Yeah, yeah. It's time for the ONT. You guys better get the comments to 666 or the Ewok God of War just might have to show up.

I used to love going to movies a lot as a teenager and in my 20's but since I have become more politically aware, not so much any more. This article captured some of what I had been thinking about in this regard. Democrats vs. Republicans: Stars They Won't Pay To See. I admit it. I won't pay to go see Sean Penn, Micheal Moore, Tim Robbins, or any other raging, foaming out the mouth stupid ass libtard that is highly active in the political sphere. I remember before I started getting like this that my father-in-law was the same way and I remember thinking but he's missing some good movies. Now I understand.
In fact, overall, 35 percent of Republicans and 45 percent of Tea Partiers consider a celebrity's political position before paying to see their films, compared with 20 percent of Democrats.
You have to admit, that it is pretty stupid to piss off this large of a percentage of your potential audience. Most good companies that are successful are careful not to show party preference. I suppose the fact that these actors/musicians get paid up front regardless of ticket sales gives them some leeway to be more vocal politically and not fear the loss of ticket sales. I was surprised to find out that Sean Penn has NEVER had a movie gross more than $100 Million.
So are there conservative actors? Here's a list that I found that was published last year. In The Reagan Mold: 10 Conservative Men In Hollywood. I do believe the actor listed at #6 needs to be dropped big time.

I don't think you want to get stuck drivin' behind this thing. Seems the Japanese have got a working motorbike that is powered by, well, um, your excrement. Poop Powered Toiletcycle Is Touring Japan. And liberals think CO2 emissions are bad.
The Toilet Bike Neo will be conducting its roughly 500 mile trip from Kyushu to Tokyo powered entirely by the on-board biogas digester. Biogas systems use an anaerobic bacteria system to convert dead organic matter into a usable fuel primarily made of methane. This system obtains its fuel from the rider—directly from the rider, if you get what I mean. It runs on the rider's poop—he just sits there, unloads, and rides off (hopefully with a step involving pants at some point as well). The system is reportedly efficient enough that it could run indefinitely were the rider sufficiently well fed.

Here is a list with pics of some Rare Cats.

America was a little different. Huey Long got compared to Louis XIV, given that his state was still New France in many ways. Elsewhere in the US, there was Andrew Jackson who got caricatured as "King Andrew I" in an apparent British Monarchy ref.

I think the issue with this number is that Democrats assume that most of Hollywood is liberal so they don't need to "consider" their political positions. They'd be raising a major stink if it were reversed.

Matt Damon is a libtard, but I still enjoy his work. I never saw the Bourne movies, except in clips that convinced me they weren't worth it, but I would. And he endeared himself with the parody stuff on Letterman.
If you entertain me, I'll pay. But there's a political line you can cross where somehow you just don't entertain me anymore. Morgan Freeman may have crossed it by messing up his "wise old head" persona.

SF and the Bay Area is its own little empire of totally socialistic bullshit. The Pacific NW is all muslim. The Bible Belt is, well, the Bible Belt. And on and on.
Which gets me to thinking. Do you think things could become so bad, politically, so polarized, that states could secede? Or that they would?
Hell, I live in NY, but not the city, and would be glad to travel to, say, Wyoming, if things shook apart.
Look at the NE. Don't you think that ME, MA, CT, NY, and NJ would be happy all on its own, as a nice little socialist republic? Likewise for CA, OR, and WA?
I'm envisioning a pretty loud bunch of constant screaming, ranting, railing, and gnashing of teeth, on the part of the left, after January 20, 2013. The "Occupy" drum circles will be everywhere. Everywhere. It won't stop.
Whoever beats Obama and enters the White House will be declared impeachable by the left, the moment the term begins. It will get nasty, and violent.
What to do? What to do?

I think we'd have to look closely at the demographics within the states themselves. How many are blue throughout, and how many are blue cities in oceans of red? Because a city can't secede on its own and survive. Even if they could compel the state to follow, there's nothing to prevent the red population from picking up and leaving.

Were you not there or something? OK, I'll assume you're young.
The first key point is that Clinton was not a progressive. Yeah, he was a Democrat, and liberalish, and his wife was a progressive, but at that point, the progressives had not yet taken over the Democratic party. Clinton was always about winning, and like Tony Blair at the same time in England, he correctly concluded that the way to beat the Republicans was to co-opt their best issues. That's why he campaigned on "ending welfare as we know it," and actually followed through once forced to by the Republican congress he acquired. Imagine Obama doing that.
Clinton also worked hard for free trade. He was a Democrat, sure, and I was seriously annoyed with him at the time, but compared to Obama, he was like a cool breeze. Since the Clinton era, the Progressives have taken over the Democratic party, and we are now fighting the Individualism/Freedom vs. Socialism/Communism battle all over again. The shit became real. We are in a fight for our lives now. The socialists ran out of money, and the fight is over what our future looks like, in the face of that.

