'Sup 'rons and 'ronettes! Hope y'all are all having a fine weekend with friends and family. Hot as hell here but the A/C is kickin'. Without further ado, on with the ONT.
This Sunday starts the annual feeding frenzy on the Discovery Channel known as Shark Week. In light of this, here's a timely piece that covers the 20 Greatest Sharks In Pop Culture History. Land Shark should've been far higher on that list. I dare SyFy Channel to air Honey Badger vs Mega Shark and pay Christina Hendricks to star. Ratings bonanza. Guaranteed.

It's not often one get's to write this, but this was one hell of a car crash. Enough to make even the strongest car lover tear up. Million Dollar Car Wreck In Monaco. I bet the lawyers got there before the EMTs.
The collision, involving a Bentley Azure (worth an estimated $400,000), a Mercedes S Class ($120,000), a Ferrari F430 ($230,000), an Aston Martin Rapide ($230,000) and a Porsche 911 ($130,000), occurred in front of Monaco's Place du Casino, according to Sky News.

The toughest and smartest dog I ever knew was a miniature collie (though about 1/2 again larger) mix named Brownie. He WAS brown and would sit quietly while his pal Fritz would entertain the patrons of a corner hangout but when people got rowdy it was Brownie that would dart in and take bites at the participants.
Everyone liked Fritz but they respected Brownie.
Good dog. Crossed over to Rainbow Bridge years ago. Still missed.

People like to crap on ET as the "worst game ever" (I actually enjoyed the game as a kid) but the 2600 Pac-Man port easily bests ET for the title. I vividly remember plunking out $30 from my allowance for that piece of shit and the grave disappointment I felt mere minutes after having plugged the cart in.

Rum, was it the friend part you thought was sad? The boy didn't think that was sad, he was amazed it lasted that long.
What I didn't understand was at the end when his team was toasting him, most of them seemed to be there but I could've sworn 3/4 of them got vaporized in that last battle. Of course part of the problem with the movie was keeping track of who exactly was getting vaporized, the good guys or the bad guys.
But wow, those bad guy uniforms were sorta creepy.

Yeah, they were very Star Wars Storm Trooper-esque. I thought that was kind of interesting.
I couldn't keep track of who the guys were on his team, the ones he broke out of the prison. I only knew the main ones as black dude, dude with the bowler hat and mustache, and Asian dude from Fresno (that part cracked me up).

The Donald is making noise again. Loud noise. I still am not totally convinced this was a publicity stunt, an ego self stroke, or even a half hearted campaign. Mostly I think he likes the sound of his own voice and gets a kick out of stirring things up. Some kind of Media troll, lol.
He claims to be serious this time (echo, echo echo) and says he will enter the prez contest if he does not like the Republican Candidate. WTF? Colossal ego and I guess you could throw in some audacity. There is a lot of speculation flying around about a third party candidate and now it is sounding like it vould become a self-fufilling prophesy. The voter pull would be from the right side, and help the left. A lot. Maybe straight to the White House.
You know the MSM will pick up on this and run with it. After all, something like a third candidate would virtually assure their idol 4 more years. How do we discourage the Donald? Ideas?

In other words, virtually the same as the Boehner deal in the actual cuts, which will likely be back-end loaded (we expect about $10-20 billion in 2012 cuts), but the Democrats get what they want in that it will not require a second debt ceiling hike before Obama's re-elecetion as $2.8 trillion should last well into 2013. As for "future cuts", well, that's easily what Congress is so very good at. Indefinite future cuts that is.

Interesting. I only started playing it 2 years ago and have absolutely loved it. Made many a game much more interesting only because I had players involved or my opponent did. Plus, it made me better in the office pool for pick 'em as I was keeping up to speed on a lot more players.

First movie I saw that abused the hell out of those-type of descriptions was "And the Band Played On", an HBO movie based on the Randy Shiltz (sp?) book about the AIDS epidemic in San Fransisco.
It was as if the movie producers made the movie out of the portions of the book that solely blamed the hospitals and "blood bank CEOs" for the spread of AIDS in the 1980s. What really amused me about that movie was how it "cleanly" it portrayed the decadence going on in the San Fran bathhouses, while in reality...yeah, I won't go there.

Milla cannot be taken seriously as an actress after the Resident Evil movies, at least IMHO. If Paul WS Anderson wanted to write love letters to his wife, he should have stuck with the traditional methods of that and not used a movie portrayal of a popular video game franchise to tell his wife how special he thinks she is.

