Evenin' everyone! I'm back for another ONT so get yer drink and get comfortable. It's time for the ONT.
During the qualification process for Mission Commander, many scenarios are covered to gauge your knowledge of the airplane, weapon systems, tactics, intelligence, etc to see how you would think and respond in different situations. I remember some scenarios asking me what do you do if you are out of weapons but you have a friendly unit in danger and the only means you have of protecting that unit is your unarmed plane. I remember thinking that if we are at that point, we're losing the friggin' war if I have to seriously ram my plane into the enemy. This story of LT Heather "Lucky" Penny brings home the point that sometimes, you just might have to pull a kamikaze.
Late in the morning of the Tuesday that changed everything, Lt. Heather “Lucky” Penney was on a runway at Andrews Air Force Base and ready to fly. She had her hand on the throttle of an F-16 and she had her orders: Bring down United Airlines Flight 93. The day’s fourth hijacked airliner seemed to be hurtling toward Washington. Penney, one of the first two combat pilots in the air that morning, was told to stop it.The one thing she didn’t have as she roared into the crystalline sky was live ammunition. Or missiles. Or anything at all to throw at a hostile aircraft.
I can only imagine what one is thinking, going up into the sky knowing that you are going to ram an airliner with passengers on board but at the same time, you already know what has happened in NY and DC and will do what it takes to stop it. Outstanding story. The above picture is of her flying a jet at last years Reno Air Races. This Is Rock & Roll?
Dear Lord I laughed my ass off watching this.
Badass Lady
I don't think I could've done this for my dog (if I had one). My kids? Hell yes, in a heartbeat. Alaskan Woman Punches Bear To Save Her Dog. Well done. Pet owner of the year!
It started out as a typical evening for 22-year-old Brooke Collins. She let her dogs out as usual but this time, she said there was a black bear outside who took hold of her dachshund Fudge. She said she feared for her petÂ’s life and, in an instant, ran over and punched the bear right in the face to make it let go.
Bra Holster In Action
Vampire In Florida

Strange story. I wonder what drugs she was on. And she was training to be a dental assistant? Looks like she sharpened her canines in the photo. I'll be looking at my dentists teeth in the future to make sure they aren't some closet vampire or something. 22 Year Old Woman Assaults Elderly Man.
A Florida woman who claimed to be a “vampire” last night attacked an elderly man, biting him on the face and arm and tearing away chunks of his skin, according to police. When cops arrived, they located Smith--covered in blood and half naked--near the Hooters, according to a police spokesman. During questioning, she was unable to tell officers what had transpired outside the shuttered restaurant. Nor could she explain what had happened to her pants or why her panties were at her ankles.
Maybe she was just getting ready for the ONT and was trying to bag a hobo and depants as the rules dictate!
Animals Living The AoSHQ Approved Lifestyle
Oh yes. These animals just get friggin' plastered! Do note that they don't stop. Even these animals know the best cure for a hangover is to keep on drinking. Or in this case, eating.
Credit Myths
Interesting reading on 7 Nasty Credit Myths That Won't Die.
Myth No. 2: "Checking your credit hurts your credit scores."Fact: Checking your own credit reports and scores does not affect your scores. Period.
A credit check could hurt you if you asked a friend at a bank or car dealership to pull your credit reports. Such transactions probably would be coded as "hard" inquiries, or as applications for credit, which could ding your scores.
But checking your own credit is otherwise a non-event.
Hmmm. I still thought that this hurt you. Guess not.

Hollywood In The Post 9/11 World
This article sums it up nicely. Only now, with Obama in office and Bin Laden dead are they actually trying to make a war movie that is positive in coverage but it is a disgrace as it really is just a political piece that wants to paint Obama in a positive light and not something they really wanted to do solely on its merits. We've had some Medal of Honor recipients. Where the fuck are their movies???
But the fact that film depictions of the military may change somewhat now that a Democratic president has taken over and expanded on the war policies put in place by his Republican predecessor provides no excuse for what happened. When America really needed them, our filmmakers betrayed her. And because their unpatriotic products were made while our troops were under fire in the field, they constitute, when considered together, an unprecedentedly wicked action by an industry that rose to success and power through celebrating the nation and values that it now mindlessly attacks.
Someday, Hollywood might man up and actually make a movie that depicts Islamic Terrorists as they really are instead of making the terrorists some neo-Nazi group or Aliens or something that nobody would actually believe.

