One Coin In The Fountain: Jonah Goldberg Breaks Establishment Embargo On WeinerGate
— Ace

Baby steps, baby steps.

Many people were off all weekend and aren't up to speed on this. We'll catch them up.

This is an especially propitious weekend to get "hacked," since it requires we keep the story percolating for a well-nigh eternal 72 hours, waiting for official DC to come back to work. Gee, those Hack3rz were all nice n' stuff yet again.

So it's no big deal if the establishment voices come late to the party; in fact, it probably works out better, as we'll need them to pick up the baton tomorrow through Tuesday.

That was my first thought as well.  Good writers know how to successfully get a message out while simultaneously affecting another person's voice (see, for example, Average Joe's various punkings of Ace in recent days).  Cordova's statement reeks of having been written either by a Weiner staffer (or quite possibly Weiner himself -- he's exactly the sort of guy who would refuse to outsource such a thing, and while he may lack judgment he is a very, very smart dude).

27 See, the thing about the congressman's name is that it would not be pronouced wee-ner in the german (or even vee-ner),  it would be pronounced vi-ner or sounding more like viner  in english, winer.  Not weener.  Where you have to vowels back to back, the second one is pronounced "long".  So wiener is a person from wien (vienna), like a frankfurter is a person from frankfurt and a hamburger is a person from hamburg.  But a weiner is pronounce winer or wine-er in english, or should be, anyway.

So he is more of a whiner than a wiener.

JPod thinks that if you're not published in his magazine, then you're worthless. The aim here is to figure out if you, yourself, have published JPod.

I'm guessing the answer to that is "no".

Ace,

This needs to be carried through until tuesday when the MSM shows up to work promptly at Noon.

Weiner is an up and comer in the Dem party. Not only is this story big, if true, but it could easily derail his bid to become Mayor of NYC, possible result in his resignation, or at the very least insure that he never moves above his current station in the house.

Also, divorce, mockery, and all that other fun stuff.

Stick with it.  And could you get John "The White Knight" Podoretz's permission to post your email exhange with him. I want to see what that cock blaster said.

What they're trying to do is go after Weiner's Twitter "stalker".

They're hoping he's an unsavory character and hope to turn the tables on him.

Since this dam is going to burst anyway, look for the media to start airing "cyberstalker" stories.

They won't even try the prosecution route, what they'll attempt to do is make it a story about some guy watching Congressmen's Twitter feeds (quelle horreur!).

Shouldn't a Congressman married less than two years have the right to send pictures of his junk to a 21-year-old 3000 miles away in peace?

What's next? Somebody will complain about presidents who get hummers from interns in the Oval Office?

Remember, because they're L337 haxx3r5. That would've made the hacking too obvious. They know exactly how far to push the envelope without going too far. An uncovered, 9" schlong would've obviously been fake, and just a bulge under trousers would've been too benign (except for David Brooks). They hit the perfect middle... because they're L337.

I think this is what happened. Tony the Dick found himself with a groupie, this Comely Coed with the massive mammaries, and he started a little "DM" exchange with her the night in question. She probably sent him some provacative pictures of herself, maybe showing him her assets. And then he responds with a little picture showing what effect her pictures had on him.

I'll bet you they had a little "DM" dialogue like that going and Tony the Dick manages to fat finger it public, rather than private.

One would like to think Congresscritters have more than sense than this, but the evidence is overwhelmingly to the contrary. Tony was thinking with his little head, not the big one, although both are weiners.

73 And about "weiners". There are two German words actually. Weiner and Wiener. The latter is how the hot dog sausage is spelled, and does mean "one from Vienna". Weiner, which is how Tony the Dick spells it, is something else, meaning "wheelwright" (one who works on wagon wheels) and is related to "Wagner".

Posted by: publius(NotBreitbartPublius) at May 29, 2011 07:07 PM (VVB18)

74 Jonah has one aspect wrong, it wasn't a direct message, it was a public message.  More specifically it was a reply message (public), not a direct message (private).  Weiner probably intended it to be private, but fucked it up and revealed that he was sending co-eds photos of his bulging BVDs.

