I want his likeability down at that number, and the job number another ten points down.

We just may get there, in which case we can run someone against him like Kinky Friedman, and win.

Yesterday's (Fri. Sept. 23) White Sox game on the radio:

A Sox batter weakly grounds to KC pitcher Bruce Chen who is a soft-tossing lefty. Sox play-by-play man, Ed Farmer, calls it like this:

"Soft grounder to Chen - he throws over to first base, Obama like, to get the third out."

I could not believe what I heard.

It's set in Ireland and Don Cheadle is in it. He's an FBI agent on the hunt for a drug ring. This movie is funny funny funny. You'll love Cheadle's Irish counterpart and he'll have you in stitches.

Cheadle is great, as usual. He plays a great straight man. See this movie and I guarantee you will like it within the first 5 minutes.

The ones on DISH are recently released DVD/BluRay movies.

I was just looking at Netflix streaming accounts and they are advertising them at $7.99/month. I'll bet there are some "fees" added to that but that looks ok.

Also, their FAQ page says that they recommend a bandwidth of 0.5 mbs. Someone said a few days ago that you need at least 10 mbs for it to work right w/o lockups so I wonder about that.

59 In 2003, Perry sponsored a controversial state constitutional amendment to cap medical malpractice awards,[35] which was narrowly approved by voters. According to a tort reform advocate, this legislation has resulted in a 21.3 percent decrease in malpractice insurance rates. According to the Texas Medical Board, there has also been a significant increase in the number of doctors seeking to practice in the state.

65 Vic, if you want to rent new releases, Netflix might not work because they were so successful that the studios now only allow them to run them 28 days after PPV, but for me it's not problems because I've never needed to see any movie on any given day. Their streaming library isn't as big as their DVD library but it works very well for me.

If you're interested in their DVD service, I subscribed to that from the time Netflix opened up until just last year and couldn't have been more pleased with it. The turn around time is really, really quick.

104 Boy is this a real heartbreaker:

Because of the Solyndra bankruptcy, additional documentation and reviews were required that we couldn’t get done in the next five days,” SolarCity Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Rive said in an interview yesterday. “Everyone has been very supportive of this project and if we had a little more time we could get it done.”

The Energy Department “will be unable to finalize their approval” for the loan guarantee before a Sept. 30 deadline, the company said yesterday in a letter to Representative Fred Upton, a Michigan Republican and the chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

This is that $275 million gubmint loan to sell solar panels to the DoD in a circle jerk 'fuck the taxpayers twice' deal. So now they will have to bribe lobby Congress again to get R done.

111 Re Solyndra.

My first comment regarding the subject was to ask just how it was that Obama DOJ was cleared to raid Solyndra. How did that come about? How did that get past Holder?

I still haven't received an answer to that question.

And, if Obama and Holder knew about the raid and didn't stop it, then I'm really concerned about what we don't know....and never will. I mean, if they are willing to take it on the chin with what we do know, what is it that they're hiding?

116 No charter schools just give us more cash cuz it's all about the children.  sickening

Stossel just showed the difference that charter schools have made in Harlem and Oakland. The charter schools, in each case, make do with less money, yet the passing rate for tests is 100% at the charter schools and 46% or so for non-charter schools. AND...the kids love the schools although the days are longer. Parents line up for blocks to try and win a lottery to get their kids in. Most parents, given the choice, want their kids to have a better opportunity.

I think this dedication explains a little about why kids in charter schools perform so well; it takes parental involvement for children to do well in school, and a parent willing to wait hours to get their child in a certain school is also more apt to help with homework, work with the teacher with regards to any behavioral problems the child might have, etc.

125 No Thanking the Gay Soldier in Iraq for His Service? I saw this on the side bar and I must say it did not occur to me while I was watching the debate. They generally trip over each other anytime anyone mentions they are or have been in the service. I think the reason why was the whiney accusatory way the soldier in question asked his question. It's hard to imagine your military heros as public whiners. Although I will say that while in the military, the whiner count was equal to that of the civilians, but not publicly.

My first comment regarding the subject was to ask just how it was that Obama DOJ was cleared to raid Solyndra. How did that come about? How did that get past Holder?