Yeah, as a teen I was at the movies every weekend, but now, I've been to a theater maybe 4 times this year. Mostly netflix stuff now. Can't say that I've gotten to the point where I avoid specific individuals no matter the project, but if the movie topic is iffy such as "Avatar" then it won't seen at the theater. Can't stand Tim Robbins or John Cusak's politics, but they have been in a number of films I've really enjoyed- "Tapeheads" starring both and "Better off Dead" with Cusak. As for Penn, I can only think of two movies he's done that are worth watching- "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and "Carlito's Way". Neither of which have him as the reason to watch the film.

It's the cheap shots that kill a movie for me. An out-of-the blue political reference completely blows away any suspension of disbelief or immersion in the plot. Especially when it's a historical drama or science fiction. They might as well pan away from the actors and show the crew and makeup people standing around the soundstage holding "VOTE OBAMA" signs.
And the worst of it, is that liberal filmgoers should be just as irritated as I am. I'd be pissed off if Luke Skywalker had turned to Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi and said "You're completely cold and emotionless, like Walter Mondale," even though I agree with the sentiment. It doesn't belong, and it shows contempt for the audience and the subject matter.
But ignorance and contempt is how liberals roll, I guess.

On Saturday, Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 131, the second bill of the two-part California Dream Act, allowing undocumented immigrant students to apply for state-funded financial aid for college.
"Going to college is a dream that promises intellectual excitement and creative thinking," said Brown in a press release. "The Dream Act benefits us all by giving top students a chance to improve their lives and the lives of all of us."According to the California Department of Finance, about 2,500 students with
qualify for Cal Grants as a result of the bill, at a cost of $14.5 million. This
amount will make up 1 percent of the annual $1.4 billion budget of the Cal Grant
program.

It's the cheap shots that kill a movie for me.
Sure, yes, I completely agree about the cheap shots thing (and have expressed something similar in the Sunday Book Thread), but for a guy whose posts I've admired for their consistently thoughtful and deep content, I think you've indulged in some strawmanning here. Granted, you, I, or any of us see a movie advertised that contains any two actors from your list, and we know to stay as far away from it as we would from Chernobyl. And Rosanne Barr is some sort of strange mutant these days. But let's take something more isolated. There's a movie. Matt Damon is in it. It looks good otherwise. Would you reflexively boycott it?
I hasten to add, because I've had two ostensibly pro-Matt-Damon posts in this thread, that I hold no brief for the guy. He's a serviceable actor in my view, maybe a little better because of a nice sincerity he projects on screen, but no more. I hated Contagion, because it sucked, though I'll admit he was the best part of it, which is not saying much.

Then they get older, start a family, can't go out as often because they need a sitter, etc. They also learn a few things about the world and their voting shifts to the right. Result: Republicans watch movies on DVD, Democrats go to first runs.
Also: when you're older, going to a movie is more of an investment. It's not a casual "Hey, wanna go see a flick?" to your friends. It means lining up a sitter, making sure neither spouse has stuff they have to do, etc. So you're going to make damn sure that movie's not going to have some motherfucking sucker punch that'll spoil your enjoyment. Result: Republicans care more about actor politics than Democrats.

Yeah. One does gain an ability to overlook a certain amount of that stuff. One of my favorite laugh-out-loud comedies opens with an entirely gratuitous swipe at Bush the Elder. But then it's on to the movie and it's so damn funny that I forget.
The movie is Fear of a Black Hat. Definitely NSFW, but if that's OK with you, it's a gem. Sort of the rap version of Spinal Tap, but IMO much funnier. My favorite moment involves a very well-timed camera switch, and start with the line "good, red-boned, Marini (sp?)-colored Genie..."

Well, that's a useful response, and I agree wholeheartedly about checking reviews before seeing any Matt Damon movie. But it makes me wonder how much you deeply love movies, if you're not clearly differentiating among those three. I mean, I thought Brad Pitt was both awesome and distinctive in Twelve Monkeys, enough so that I'd not confuse him with anyone else after that, and have a respect for his talent that goes way beyond the other two. Mark Walhberg, I regard as an utter mediocrity. Matt Damon is not in Brad Pitt's weight class, but I've enjoyed him on Letterman, and I enjoyed him in Dogma, despite my occasionally cringing at the more lazily reflexive anti-Catholic parts (such as when Chris Rock casually tosses in the idea that Jesus was black "of course"), though ultimately I saw that as an affectionate "troubled Catholic" movie. I think Damon's got some skills that can make him worth seeing. I think Pitt is a real world-class actor, which is not to say that every movie makes that apparent.