124 yes, "Wien" is Vienna in Austrian;  'wein' is wine in Austrian, but I think the Germans somehow use the same terms.

There are hundreds of varieties of sausages in Germany, and every region has its own specialties.  Usually you get a sausage and a roll with a big sploosh of mustard.  Good mustard.....

Germans don't use the term 'hamburger' but call it a burger in American-style fast food places / restaurants.

The mistake JFK made was in not saying,  "Ich bin Berlinner" ; instead he said, "Ich bin EIN Berlinner, which means, in slang, "I'm a local pastry / doughnut

That's not Weiner's MO. He's a camera whore, a grandstander, and someone who hates "teabaggers" and isn't shy about saying so. if he were hacked, the odds are high it was a "teabagger," and yet he's curiously forgiving about it, and wants the whole misundertanding to pass without notice. Fellows, don't at least some of you think this is all beginning to sound just a wee bit like those folks who think the CIA killed Kennedy and that Bush brought down the towers?>>>>>>>

No, what it sounds like is a Congressman sent a lewd pic to a college chick, screwed up the delivery of the pic, got caught, and then claimed his account was hacked to cover his ass.  If his account was hacked, the FBI would need about an hour (including a coffee break) to find out who did it.  Hacking anything belonging to a member of Congress is serious stuff.  I do believe it's a felony.  But, no one got hacked.  Weiner made a mistake, he got caught, and he should own up to it.  Instead, he lied, and he and this chick are blaming 'enemies'.  And, trolling AOSHQ and making light of it isn't going to change anyone's mind.

No, it's simply a case of askng questions ... so, why isn't Congressman Tony "THE GENTLEMAN WILL SIT DOWN!!!!!" Weiner screaming blue murder about being hacked? And in a way that could end his political career?

Weiner seems like someone who defends his rights zealously ... but not this time ... why?

Tony seems real uninterested in getting the FBI involved in a hacking incident ... n incident that, on the face of it, is at least as bad as someone posing as a telephone repairman ......

Perhaps V, you have Weiner's explanation?

210 Just keep Ockam's Razor away from Ockam's Penis. I've applied Occam's Rubber to this situation. The principle is often inaccurately summarized as "the simplest penis is most likely the correct one." This summary is misleading, however, since the principle is actually focused on shifting the burden of penis in discussions. That is, the rubber is a prophylactic that suggests we should tend towards simpler theories until we can trade some simplicity for an increased explanatory penis.

This thing has some deep DNC eyes looking at it. They have a whole squadron of legal folks shoring this up and getting "just the right spin" on it to prevent big mo. I'm talking folks like Richard Ben-veniste level players.

Ace. Keep this in motion. They're trying to close down momentum by bringing in the "right wing" meme that there was a certain conservative individual who had, "seen this coming" and that this and possibly "other" individuals harassed the poor co-ed on previous occassions.

This is a red herring as it speaks nothing of the tweet emanating from Rep. Weiner's account and the seamless timeline and the fact the co-ed had referenced Rep. Weiner and they were both DM capable on Twitter.

The most salient question is this: "Rep. Weiner do you affirmatively deny transmitting the subject photo on Twitter."  "Rep. Weiner, have you ever sent the subject co-ed a direct message on twitter? And if so, how many and why?"

Ace, don't let this thing go.

Weiner isn't going to resign over this, and the House will stonewall any inquiry forever.  No chance he's quitting.  I believe he wants to be the next Mayor of NYC, and that ain't gonna happen if he resigns from Congress because he admits to sending dic-pics to Chesty McCo-Ed in Seattle.  He's staying.  Unless the hacking thing is investigated.  That's a serious charge which, so far, he's not pursuing.  That's like saying 'someone broke into my house and beat and robbed me', and then not calling the cops.  Weird.

I completely agree with you. My point was more about who gets to decide these things. As I said above, if Rangel and Frank are still members of the House, Weiner isn't going anywhere. He's seemingly valuable to the Democrats and having him resign right now changes the conversation from Mediscare. The Dems don't want this distraction, so they'll react like they normally do and make excuses while stating that we need to talk about the "real issues".