Two possibilities are fighting in my mind:

1. Solyndra soaked the government, and the reason it took so long for people in government to see that they were suckers was wishful thinking at the top. In other words, Obama & Co. were so infatuated with what Solyndra was promising that they overlooked some serious flaws. When reality caught up to them, they acted accordingly, doing so in a way that tries to make Obama look not as bad.

2. The Obama Administration double-crossed Solyndra. They've done it before, with the workers at AIG. Best friends forever and ever, or until there's something to be gained by hanging you out to dry; whichever comes first.

My guess is (1) but I could be wrong. Either way, I could see DoJ getting fully involved.

I've always thought it's at least useful (but not necessarily predictive) to see who a candidate surrounds themselves with and hires.

201 china rebuffs europe for bailouts

wsj

WASHINGTON—China to Europe: Don't expect a bailout from us.

That was the message delivered by a number of Chinese officials during meetings at the International Monetary Fund, where China was widely seen as an answer to the euro zone's problems, either as a purchaser of European debt or as a country that could further goose its economic growth rate.

"We can't just go save someone," said Gao Xiqing, president of China Investment Corp., China's huge sovereign wealth fund. "We're not saviors. We have to save ourselves," he said at a weekend panel discussion

“I was saying to Mark that I wish I had time to just roam around because this is as beautiful a collection as I’ve ever seen. I want to thank Mark . . .” Obama said. A couple of guests said “Jon,” and the president quickly corrected himself.

299 301 Kratos , she used to have such a beautiful boice.

I don't dispute that.

Success can test one's character as much as the most powerful-est of foes.

302 Hey dickface I just said Houstons airport was called Intercontinental. I live in Houston. Is it a requirement for people to be douchenozzles on this site?

304 312 Getting hooked up with snow blower Bobby Brown didn't help either.

I used to have respect for Jon Shirley. Not so much anymore. Hope he realizes now what a douchebag he is raising money for.

307 I'd give Obama a pass on intercontinental if they and Him himself  didn't constantly berate us for being idiots and  knuckledraggers.

308 Paranoid i feel that everytime i see another star come out and lick Obama's boot.

309 #314: Ol' Tom sure didn't disappoint me. Despite throwing four interceptions and posting a loss, he still managed to score me 25 points in my fantasy foobmall league. Also, his efforts resulted in two of my other players (Rob Gronkowski and Wes Welker) scoring 27 and 43 points. I got ninety-five points on the back of Tom Brady today! Yay, Tom!

310 Hey, the Colts scored!  Defensive TD.

311 okay, cooking update:
I added the water, but I also added about a half-can of parmesan cheese (the only cheese I had available).  It actually turned out okay, surprisingly enough.  Of course it was one of those soup can label recipes so they are already pretty idiot proof.

Oh, it's like a mushroom soup based recipe?

Wine would've worked too then! (Dry white wine or vermouth)

313 Another pick by Roethlisberger.

314 Another pick?  Or they're saying the first one.  I wonder what the otehr turnover was.

Posted by: Y-not at September 25, 2011 05:44 PM (5H6zj)

315 I guess the ohter was a Big Ben fumble

Posted by: Y-not at September 25, 2011 05:45 PM (5H6zj)

316 I meant another turnover, a pick by BR, who can't hit my WR.

317 It just struck me.  Mitt Romney reminds me of Jeff George.  He's supposed to be really great and looks the part, but always disappoints.  But you keep trying him thinking he'll be as good as his reputation.

318 ONT up!

Posted by: Y-not at September 25, 2011 05:48 PM (5H6zj)

319 Oh, and Morgan Freeman should give up on social commentary and stick to things he knows, like diddling your granddaughters. Apparently, he's pretty good at that.

320 Hi. This is Mr. Brady but most of my friends call me Tom. In sincere remorse for my loss today to the Buffalo Bills, I will be giving free blowjobs at my home. Anyone who is a fan of mine, who I have disappointed today with my poor performance, I promise to make it up to you by giving you the best Blowjob you EVER had. I met with Mr. Belechek right after the game today and gave him his and now he wants me to do the fans that I sooo disappointed today. Mr Belechek says its the ONLY way to put myself in his good graces. Just line up on the right side of my doorway and come in one at a time. And PLEASE No Cameras. Thank You Fans.

Will Mrs. Brady be participating?
