Bottom's Up! Break out the booze and take off the required amount of clothing. It's time for the ONT.
So Halloween is right around the corner and already there are some costume ideas that are grabbin' headlines.
Meet Anna Rexia. I know, I know. Sounds like a pron star or somethin' but that's the name of the costume and of course, right on cue, some people are 'outraged'.
Of course, the other costume in the news is Charlie Sheen. Why the hell would someone buy this? How hard can it be to look like you are plastered and get some pron stars to party with?

This costume rocks!
Ewok Midget Tossing

Heh. I wonder what Ace did on vacation? OK, seriously though. I had no idea that this was out there but evidently it is. FL Lawmaker Wants State To Reinstate Dwarf Tossing. Seriously? It was so bad before that they had to ban it? So why does this politician want to unban it now. Jobs. Yeah, that's right. Jobs. Are there a lot of dwarfs in Florida?
A Little Metallica
This band is pretty damn good. At least until the singin' part but not bad at all.

But the process by which the decision was made was on the merits. It was straightforward. And of course there were going to be debates internally when youÂ’re dealing with something as complicated as this.
So, didn't the media establish, with the internal decision on whether Iraq had WMD, that if the president went with the majority decision in a complicated matter, and the majority was wrong, he was still 100% to blame?

That Halloween costume is more appropriate than some costumes for women I've seen. What is Halloween for if not for some dark, macabre humor? Where's the outrage against all the costumes glorifying both real and film serial killers? Guess there isn't a lobbying group for the Jason Voorhes, the Michael Meyers, and the Freddy Krugers of the world... they are all misunderstood!

Well as long as the singer isn't the one that created the band they can always replace him with a younger singer

ItÂ’s not hard to laugh off a bunch of kids in Guy Fawkes masks, sleeping in the streets for, waiting forÂ…something. But Matt Lewis points out that itÂ’s probably not wise to make the same mistake progressives did with the Tea Party:
I don't think that the Occupiers are going to take off like the tea party did, and I think it is both fair and a good idea to make fun of them, but to the larger point that the Repubs should be answering the general concern giving rise to them I agree.
The Republicans should campaign against the Bush/Obama crony socialism. No more Enron, no more Solyndra. Point out that Obama's "change" was doubling down on the things Bush was doing wrong.

i did that on the last deployment too.
we just call it the "psycho link" to me funny because the guys really do think hes psycho (theres a reason hes called Mr. Grim, look it up.)
anyway he knows when i am not ok too. Chemjeff i dont know if hes ok. i havent heard anything since he got back from medical. which concerns me that he may have had to go back, or he could just be doped out of his mind or unable to get internet in his room. we shall see.
not alot i can do now but ask you all to pray for his speedy recovery and for medical to figure out what is wrong and get all over it. Better than last time in the last deployment he got sick and they never really treated it till he almost died in his can from waiting too long to get treated. (once he collapsed unconcious in his bed and they could not wake him, they were like OHSHIT THIS MAN IS SICK!!!!!)
at least with going FUBAR at the end of a mission the way he did someone NOTICED this time and it wasnt left to him to report himself.
anyway i have very bare bones info will wait online for more as the evening passes. So i am doing a semi- Yom Kippur observance where the TV is off but the computer is on so i can sit up waiting to hear back on his condition.

Zuccotti Park hasn't been cleaned in 3 weeks
The owners of the private park, Brookfield Office Properties, cannot simply eject the demonstrators because the charter for the park allows 24-hour public access. But the owners never counted on this and appear to be getting fed up.
In a statement they said “because the protestors refuse to cooperate…the park has not been cleaned since Friday, September 16th and as a result, sanitary conditions have reached unacceptable levels.”
However, demonstrators insist they are being good neighbors, making an effort to be quiet in the overnight hours and cleaning up after themselves.“The people that have been here, have been making sure to clean up. You can walk through and see, but I’ve seen multiple people sweeping,” demonstrator Michelle Rafic said.

Gush,
Sounds like your man may have sucked down the dreaded "Giardia" from some local water source, or got into some under-cooked local food. 24-48 hours with some potent antiemetics (Zofran I.V if they even have that out there) and a few bags of I.V fluids with a splash of K+ and he should be good as new. Still, sucks to be in combat AND having your guts turned inside out from some enterotoxin. Wish I had my own G-5 and the money + the gear, I'd get out there and spiff him up for ya...
CUZ THAT IS WHAT i can do with my eyes closed for 12 hours straight in any E.R..any time...

