9 "We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and weÂ’ve done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them." The world has never seen a greater country. American exceptionalism is our currency. May our next president understand it.

And what does it get us?  Bumpkis.  I read an article about an interview with an Israeli General.  He said that the USA is the ONLY country (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Kicks a countries ass, then gives them their land back".
.
That goes over well in the movies, but is it any wonder we're not respected around the world?  We've PWND the Iraqi oil fields TWICE in the last 20 years and given them back TWICE.  And gas is over $3 per gallon.

14 With all of our bantering back and forth about our less-than-stellar choices for a presidential candidate, please remember one thing - Barack Obama is the one and only player in the game who doesn't believe that for one second, and never has. Very stupid.  Makes you wonder how she snagged her husband in the first place?  She must have been a looker 15-20 years ago.

I feel sorry for the husband and kids.  Especially the kids, you know how their classmates are going to react.

The dumber ones will be "Your mom took off to wallstreet? THAT IS SO COOL! Wish my mom would do that."  While the kid just thinks about how much they would rather have their pre-occupy life back.   Except maybe the 17 year old, he might try to leverage some nookie out of it.

news from MA:

Scott Brown is demanding (well, politely recommending) the firing of NOAA.

The head of NOAA, who I thought was a weather service for boats and planes, is killing the fishing industry (or fisheries, or whatever) in Massachusetts with silly enviro-centric-regulations.

Related: mentioned on Sean Hannity this week was the mayor of Rochester, MA, a coastal town, is not too happy with her president. Her town is dying because of Obama's regs.

50 Meanwhile, the Left is celebrating Obama's "ending of the Iraq War," even though in fact the war ended effectively with American victory due to George W.'s Surge. They don't dwell on the fact W. expected to pull out combat troops by the end of this year, to begin with. WHATEVER success Obama can claim in ANYTHING is effectively just the simple act of carrying through on W.'s policies. Of course, BEING Obama, he can't press Iraq to accept a status of forces agreement that would prevent American troops from being subject to amputations or lashings, so he bugs out altogether, leaving the place vulnerable to Iranian domination. Way to go, Barry! Nuance, Man... Nuance!!

Where's the Conservative Republican in the Debate?
by  Roger Hedgecock

"and withdraw overseas American troops.  The bloodbath that would follow is unimaginable."

The bloodbath that would follow?!

Think twice. The bloodbath of interventionism seen as the so-called Arab Spring. Where are the Middle Eastern minority populations? DEAD via genocide, and whoever survived being exiled with no place of refuge. Where is rule of law following the so-called Arab Spring bloodbaths?

Consider the bloodbath of interventionism in Iraq since the US invasion, only getting worse as Iraq orders US troops out, no thanks to Obama. Thank neoconservative politics via GWBush for that invasion, occupation, futile "nation building" another Islamic theocracy, and for signing the treaty arbitrary date of all US troops' withdrawal -- with no US benefits for all our sacrifice in lives, blood and taxes (not to mention whatever honor/reputation) --nothing to show for our sacrifices beyond losses in human rights. There are no oil contracts not to mention no permanent US Military Installation to thwart Iran's aggressions. Those were promised in the GWBush-Cheney-Rumsfeld initial propaganda preparating for his US Iraqi invasion. That entire episode has been a bloodbath. And Afghanistan as well, all US efforts and sacrifices to prop up the most corrupt and abusive of human rights government imaginable, and we know corruption all too well in Obama's administration.

American interventions in Muslim countries have worsened the plights of minority populations to the point of their genocide through newly US installed government bloodbaths.

It's so difficult to see, Not. Convoluted rationale does not make logic. If it matters, support the Constitution when you vote. America First '12.

I support the NRA, but when they robocall me with paranoid nonsense on the one morning I get to sleep in, it's not endearing.

Posted by: Billy Bob, the guy who drinks in SC

The ethnic Arabs of the Middle East represent a kind of "cargo cult" culture.  When they have enough oil money, they can import all the gadgets and trinkets of the technology developed in the West (or developed world, take your pick), but have little of nothing of their own to contribute. They originate nothing, and import the appearance of being of the same civilization as that of the West.