The first movie I saw post 9/11 where the enemies were changed from Islamic terrorists to European Neo-Nazis was in The Sum of All Fears. That movie was horrendous and Tom Clancy implied as such when he spoke on the film's commentary track.

I Love the Smell of Napalm in the Morning
I love the smell of napalm in the morning
That burnt the topless trees of Nung River.
Sweet Polly Styrene, make me immortal with a kiss.
Her lips suck forth my soul: see where it surfs!
Come, Polly, come, give me my soul again.
Here will I dwell, for heaven is in these lips,
And all is dross that is not Polly or Ben Zene.
I will be Saigon, and for love of thee,
Instead of Da Nang, shall Long Binh be sack'd;
And I will combat with weak Zippo,
And wear thy colours on my plumed crest;
Yea, I will wound Halon in the heel,
And then return to Polly for a kiss.
O, thou art fairer than the evening air
Clad in the beauty of a thousand stars;
Brighter art thou than flaming Kingsford briquettes
When they appear'd to hapless Barbecue;
More lovely than the surfers of the sea
In wanton Arethusa's azur'd arms;
And none but thou shalt be my paramour!

Speaking of which, I translated the USSR national anthem. Ever wonder what the words meant? Sing along while you open the link in another tab and play the song:
Oh, Yuri Gagarin, oh, Yuri Gagarin
Oh, he's, he's our man, he's our man, he's our man!
Oh, Yuri Gagarin, oh, Yuri Gagarin
Oh, Yuri Gagarin, he's o-ur man
Yuuur Yuu uu uu uu Yur Yuri, Yuuur Yuu uu uu uu Yur Yuri
He's o-ur man, he's our man, he's our maaaan!
Why? Why would we want another one?
Why? He's our favorite of all time.
Yuri Gagarin, oh, he's o-ur man
Oh, Yuri Gagarin, oh, Yuri Gagarin
Oh, he's, he's our man, he's our man, he's our man!

In my new place I've found many big spiders. I've seen the same type in the unfurnished basement, so I know where they are coming from, and I generally leave the ones in the basement alone.
However, to get big a spider has to eat a lot of other bugs right? I've gotten a handful of gnats in the house (the ones that can fit through a screen), but I can't imagine that is enough.
So...what are these spiders eating exactly?

that's actually not a bad idea, and after the dream sequence, he awakes to find an old jaw bone which he then uses to slaughter Joe Flacco and the rest of the Ravens' offensive squad.

I got Disgaea 4 this week, the latest in a series of games that chronicle the events in heaven and hells (roughly) as anime demons and the odd angel ponder the meaning of life, power rangers, and strained parental relationships. And humans spend a while as stuffed penguins (prinnies) partying for being good, or working of their debts if they were bad, before being reincarnated. There has been some political humor (the father of the first game's protagonist choked to death on a pretzel-a reference I think to a near miss suffered by the elder Bush). But they're a little different this time around.
I created a slime to join my party, and in this game all your characters are introduced as senators because they can take part in votes to unlock game features (and unlike the randomly appearing senators you don't have to bribe or beat them). Anyway, this slime stands before a podium and starts chanting "yes, we can" and the description continued to refer to him as Obama (the actual character kept another random name that had been assigned), and I expecting some redeeming commentary, but it never appeared. Slimes are pathetically weak and they "wear a skull in order to pretend to be tough." So he's lost Japanese game writers, or their localization staff.
In the third chapter of the game, the boss is a schoolgirl who didn't make it through to prinny training because there weren't enough penguin suits to go around. So she's community organized and leading a revolt to secure equal treatment for herself and the other unprinnies. Except that when the characters stop fighting long enough to discuss her issues, it turns out all the other prinnies are treated to the same rules as she has been. Recognizing this, she gives up her war with the protagonist in favor of legitimate political change (which, being demons will also involve lots of turn based fighting, but that's not the point), so I guess ACORN's on the outs, too.
Anyway, I'm just taking a break from NASCAR and wanted to share.