Someone i talked to didnt want it cuz they that means youre "really disabled" if youre taking it. I wanted to yell IF YOU ARE EPILEPIC YOU ARE ALLREADY REALLY DISABLED! If shes having trouble finding a drug that works its worth a try. will slow you down at first, i take it before bed.

So today, checkup, and I find out that the corneal flap is what was gone / causing all the pain and blurriness. "first time in my career" he tells me. THAT is encouraging.
I'm told that my situation is now more like what used to happen in the "PRK" days, so it'll probably get better. Except that I seem to have lost confidence in this particular doctor. Maybe I'll get it back. The vision too

Now to just patiently wait for the time when the goon says to the poopstick "Hey! Get over here and march." Whereupon a middle finger is then extended, then Mr. poopstick gets to march all day with a purple T-shirt shoved up his rectum.
Let the good times roll. It'll be like Mardi Gras.

Cain like Romney supported the Bank Bailout (TARP).
Cain, Former Fed Chairman, wants to keep the FedÂfs Banking Records secret.
Cain said that he would pick Romney as his VP.
Cain like Romney did not serve in the military and is not qualified to be Commander in Chief.
Â@
Cain has said that States have the right to overrule the 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms.
Â@
Cain had Stage 4 Cancer in 2006 and we can not afford to have Romney as Cain's VP, one heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Gush,
Sounds like your man may have sucked down the dreaded "Giardia" from some local water source, or got into some under-cooked local food. CUZ THAT IS WHAT i can do with my eyes closed for 12 hours straight in any E.R..any time...

you know what is funny Richard?
thats the first thing i thought. And i could help you. Sometimes we call the meds different things but the biggest difference is that you dont have to muzzle or twich and tranquilize your patients like we do.
i am fairly sure they do have the Zofran (one of my best friends on a couple occasions) since i think giardia is common. but what bugs is... i know he doesnt eat local food. i hate thinking they have a problem with the contrators getting them clean water again (which has happened before where the drinking water tanks got gross.)
he is badass that he went out there to work like that. i am proud of him. But worried since i havent heard from him and i kinda expected to if hes feeling better. im worried hes back to medical again. But... i hate that flagyl it makes me BARF AND BARF. right now i am trying to figure out how to get a good probiotic to him.

that mare with the encysted bot larvae is finally starting to see action with the giant granulomas coming out. i think we will have to clean and debraid the lip one more BAD time, and then it will be all uphill from here. we are pulling GIANT hunks of solid crap out.
we have been lamenting we couldnt give her the big heavey stuff but this mares system wouldnt tolerate it and it made her sicker. I am very very familiar with tradeoffs and having to go with a "less for longer is more in the long run" approach.
sometimes supporting the system, and letting the body handle it works better. its sure been that way with this patient.

ok well you know how you guys give cortical steroids pretty confidently for all kinds of stuff like inflammation or allergies and reactions of all kinds? well with horses, not so much. it creates a metabolic issue that can CAUSE swelling in the soft tissues in the feet, and kill them horribly when the hooves fall off. I am not making this up. Cortical steroids are bad jazz for the horse vets. we use them, but reluctantly, and with fear
Soooo. we give them a dilute form of IV DMSO. I cant remember the dosage but Like 10 or 12 ccs in a 5 litre bag...its totally useful for treating the metabolics that make the feet fall off. like an antidote thogh we use Banamine as our go to drug for that and gut imflammation first. or phenylbutazone.
interestingly, we also give it for severely inflamed tendons and to premature foal and newborns who are born weak and listless with a lack of reflex to swallow or suck. Seems to fix it somehow.
is that WILD or what?

I cannot speak to its medical effects
all I can say that in the chemistry lab, I always hated using it, it is a viscous oily liquid, about the same consistency as cooking oil - plus it has a sulfur type smell
I am glad that I didn't have to use it very much

i just think its a hoot its indicated for encephalopathy and spinal injuries. AND ITS AWESOME. an engine solvent that does all that, and is a joint rub, and you can probably clean silver with it too! because it takes stuff through the skin you can mix it with other things to deliver stuff topically. I just laugh and laugh and the stuff thats possible.
but the smell is gross. seriiusly gross and the bad taste it leaves is right up there with flagyl. prolly worse. rotten eggs. ugh.