When I checked one of the posts I had been tagged in I saw that it was a picture that had supposedly been tweeted to me by Congressman Anthony Weiner. The account that these tweets were sent from was familiar to me; this person had harassed me many times after the Congressman followed me on Twitter a month ago. Since I had dealt with this person and his cohorts before I assumed that the tweet and the picture were their latest attempts at defaming the Congressman and harassing his supporters.

I began taking steps to remove as much personal information from the Internet as possible. Not because I "was exposed as Weiner's mistress." I removed my information because I do not enjoy being harassed or being the reason that my loved ones are targets of harassment. I have never met Congressman Weiner, though I am a fan. I tweeted once that "I wonder what my boyfriend @RepWeiner is up to." I am not his girlfriend. Nor am I the wife, girlfriend or mistress of Barack Obama, Ray Allen or Cristiano Ronaldo, despite the fact that I have made similar assertions about them via Twitter."

336 Brian dear, you are a few hours and about 1,000 comments behind.

And nobody claimed she was a mistress, just that Anthony's twitter account delivered a picture to her account.  That's it.

337 Stuiec, that would be fun.  Need lots of popcorn as the libel trail goes into Discovery mode.  Then the trial itself, even more popcorn.  Assuming the libs dont settle out of court after Discovery.

Weiner used the handle "Rep." and used a Blackberry procured by Uncle Sam with public funds. This has to be investigated.

Posted by: journolist at May 29, 2011 09:39 PM (QM8jX)

339 Weiner won't get the full ire of the House over one picture. Did anyone mention yet his wife's middle name is Lorena? Actually, I'm more worried for Rep. Weiner due to what family honor may have been violated when he sent the shot of camel under tent to busty coed. I believe she has brothers. Large, hairy ones who take family and honor quite seriously... and personally.

340 Ha, I see that now.  My bad for napping.

I still think caution is best here.  The blowback will be harsh if Weiner is being set up.

Oh well it's over then. Thanks for clearing that up Brian. Except that the pic wasn't supposedley sent to this chick it was sent to her. That Weiner following this chick on twitter is absolutely easy to understand as well. I mean hey he followed 90 other people. Why not someone he had never talked to that lives 3,000 miles away? Makes sense, he follows her because she is a light worker, like Obama . All of that energy trapped in Bellingham, WA waiting to save the fucking world.

344 What do they want investigated?  Please share, I can't bear the thought of going to that site...... Posted by: joejm65 at May 30, 2011 01:25 AM

As a few noted, liberals want the FBI to eyeball Breitbart. A full-on subpoena of all the relevant hard drives and twitter and yfrog records. Failing that, they want Weiner to sue Breitbart for libel. Incidentally, they also think Shirley Sherrod is suing him, but at best she'll wind up apologizing to Breitbart and turning her ire on Glenn Beck. Their anger at Breitbart is so great now, I don't see how Weiner ignore the torch-carrying mob outside his castle gates without putting himself in a bad spot.

Let them learn well the saying, "Be careful what you wish for."

336The girl gave an interview to her school newspaper. I'm really thinking this was a hack and we've been had.

Oh, please.  That interview shows she's 1). lying, or 2). a complete idiot.  She was harassed on twitter 'many times'?  She's a dope.  Use the block feature after the first incident, then the harassing stops.  Same with Facebook.  In fact, Facebook profiles can be (and usually are) private to everyone except friends.  So, a harasser wouldn't know who her friends are because they can't access her page to find out who they are, because it's private.  Finally, if this was a hack, great!  Weiner should involve the FBI ASAP and have them find out who hacked the twitter and Facebook account of a U.S. Congressman.  We'd all love to know the answer. Ace has been working on that for 24 hours.  We've only been had if the hacker story stays but no investigation is made.

347 #342 Blowback on what?  A couple of bloggers?  It's not like the entire GOP is all over the cable channels with this or anything.  It's a minor imbroglio and the only likely consequences would be damage to Herr Wiener's candidacy for New York Mayor.

