him right quickly).
Are there assholes in my field? No doubt - at least as many as in any other field where smart people who've performed well in high school/undergrad congregate. In many respects, we get the tails of the asshole distribution - the biggest ones and some of the humblest, brightest ones around.
Unfortunately, Obama is on the wrong tail of the distribution rather even if he's a "faux" academic.

Anyone starting to think that London is our future?
In the urban centers of deeply indebted blue states... yeah, possibly.
A blue state is like the "fire triangle" - first, they have a large population of people who live off of entitlements (fuel). Second, they are more likely to have restrictive gun laws and a legal system that favors the perp (oxygen). Add the third element (combustion) and you'll have a fire on your hands.

"Granholm and Obama share some background: Each powered through Harvard Law School and into politics. To do so, they relied on intelligence, pragmatism, likability and social adroitness to win allies. ... Obama, an African-American male, similarly adopted a disarming style, winning respect for his brain power and political skills. As a black man in a largely white power structure, he needed to model strength without threat. Although both share traits of mental toughness and perseverance, and may be tougher than they seem, their calling cards have always been intelligence and attractiveness."

There won't be a primary challenge.
If he gets forced out (and it will be the Golden Parachute of all Golden Parachutes if they manage it, he'll basically get his $1bil in campaign funds back), it will be at the convention and a smoke-filled room will pick a winner.
The Democrat party prefers that way of doing things (Mondale for Senate, Lautenberg replacing Torricelli) anyway. While CW would say that the American people wouldn't have time to get to know the candidate, the Dems have a pretty good track record of trotting out inexperienced newbies to campaign on vapor.
If this happens, though, the presidential nominee will only be there to keep a downballot massacre from happening. Even in that case, the black voters will have to be convinced that Obama is doing this voluntarily.

This is political suicide by a thousand cuts.
Which is why I think the Dems will toss him aside.
1980 was a wipeout of a lot of highly influential Dems in the Senate like George McGovern and Frank Church because Carter got blown out of the water early enough that turnout sucked in the west.
This is a year with 22 Dem seats up in the Senate and all new districts for the House, many of which were drawn up by Republican governors and state legislators elected during the 2010 midterm, which means it will be a lot more competitive for them than normal.
It's possible that the Dems lose enough seats in the Senate to be in the same position that the Republicans were in back in 2009, after Snarlin' Arlen flipped, between actual 2012 losses and a bunch of retirements from people who don't want to spend time in the minority.

James Taranto over at Best of the Web had some pretty good snark yesterday. He quoted some commentator who opined that the basic difference between progressives and conservatives is incompatible definitions of liberty. Conservatives believe in "negative liberty;" i.e., that government should stay out of people's lives while progressives progressives believe in "positive liberty;" i.e., that government should allow people to achieve their potential by guaranteeing minimum education, income, etc. Taranto then snarked, "To sum it up a bit more pithily, whereas conservatives want freedom from coercion, liberals want freedom through coercion."

True, but the second "sells" where the first does not.
Think about the mushy-moderates you know. They want to like Obama. They have some amount of guilt both over the fact they think he's a failure and that they voted for him. When you tell them "He's trying to destroy the country" they reflexively reject it: it hits too close to home, as it were.
However, when you tell them, "He wants to radically alter our society to match his ideal. The problem is that his ideal is too liberal and coincides much more closely with Marx and Stalin than it does with Jefferson and Madison," they can agree to that, and they can then absolve themselves of some of their guilt- because it has now been explained to them why he shouldn't be supported.
I wonder if Rush and Hannity and others had taken that tack, instead of just calling him (accurate though they were) a socialist/marxist who wanted to destroy American culture- if McCain might have won in spite of himself.

You can count on this much... If somehow against all odds Dick decides not to run or is given the boot through machinations in a smoke-filled room at the Demotard Convention, it will be a white flag. It will be the biggest signal ever sent declaring "We expect to lose in 2012." You have to go back fifty years to LBJ to find an elected Preznit who didn't run again. That decision did not prove fruitful for the incumbent party.
Posted by: George Orwell
But again, they may already be counting on this. Think about how many have decided to retire. The debt charade is failing. They hitched their wagons to an untalented hack who is now embarrassing them. The redistricting in the House is going to trend away from them. The ones in safe districts are staying, but most of the ones in competitive districts have bailed. If Obama is on the ballot, you can get decent turnout in the blue states, so pissholes like California, Delaware and New York will be safe(er). But his presence will cause independants to vote against him and cause split ticket voting at best.
Finally, I think that the results of the Wisconsin recall elections will be telling. If Dem operatives and union thugs couldn't throw one state supreme court race, or oust some state senators, in Wisconsin of all places, then they are probably already counting on this being an out cycle. If they can;t sell this crap there, then they ave no hope of retaining all of the ground they won in 2008.

