Obama Reverses Himself (amaze-agog!) On Signing Statements

Separation of powers? It's for you Constitution-lovin-homos. Not for me.

Therefore, the president wrote, Â“the executive branch will construe section 2262 not to abrogate these Presidential prerogatives.Â”
In other words: we know what you wanted that provision to do, but we donÂ’t think itÂ’s constitutional, so we will interpret it differently than the way you meant it.

In a mere few days, President Awesome yet again reverses himself on a major issue, one he hammered President Bush over, the use of "signing statements".

Here's how he felt about it before he felt differently about it.

His signing statement explicitly states that he will not obey de jure. So, who has standing to sue to enforce the statute as written?

That's fine, so long as you don't spend any tax dollars on those positions that have been officially de-funded. Any attempt to suddenly re-write that section to add funds where none were authorized is an explicit violation of black-letter Constitutional text.
