Obama On The Economy: The Checks Are In the Mail! Swearsies!
— Ace

Justice delayed is justice denied.

“I wish I could tell you there was a quick fix to our economic problems. But the truth is, we didn’t get into this mess overnight, and we won’t get out of it overnight. It’s going to take time,” he said.

I wish I could tell you that no one warned you that Nancy Pelosi's and Harry Reid's "stimulus" wasn't, but I can't. Everyone warned you.

Your response?

"I won."

Bonus: A couple of days of polling are not a trend, but those Rasmussen "Passion" Index figures are looking bad for Barry. [Thanks to ArthurK.]

Now I should be linking Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow," the theme of Obama's life, but that version's actually cool.

Can I go lamer?

Sure can.

26 way OT but... Weiner!!! cribbed from JWF New York Daily News Lying about sexting apparently isn't Rep. Anthony Weiner's only gray area. When Weiner (D-Queens, Brooklyn) was photographed by the Daily News fleeing the Capitol in his Nissan Pathfinder, it was clear the July 2007 registration sticker in his window was expired, and there was no inspection sticker to be seen. Weiner, through a staffer, said the 1988 Nissan Pathfinder was registered in New York State. Not so, said the state Department of Motor Vehicles. The New York license plate bolted on Weiner's Pathfinder - US Congress 9 - had expired as of 2006, according to the DMV. "That license plate should not be on a car," a DMV spokeswoman said. It wasn't even issued to the Pathfinder, but to another one of Weiner's cars, a Honda, according to vehicle records.

35 We need to start communicating with Marxists about how government and business actually work.  They are beasts that care only for their own territory and survival... the Key to peace and prosperity is to keep the beast smaller then King Kong and better Chained up.  Even if you are convinced you could harness King Kong to plow all the fields and build all the houses, he cant be controlled... he just cant.

1.*When you put in a shortcut to "help" someone, you put a hole in the dam for millions of people to game the system.

2. *if Bush under-regulated some parts of the economy, Obama has over-regulated some parts of the economy.

-note about #2, Though Bush unregulated some things like the FED, Republicans tried to get Fannie and Freddie under control and Democrats, who many of whom were getting sweetheart deals and lobby money from mortgage lenders, played the race card.   The larger point is this isn't an aberration,, this is what will always always happen if you create a shortcut between business and government.  Good intentions don't matter when you poke a hole in the dam

But Barry does have a plan for jobs. It's a fool proof plan!

Speaking at an energy-efficient lighting plant in Durham, Obama called for training more engineers as a means to boost long-term economic growth

Obama announced a program to train 10,000 new American engineers every year through a public-private partnership.

Obama agrees on the need for spending cuts overall, but wants to increase spending in some areas, such education and clean energy technology like the LED lighting the Durham plant creates — spending that he says creates jobs.

10,000 engineers a year and "green" jobs. That's so bloody brilliant, isn't it?  I mean there's just 10,000 engineering jobs a year just sitting out there waiting to be filled. A LED lighting ought to create a billion gazillion new jobs.

53 “I wish I could tell you there was a quick fix to our economic problems. But the truth is, we didn’t get into this mess overnight, and we won’t get out of it overnight. It’s going to take time,” he said. Funny, according to Barry's chart used to sell the "stimulus," Barry told us exactly when we would get back to normal. In fact, Barry explicitly predicted on that chart that at the start of Q2 2011, we would be at 6.5% unemployment. In other words, Barry and his plan are unqualified failures, by his own predictions and promises.

I was just in my break room listening to co-workers gripe about this. No time because everyone has downsized and that means the same work with less people.  More work for the same pay and no one has seen a raise in several years. Couple that with no vacation because there's no spare money.

135 For anybody who doesn't know, the whole point of Keynesian stimulus is for it to work RIGHT NOW!!!.  If it doesn't work RIGHT NOW!!!, then it doesn't work at all.

Keynes famously said, "In the long run, we're all dead." He was simply borrowing against future good times in order to pay for current bad times.

In theory, maybe it works, but the multiplier effect only holds if people aren't afraid to spend because of an arbitrary and capricious government and its rules.  And no matter what the idiot econometricians say, tax cuts are better because people aren't going around rent-seeking.

The best solution to a recession is deregulation.  Nobody benefits economically from regulation.  If you don't want an activity to take place, tax it.  At least then the government will get a few bucks from it.

The fact that Obama feels free to utter such drivel just shows you that he knows the MFM will not hold him accountable for anything.  I remember him running around telling everyone during the campaign that the economy was the 'worst since the Great Depression.' (Of course, the state of the economy under Carter was never brought up for comparison).

Now, after 2 1/2 years of failure, he's telling us he didn't know how bad the economy really was.  What actually happened was that he and his advisers just assumed that the economy was going to recover regardless of what they did and they would claim credit for success of the "Stimulus" spending.  Unfortunately, these dipshits didn't take reality into account and now they're strangling the economy in favor of their Progressive agenda.

166 If only we could engineer a method to extract electricity from willful ignorance we would be in the black again.

It still looks to me that the average leftie's motivation in life is to suppress the obvious facts that people are motivated by reward, and everyone is better off when people are allowed to compete for jobs, business, and degrees, and that hard work and perseverance cannot be granted by any bureaucracy. The entire political mission of the Left is to defeat what they know to be true.

You - Katie Couric, you aren't trustworthy. You - Rachel Maddow, you aren't trustworthy. You - CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC - you won't deliver my message, you'll deliver someone else's message and distort my words to do it. You can do that without me.

Ad space, internet, radio, FOX News... I know it's a terrifying thought to boycott the MBM, but the GOP needs to stop playing the loyal abused wife and walk out. It will be better without them.

168 83 Obama announced a program to train 10,000 new American engineers every year

Now he just has to figure out how to get them across the border.
___________

H-1B, naturally.

169 Actually, we did get into our current trouble overnight. Over one night in november of 2008.

it used to be the fringe left who would scream about taxing the rich

today it's the mainstream Democrats who are openly and loudly calling for appropriation of the wealth of others.

Bullhorns and union placards are the new torches and pitchforks. This has already begun outside people's homes.

And remember when Andrew Cuomo and Richard Blumenthal were going to "out" the AIG workers refusing to "voluntarily" take cuts intheir pay? I know it's a stretch to say that was a threat of violence, but it's a short stretch.

173 Now I should be linking Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow," the theme of Obama's life, but that version's actually cool.

Nope.  Not cool.  Whenever I hear that song, I envision Fleetwood Mac performing (lip-syncing?) it during Clinton's inaugural ball.

Is it fear or common sense not to stick your hand on a hot stove?

Also, fuck off.

I'm sure that when you implemented the Recovery Act your staff briefed you on many of these challenges." At this point, Obama smiled and interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.

Yeah, it's hysterical that people are out of work and that Barry lied about it. I've got a shovel ready project for Immelt's skull

177 Speaking about the economy...
Just had a home improvement contractor call to let me know what they could do for me.
Told them there wouldn't be any home improvements in the VIA household till the economy improved.
Told them to call back after the election.

After a somewhat lengthy pause, the laughter  from the other end started.

Yeh....people understand.
