TBM reminded me today that today was International Bacon Day so make sure you've had your daily allotment as required for all members of the Bacon Religion.
This story is a little old (last year) but I don't remember hearing about it. Bacon Bikini Contest Raised Cash For Fake Charity.
A California restaurant owner held a beauty contest to raise funds for a diabetes charity in his daughter’s name. But the breasts weren’t the only things that were fake in this competition. The charity, itself, didn’t exist.Steve Lightfoot held the first ever Bacon Bikini Contest at his cafe, Lightfoot’s California Cuisine in Roseville, Calif. on Oct. 22. The event, had, as you might expect, women parading around in bikinis made of bacon – ala Lady Gaga.
Raffle tickets were sold at the event, with the proceeds supposedly going to the Jordan Lightfoot Diabetes Foundation. Jordan Lightfoot, SteveÂ’s 19-year-old daughter, does indeed have diabetes, but unbeknownst to her, her father never registered the charity.

Well the Israeli version is on On Demand in the free movies section.

Great great grandaddy D took one in the leg fighting with the 139th PA at Spotsylvania Court House. Appearently he was one of the lucky ones, missed the bloodbath at the Mule Shoe.
He got a pension for being "incontinent" from the wound. Apparently he was embarrassed about it but still managed to crank out 8 kids, one of whom was my great grandma.

Skinhead is a dirtbag so the hell with her. It's terrible what happened to Kathleen Turner, formerly smoking hot as when she played in Body Heat. Now she's not as in Marley and Me. I'm watching the Nothing Compares 2 U video on youtube I actually kind of feel bad for Sinead O'Connor and women in general. They simply don't age well. Or at least many of them don't. And it's doesn't seem to be through any fault of their own, but rahter on account of hormones and changes in their body chemistry as they move from child bearing to non child bearing phases.

I guess in that manner God has treatd me kindly tho i am but in my early fourties. Everyone who knows me says i look eerily the same as i ever did. i guess that makes up some for the chronic illness, good skin, ages well. MY sissy doesnt even look like shes related to our family, much like her younger self. She looks so pretty but its odd... shes morphed into a different person.

The military is now a club that many want to join, but only few are good enough to get in.
Recruiting standards have also soared in the other services, particularly the air force, which has always been picky. The marines have gone from seeking a “few good men” to demanding a “few even better men (and women)”.

We got about 10 pounds of the buds together (we'd gather about 120 poiuinds per trip Brownsville), and were grinding it all up in a supersize blender at my student Co-op (which still exists, btw)
We had cleaned off all the poisonous strychnine crap and it was whirling around, looking ljust ike guacamole.
The the old postman walked in with a sack full of letters and looked at us, boys and girls, standing around looking sort of -- anxious. Mega fucking would soon ensue of course..
He said "Boy you all sure must like that guacamole dip"
And then my old buddy James told him, "Captain, in about 30 minutes, there's going to be a bunch of dips running around here!"

He's actually out your way currently in Drydock, he was home last month for another of our friend's wedding, he did have a few stories of how there are quite a few guys he knows that are being unable to reenlist a few years from retirement and even earlier as well. I seem to recall hearing similar stories from military people who were serving while Clinton was President too.

I was -><- thiiiis close to joining the Navy, and that's the thing that tipped me away. Ran into too many guys who'd been in for 12 years or so and were the victims of a drawdown. I don't know if they got compensated somehow for retirement, but it didn't seem fair.

I ran into a couple of welders in their late 40s in a bar once. They said they were pretty much at the end of their careers because the welding had damaged their vision such that everything was darker.
I thought that was pretty scary. I know it's good money, but if that happens even with eye protection...

There are several wild-ish areas in Cali with plague reservoirs. The state has signs warning you to stay away from dead squirrels and racoons and such. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

They were begging for qualified pipe welders. That was the peak of the profession. There were giant pipeline projects everywhere and this was by far the largest..
Got huge offers, but didn't want to get eaten alive by four pound Yukon mosquitos. so I went back to college on my oilfield earning and became a geologist.