What I'm wondering is if, outside the inner cities, if they won't have the same situation if he IS the nominee.
They're in a big pickle either way, IMHO.
2012 is going to seriously affect that unstable coalition of the black vote, the non-Cuban Hispanic vote, the feminist vote, the gay vote, and the liberal vote.
Favoring one particular group within that coalition, such as keeping Obama around to keep the black vote happy, will be done at the expense of the other groups for various reasons.

What I mean is, the majority of America is open to being led, but they need to be led away from what we've seen the last 11 1/2 years.
A GOP candidate who can stand before the American people and, with credibility (sorry Mitt) explain how and why we've spent ourselves into oblivion...with republican's like W adding zeros to the checks...they can offer a clear alternative and distinct option.
America (except for the 35% that would vote for Satan if he ran as a demo) has tried left with Carter, squishy center with W and far left with BO, and they can see with their own eyes those options are only different shades of gray. And none of them work.
What they want, I believe, is a truly different option. One that doesn't look, sound, and smell like the last 20 years of Washington BS. Sorry, establishment R's, you're part of the problem.
The candidate who can do that will, IMO, be our next president. In a decisive fashion.

If you asked a Dem today why in Hell they elected a guy who cranked out not one but two memoirs, you'd be told that you were a liar. If you asked one why they did a bait and switch in the New jersey Senate race (Lautenberg for Torricelli) they 'd say that you were mad.
If it suits their needs, they will do it. We're talking about the Dems. With cratering employment rates, the black vote is likely to be depressed anyway. As for alienating them, the Dems are right to figure that they have no place else to go.

Obama got where he is because he's a moderately bright guy who found it easy to flim flam lefties who wanted to believe. The guy is a college diversity officer's wet dream -- black skin, well-spoken, nice pants creases, exotic background, and superficially literate. In academia, every door flies open for a guy with qualifications like these because there are so few of them. He personifies what the affirmative action establishment lives to promote.
The problem? He is functionally incompetent. His path through academia and politics has been trackless. Once he lands in a prestigious position, he is unable to do anything to distinguish himself. His grades suck (or we would have seen them by now), he creates nothing publishable during his tenure on the Harvard Law Review, he votes "present" during in the Illinois senate. His only executive experience was blowing millions of other peoples' dollars making a couple of Chicago elementary schools worse than they already were in the Annenberg Challenge.
So let's give this guy the biggest executive position on Earth. Yeah, that was bound to work out well.

The Met is now discussing using "more aggressive measures". I am not sure how they will be able to stop this considering they are low on manpower and do not allow their officers to fight-back. Posted by: George Orwell
You misunderstand me. I suspect that they are realizing that they have largely lost the independants that they managed to fool, and are now looking at a depressed black vote. Usually, people tend to be more active voters when they are employed. The black community is suffering from Obama's policies. And as for black youth, some of them are engaging in these idiotic mob activites. They are not likely to then turn around and vote. Also remember that King Putt is now pandering to gays. That won't sit well with some elements of the black vote. Will that last one be enough to sway votes? I don't know, but it will dampen enthusiasm. And finally remember that the novelty is gone.
I think that a combination of the above, coupled with the traditional Dem talent for Newspeak, can achieve JEF being 'retired' to some fancy foundation. Don't believe me? Check out Jesse Jackson and Sharpton. Given the right combination of titles, preening and cash, they will sell out gladly.

True enough. However what Demotards need is to maintain the power of a sitting presidency. They already have their man inside, so why change midstream? There is no precedent for this historically that works out well for the incumbent, certainly not in the last fifty years.
And yet they've been openly talking about castig Obama the incumbent as an outsider.
What Demotards need is to double down on the lie that Barry is doing fine and just needs four more years to finish the job. Job One is burnishing Miss Dick's reputation, and turd-polishing is right up their alley. Secondarily the Demotards must keep minority turnout high, and merely switching candidates will not address that. They need to gin up the race-baiting and promise more goodies to minorities.
I agree that if they thought that they had a chance of this working, they would. Obama is clinging to it personally. But when Bob "I was on vacation" Schieffer of CBS rips Axelrod and points out that the situation has worsened, then the wheels are coming off.
It is getting awfully late in the game for a challenger to get in, especially on the Demotard side. Hell, no one over there even has an exploratory committee. I omit moonbat joke candidates like Dimwit Dennis.
The later the better. Less money to spend, less time to take shots, and more distance from the current crop. That's why Perry and Palin are playing a waiting game. if the pool is full, and you want to make a splash, you either jump in last or amke a fancy entrance. I still think that if Obama is replaced, it will be someone to his right, who hasn't been tarred with the recent ugliness. I still predict Evan Bayh.
Also, didn't Nader predict a primary challenge or ask for one? A near guarantee that it won't happen.