Seriously, I get your point. Beck's good in a lot of ways, but his constant doom-mongering turned me off. I'd rank Beck better than Hannity, but inferior to Rush.
If somebody were "new to the faith" (conservatism or libertarianism-lite), I'd ween them on several of Beck's books (milk) and then gradually put them on more meatier stuff (Steyn, Coulter, so on and so forth).

cortizone causes foundering. IV DMSO can cure it.
and i have seen PLENTY of foundered racehorses. sadly. why do you think you walk them cool, then feel their feet to see if they are warm or cold after a work, baby?
ice cold feet= no laminitis
warm feet= keep walking give two grams bute, check later.
laminitis is rarer in racehorses because they are younger, usually in good health, fed wisely and worked carefully by warming up and cooling down with care, feet usually not trimmed stupidly, but oh baby have i seen bad foundered racehorses.
Like break your heart bad.

Not a lotta lookers on the Brewers, Mallamutt. Ryan Braun looks like he should have his thyroid checked, and Zack has teh crazy eyes. Being as they're baseball players, they are beautifully put together, of course, but above the neck, the Brewers are not my favorite team.
Cards not appreciably better. Yea, sure you could argue Ryan Theriot, but he's a midget. David Frees only looks good because he's got those curls. Matt Holliday sucks you in because he's obviously a stud, but the longer you look, the more you realize that's he's not really all that great looking. Above the neck. Pujols is so gorgeous he doesn't even seem real, and that annoys me for some reason. I'm not sure you could really relax around a man like that.
Detroit also weak. They really only have Porcello, but he's a mouth breather and way too skinny. Perralta, Ordonez and Cabrerra aren't bad, but there are some facial hair and tat issues. No, Detroit as a whole doesn't really move me, but they did deliver that Yankee ass whoopin'. That moved me in a way unbecoming to a happily married woman, let me tell ya.
The Rangers are the choice of my heart. Hamilton, Kinsler, Young. Tat and facial hair issues, it's true, (I'm lookin' at you, Josh) but the overall picture is the best of the four teams. And when you factor in the way Ian Kinsler wiggles his.....hips when he's at bat, come on, how you gonna root against that??? You can't. You cannot resist cheering that on; you have to encourage it.
How can I choose between Yankee ass whoopers and Texas ass wigglers?! I'm a Southern woman, for the love of God.
Maybe I need to just look at it as a total win-win situation. Because it really is. Worse thing that can possibly happen is that I end up with either Yankee slayers or Texas studs. Winning!!!!!!!
God I love October.

344please read more carefully, Jimmah. i was talking to Richard about how great i think DMSO is for everything. But im scared shitless of cortisone cuz it can fuck up the laminae and cause an otherwise ok horses feet to heat up. I hate injecting cortizone in hocks for that reason.

I didnt know, but I'm 20 years out from racing horses. Back in the day it was normal to use, and once in ten years I suggested to the vet that a horse might have founder, and was laughed out of the shed row.
Never saw it personally, but then again, the horses were also given ice treatments pretty regularly. The whole racing scene seemed to be who could best keep the horses sound enough to race. We used all kinds of techniques, well... the ones that were legal, and wouldn't show up on a drug test. Mostly ice, DMSO, poultice, cortisone injections, and in DMSO, bute, and its so long I can't remember the rest.

sometimes you just have an asshole vet.
you were probably right. its a common complication to a lot of stuff tho maybe the horse didnt have a significant rotation of the coffin bone, or maybe even it did. but bute is used to cool down the feet alot and Gushka LOVES icing boots.
i had an asshole vet laugh at me when i brought him in to look at a mare whose tendon was looking scary strained. He laughed at me, the Boss trainer put her back to work.
That bitch blew out both front legs so badly (just before the year end championship) that we couldnt use her for a YEAR.
soooo depending on who it is, i listen or i half listen. but since two my closest friends are vets i have a lotta inside dope on who knows what they are taking about and such. Frankly one friend i would use for vaccinations and stuff, and to go to Hollywood running around causing trouble, and one i call in when i really need that horse to live.

im sorry i was there and remember clearly someone was practically beggin for it. he may have gone overboard, but he didnt start overborad. He started with shallow and lacks wisdom. (your clue when a rough man with a dying dog says "shallow lacks wisdom," back off, ugly is coming NEXT) I saw what was coming a mile away and she did poke a bear with a toothache, with a sharp ass stick.
just cuz youre cute doesnt mean you have a forcefield protecting you from logical consequences. She picked a bad night to be a snarky bitch to a rough man. You will get rough language. They will tear you a new one.