It's true though. Dude is a good actor. Blood Diamond, The Departed, Catch Me if You Can, Gangs Of New York to name a few. He's good.
OK. Would you pick one of those for me to see? I saw DeCaprio in Shutter Island and thought he seemed completely not-believable, baby faced supposed cop and the rest, not buying it, never believed him in the role. I concede that the wife loved it. I want to give him another shot. Which movie? Please don't mention Titanic.

W40K - Space Marine is going to be my first acquisition once I start playing video games again in earnest.
It is a good solid walk through the Warhammer 40K world. Not perfect, but the art and the action is spot on.
The multiplayer is very limited, and it seems like there are some hacks and exploits, but it is pretty damn fun.

That, by the way (speaking of biblical imagery), is exactly how Jesus himself is portrayed in Michelangelo's famous painting of the Final Judgment --no anger, no disgust, just handing out to the damned and saints alike the fates they fully chose for themselves long beforehand.

The latter was an epic film which was damaged by Jack Nicholson's weak performance. Decaprio, Damon (yeah him), Wahlberg brought their A game. I though Leo was rock solid and believable in that one.

Honestly, that was my opinion about the show as well. It showed a bunch crass stuff, but what people who attacked the show ignored was that it made fun of all that. For instance, sure, the daughter slept around a lot...and she was the butt of jokes constantly for it.
As far as Ed O'Neill, I remember him signing onto list of actors who were against the Iraq War early on, so I wouldn't count on him being too conservative.
I was also about to call bullshit on Michael Caine, but after doing some digging, I was surprised to find there's something to that (at least from a fiscal standpoint).

If you've never seen it, add Cape Fear to that list as well. Hell, add both Cape Fears; the original with Peck and Mitchum, and the remake with DeNiro and Nolte. Each is outstanding although my personal preference is for the original.
I cannot begin to imagine the scandal it must have caused when released. It is very in your face wth the threat of violence without actually seeing violence...dark...very dark. And Mitchum is terrifying.
The remake shows more of the violence but is not gory by any means. DeNiro is despicable and, frankly, the hero, Nolte, doesn't come off much better. The best performance in the movie goes to someone you probably wouldn't expect, but Juliette Lewis was unbelievably good in her role.

R. Lee Ermey is No Fan of Obama
R. Lee Ermey, who is probably most known for his performance as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in the movie Full Metal Jacket, spoke recently to promote Toys for Tots and had a few words to say about the Obama administration.
TheyÂ’re driving us into bankruptcy so they can impose socialism on us. And IÂ’m sick and damned tired of it.

What to do? What to do?

Senate Republicans vow they will retaliate for Senate Majority Leader Harry ReidÂ’s (D-Nev.) decision to unilaterally change the SenateÂ’s rules Thursday without prior warning or negotiation.
Republican aides say their bosses will now be even more reluctant to allow the Senate to conduct routine business by unanimous consent, forcing Reid to gather 60 votes for even the most mundane matters.
Oops. Little boys shouldn't play with nuclear options.

But here's some of the text of it:
Now I know (Stockdale's name has) become a buzzword in this culture for doddering old man, but let's look at the record, folks. The guy was the first guy in and the last guy out of Vietnam, a war that many Americans, including our present President, did not want to dirty their hands with. The reason he had to turn his hearing aid on at that debate is because those fucking animals knocked his eardrums out when he wouldn't spill his guts. He teaches philosophy at Stanford University, he's a brilliant, sensitive, courageous man. And yet he committed the one unpardonable sin in our culture: he was bad on television.

once someone you love dies you realize theres some things you cant change. if it happens over and over again, you find theres things you can change or bargain with, merely learn to live with as a reality.
after a while you start to LIKE walking with facts, and using them. learn to trust logic and learn its not antithetical to faith and belief. Truth is your friend. But also truth is TRUTH, not your truth or his truth. but just itself. THE TRUTH.
but like Howard Beale said you wont find it on TV or from anyone else. You have to go outside with your friend Logic, and discover it for yourself. And without logic its alot harder and you will get fooled ALOT.
Those dirty hippies at the marches forgot that part.

Stann's only hope was to keep the fight standing up and trade punches. But Sonnen is an amazing wrestler and wasn't gonna let that happen.
Main critique of Sonnen is he got busted for steroids (or testosterone supplements, can't remember) and got banned for a year or so. He also got busted on some mortgage scam he tried to pull. So he's kinda shady.
Personally I don't care if fighters and athletes do steroids. The mortgage fraud bugs me more than his failed drug tests.
His post-fight interview was awesome, though, as he went full WWE and challenged the current champ - Anderson Silva -- to a fight on Super Bowl weekend and vowed to quit the UFC if he loses.