Right. This is one of many reasons that I don't think that BHO Sr. is his biological father. Those who were a part of the program which brought Kenyan students to America (the Mboya Airlift) were picked for that program because of demonstrable intelligence and academic achievement. BHO, Sr.'s intellect is evident even when he wrote his apologia for a confiscatory state. His alleged progeny, however, couldn't begin to make an articulate case for leftism. Getting into Mensa is, apparently, laughably easy- what you really need is a modicum of logic (hard to find now days, true) and an invitation to take the test.
That's what really makes it so exclusive- the test is by invitation only.

Justice would require that those 7 states be cut off from the financial underwriting they've been getting from all those "flyover red states".
We (the red states) have been indirectly responsible for allowing out tax dollars to be siphoned off to underwrite the left coast, the peoples republic of Massacheutsas, and Blue York City. Can't substantially disagree, however all the talk of challenges is merely talk so far. I suspect it is designed to make various observers think the Demotards are paying attention to the long game, and to get Dick off his skinny ass and back to Hope'n'Change campaign mode.
I'd agree. I've seen nothing of substance thus far.
Two things: Where is the exploratory committee, and where is the historical precedent? Again, if Barry steps down, Dems lose, and they know it.
Again, you're approaching it the wrong way. If the perception is that with JEF they will not get the campaign cash and/or the independant vote, then they lose in that scenario as well. He may even drag down the ticket. The question now is whether there even is a scenario where a Dem could win. If not, they might as well leave him there to take the hit. If there is, then they will do the Torrecelli two-step. And they will do that with a complicit media. As for an alternate, I'll admit that I've seen nothing, and there may be nothing.
I doubt many minorities would be pleased with a pasty-white Evan Bayh pushing President Affirmative Action out the back door.

I would assume that no first-term president ever gets quite as low as a second-termer. There are always people who "approve" simply because they want their party to retain the White House and they know there will be no challenger. So they have to "approve" of the incumbent if they are party loyalists.

There can be no excuses for the violence and the intimidation of people that we have seen over the last few days.”
He concludes by telling parents to keep track of their children. Now, what does he mean by "firm action"? It sounds like a scolding. His later response about needing "the strongest possible police response" is better but he doesn't define what that means. Though then we have Cameron, who talks tough but still hasn't delivered. AFAIK Dick is getting plenty of cash in fundraising.
His fundraising is below the rate of 2008. And this time, he has the advantage of being the incumbent. That's telling.
As far as the independent vote goes, it cannot be considered in exclusion of the black and hispanic vote. While I may be wrong, I thought the usual breakdown of votes in the past showed that if the Demotards didn't get substantial percentages of minority votes, they couldn't win the WH in a dozen elections. If Dick is pushed out minorities will not turn out to vote as readily as in the past.
I take all of these voting blocs as they are, so I look at them individually. Again, you are predicating this based upon if the Dems think that they have a chance. They may already be consigned to the notion of a lost independant vote and a depressed black vote. Hence the blatant hispandering. If you examine CAC's maps, the happier scenarios are based upon at least Obama losing the independant vote.
At any rate, why assume putting in Generic Democrat after a sitting President is dumped by his own party would win any independent votes for Dems? Such a move smells like desperation, and independents have noses if not brains.
Yes they do. And in 2008 they smelled hope and change. In 2011, they are announcing that they don't like what they're smelling. In 2012 they may get to smell something different.
Still, no historical precedent. We had better assume Barry is the opponent in 2012, and it will be a much closer race than many expect.

So what's your point? The data says the red states are doing better than the blue states simply points out that we've been taxing the red states and putting the money where it does the least good. (Usually to buy electorial votes.)
I look at the same data and know it's time for the red states to get their tax money BACK and be allowed to invest it in their own state where it's more effective. My state typically gets back 60 cents on the dollar that it pays to the fed. My property values would have been MUCH higher had we been investing that in our own state instead of funding the blue state's liberal spending to buy votes.

I am reminded that the Hobbits were brave beyond all reason. They were slow to anger, ready to eat bacon at any time of day, full of laughter, and then, when pressed into a fight that they would have rather avoided, they moved forward into the enemy stronghold. Haunted by doubts, they moved forward. Given opportunities to quit or hand the burden to another, they moved forward. Abandoned and betrayed by ones sworn to be allies, they moved forward. Oh, to be a hobbit, and never have to bend a knee, to live with honor and selflessness and mirth and earn great respect by our deeds, and finally and most important of all perhaps, to do what we said we would do. John McCain could learn a thing or three from a Hobbit. But, instead, he has inadvertently set a very high mark of behavior for us to attempt to reach. For Frodo!