Nope! I was fairly cute in my day, I mean relatively speaking. And those days are long gone!!!
I was a butter face at best, though. And the body at 47 is not what it used to be, especially after 15 months of steroids and not being able to walk. I have kept it down to 12 pounds, though, which isn't bad.

cute tho is how you handle yourself and who you are in a lot of ways, more than how you look. I have seen beautiful women who were soooo not cute and average looking women who were cuter than hell, and managed to out-adorable those sour faced beauties.

i sure havent and it seems Youtube apparently found out im jewish (even tho i could well be considered among those really bad might as well not be jewish jews) and it wont play any video for me on Yom Kippur. I turned off my TV which will stay off till later and so i guess its just me sitting here with you waiting to hear if Grim is ok, feeling like a person who has fucked up in various ways with no way to fix it with some people. I sure hope G-d is more forgiving.
i dont usually fast because i take medications and am considered frail but i am this year because well, i sin. And i feel like if i want to ask anything out of G-d and i have rather a few big things on my list, i might as well turn off the TV go hungry and sit in the dark and then say alot of prayers tomorrow.
did i mention how i really am so very bad at this practing judaism part and so i really feel bad, like i have a whole lot of 'splaining to do for bein a shitty kid who never calls or visits home?

No guilt. NO GUILT.
I refuse to believe that a God who made a gazillion different kinds of insects alone expects to be worshiped in any specific way. Variety is clearly important to this Being. I sincrely doubt that worship or any kind of thing like that is even required. It's humans who love to be worshiped, and we assume that's what God wants. I don't believe it.
You're blue because of Grim, don't let it play with your head any more than it has to. You are an angel, madam!

thanks and youre right about Grim.
Howco is Jewish too and the two of us are comparing how bad a jews we are right now. Both not eatin, i guess hes not drinking (alcohol) either which for him is nothing short of miraculous.
hes cheering me up.
hes explaining how he fights,
he kills.
i highly suspect he appropriates what he needs regularly without thought.
but hes bad at fornication. he just no good at it. so hes solid with G-d on that.
my problem is that i dont pray enough i stay out of temple and i married a goy twice. At this point im just beggin G-d to judge me as a gentile because essentially i live like one. tho unlike Howie i will not eat pork.

Is it just me, or have the ONT threads been a lot less commented on in the last two to three weeks?
I mean in the past, getting to 666 comments was easy-peasy. Over a thousand was not unusual.
Now?
I can't remember the last time an ONT cracked 666.

1. My tendency to inadvertantly kill a thread, bring stagnation and decline to whatever online communities I visit.
2. Banhammer has come down too often since the last election, chilling the commentor community to a certain degree.
3. Along with two but with the added fact that certain popular frequent commentors have become infrequent commentors thus creating a negative feedback loop. In other words, for every fewer comment from a certain commentor, X number of commentors are less likely to comment.
D. All of the above.

The military said that they would not be staging an inquiry into what happened because the injury rate was “acceptable”.
CYA no investigation if the plan was poorly plotted from the onset. The Hohenfels weather posts fog, clouds and rain. The terrain is heavily wooded, regardless of the weather. Are paratroopers so expendable? Are mock battles poorly staged in order to cause "acceptable" injury rate prior to a newly increased military budget request for paratrooper skydiving new technology? Don't tell me our paratroopers are poorly trained or poorly suited. Poorly led, when politics rule decisions, that's a likely possibility, though not "acceptable".

Posted by: viking at October 08, 2011 02:50 AM (OZymZ)
Are you a paratrooper or have experience in that arena? You seem to imply that the planners caused this by poor, well, planning. Not trying to challenge you but would like to know your reference point.
Posted by: viking at October 08, 2011 02:58 AM (OZymZ)
After reading the article, didn't you wonder wtf?
Even if the injury rate is acceptable, an inquiry should determine how best avoid the severity recurrence.
That 47 severe injuries out of 650 are expected in real combat hardly requires 47 paratroopers be severely injured in a mock battle to prove the point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it isn't as if the paratroopers landing in a forest need "training" how to parachute into a forest. My bet is that the "plan" wasn't for them to land in the forest. Now, when has weather not influenced the decision to mass an attack, considering the pros and cons? Rescheduling inconvenience trumped, as likely as not. And the same people who planned the mock battle including its schedule are the same people determining that an inquiry is unnecessary. No surprise.
Posted by: didn't take long at October 08, 2011 04:03 AM (lpWVn)
I don't necessarily disagree with you at all. I just don't have a reference point from which to judge the story, that's all. You're conclusion may very well be right. Just saying I have no baseline from which to judge the story, that's all.
