— Ace Except those guilty of violent crimes.
I remember Schoolyard Rock telling me that the Congress was needed for such changes in the law. How they lied, and lied.
he Obama administration said Thursday it will allow many illegal immigrants facing deportation the chance to stay in this country and apply for a work permit, while focusing on removing from the U.S. convicted criminals and those who might be a national security or public safety threat. That will mean a case-by-case review of approximately 300,000 illegal immigrants facing possible deportation in federal immigration courts, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in announcing the policy change.

Nope. Before, I thought it was deeply important that Obama be voted out; that for the good of the country and history he must be repudiated by the voters. But I think he knows he's not going to be a two-termer, and he's doing all the damage he can in the meantime.

Disclosure: I live in Texas, and have voted for Perry 3 times. He's not perfect. There's things he's done that drive me nuts (Gardasil), etc.
But when you look at the entirety if Rick Perry's record, you find a Governor who was better for Texas than Bush was - and will probably be a better President than Bush (either of them) was.
At the end of the day, I'm supporting Rick Perry based on his record in Texas, and the fact that he's (overall) done a great job here. He's also not Mittens Romney.
So yeah - HELL YEAH even, for a Perry / Bachmann ticket next year.

Yes, of course. Because the JEF has always shown a tendency to be cowed by public opinion in the past.
Or maybe, we'd get the same result from the last time we tried impeachment, only this time the backlash against Republicans and the modicum of public sympathy generated for the president would be carrying into a presidential election year. And then the "IMPEACH!" crowd here would be complaining that the Republicans did it wrong.
By all means, let's all find a way to make amnesty by executive fiat the Republicans' fault. Maybe we can get Vic to write us up Evals on the alternate-universe House Managers, and Michelle Malkin to blog the play-by-play.

I was only pointing out a line of reasoning. The fact is that failing to punish (or worse: actively rewarding) bad behavior ensures further bad behavior. The GOP has never shown the gumption to slap down the President (rhetorically speaking) when he's done stupid crap like this in the past, so it's no wonder he thinks (probably correctly, grrr) he can get away with this.
Ultimate Blame? The SCOAMF, of course. But don't you think he might have at least thought twice about it if the Republicans in the House had actually shown some teeth (rhetorically speaking) after they took over there?

Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset…. Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia…. In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think…. The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. No, I don't. This is a president who has reveled in sticking his enemies (the American people) in the eye no matter how hard the wind of public opinion has blown in his face. We're not talking about a Bill Clinton here, a guy who could be steered by public and political pressure. Obama is just arrogant enough and just stupid enough to do what he's going to do, no matter what.
Since impeachment threats wouldn't deter him and impeachment articles wouldn't result in his removal from office, and recent history suggests there's no upside to the attempt, it's hard to blame Boehner for not pursuing a path that would lead to a dead-end.
Once again, we see that elections have consequences, and four years can be a very long time. I'm not going to lay at Boehner's feet the choice of 53% of the American voting public, who should have been able to see all of this coming three years ago.

Very true, very true. That lawsuit said, literally if not verbatum, that Arizona's state laws enforcing the actual federal law undermined the Obama administration's purposeful ignoring of that law.
This is merely an enactment of that line of thought that, as pop says, surely comes as no surprise.

Legal immigration doesn't really have a negative impact on the job situation: since they have to compete just like everyone else (meaning they have to be worth the same as everyone else). The problem with illegals is that they're often willing to accept $5.00/hr when minimum wage is $7.25, or willing to accept $8.00/hr for something where the going rate is closer to 10 or 11.
Legal immigrants don't really do that. And many, many legal immigrants quickly start their own businesses.

It still reads as opnion, not as a threat. "I wish you were dead," "I'd like to see you dead," and "I'd love it if you were dead" are not threats. "I'm going to kill you" is. Had he said something along the lines of he was going to do something to put him on a slab - then yeah, bad news.

Thank you, and I agree; in a country that functioned the way the Founders intended this son of a bitch would have been impeached and convicted several times over now for the things he's done. But there's a reason no attempt to impeach a president has ever been successful.
That's why I'd like to think enough of the American people would learn from the four years of Obama, that when we're faced with the quadrennial decision we'd better be DAMN sure we make the right one. Who knows, hopefully this fuckhole has been enough of a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure that the lesson will sink in for at least another generation.

This. A majority of times that the 112th Congress has rebuked the JEF, the JEF responded by showing that he'll cooperate according to the spirit of the law while giving Congress the middle finger. So Congress too often behaves as a doormat but a stronger rebuke would not prevent him from enacting certain policies by way of EO.