Oh and let me save all you gamers 50 bucks. Dead Island sucks. Even though it's been six years in the making, it was clearly rushed to market. It's filled with glitches, the cut scene dialogue is worse and lip syncing is worse than the original Resident Evil for playstation 1. The graphics are sub par, the story line lame, and it's all but impossible to beat in the single player mode.

I'm 81% through the game, on Chapter 14 and I can't beat a certain part. It's actually near impossbile to beat this part. So I went online to look for a walk through or advice from other players. It turns out almost everyone who is playing it as a single player can't get past this part.

http://preview.tinyurl.com/4xfqxl9
No matter how many prayers uttered; no matter how many hands held or pledges made; no matter how many bombs dropped or coffins draped. A nation cannot heal itself without self-awareness. On this score we have fallen short. We seem not to want to recognize that we donÂ’t have a problem; we are the problem.
Putting it bluntly, Sept. 11 caused us to go temporarily insane. Being for or against the war, first in Afghanistan and later in Iraq, divided us as wars do, but this time was different. Friendships ended, marriages suffered, people crossed the street to avoid those with whom they disagreed. Ten years later, we are still at war. Tack on the global financial crisis, stagnant unemployment, the further dissolution of trust in our institutions, and we have all the ingredients for moral panicÂ…
As we reflect on the events of 10 years ago, it would be nice if all sides could resolve to invite AmericaÂ’s better angels back to the huddle. Another terror attack would put things in perspective, all right, but our survival ultimately depends on our willingness to marshal reason and restraint against the emotional terrorism that surely will bring us down.
At the risk of sounding bossy: America, heal thyself. Please.
Um KaPa, listen do you notice ANYTHING odd about your timing in calling for unity of effort in time of war....anything at ALL????

They'll run with this for a while, see how the polls go. You can bet that they poll-tested every phrase of that speech, although I don't know if the poll testing included the JEF delivering it in his Elmer Gantry character.
Maybe the Rs ought to all go out and get speech coaches, the same ones that coach all the NPR readers, you know, those soft mellow tones that speak education, breeding, niceness, moderation, all that. It would be a nice contrast to the asshole with the big megaphone.

I'm having trouble remembering which element of conservatism people of good faith are supposed to HATE nowadays.
It was the socons at one point because they seem to have a problem with the Left's only real sacrament.
But then it was the foreign policy cons - they were war mongering Islamophobes going after poor kite flying Saddam Hussein who just wanted to gas and rape his people in peace.
But now with the rise of the tea party, those guys are acceptable conservatives. It is the people that, gasp, want to stop, or even maybe roll back, Gaia forbid!, the growth of government.
So, I'm guessing being a real libertarian, and not a dopetarian, would be a problem now for the Hollywood elite.

Yeah, I'm with you on that in general, but I'm pretty sure that colon cancer is very slow-growing, and detectable early, so that test is probably worth it, despite all the indignity. During, having the right drugs are key. My last one, which was so long ago that I'm, ugh, due for another, the drugs were such that I woke up slightly during, to mention that I could use more drugs, and was somehow not bothered at all by what was taking place. Must be date rape drugs or something. But of course the real indignity is the time before the procedure, what doctors call the "prep." I won't tell you what I call it, except that the phrase "Jacuzzi jet" figures in.

So I know we always joke about robtr stalking my house, but last night, unfortunately, I had a real prowler in my backyard.
Took the dog out about 9:15 for his last potty break when he turned to stare off down the yard at full alert with his hair standing up. I turned to look at what he was looking at and there was a person frozen about halfway down the yard.
I ran so fast into the house, the dog cleared two steps in one leap. I slammed and locked the door and the person apparently hopped the fence into my neighbor's yard. Called my neighbors but they didn't see anything and told me to call the police, which I did. The police couldn't find the person.
This morning went to check the yard and there was a discarded cup at the end of my yard and footprints by the fence where the guy pulled himself up.
Needless to say I am a bit anxious this evening. I am very glad my son was at his dad's, he's already going through a bit of anxiety about bad guys.