As I once mentioned here, the best welder I ever saw was a pretty little stoned hippie chick down in Austin. We were working together on some projects in South Austin for Brown and Root.
She pulled the most beautiful bead around a pipe I ever saw. Perfect.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command says the Piper plane was out of radio communication when it was intercepted by an F-15E fighter at about 4:45 p.m. It was diverted to the airport in Martinsburg.
President Barack Obama was at Camp David at the time. He had traveled there by motorcade after switching from his Marine One helicopter because of bad weather.
The White House said the pilot of the small plane would be interviewed.

I tried laying pipe, can't do it anymore. Besides I am not a girl at 55. All those years took a toll. Both rotator cuffs shot, right knee basically mush, disjointed ankles. I should be on disability, but I won't take charity.

I think that we've about reached about the max number of people who are even willing to entertain that the SCoaMF is a SCoaMF. I don't have much hope in the rest seeing the light. I had a conversation last week with someone left of center (but, until now, I thought kind of reasonable). They were unwilling to concede that while Bush spent too much Obama was worse. Days from hell. My car broke down yesterday. Got up and cleaned entire house today, got ribs on slow cook in oven with sweet potatos, dog comes in and hacks up grass and whatever the hell he ate outside on my clean carpet. Then ran to store in hubbys truck to get beer before OU game, his truck would not start. Spent next two hours arranging tow truck, no cars available to rent because of long weekend in Vegas. Thank goodness, carmax is giving us a loaner. Sheeseh Ribs good, sweet potatos were nasty. Now drinking beer.

That gets into an interesting question. When people judge the attractiveness of group do they do so by the number of strikingly attractive people, or by average looks? If the former, that would follow your argument, if the latter, quite the opposite.
Interestingly, I see a lot of Europeans disparaging Americans for the latter - supposedly the average American is a spherical embarrassment. Of course, true or not, said average American has much better bathing, brushing, and general hygiene habits...

Actually, I've got an interesting tack on that. I *don't* think that intelligence is highly heritable, so dumb people having a lot of kids isn't going to doom humanity (and note people have been raising that complaint since the 30s).
However, I think you can see something similar to genetics in the development of political and social thought - and inferior thought genes are multiplying at an alarming rate.
For example, take our current culture and strip away 100 years of technology. Could it function? No. Take a group of modern American children, have them raised in a normal household of 100 years ago, and they'd do fine.

I remember reading some thing, some poll, I don't know, sometime back that mentioned Americans ranking pretty high in the list of most attractive people in the world. I don't know where, can't remember when, I just remember reading it and thinking, "What? Really?" Then I just figured it probably meant America had something for everyone.
I don't know about European hygeine, but I agree that cleanliness goes a long way towards attractiveness, even if you never think about it much.

Certainly the dominance of the US and Europe in the entertainment industry is the primary driving factor.

where do you get your information from? I am a typical European and my family is still typical European. I can assure you, we have the same hygiene habits as the typical American. This is what I mean by stereotyping. Also, not all Europeans are socialist, we lived next door to those utopian coutries and know very well what's going on

This is a cosmetic thing going back thousands of years. My two cents about this? This tradition in part has its roots in class structure, as the more darker Asians would be the poorer Asians working the fields as farmers and such while the more lighter Asians would be the well-to-do who could make a living indoors and thus not be exposed to the sun as much.

saline the inflate with the saline after they stiick em in. so the make them perfectly same size. You cant do that with the silicone stuffies. OTOH they feel more rel and dont get hard, or look like half coconuts bolted on as often. Certain brands stand behind the product and will pay to replace or remove if something goes wrong.

I think it's true that many women care more about how other women see them. Supposedly it was Angie Dickinson who said she dressed for women, but she undressed for men, or something along those lines.
Me, I like to look nice and have people tell me that I do, but I can't imagine getting surgery because I wasn't happy with a part of my body. I look as I look, you'll either like it or you won't, doesn't bother me one bit.