Hopefully never. Video games never translate well to screen because video games are meant to be played, not watched (although many video games have awesome cinematics that surpass a lot of movies these days, IMHO).
David Jaffe, the executive producer for GoW1 and 2, mentioned in an interview that there was a script for GoW somewhere and that David thought Djimon Hounsou (Juba from "Gladiator") would make a good Kratos for the big screen. *shrugs*. But I prefer that GoW would never become a movie as Kratos is already too over-exposed and a movie would just destroy the character, as it would never meet the fan-boys high expectations.
And for the love of God, if a GoW movie is ever green-lighted, DO NOT LET Uwe Boll get his hands on it.

My take on that deal is Jack was a Company Man. The GOP knew he would step up when asked, even though Jack Kemps financial plans totally contradicted Bob Dole (a Country Club Repub). Jack did exactly as planned and his political career was toast after that. Fast forward to the RINO John McCain and how Gov. Sarah Palin stepped up to save his ass. History repeats itself. 2.8 trillion ought to be enough to get through 2012, so I think we blinked. Having cuts that are automatic would also prevent the Dems from having to vote on it while allowing them to demagogue some alternative (of course, it would prevent us from having to vote on Medicare cuts as well).
It's really not bad in the grand scheme of things--no tax cuts and we're talking about trillion dollar cuts now as opposed to a few billion--but since we were fighting over six vs. 18 months, it would be a win for the Dems there.

It pisses me off to absolutely no end that other parents seem
incapable of teaching their children how to behave in public. I don't
give a good goddamn if it is a kid's movie--that's the perfect place to
teach them how to behave.
They do it in no-kids movies too. When my sister and her husband took me to see both Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm street, there were at least 2 to 3 infants in the audience and at least a handful of pre-teens in the audience. And of course they cried and carried a fuss too. What kind of parent takes infants of all people to horror flicks showing more blood and gore than in a hospital ER and more boobs than at an Obama general staff meeting?

Dogs and kids and family are cherished and respected.
Nobody apologizes for who they are.
I won't spoil anything for you, but this is one of the most un-PC movies I have seen ever.
Go see it so they'll make more like this.
Daniel Craig:
loses a little of his short-man snottiness and plays a good knock-off of Steve McQueen. Not perfect, but you can kinda see Steve McQueen in the background at times nodding his head.
Harrison Ford: As awesome as I have seen him in years. The biggest acting stretch I've seen him make since Regarding Henry. Real acting and real emotion.
You'll love him, you'll hate him, you'll respect him, and you'll want to drink beers with him.
Freshest, most original-yet familiar new character I've seen in movies since, well, Han Solo.
Special effects are good.
Get to see plenty of the bad guys.
Plenty of action of many types.
No grinding, forced bullshit love story that slows everything down.
There is one disturbing part that made me actually have nightmares last night. Be ready for it. Suffice it to say that you will hate these fuckin aliens so bad you will want to kill some yourself.

No, no. Good neighborhood. Just that the bike/jog path is packed because it is 68 degrees with a nice breeze. Everyone in Burbank is out walking the dog or jogging.
My son is getting too big for the stroller and when he leans over too far he makes it tip over. Plus its one of those stupid three wheeled types.
We did two miles jog/walk. Family bonding.

Surprisingly, yes. It's good BUT it's readily apparent throughout the movie that the film was rushed through its eight month production to meet its June release date. Still, pretty durned good.

Yes, in the original Captain America comics, the scientist that develops the super soldier serum never writes the formula for the serum down but memorizes it instead so when he's shot and killed, the formula dies with him.

My first faire was the Arizona Ren Faire way out East of Phoenix in 1993.
It's good goofy fun. Lots of interesting people to talk to about books and games and geeky stuff.

Yeah, the only problem is how far out from the city it's held. Limits the time you can spend out there since you're always factoring in how long it will take to get home.
We've never gotten to see the jousting, even though we've tried. Maybe one of these days. Never miss the raptor show, though. Best part of the day, aside from shopping. (heh)

I did pick up Delicatessen on DVD, an introduction to philosophy, and programming manual for iphone games.
It is already picked over fairly well. The language books are a pale shadow of themselves and I can't even find the music book section.
Oh well. I just like going to bookstores, I guess.
