Occupy Baltimore: We Agree With Joe Biden!
— Ace

If you get raped -- and look, you're gonna get raped, I mean, look at this crew -- do not go to the cops. We certainly don't want any pigs around here, harshing our mellows.

No, report the rape to our own Occupy Baltimore "Security Committee."

We will make sure the rapist... gets counselling resources.

The pamphlet says that members of the protest group who believe they are victims or who suspect sexual abuse "are encouraged to immediately report the incident to the Security Committee," which will investigate and "supply the abuser with counseling resources."

The directive also says, in part, "Though we do not encourage the involvement of the police in our community, the survivor has every right, and the support of Occupy Baltimore, to report the abuse to the appropriate authorities."

Does anyone else think it's darkly comic that the following dichotomy exists?

1) OWS "protesters" don't want to get the police involved in cases of alleged rape.

2) VP Biden is out on the campaign trail threatening that, without Obama's alleged jobs bill, there won't be enough money to pay police to stop rapists from raping people.

BTW, I'd like to see someone remind the Veep that one of the most effective methods of control tyrants employ is the threat of rape.  It tends to keep the locals in line.  And if it doesn't, well, it's a nice way to "reward" your most loyal goons.

I think you do not know the meaning of the word community. These usually have laws, legal systems, etc. That's what distinguishes the community in which your "community" is being graciously permitted to peaceably steal and assault others from the "community" you've established.

The fact that they're issuing this statement suggests that they know there is a problem.   And why wouldn't there be with young women camping out overnight in urban environments surrounded by strangers?   As a father of two daughters, let me tell you that the Occupy Wall Street movie looks more like a scam to get young women into tents than a political movement.

But, be that as it may, to me the obvious point still needs to be made.   We've had reports of sexual assaults from the OWS movement.   To my knowledge, there were never any such reports from Tea Party movement events.   Will anyone in the MSM draw the obvious conclusions?

I disagree, I think it isn't to isolate the group from external support, but from external society; so that their societal identity becomes the OWS group, at that point you no longer need to use coercion in order to whip them into action, as they have become an insular sub society with new morals and beliefs. Then when excise the rest of society as being "outside" your insular group, you can then move your insular group against those outside elements. Think of it this way, police will probably have to stand against this thing when it first goes violent. How much harder for the OWSers will that be if the same cops who provided response to, rape, assault, and theft, perpetrated by OWSers, are now the cops standing against the group action. You can't have that kind of confusion in your little revolution, thinking the cops are good and parts of OWS is bad, when you know at some point you are going to cast the cops as the enemy and OWS as an unquestionable good.

So, the Occupy movement is like an abusive relationship?

Posted by: ParanoidStillAGirlInSeattle at October 20, 2011 01:56 PM (RZ8pf)

Yeah, pretty much.  Enablers and abusers, all jumbled up into one confused mess.

I mean, just read this ridiculous passage from a story about Occupy Oakland (found via JWF):

The tumult around security centered on the man who throttled Hughes on Monday morning. His name remains unknown, but camp followers described him as a large man with an intimidating physical presence and a penchant for harassing residents verbally and physically. He worked in the camp kitchen and made regular appearances at meetings and gatherings.

On Monday morning, tensions came to a head when the man attacked a woman who was staying in the camp. That's when Hughes intervened. A large group of people immediately surrounded the two, and pulled them apart.

A restive calm resumed until about 3 a.m. the next morning when the man, who was upset that one of his co-workers in the kitchen had received two pieces of chicken instead of the allotted one, went on the rampage again. He knocked over several tables, then picked up a fork and brandished it threateningly against three women.

That's when people started discussing other options. Should they call the police? Should they subdue the man on their own? Opinions were divided. "We do everything by consensus in here, and consensus is a difficult process," Hughes said. "But eventually people talked and came to an agreement that we were going to kick him out."

I like highlighting the chicken thing.  How very SOVIET.

The best part?

But that wasn't the end of it. The man kept yelling. He nearly attacked Hughes again. Then he took a piece of tape and placed it across his own mouth. He left, but later that night he returned. He went to several tents, including the collective food tent, and started throwing things around. It was only when someone picked up a piece of wood and cracked him across the head that the ordeal ended.

But the experience of self-governing and sanctioning violent, unstable members of their own community proved deeply unsettling to many occupiers.

"We are supposed to be nonviolent," said David Elmore, 60, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, ex-convict and homeless parolee. Elmore, who witnessed the man's violent outbursts, said that the person who hit (the bad guy) in the head wasn't a resident of the camp. "In some ways, it's good that he wasn't one of us," Elmore said. "But we're supposed to be able to resolve our own issues."