If you think the motherfucker is toast now, wait until after Greece goes under, and like dominos, so do Spain, Portugal, and Ireland. And after that, just for a little encore, if the Dow has not dropped another third or so, a successful AQ dirtybomb will cloud up something like the port of Long Beach or something. I may take you up on the invitation to Wades. I used to shoot, but sold my gun when the boy was born. Am seriously considering re-arming myself though.
The 911 call was interesting when I told the guy the person in my yard was in a white or light colored shirt he asked "was it a white sweatshirt?" but it wasn't, and then he asked "was it a teenager" I couldn't tell, the person was just tall. But that led me to believe that possibly there had been other calls.
The 911 operator was asking me to describe the person and I was thinking to myself "dude, there was a guy in my yard, I bolted into the house, I didn't stop to take inventory."

I think you might know me, maybe not. In either event, get a few cans of "Halt!" dog repellant (bicycle shops), and maybe a can of bear repellant (try a real gunshop). Also, get a Maglite, 6-C-cells (easier to grip). Carry a cellphone with you.
Guns are good too, and you should have one, but when you need to use it, will you ... immediately?
Hosing off some fool with dog- or -bear repellant ... who would hesitate? Why? He may need 30 minutes to an hour being washed, but his is a small price ... he won't be dead.
The Maglite is to see what you're looking at, and maybe to transfer knowledge ... a couple of good knots on the head, makbe a good crack across the upper shin ... the body willl acquire immediate knowledge (the size of the resulting bumps inticate the amount) that will be immediately tranferred to the brain.
Then make a call. In my experience at least, the police are always glad to haul.

if you can make FtF contact witth her get a peek at the place and look at the perimeter and materials of the area. Overpenetration is a real danger, and no matter how alarmed you are it is never a good idea to say good evening with a slug at your neighbors. You're right about the shotgun, you have to select the correct ammo regardless of weapon...if the houses/condos whatev are more than w/in 30 feet of each other I would honestly consider the revolver...
The nice thing about the new chiappa Rhino is it fires from the bottom of the barrel housing making snap shooting if need be aimed by the wrist and the recoil vectored along the center of the arm and out the elbow....
add in the Glasers and Overpentration is lessened as a risk.

Beagles are very good at scaring people off when the start barking and howling.
I think Buddy would've barked if I'd given him the chance. He has to stay on the leash when he is in the yard because he can dig under the fence, so he was attached to me and I just started running so he did too. I do think that Buddy was probably what froze the person in his tracks though. I think the person didn't realize we were in the yard.
There has been a young adult in the neighborhood exposing himself to teenage girls and the last incident he rubbed up against one of them so it is possible the person was this guy, perhaps trying to do some peeping tom stuff. He'll be terribly disappointed in my house though, no teenage girls here.

they're gonna screw up and do it in a way that would humiliate democrats costing them power if they gave in to their instincts and "understood".
One mistake we make is attributing far too much sophistication in their sub agenda, 9/11 was planned starting in Dec. 97....
had they hit under Clinton he would have FAEd somebody's city he loved him some ALCM surprise.....
nah we're not lucky it was not President Gore Islam is......
look I said it to my doctor when I first went to live at the condo while wife was in Korea in '03 "if we had a democrat in office it would be hell on Earth for the opfor because there would be no peace movement and the GOP will ALWAYS fall in if the troops are in harm's way...."
and now that the peace movement is gone after the King Donk even added another conflict I know I am right.
The democrat position is not necessarily anti-US on foreign policy it is definitely not that they are truly anti-war or anti-torture....
their problem was power....