So, I guess we're done here.
Sean, your "facts" are taken from a point in time (2005?) and bare no resemblance to the last 40 years of federal funding to the individual states. What you've posted as facts are laughable....
Anybody else here on this thread see spending in their states that reflect the numbers Sean posted? How does your state funding compare to his post of 2005 over the last 40 years? And BTW: *MY* state didn't receive any of the democratic "stimulus" since then.
I will personally guarantee that my state funding has reflected 60 cents on the dollar and your post tries to imply it's been receiving $1.05. I'm not talking about 1 year. If funding over the last 40 years reflected your figures this nation would have been so much farther in debt economic collapse would have happend long before now. This is obfuscation at best....and if that's the best you can do, then I guess we are done.

Again, you miss the point. But before I get to that....rates at which tax dollars were spent and then received back have been relatively consistent over time. I pulled the first source I found, but if you want to spend the next 30 minutes tracking a better source, go for it.
But that's not the point. The point was, you made an assertion, I gave you a fact set that didn't conform to that, and then you told me that the facts supported your argument.
Go google "Ignorantio Elenchi" to see why that doesn't work.
Hell, I am even on your side and sympathetic to your argument and I said so up front. Instead of assuming that there is some goodwill on my part, I get back a dose of some attitude.
Attaboy, how to win friends and influence people.
Look, I can't help it if you cannot see the mile-wide logical hole you left between your two posts. I can't help it if you can't construct an argument in a linear fashion. I can't help it if you think "fact" is a synonym for "opinion."
But really, for the love of God, please stop making your shortcomings my problem. We don't have to continue this, I'll roll my eyes and stipulate that you are correct and you can smugly assert "I told you so." See? win-win.
Have a lovely day.

But surely, Obama said this:
"States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States. In any of these cases, the price of indifference would be catastrophic."

shiggz,
I understand your frustration. But speaking as someone from the "stupidest generation" who was voting for Libertarians and making the most conservative choice possible in any election probably well before you were born, who has saved so my family won't have to worry about my wife's or my finances no matter what happens to SS, who has resented putting social security dollars into the system but who didn't feel it would be beneficial for my family to rot in jail for making the gesture of non-payment:
(1) There are a lot of us out there, we ALL have paid in, and we ALL vote.
(2) Starting a dialogue with "screw you, stupid" probably won't get you the results you want.
(3) When you take that type of hostile tone from the start in any negotiation, you assume the risk that people who might sympathize with your position and could be natural allies will be driven into another camp.
Nothing for nothing, just something to think about as you try to win hearts and minds.

For serials, Obama said this:
"We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age."
At the time, this passage was supposed to be visionary and inspiring. Looking back, it's just a bunch of pathetic, empty words from a guy who actually could have accomplished something.

"These two strawmen walk into a bar, arguing, when one says to the other "Logical phallusy? You mean "fallacy!"
Get it? instead of "fallacy" I wrote it "phallusy" which is sort of like penis and its extra funny since they two guys are "strawmen" and a strawman argument is something I use all the time in my speeches even though its a pretty obvious logical fallacy ... phallusy... (tee hee). Them being in a bar has nothing to do with anything but I put them in a bar because a lot of jokes start that way so I used it here.
My speechwriter taught me all about that stuff.

Oh, I'm certain Obama would dearly love to turn the U.S. into a European-style "social democracy"... or better yet, an old-fashioned feudal state with him as king-for-life. Fortunately for us, he's too stupid, inept, incompetent, and blinded by his own narcissism to successfully pull it off. (Not to mention that eventually his equally "brilliant" staff will start wanting a little of the credit)
It's like watching an episode of Blackadder.

My dog, Meatball is at least a hundred times smarter than Barrack. He doesn't shit on the people who feed him. He knows how to get what he wants without threatening or whinning. He doesn't wreck the house and then attempt to blame our last, lamented dog for the chaos.
Meatball can tell us when he wants to go for a walk, when he wants someone to play with him, when he wants his belly rubbed, all without a teleprompter.
He is smart enough not to bow down to cats; nor to piss on far larger dogs; nor to bite the hand that feeds him. Meatball knows enough to be wary of Muslims and would never say the Muslim call to prayer is beautiful.
Meatball would never steal from the other dog's food bowl in the name of "social justice" or justify his behavior because he was making the rich dog "pay his fair share."
Meatball is many times smarter than Obama. But Meatball is a dog, and Obama is a wolf