Yeah. Someone who referred to him as her "boyfriend". Probably more in a fantasy-world type of way, but still, she's not going to sell him out until she has at least secured an agent and a reality show deal.

Posted by: Clueless at May 29, 2011 09:45 PM (piMMO)

349 "Nor am I the wife, girlfriend or mistress of Barack Obama, Ray Allen or Cristiano Ronaldo, despite the fact that I have made similar assertions about them" It's actually quite funny that she mentioned Ray Allen of Celtics in her parsed out "defense statement". Mr. Allen actually has found himself in same situation as Rep Weiner when sending a private twitter thing to all of his "followers", in error. A rather embarrassing one at that: http://entertainmentrundown.com/22725/when-tweeting-goes-wrong-ray-allen/

350 It's a minor imbroglio and the only likely consequences would be damage to Herr Wiener's candidacy for New York Mayor. True and a good enough reason to pursue it. Remember, political enemies are enemies nonetheless, and their side would not hesitate to exploit a similar pervy incident against us, even for sport if nothing else. Alinsky works both ways!

That is correct. That is what I said. Weiner claims it was his Facebook account that was hacked, but the account in question is his Twitter account. He is trying to use the Facebook warning he received to cover his ass on the Twitter pic.

374 Scenarios: 1. aging baller lets out his weiner for some PRIVATE fresh air, aiming to add number to career completion totals, instead gets intercepted; 2. GOP congressional rookie gets swelled chest and gives into urge to twalk a little on the PRIVATE wild side, aiming to show contrast between facial establishment look and the edificial look down below, instead gets outed; and 3. an Oscar classic revival, but with an added whiff of jail-baitery to the standard pervy wanker presumption, but, in sharp contrast with the above, the offending item appearing on his PUBLIC account. Responses: 1. bobs & weaves & merely implies questions concerning whether said appendage was as intended or if maybe there was an interception in the mix - all without actually denying having longtime connection with said porking product; 2. beats extra-hasty retreat from fulfilling a barely-commenced elective responsibility, throwing crisp but vaguely-worded very-general apologies in his wake - but at no time actually raising even the merest hint of the most fanciful possible question about the authenticity of the picture in question nor the intent underlying its sending; and 3. standing ground - and, in distinct and existential contrast with the aforementioned responses to the aforementioned intrusions into the public consciousness, with quick sharp full denial, no waffling, no resignation, and not the least hint of either to come. Status of each: 1. already rode hard into the favre, favre distant sunset; 2. gone to ground so deep, who the frack nows where; and 3. public left to guess entirely between pervy wanker and victim of a not-all-that imaginative crank-prank de les times. Prediction time: 1. no more national ad campaigns, nor any meat products, nor food of any sort, nor booth appearances side-kicking for color on any given NFL Sunday, or Monday (or Thursday even); 2. quiet obscurity, or supporting roles in porn flicks targeting the octogenarian set in the Villages of Florida; and 3. another (shocker alert Breitbart Production parsing job on the line between U and V: urinalism and vandalism. Chances of a future in public life: 1. (from) slim; 2. none; and 3. same as it ever was: yer next mayor of NYC, then maybe a nibble at first Jewish president (or not, if Cantor gets there first).

377 Weiner is probably not going to really recover from this, (though nobody will believe me now - with most people o sense pointing out that NY voters don't care, not about the pic, the tweet, or the lying) That's not because a man can never recover from a scandal involving sexual affairs or indiscretions or broken marriage (though many don't). It's because of the particular nature of this offense and what it predicts he will be like in the future. His habits are indiscreet and pervy and he is a man with a lot to lose. This means there is pathology, not normal male energy at work. He will not only keep doing this sort of thing, it will get worse over time. Other's have a lot to lose through his losing and will cover for him for now but the truth is he is marked as "outed" as a risky commodity and not worth heavy investment. He will be a punchline for awhile - that's the least of it. People now know there is something wrong with him. It doesn't help that the DSK-geist has scared and shocked people into questioning the excuses they make for ridiculous men who have desperately puerile sexual habits.