Here is my favorite salmon recipe. Terryaki salmon.
1/2 cup dry sherry
3/4 cup soy sauce
4 mashed garlic cloves
1tbs grated ginger root
1 tsp sugar.
Heat while stirring until it boils then let it cool
Marinate the salmon for 45 minutes or an hour
cook the salmon on the grill with the charcaol to each side for 11-13 minutes (that's covered on a weber)
easy to make and delicious

It's totally about the temperature and time. I think you could modify the spices in any way you prefer.
Preheat the oven to 275 and prep the fish. I used fillets. Take a rimmed pan, lined with foil. Put a bit (maybe 1/2 tablespoon) of olive oil on the foil. Lay the salmon, skin side down on the foil. Mix about a tablespoon of olive oil with whatever other seasonings you're going to use (I used garlic, lemon zest, black pepper, some kosher salt and some thyme this time). Spread that on the top of the salmon. Let it rest for about 10 minutes or so the flavors can meld. Pop it in the oven for about 18 minutes but check it at 15. My fillets were about 3/4 inch thick, maybe less, and they took about 18 minutes. I probably could have taken them out earlier and they would have been fine. The slow/low cook allows the fat in the fish to melt. It's moist and delicious. I had it with some brown rice and slightly wilted spinach with parmesan shaved on top. Had a really nice Gruner Veltliner with it. Tasty, tasty, tasty. I would have used fresh thyme but I didn't start cooking until around 10 so I wasn't heading out to the garden. I used dried and it was still good.
I'm going to try it with some more aggressive spices next time but this is probably going to be my go to method for cooking from here on out.

(I wouldn't consider her a SoCon, though. More like a fiscal con. Or right leaning libertarian.) It's just Obamacare she likes because she thinks it's going to be good the way the British system is good. I told her about the horror stories people have of the NHS, but she just dismissed them. Her experience with NHS was good so she thinks the system is good overall. (Frankly, my parents' experience with NHS was good too, but I still don't endorse this.)

With my crazy schedule for the past few years, I'd buy ginger but not have time to cook and some weird, fuzzy, green shit would show up on the ends. I'm not a fan of refrigerator science experiments. I read somewhere that you could just toss the whole root in the freezer and break off/grate what you needed with no loss of quality in the ginger. I have found this to be true.

Jimmy Carter: 'We never dropped a bomb. We never fired a bullet. We never went to war'
Here is one out of three paragraphs that have my blood boiling the most:
What he's most proud of, though, is that he didn't fire a single shot. Didn't kill a single person. Didn't lead his country into a war – legal or illegal. "We kept our country at peace. We never went to war. We never dropped a bomb. We never fired a bullet. But still we achieved our international goals. We brought peace to other people, including Egypt and Israel. We normalised relations with China, which had been non-existent for 30-something years. We brought peace between US and most of the countries in Latin America because of the Panama Canal Treaty. We formed a working relationship with the Soviet Union."
How is that peace between Egypt and Israel going these days, Mr. President? Or how about small, inconsequential country known as the Islamic Republic of Iran? How many countries did the USSR consume during your reign of error? Btw, how effective was boycotting the Olympics in getting the Soviets out of Afghanistan?
And this is to say nothing of his post-Presidency public "deeds"...
Carter should just do good works behind the scenes and retire from public life completely.

I can't wait to be done with school. I miss cooking. I used to cook every night but the past year has been insane. I completely understand (even while in my 40s) the freshman 15. It was an Episcopal Church and I no longer attend it. Among the many reasons for my leaving was my fellow vestry members getting a case of the vapors when I selected the topic of St. Augustine's views on the doctrine of just war to discuss at the opening of one of our meetings after 9/11.

I can't wait to be done with school. I miss cooking. I used to cook every night but the past year has been insane. I completely understand (even while in my 40s) the freshman 15. It's just easier to order something in when you come in after a 10-12 hour day and still have hours of schoolwork to complete.

Yep, cooking and baking to me is relaxing. Especially when it turns out really good.
However, I made a cake last week, and I dont know if the humidity killed it, but it went in the garbage, which was a shame. because I made homemade orange frosting, and it was yummy.