You're supposed to be able to resolve your own issues... but you couldn't.  So someone else had to do it for you.

You'd think a former Marine wouldn't be SO FUCKING STUPID.

Would this be a killer ad for GOP candidate?

Two cars pulls up to the gas station, a minivan and a sedan. A mom gets out of the minivan and a black man in a suit gets out of the sedan.

/cut to shot of the man's passenger seat with a folded newspaper section of the help wanted ads.

They both start pumping gas. And they look at electronic numbers on the pump go flying by.

/cut to shot of grocery store cash register ringing up groceries.

The numbers on the gas pumps keep going and going.

/cut to shot of national debt clock

Back at the pumps the numbers are going faster and faster. The man and woman shake their heads -- the weight of the world is on their shoulders.

At the end the man and woman return the nozzle back to the pump and then look at each other. They nod.

Fade out. Black screen.

Full text of the statement at the link.  Pull quote insanity:

As the Security Committee of Occupy Baltimore, we release this statement to ensure the safety of our newly forming, delicate yet strong community.

Sexual abuse and assault are dehumanizing acts for the survivor as well as the abuser. It strips people of their right to safety, dignity, and respect, basic values which embody many of the intentions behind Occupy Baltimore. As a vibrant community, we recognize and give power to these values and the rights of survivors.

Sexual abuse or assault at Occupy Baltimore is in violation of our values, and will not be tolerated. It is an explicit policy of Occupy Baltimore to prohibit abuse by any member of the community upon another person. Violation of this policy will result in the abuser no longer being welcome at the occupation.

Though we do not encourage the involvement of the police in our community, the survivor has every right, and the support of Occupy Baltimore, to report the abuse to the appropriate law enforcement.

Right before I left for class I caught a few minutes of that godawful flick Doomsday.  Remember, that's the one were Scotland gets cordoned off because of a disease and they become even more barbaric than they were before.  Let's just do that with the Occupy Wall Street camps. This is brilliant, really.
It's like a Disneyland for degenerates.

We need an "occupy" in every major city.
Just set up a tent city someplace so all the dips and freaks go.
We know where they are at all times. Getting high, screwing dogs, raping and being counseled. Just send news crews out occasionally and feed 'em from time to time so they vent and stay.

Tax dollars well used.

Infinite growth on a finite planet must end...
Submitted by Dreadker on Tue, 10/11/2011 - 9:04am

I am not struggling, in fact I would be considered as doing quite well in this current economic depression, but that does not change the fundamental fact that I am only doing well at this present time in history. I understand and sympathize with those that are struggling. Those that cannot find work or cannot afford housing or cannot even afford food. I know that some of you there today may even view me with some disdain because I am not strugglingÂ…

For those that know me well, they are not surprised by the store of food in our basement, the organically grown heirloom vegetables in my back yard, the SMART car I park alongside my co-workers BMWs and Porsches. The sound of Rage Against the Machine blaring from my stereoÂ…

I am apart from the system, yet part of it. I understand what is fundamentally wrong with it. I articulate this knowledge of wrongness the best I can. I wrote this sat in business attire, a wage slave to a mortgage that will cost me over $298k in interest payments alone, used to buy a house funded by un-backed capital which never actually legally existed due to the corrupt nature of the fractional reserve banking system...

Stay peaceful, be wary of provocateurs and stay strong. We are not alone and we will not be silenced.

When rich white kids have to interact with actual poor people!
I recall, back in the runup to the Liberation of Iraq, there were huge protests on the green in Hanover, NH (home of Dartmouth).  It was a pleasant autumn.  As things dragged on into the rainy November and December and then one of the coldest Januarys in decades (-20 degrees for days at a stretch) the number of protestors dwindled to about three miserable looking die-hards.  I wanted to spray them with ice cold water from a fire hose.

Along with that was a condom in 3 different sizes (as if Trojan was sponsoring the rape). And a small card with the words:
If you don't rape this girl, you will be entitled to a coupon for a free meal, redeemable at a participating McDonalds, courtesy of the Rape Prevention Committee.

The box that all this stuff came in had a few brief words on the side:
If you had just been raped: First give yourself a hug, you are now a survivor. Second, remember that it was the manifestation of a Capitalist system that raped you, not your peer. Lastly, you should come by the big blue tent, we have a wash area set up and people willing to listen.