Governor Rick Perry, November 16, 2008 when Obama wanted amnesty (from Newsmax):
"I hope that there are 43 Republican Senators, and some thoughtful Democrats who realize that if you want to be an American citizen here's the way you do it... you need to get in line just like everyone else. Go get in that immigration line like everyone who came before you... Now do we want to have sensible immigration policies that allow people who want to come into our state and work... absolutely. Secure that border, have a sensible immigration policy, and if you want to be a citizen of the United States, there's the line... But to go give 13 million people a citizenship because you came here illegally is... is... Assanine!

But groups pushing for a crackdown on illegal immigration said the administrationÂ’s move abused the Constitution by usurping a power Congress should have.
“Supporters of comprehensive and targeted amnesties for illegal aliens have consistently failed to win approval by Congress or gain support from the American public,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform. “Having failed in the legislative process, the Obama administration has simply decided to usurp Congress’s constitutional authority and implement an amnesty program for millions of illegal aliens.”
Let's hope Dan Stein can move forward with constitutional action.Posted by: Aunty Entity at August 18, 2011 02:30 PM (FU3yL)

I think you need to reread what you wrote. Saying America was built by immigration (as we hear often, not that you said it) is romantic and all, and I'm glad my ancestors made it here, but it's abject nonsense to say the more competition helps--or even doesn't hurt--those already here. When the competition has an unfair advantage it hurts more, but that doesn't imply that competition on a level playing field has no effect.
Certainly business likes the increased competition for their jobs, for that means that any non minimum wage position will demand a lower wage or offer a wider applicant pool (supply and demand and all), but for those looking for jobs (between 1 in 10 and 1 in 20 as you know), that competition hurts.
Of course again, being jobless in America beats for the moment the average situation in many countries, but again, I was, rhetorically, working from the assumption that a government is designed to protect the interest of its citizens.

That position presumes that economics is a 0 sum game. More people = more demand for staple items (if nothing else) which increases economic output generally. Yes, it's a whole lot more complex than that, but, in general, legal immigration is actually good for the economy. Especially if we had (we don't) a sane immigration policy- like one that favors marketable skills over relationships.
Though perhaps I should have said "...doesn't have much of an impact" instead of "...doesn't really have an impact." That might have been better wording for what I'm trying to say.
Cutting off legal immigration, at any point, is really fairly silly- it's a "cut off your nose to spite your face" kind of thing.

So, after my cerebral blast of anger and awesome burst of housecleaning results from Dear Leader's destructive orders today, let me get this straight on little Barky's luxury vacation's brilliant and articulate solutions to the economy (as the DOW plummeted 400+ points today: perfect timing)....he is hiding in the Vineyard and will wait for the dust to settle on these grand plans of two executive orders, as he is too chicken to face the music over his actions:
1) President Obama issued an executive order today intended to coordinate a “government-wide initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the federal workforce.” In other words, he is increasing affirmative action for minorities which LBJ passed in the 60's, to appeal to his base for votes and improve the increasing unemployment for blacks under his reign of terror on America. So, qualified white males are screwed. I have to think any former Obama voter who wants a job and is white is mad.
2) His executive order today to stop deportation of illegal immigrants except criminals. There are loopholes, I have read (briefly) that if they can claim they are kin to a military family member, are in school, or "caring" for a family member: poof! You can stay and get a work permit and maybe even vote illegally for your king. I hope legal folks will view this as an impeachable offense. I do. He is unsurping federal law.
I hope and pray (and y'all, please pray for this country, and for God to protect our country against this man's actons or inaction) that this will spectacularly backfire. White people will not be happy, even Democrat ones who voted for his sorry self, as it takes jobs from them and increases burden on the economy. The blacks were/are mad about Hispanic illegals taking jobs from them. I will give you an example: a few years ago there was a major raid of a chicken plant in Mississippi with deportations. Blacks immediately lined up for their vacant jobs (whites, too, but the story was unemployed black legal citizens).
Pray, and fight with every breath you have to defeat this socialist in 2012. He does not care if he is re-elected or not, but he wants to take us all down with him. He. Does. Not. Care.
I will do all I can to elect the GOP nominee and get out of my way if you whine about your favorite not being that person. I also pray the nominee will blow this foul man out of DC and back to Chicago.

I think his "October 2012 Surprises" are getting used up in advance: killing OBL and now this action. In fifteen months it will only matter if enough ACORN votes can help the illegals. Meanwhile, I hope the GOP raises hell over this.
With Congress out on recess, how quickly will the GOP respond to this crime? There were a few GOP House Congressmen left in DC to prevent recess appointments by The One. Guess their presence can't stop executive flippin' orders, but someone needs to be making big waves about this and now.