What you see is the veneer of "Western" sensibilities stripped away, and the true face of the tribal Middle - Easterner.  This is what they are - an  eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Me and my cousin against you, the outsider. Islam reinforces this culture, that's why it was created, because the ethnic Arab (for example, the heroic Prophet Mohammed)  was afraid that Christianity and Judaism would actually begin to civilize and change their culture. And it will remain the same until they throw off their medieval beliefs (or actually pre-medieval), or they sink into total chaos which they inflict on themselves.

No matter what seeps in from the outside, they remain what they are.  And those few that believe otherwise usually end up dead or emigrate to the "West", and get out of those crazy places, or become one of the ruling oligarch elites that actually run those hell-holes.

And thank you, too. ....I don't think it can be said enough, that conservative men are just hotter.

They are our husbands, our brothers, our fathers and our cousins....our neighbors and our guys down the street. The ones who turn off the lights at night and watch over us. ......They are the ones who do the right things when no one is watching. ....They are the ones who have the backbone to stand up for what is right, even when they know that they will have to take it on the chin for it.

They are our reluctant heroes.....who do it because there is no one else stepping up to do it, not because they want the accolades afterward.

To me.....this is sheer hotness.  So, I am just a gal who thinks that giving them their due, is long overdue. Which is why I will continue to proclaim what they themselves will not.....that conservative men are just hotter.

IRAN DEFEATS UNITED STATES - EXPELS US FROM IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

The Shiites in Iraq under Iranian "Fiery Cleric" Moqtadar al-Sadr have ousted the United States under the weak Marxist President Barry Obama.  As Obama has allowed Iran to kill US troops and create uprisings in all of the countries of so-called "Arab Spring" with impunity, the United States has fallen from the powerful position that it took decades and vast sums of Blood and Treasure to achieve.  From the First Impotent President Jimmy Carter, to the Great Coward Bill Clinton, (who was personally so frightened of Al Qaeda that he used every excuse to not kill him when given the chance multiple times) the US has still enjoyed a degree of power in the region and protected the Saudi Arabian oil suppy, thanks to the unstoppable efforts of the CIA and military - until now.  But The Great Destroyer has achieved with one stroke of the pen what decades of wars, assassinations, oil embargoes, multiple inflations, multiple recessions, and terrorism have failed to do: the total defeat of the United States in the battle to stabilize the Middle East, and the end of US power in the region.  Congratulations to the new rulers of the Middle East: IRAN.  The Iranians now seek to bring about the Final Nuclear Holocaust during which the Twelfth Imam from the 11th Century will reappear and destroy all Infidels.

In which dialect? I have heard heighth from time to time all my life. It is an older use, I believe - IIRC, if is in at least one old hymn.

89 That's for sure, except maybe for Ron Paul who is just bat shit crazy

He may be crazy, but he's our crazy.

And I have no doubt he loves America even if he's a little too isolationist for my taste.  He's certainly no America hating leftist scum.

92 re: Heighth (which I hear and say sometimes, but I've never seen spelled out) "until the end of the seventeenth century, highth or heighth were its standard spellings. The word was formed in Old English from high, plus -th, the exact analogue of width, breadth, and length. If word history were the only consideration, we all ought still to be using highth. The reason why we donÂ’t comes down to dialect pronunciation in parts of Northern England in Middle English times"

I'm on a campus a lot.

In Cambridge, MA. We don't have a lot of southerners here. But I heard "heighth" a lot when I lived in KY.

I also hear it a lot when politicians from the South are speaking.

tear, as in rip

In the south, this word is pronounced with two syllables. Tay-er.

But the rest of the country says it in one syllable. Yes, in the dictionary it has both pronunciations. But it's ragtime.

I'll bet I'm the only in MA who can say Louisville the right way. It took me two years, but I can do it.

Such mixed emotions...

I am glad our troops are coming home.. or at least going somewhere else...

But one of the most disheartening things you can do to a Soldier, or in my case Sailor, is to have them fight for a cause... win... and then due to politics, make the win meainingless.

I truly hope this is NOT the case in Iraq... and I really hope that someday the Kurds, who will soon get hammered from the Turks in the North, and not supported by the rest of the Sunnis and Shiite, will forgive us.

/SALUTE to the troops, you once more did what was required of you in an exemplary manner...