It's from his Live from Washington, D.C. set. I think you can still get that in his "HBO Specials" DVD box. And of course it can be found at an amazing discount in certain back alleys of the tubes.
The audience...comes around. His permission to go WHAT HE SAID! WOOT! at something that's not what a '90s comedy audience expects to hear gets 'em all excited, once they get over the initial shock. And Miller's kinda nervous when he starts the rant, because he's saying some unsayable things, but he eventually relaxes into it and lays it down Miller-style.
It's not funny, in pretty much the same way Bill Hicks wasn't, but it's a good show—his last good one, I think. I'm not a fan of his post-'92-or-so material, because there aren't many Dennis Miller jokes in it. Dude sounds like the writing staff for a show a Dennis Miller type hosts. Boo.

The Paramilitary is in the Drug War, assigned to discard the casualties as if to leave no trace, making no effort to identify the bodies.
A public security specialist at the Mexico Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Eric L. Olson, said Mexican officials have acknowledged to him that they don't investigate the mass killings in Mexico, forensic teams do not conduct the analyses that would clarify the executions and lead to prosecutions. "There's no investigation. When you push them, officials are honest: 'We really don't know who these victims are.'" From the point of view of Generational Dynamics, Mexico is headed for a new war, refighting the Mexican Revolution of the 1910s along the fault line separating the people of European ancestry versus the indigenous peoples (“Amerindians”) of Mexico — the Mayans in the south and the Aztecs and Commancheros in the north. This war is expected to spread into the southwestern United States. Alberto Islas, a security analyst and chief of Risk Evaluation Ltd. said the military-style movements of various crime groups indicate that "President Calderon doesn't have control of the armed forces."

Kunonga was excommunicated in 2007 by the main Anglican Province of Central Africa and the worldwide head of the church [above]. Kunonga was accused of inciting violence in sermons supporting Mugabe's party. Kunonga insists he split from the Anglican church because of its position on gay marriage.

The first group is most often your close family. Then your extended family. Then your friends and acquaintances who are most often like you. Then your local community. Your own country is the last expanded circle, PROVIDED you accept it as "your own" country. This is why it is so important to not allow migration at levels that do not allow assimilation.

Political correctness seeps into every aspect of our lives due to the power of the elites. The military, even the USMC, is not immune to this. Who needs warriors, when for less money you can have a brigade of gay, cross-dressing interior designers?
My concern is that our entire military will be so demoralized and weakened by the deliberate actions of those domestic enemies that hate the Constitution that we will have no organized defense forces when we need them.
Prayers for Grim and his brothers in arms.
Posted by: Hrothgar at October 09, 2011 04:53 AM (i3+c5)
#727 Racism sucks, agreed.
Given a CinC preaching racial hatred, what naturally exists as an impulse denied becomes openly expressed.
1. I differentiate USMC from Mexico's Mexican Marines.
I have the deepest respect for the men and women who defend the US Constitution and our nation's sovereign territory and the lives of US citizens.
I oppose taxpayer obligated bail-outs. Protecting globalist enterprises NOT loyal to the USA, NOT American, should not be considered the official duty of our Military imho.
I have no faith whatsoever in the integrity of the most powerful globalist elites, regardless of race, rank or religion. The role of elitists is authoritarianism, and that's unconstitutional. Regardless of their superiority complex, they couldn't survive without forcing us into their feudal system. They DEPEND on us.
I understand that racism is as strong as it gets where people don't exercise the All-American color blind equality espoused by MLK,jr's vision to judge a person according to CHARACTER, not color.
2. US Armed Services do enlist a very large percentage of volunteers who are not US citizens.
Yes, this can be an excellent path to legal citizenship. And yes, this can lead to our Military's demise as troops become mercenaries not loyal to the US Constitution.
Then there's Rangel's rage for Obama's draft. Where else to fill the ranks as volunteerism to fight forever wars falls, particularly if Obama's initially promised "private, personal" army co-opts volunteering numbers who would otherwise have joined the official and traditional Military branches?
But then, where are the American lawyers banding to publicly force the Congressional herd of lawyers to impeach, prosecute and convict Obama out of office? Is there a constitutional hill that lawyers would fight to preserve, that they consider worth dying on? Rather, they poopoo the Tea Party impulse, first saying that it isn't a real party, next that it "was" a movement but isn't any longer, promoting whatever the latest establishment propaganda.
On border security, the Tea Party movement demanded a fence. Congress "passed" a fence without funds. Faux McCain "demanded" build the danged fence. There is no fence, whether there should be or not. The fence metaphor symbolizes national security. Taxpayers are paying for national security DHS services directed against taxpayers as if "protection". Ironically, it's CORRUPTION, whether Ponzi financial federal fraud, the war on terror-drugs, or illegal immigration that DHS protects. Twisted sister's illegitimate stooge.
And to think that '08 candidates/voter focus was singularly on SCOTUS nominees, and we with the GOP failed that single cause. Given that corruption permeated everything before all hell broke loose, contain in vain.
Shit a jubilee at your own risk. After all, tomorrow is another day.
I've had it. DOOM's gotta be posted by now.