I'm a total (and doctor approved) salt addict. I also like fish. Caviar was weird to me. I think it was a texture thing. That said, I haven't completely given up on it. There are so many different kinds. I've had a few that I liked and others that I hated. I've just learned to take a very small portion when it's offered.

Homemade orange frosting sounds amazing. I completely understand about cooking/baking being relaxing. Before school got too time intensive, I cooked every night. Dinner wasn't on the table until 9 or 10 because I didn't get home from work until 7 or later but cooking was so different from what I do during the day that it was completely relaxing and Zen-like.
I'm also a dork. I'd do all of my prep work first. Then, I'd fix a martini and head out to the porch to chill. When I came back in the house, I could pretend that my sous chef had done all the work and all I had to do was put it together. At that time, I had a live-in boyfriend who was also a kitchen elf. I'd wake up in the morning to a spotless kitchen. That was nice.

I prefer to say pro choice in that I truly believe in choice. Do or don't, it's not my business to dictate what a woman should do. But a lot of pro-lifers don't like the pro-choice label and call it false because the pro-abortion lobby has screwed with the language.

It doesn't matter that white parents do more cultural training than natural parents. We have to keep them on the reservations, and to hell with the kids.

Indeed.
I'm pro-choice... IF you say that choice is having the right to decide what to do with your own body. The fact of the matter is that a lot of the people out there who are having abortions are not in control of their own bodies. They are not taking precautions to avoid getting pregnant and when they find themselves with child (not with tissue or fetus but with child), they decide to stop being pregnant. There's a responsibility associated with choice. That responsibility means that if you don't want a child, you make sure you don't get pregnant. I'm not oblivious to the fact that, even with precautions, pregnancies happen. That's different. However, while I believe that no one should ever tell you what to do with your own body and your own life, once you're pregnant it's not only just about your life. There's another life involved. We are not supposed to be allowed to choose to end an innocent's life.

some but not all and I don't blame the ones who don't for that either, it's their choice. I hate abortion, hate the thought of it being a solution. I also hate that only one person in that evening of fun between two people have to take all the responsibility for it.
In a perfect world for me it would be illegal and all unwanted children would go to nice homes. It isn't a perfect world though.

in my mind, the big thing that separates conservatives - at least the more libertarian-minded conservatives - from the liberals, is their respect for the individual.
liberals want to herd people into groups. you don't matter to them unless you are part of some voting bloc or some coalition of the oppressed.
but if you believe individuals deserve to have their separate, respective dignities respected, then you just might be a conservative

they are not directly analogous....
your "right" to a procedure you buy is a separate matter than forcing someone into a cartel or coerce them into having to purchase into a collusionary organization to game their actuarial pools....
I can argue one on a moral or ethical plane based on personal belief the other is a simpler penumbra to use that "magic ink thing we found in the 4th amendment" lingo....
at the end of the day our system of government hell the social contract between the ideologies in our society says there are limits on what things you can make the federal govt. do....
we either have rules at that level or we don't....and I have to say the men and women in black have damn near convinced me we don't

I have several friends who have adopted from Africa, and while I appreciate what they did, I can't help but wonder why they didn't adopt kids from here, who need a chance at a decent life as much as a kid from Africa.
I worked in the Lynwood Unified School district many moons ago, when it was predominantly black ( mostly Hispanic now) and it was heartbreaking. Just gut wrenching. The kids don't stand a chance, for the most part.

Um, okay? I'm not saying white parents *shouldn't* adopt black babies. Hell, I encourage that. But there are those (mostly liberals) that won't allow it because they don't think black kids will get the same kind of "cultural" education were they to be raised by black parents. It's utterly bullshit and damns the kids, but that's how liberals work, isn't it? Race is more important than the kids' well being.
But I don't care if you call me a racist because clearly my saying sarcastically that it's damn near impossible for white parents to adopt black kids is racist.

heh, in seattle yes. UW was trying lobbying for an affirmative action intitiative and counted all the asians at UW as white because if they counted them as a minority 52% of the school was already minority.