Gushka, medical necessity would be the only reason I would have surgery, facial reconstruction and the like, and it would depend upon the circumstances. Should I, God forbid, get breast cancer, I don't know even then if I would get breast reconstruction.
I have no problem with anyone getting surgery done purely for cosmetic reasons, it's just not for me.

i had a friend get the side of her face caved in by a horse. She got facial reconstruction without hesitation. i have several friends with breast cancer. Everyone makes their decisions looking at themselves through the prism of their life experiences and needs.
Some friends that got the radical double mastectomy didnt get the reconstruction. One didnt get the mastectomy said fuck it i will die as myself. She is Punk Rock.
But i have other friends that breast fed three and got a tummy tuck and a boob job to keep the hubbys attention. Its fine to be self assured but sometimes its better to do some maintenance and keep your nice place and not lose it to a younger sleeker model. I dont play the game that way, but some do. I know their hubby and hear them talk. personally i dont think what they are doin is stupid.

Had a very pleasant time at the Reagan Library today.
The place was packed! Got to see them building the rigging and stages for the debate.

Ya know sifty, I have to say, when harry reid was up for the senate last year and won, it was bs. NV went completely red except for that senate race, even though our candidate self destructed. No doubt shenanigans were at hand. But I hear people at the grocery store, or bar, or restaurant, etc, and nv does not like the scoamf. I feel pretty good. Plus, we have the highest unemployment in the country, doesnt bode well for him. People are pissed.

On the Saiga rifles the trigger got moved to the back of the receiver and a sporter stock got put on them, but the internals are still based on the AK-47 (and it's made by the same manufacturer).
It's a kind of strange arrangement, they just chopped off the finger piece of the AK trigger and ran a linkage to the new trigger at the back of the receiver, so to put the trigger back right behind the magazine well essentially all you have to do is remove the relocated trigger and mounting plate and then replace the chopped off trigger with a real one.
Then you get into federal compliance regulations, so what you do is replace all three pieces of the trigger, the forearm hand guard and the stock, install a pistol grip and 30 round magazines using parts all made in the US, and then you have an AK-47 pattern semi-auto only rifle that has fewer than 10 foreign made parts so you are in compliance with the law.
When I bought the rifle it had US made magazines, US made stock and pistol grip, and a US made rail system that replaced the forearm hand guard. As long as I use the US made 30 round magazines I'm in compliance, but if I use the original Saiga magazine I'm not.
The guy I got the gun from had already purchased the trigger group but had not put it in, so I ordered another stock (they are different between the AK and the Saiga because of where the trigger is mounted and therefore where the pistol grip mounts) and a hardware kit, so when the pieces come in I'll be converting the Saiga to the AK style trigger setup.

For now, the fear of destabilizing the municipal bond market with the words “state bankruptcy” has proponents in Congress going about their work on tiptoe. No draft bill is in circulation yet, and no member of Congress has come forward as a sponsor, although Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, asked the Federal Reserve chairman, Ben S. Bernanke, about the possibility in a hearing this month. House Republicans, and Senators from both parties, have taken an interest in the issue, with nudging from bankruptcy lawyers and a former House speaker, Newt Gingrich, who could be a Republican presidential candidate. It would be difficult to get a bill through Congress, not only because of the constitutional questions and the complexities of bankruptcy law, but also because of fears that even talk of such a law could make the states’ problems worse.

The article points out states are barred from seeking protection in federal bankruptcy court. It then adds, "Any effort to change that status would have to clear high constitutional hurdles because the states are considered sovereign. But proponents say some states are so burdened that the only feasible way out may be bankruptcy, giving Illinois, for example, the opportunity to do what General Motors did with the federal government's aid." The level of desperation must be verging on high tide if "policy makers" are considering state bankruptcy as a way out of local American obligations. Of course this begs the question as to how the federal government is going to handle ITS debts. Outstanding obligations are now said to hover in the area of US$200 trillion, a number the country will find impossible to honor without either hyperinflation or an international jubilee.