Yep. Many years ago, I manned a crisis pregnancy hotline and did sidewalk counseling. A significant number of women I talked to decided against abortion once they knew that there were people who would help them and that they weren't alone. The initial decision to have an abortion wasn't theirs.
In the spirit of complete honesty. I was a teen mother. I had scholarship offers and a very bright future ahead of me. I also really enjoyed extracurricular activities...;-). I found myself pregnant in my junior year of high school. Despite being brought up in a Catholic family and hearing all of my life that abortion was wrong, I never heard why it was wrong. I was ready to go have an abortion. Fortunately, my best friend knew better. She told/showed me the truth of what abortion was. I took responsibility for my actions. I pulled up my big girl panties and had my daughter. Even though there have been many lean and difficult years, I have never regretted allowing my daughter to live.

It is also the explicit policy of the current adoption system to make this virtually impossible today.

Not so sure about that any more; kids are taught that it's not a baby. I can't tell you how many high school girls I tutored who used abortion as a means of birth control. I'm talking 14 year olds.
I wouldn't march in the streets to keep abortion legal, nor would I march in the streets if they made it illegal, but it angers me no end that the rabidly Pro Choice crowd refuses to acknowledge that the choice is in fact a human life. There is a cowardice there that is sickening; own your beliefs, for God's sake.

I have three Korean cousins because my Aunt and Uncle adopted them from orphanages. I had some friends looking into adoption years ago and heard all about it.
The problem is not a lack of willing adoptive parents. The problem is that it's actually cheaper and quicker to adopt a child from Africa or Russia than it is to adopt one from across the city.
Most people aren't willing to go through the financial and emotional trauma that is required to navigate the American system. Furthermore, most couples, especially young couples, want to adopt babies. It's not an unsympathetic position. Parents want to see their child's first steps, hear his first words, and generally experience all that stuff that you associate with parenthood. Older children mean that you miss out on that. Additionally, older children often come with a lot of baggage, either from the dysfunction that they experience at home, or from years in the foster care system.

I have found that many women who had abortions when very young don't regret it until they go have their first child, and realize in full what they lost and wonder what the babies they aborted would have looked like etc. And the agony of women who had abortions when younger and are unable to have children for some reason later on is pathetic, too.

Steve Dallas: Mother! You can't call them "colored people" any more!
SDM: Why not? There's still a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. I really don't think negroes mind.
SD: You can't call them "negroes", either, Mom.
SDM: What about The United Negro College Fund? I know that does good work on behalf of blacks.
SD: You're baiting me, Mom. Don't say "blacks", either. We'll use the appropriately sensitive, New Age term: People of Color.

SD: Yes.

Oh so your about to cross over the hump to really having a good time. If you back off now you'll get wobbly and crash. You just need to power through this part, kind of like breaking the sound barrier.

Surely not you. You have to have some conservatism to be a RINO

so how do you say "I am a pussy" in Cantonese?
Posted by: chemjeff at September 10, 2011 10:50 PM (s7mIC)
Well you have to start with the right idiom.
"My name is John Boehner" is a good start.

Real conservatives shave it into a racing stripe.

You'll want to learn how to say it in Mandarin since it's the national dialect, not Cantonese.

I always like to ask the Ronulans about their plan for Iran.
Wait until they nuke Israel, then join Israel in a counter strike, or just pretend they are not going to nuke us next. Watching Ronulan choke on an alliance with Israel, and near certainty of getting nuked is fun.

As was discussed Friday night, I don't feel like memorializing; I feel like vengeance.
New Hampshire has an event call Flags on the 48. They will be memorializing. In honor of our current president, I shall be hiking up Mount Deception. It is a trail-less peak with a sign-in register. I plan to make my sentiment known, and I shall note that in NYC, they refuse to even memorialize. No clergy, no firefighters.
Later folks, got a drive ahead of me.

The last week of August, 2011 and the first week of September 2011 "Lucky's" unit (DC ANG as I recall) was at Red Flag, along with my squadron. I remember her scoring an air-to-air 'kill' as a wingman in the strike package on one mission.
... and then two weeks later we were all in an actual war.
